Its compressed in video conversation - Qosmio F20

Hi all

I have a strange problem with my Qosmio F-20 136. When I run a video MSN Messenger 7.5 conversation audio is coming through compressed and very 'squeaky' - everyone looks like Chipmunks. It's too fast and who breaks to do what everyone says.

Anyone experienced the same problem? I tried with two different contacts to ensure that it is not an error to the sender.

Any ideas for how I can solve this problem?

Thanks :)

Hello

It is not easy to say why this is happening. I hope that this problem occurs only with MSN messenger. It will be interesting to see if the noise problem persists with other applications like Skype or Yahoo. Try to check the support CMN page.

I really put t think that this problem is caused by a malfunction of the speaker.

  • Qosmio F20: Bad sound using the MSN Messenger & video transmission

    Hi all

I recently bought a laptop Qosmio F20, who is currently connected to the Internet via a router/modem WiFi Netgear (DG834v2).
I tried to use MSN messenger v7.5 (7.5.0311 and 7.5.0324) with a webcam Creative NX () to make a video call.
But the sound of the person I'm talking to is so distorted, it is impossible to have a conversation (I tried with several of my friends, who all have good sound on their end).
However, if I have an audio only (no video) conversation, I have a perfect sound.
Despite my best efforts (update drivers, reinstall messenger, windows firewall ok for messenger etc...) I've had no chance of finding the problem so far. If anyone has any suggestions I would be very grateful.

    Thanks in advance.
    François

    Hello

You suggested that the sound working properly without the video connection.
In my opinion, it happens because of the webcam. Maybe the software has a bad influence on the sound.
This is not a product of Toshiba, and Toshiba is not responsible for any 3rd party device.
I recommend you to check the site of the manufacture of cam. Maybe you will find the solution.

  • Re: No sound after my first format... Qosmio F20

    Hello

I have just formatted my Qosmio F20 after 2 years of use. BUT! Unfortunately, I'm so disappointed because I used the "Product recovery" CD in order to have a secure and easy format, but the results were bad! There is no sound coming out of my speakers.

I have the logo "speaker" on the bottom right of my screen and I can raise and lower the volume but I still don't hear anything.

Also, I can play videos and songs and the "players" do not give me error messages regarding my sound sessions.

If everything seems Ok, but I don't know why I still can't hear you! I'm deaf? loooool

Furthermore, I have no problem with the built-in speakers say at the time I used the "product recovery CD.

Please let me know what I need to do! : S

    Thanks for your time,
    Jeffrey

Its always best to use the recovery CD when you reinstall Windows, it will have all the drivers and patches the system must :)

Try clicking on Mute, then it activate several times. Mute may get "stuck" in "secret" mode after reinstalling Windows.
Check also that the physical volume knob is completely assembled.

  • Qosmio F20 reformatted with WXP - missing drivers

Hey guys, I have a Toshiba Qosmio F20, I bought 3 years ago and its running fine until a few weeks back, when he just wouldn t getting started, things would turn out, but when the Windows XP register you domes I get a blue screen and all of a sudden, he stops and restarts... so I managed to install Windows XP Professional on it everything works fine now, but I couldn't t get connected to the internet.

One of my friends told me that I had to reinstall the hardware drivers, so I thought that if I went to control panel > performance and maintenance > hardware devices > I see a list of equipment that had few points of exclamation by them, the list contains the following items:

    1. Ethernet controller
    2. Mass Storage Controller
    3. multimedia Audio Controller
    4. multimedia video controller
    5. network controller
    6 PCI Modem
    7. video Controller (VGA Compatible)

In one of them if I go to the properties, all the information on there are "unknown", as the driver provider: unknown, the hardware manufacturer: unknown... If anyone has the manufacturer and the name of the hardware on my list, please post them, I really need this phone working in the next few days, go for Christmas...

    Thank you very much
    Redding.

If you get a recovery disk with your laptop, use the disc.

On the recovery disk Toshiba are all drivers and Toshiba tools include. Then you n t need to download and install each driver.

But when you want to do this or lost the disk, you can download the Toshiba site:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported Downloads & => Download drivers

I always use the Toshiba recovery disc for my Toshiba laptop, and it works perfectly. So I save a lot of time and work.

  • Qosmio F20-136: I have no restore CD?

The Qosmio F20-136 laptop comes with a Windows CD I can't find one, don't know if its just on the recovery CD, but I think remember me there used to be a Microsoft Map with etc product key, I do not see to be able to find a.
    Thank you

    Hi Mike

AFAIK the recovery CD provided with the device. On this CD, you will find a ghost image that includes a Windows operating system, drivers, and other applications as a Note.
The product key for a Note that you will find on the cover of the recovery CD. In addition, you don't need to activate the Windows operating system because the imgages Toshiba are already activated.

But maybe you have to create this image of yourself. In this case using Toshiba, you will find a function to burn clean recovery Image

    Good bye

  • Qosmio F20 - slow speed of WLAN

The speed of the WLAN on the Qosmio F20 became very slow. With the help of a cable ethernet or other WLAN peripheral speed (i.e. the USB WLAN dongle) is well, but builds in the PRP/Wireless Intel 2200BG adapter it grinds just practically interrupted.
I've already checked all the drivers are updated including BIOS and drivers for WIFI cards that are now on the latest versions, but this has not helped.

The State of the WLAN card indicates the power of the full signal 'excellent '. I have a 3Com office connect all points access router wifi b/g, channel 11, WPA PSK TKIPand other wireless devices / computers connect ok at full speed to the AP.

Any ideas to solve this problem are greatly appriciated.

    Thank you

You use Intel Proset to manage the Wifi connection? Removing it and let Windows manage the Wifi.

Try disabling your Antivirus/malware software, maybe its interfering with the connection.

Also try to update the firmware on this router 3Com.

  • How to reset the BIOS on Qosmio F20 password?

    Hello

I disassembled my Toshiba Qosmio F20-137 because DC socket was broken, now when I turn on (it works) its request a password!

How will I know what it is? is it something I can reset?

    Thank you

    > This is something I can reset?
Unfortunately not. BIOS password is a security feature and cannot be reset if the password is unknown.
Now, all you can do is contact Toshiba service nearest and ask for help. They can do for you.

In the end, I must say that it is very strange that the BIOS password occurs after laptop disassembly procedure. I ve never heard of that.

  • Camera connected DV Firewire/IEEE 1394 is not recognized - Qosmio F20

Hi - I wonder if anyone has any advice on the following points.

I have a Qosmio F20 running XP Media Center.
I have a JVC GR-DVM5 (old but good) camcorder with an i.Link/1394 port. Connecting a DV camera to the PCs 1394 port via a firewire cable 4 pin should recognized the camera as a device of additional hardware and install automatically.

However, the device is not recognized. Even try to be creating the device in applications such as Movie Maker, WinDVD creator, etc., does not work and the unit is not picked up by these.

All things were created according to the JVC user manual, the 1394 port works well (depending on Device Manager), and the driver is up-to-date.

According to Microsoft, the appropriate drivers are included in XP (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/300459/en-us - but still MS have failed to confirm to me that this applies to XP MCE as well as professional and Home editions.)

Can anyone provide any help! ??

    JB

It is the right word. I have connected my older Sony camcorder via firewire to Qosmio G20 and the camcorder is recognized correctly (Sony cam was listed in Device Manager). I was able to copy all saved on the HARD drive movies and create DVDs later.

Believe me it's very interesting that all devices Sony I have connected with Qosmio laptop computer were recognized correctly (two camcorders different and two digital cameras). I really don't understand what's wrong with your JVC cam.

I ve checked a digital video forum and a guy with the same problem reported that he was able to connect the cam when the cam is placed in the docking station. Can you please try the same thing?

Of course, the cam must be turned on.

I have problems with the drive. It burns/reads DVD but no cd, ive just completed a new installation of the DVD recovery still no joy.
I had the laptop about 4 years and its in good nick! could someone tell me what the problem is.

I asked what we call tech to pcworld guy only to be told that they don't know?

    Help woulkd very appreciated.

    Concerning

I can't say with certainty, but the player is maybe defective. The position of the objective for playback of DVD and CD is not the same thing and maybe by car has problems to put the lens in the right position.

To be honest, Qosmio F20 is old enough laptop model, and I would not be surprised if the drive is defective.

    Hello

I put t really understand why you have these big problems with the installation of the driver.
The installation instructions document was placed on the European driver Toshiba page!
This txt file describes how to install the drivers and the drivers are needed.

Simply download all the drivers and install this, in the right order.

That s all and in my opinion that s enough!

    Try it!

  • Qosmio F20-136: scanned TV guide channel - save the file so you can recharge?

I have a Qosmio F20 - 136 running XP Media Center. My question is does anyone know the name of the file that has the channels scanned so that if I do a re scan and don't get all channels from the list, because of my reception antenna I can re - load the file on the system with a complete list?

What happens, if I make a new analysis of the channels of television at home I don't get that nearly 20 tv channels, but if I take the laptop to work, where I guess it's a better reception from the transmitter, I travel 35 channels found. I would like to save the file when its 35 channels scanned and have the opportunity to replace it in the directory, if I do a re scan at home.

    Thank you.

    Hello Mike

Your validation list is very impressive and you should be an expert Qosmio. ;)
I have F20 too and I also noticed that I can't watch all the channels available on cable TELEVISION here at home.

Have you already found something interesting about it?

  • Qosmio F20-149: I accidently deleted the folder Power Saver

    Hello

I have problems with the energy saver, but I could not uninstall and reinstall so I deleted the whole directory... an error! So can someone download me its Repertory Powersaver so I uninstall etc still files once and I can uninstall correctly it!

I have a Qosmio F20-149, but with luck another Qosmio Version will do as well, too!

    thx for the help

I don't think it's a good idea to install files to watch foreign power on your operating system.
I recommend you to download the energy saver (if you have it t n), and then install it again.
If the installation does not start because of missing files, so you must first enter in the registry, and then delete all entries of power gain.
    And repeat the installation procedure.

  • Qosmio F20 cannot read CD copy

I need help with this problem > why this CD-ROM on Qosmio F20-138 cannot read any CD copy? Orginal CD is readable.
Is this the CD or driver problem?

This ability of problem because Windows XP default CD burning
Try disabling default CD Burning capability
If you have a good CD burning software, you can turn off the CD burning feature. There are two ways to do this:

    REGISTER METHOD:
In regedit, go to [ntVersion ntVersion\Policies\Explorer] and look for the key "NoCDBurning". Maybe you find there if this is your first time. In this case, create a new DWORD "NoCDBurning" key and set its value to turn it off.

    ANOTHER METHOD:
Go to your windows Explorer and locate the drive corresponding to the CD - RW drive. Right-click on it and select Properties. In the Properties window, go to the recording tab and you will see and option called "enable CD writing on this drive". If it is selected, deselect it.
