iTunes backup encrypted - password forgotten
I started to do encrypted backups from my iPhone to my computer in iTunes, but I forgot the password.
I don't want to erase my phone completely and start all over again.
Is it possible to "throw" the current encrypted backup and start an encrypted backup 'new' with a password that I won't lose this time?
I don't want to just save the backup to that one costed upwards I can never access.
Thanks, Flyguy
(PS - Yes, setting a password and then do not store a safe place is a really stupid thing to do)
If you are lucky to have the password in the keychain, then proceed as follows. http://osxdaily.com/2013/06/26/recover-lost-encrypted-backup-password-iOS/

I forgot the password in itunes backup
I forgot the password in iTunes please help need backup?
You will not be able to use this backup, nor turn encrypted backups 'off', unless you can remember: about backups in iTunes - Apple Support encrypted
To disable iTunes backup encryption, enter the password and uncheck backup encrypted in iTunes. Password encryption is always necessary to turn off encryption of backup.
You cannot use a backup encrypted if you do not have the password. If you have forgotten your password, the only way to turn off encryption on the backup device is to wipe your device and set up as new. Clear deletes all data on your device. If you don't want to erase your device, restore from a backup instead.

ITunes backup encrypted accepts no not my password after own stable operating system
Hello world
I have itunes configured to backup my iphone. I put it up to encrypted backups.
Yesterday, I had to do a clean install of the operating system (Windows 10 in this computer)
Now, I have attached my iphone and linked with ITunes, the "encrypted backup" checkbox was marked by default. It was surprising because it was a clean install. I have the backup is done, and when I tried to check if everything was OK, iTunes tells me that the password that worked before you clean the installation doesn't work anymore.
I did not define a different password. I lost my backup forever? If so, why? What happened here?
I would be grateful if someone could help me.
Thank you very much in advance. I'm a bit desperate
Restart your computer. Then try to change the password backup in iTunes. You will need the old password. If this attempt is successful, you should be able to restore the phone. Failure then you enter the wrong password. The password encrypted backup is completely separated from any other password you use; It will be identical to a different password if you entered when you first made an encrypted backup. And the password that you used the first time will remain for always the backup password unless you use the change password button in iTunes.

Hello - I forgot my password for backup, and I am trying to find a way to reset. I tried to reset the security questions as well. But even that seems difficult.
Can anyone help here please. Need to set up my new iPhone 6 s.
Thank you
Elke
Hello
When you restore from a backup, encrypted iTunes (the password would have been defined when you first activate this option), it is necessary to enter this password.
There is no way to change the password for an existing backup, nor in any other way around this feature.

Password forgotten during the restoration
Hello
I bought a new iPhone6s. I already had an iPhone5. I downloaded itunes and saved the old device. Then I started the iphone 6 s. He asked me a few questions and I answered. He also asked me the password I entered (identical to the one I used for the iphone5, but with the last digit repeated 3 times). Then I plugged the device in itunes to restore and when I selected the restore from itunes the phone rebooted and asked me the password. I entered the password, but she did not accept it. I'm stuck now, the phone does not accept the password. I tried the way mentioned on the support of apple keeping the home button and the sleep/wake, but it won't go into restore mode.
Is there another way to solve this problem?
I tried the 'find my Iphone' on icloud, but it is not showing the phone the phone is locked and wifi and is not connected to a network.
Any help would be much appreciated.
When you set up your new phone, he should have asked for:
1 language
2. Wifi network
3 iCloud connect
4. then it should ask if you want to restore from an iCloud or iTunes backup
Then, you should have Wifi at this stage.
What is the text right of the message you receive about your access code? At what point in the process of this application it comes up?
See you soon,.

Restoring iTunes backup of iPhone 7/6 s more iPhone 7/6
Wondering if someone share the experience on the commutation of the iTunes backup between 5.5 inches in 4.7 devices sizes and vice versa. Up to now I'm used to screen 4.7-inch and interested in trying more. Where I wanted to go back to smaller phones in the future is there any problem in using backup of 5.5 inches by 4.7 inches?
Hi there, rg58272!
Thank you for reaching out by Apple Support communities. After reading your post, I understand that you have questions about backing up your iPhone and then using this backup on another iPhone. I'd be happy to help you!
The physical size of your iPhone, if it's an iPhone 7 or an iPhone 7, will not affect your ability to use your backup. What will affect it, however, is the size of storage of your iPhone. For example, if you have a 128 GB iPhone and you use 120GBs, the backup cannot be restored to an iPhone which has a 128 GB or more large storage capacity; You cannot restore to a 32GB iPhone.
When the time comes for you to backup your iPhone, you can use the following article.

A happy testing!

Backup in videos and photos as iTunes backup
My son has a ton of pictures (and videos) on his iPhone 5s. There are currently on IOS 8.x. I want to upgrade his phone to the standard ISO 9.x. If I connect to iTunes and do a "backup", everything on the phone (including photos and video) gets backup upward? I know that when I connect my iPhone, the Photo app opens asking me to download my pictures from my phone. I know that it is a good idea as well, but if I skip that step and JUST do the iTunes backup, I know where I have to erase and restore the backup? I will answer all my photos as well?
Thank you.
On the backup and restore
1 choose a backup method iOS (if I use iTunes or iCloud to save...)
2. backup and restore your iOS Device with iCloud or iTunes
4. create and delete iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch backups in iTunes
5 iOS: troubleshooting of encrypted backups
6. find and manage your iTunes backups
8. If you need help, restore from a backup of iTunes
9. restore your device from an iCloud or iTunes backup
10. on safeguards in iCloud and iTunes
A particular interest should be 10 point above which explains how iOS and iTunes backups differ. Normally, the photos are stored on the computer or in a pictures/iPhoto library, rather than in iTunes or iOS because of concerns of the storage space. It's the same for videos. Both, however, can be stored in your iTunes for syncing your devices.

Includes photos an iTunes backup?
Hello!
I've recently updated my iPhone to iOS 9.3 and it entered into recovery mode. Now, I have to restore my iPhone. But I don't want to lose my pictures. I made a backup via iTunes a few months ago.
I want to know if the iTunes backup includes a backup of Photos.
If I restore and install the backup from iTunes, I will answer my photos?
If they film photos that should be included and be restored back (assuming that they were on the phone during the last backup), pictures synced to the phone via iTunes on the computer will not be included.

Not a big deal, but A1409 is not a model number of all AirPort Express. This is the model number for a Time Capsule.

Not a problem just a question. I intend to sell my apple iPhone, it's not compatible with my new wireless network. I can't afford to buy an iPhone outright at the moment, but I plan in the future. I want to backup everything on my iPhone to my Mac so that I can restore the data to a new iPhone later. The current iPhone 5 is already set to save important things to iCloud, if I choose the option with a manual backup encryption will be that record everything, including all the data from the app? Sorry if this is a stupid question, I want to just make sure I have everything before you send the iPhone.
Hello CallRinny,
I understand that you have a question about your iTunes backups and that you should use. Back on which covers.
In general, an iTunes backup will cover pretty much everything on your iPhone. The best thing to watch over it, it's what doesn't iTunes back upwards and which covers the encrypted backup. Take a look at the information below to clarify this. I would also do that applications will be recorded in your iTunes library, so when you restore your backup, apps will sync back to the wire in one sitting instead to download on the App Store.

On your Mac or PC, you can make a backup of your device in iTunes. Synchronize your device with your computer is not the same as performing a backup.
An iTunes backup includes almost all settings and data from your device. An iTunes backup does not include:
- Content of the iTunes and App Store or directly downloaded from iBooks PDF files (you can save this content using transfer purchases in iTunes.)
- Synchronized content from iTunes, as imported MP3s or CDs, videos, books and photos
- Photos already stored in the cloud, like My Photo Stream and iCloud photo library
- Tap Settings ID
- Settings and information Apple pay
- Data activity, health, and keychain (to save this content, you will need to use iTunes backup encrypted ).
