  Same problem here.  Very annoying.  Each time is like the first time, which is great when you talk about sex, but not when you run iTunes.  All versions up to now has been able to hold its window size and position, but not anymore.  I also find the interface is very slow to boot.

  Need help because I have recently taken the plunge and moved from PC to a Mac. I have can´t work is how to import my itunes library and the overall rating. in my opinion, it should be a simple thing but so far, all my efforts and solutions online did not work.

  I tried the data migration. This has created a new user. I thought that I could transfer the files in the set (all CD), but when I click on a song in the new user, it couldn t find the file. FYI I had consolidated the library itunes beforehand.

  I also tried to use an external HD drive. Same result even if I managed to put all my music on. I figured out how to export my rankings. Charge of their place and it worked until I clicked on a song and it couldn t find a file.

  This really should be simple so all advice very welcome.

A portable library can be moved from one platform to the other while keeping the ratings, playlists, etc. You can move the data over a network, or use an external drive.   It is possible that your iTunes library file has become corrupted, so iTunes has started up with a new iTunes library.  Or you may have accidentally set iTunes to open a new iTunes library.  If you use the default configuration, the iTunes library file is located in your iTunes folder and called iTunes Library.itl, to this place

  [startup drive] /Users/ [your name of user account] / music/iTunes/iTunes Library.itl

  NOTE: The iTunes library file is a database that defines your iTunes library.  It contains no files media real iTunes, which are organized and stored separately.

  Go to this location using a Finder window; What do you see?  If you see a file called iTunes Library.itl here, quit iTunes (if you run) and use this method to open iTunes using this library file.

  When you have installed iTunes, and you download it from anywhere other than the Apple servers. There is a new version of the 12.3.2.35 installer that came out some time around 23/24, which can solve the problem for you. Download and install on your existing copy.
