  • Firefox blocks Java for the NYTimes chess player; I do not receive a message allowing me to use the options described in section of Java to allow that.

The lead sentence gives the essential. When I try to use the NYTimes chess player (to examine the games on the site of the NYTimes) I get a message that my security settings have blocked. The player uses Java, and it tries to open when I get the message, so I guess that Java is the problem. Article on how to enable Java described several messages that can appear which would give me the possibility to allow to run, but none of these messages appear in this circumstance - Firefox simply refuses to allow Java to run. Nothing in my security settings seems to relate to this issue.

Hello, this message is not firefox but the java plugin itself - please refer to the oracle documentation: http://www.java.com/en/download/help/appsecuritydialogs.xml

I'm on OS X 10.8.5, the two Firefox and Java are the last activated version. I went in the Java settings in system preferences and made sure it was "enabled", I deleted the folder for temporary files as well, I also deleted from my history in Firefox and cookies, cache and restarted.

I think I know what is happening.

    Please try these steps:

Let us know if that fixes the problem.

  • Will buy the Xoom and use with MIFI

I intend to buy the Xoom and use it only with Mifi (on the road) and my wireless router (at home), if I have to buy with Verizon CDMA, I'll do it, but I don't intend to start a plan with Verizon, I hope that it works for the units that are selling from 02/17/11.

The XOOM has wifi, so your Mifi will work with him. you wouldn't buy a package given just the XOOM.

  • Google on the Xoom account login failure

I just got my Motorola Xoom of BestBuy and I had time to add my Google account to the device.

I had recently activate 2 factor authentication on my Google account and I thought this might be causing the problem.

I DISABLED the 2 factor Auth and the Xoom has been able to add and synchronize my Google account.

I'll reactivate 2 factor auth and see if she continues to work or if a Xoom means you can't do 2 factor auth on your Google account.

I'm fine with that. 2 factor Auth was a bit new to me as it was JUST launched. I think it's a great asset to protect my Google account which contains LOTS of information about my life. I don't know that it will soon enable this capability in the Android OS.

  • Portfolio for the XOOM case

I had a leather case which is not really hold my xoom inside.

-that someone tried the case of portfolio

    http://www.Motorola.com/consumers/ca-en/consumer-products-and-services/Tablet-Accessories/portfolio-...

Yes I have this case, works well. Only thing that is a little annoying, is that you must open to load the Xoom since no hole cut out in the case of access ports when it is closed.

Some people complain that the tabs little that hold the bottom of the Xoom in the case leave little black marks on the side, but I have not had problems with that yet.

  • He says the Xoom * REAL * multi touch?

Hello! First post... I'm just curious if you please, before making a decision on the tablet PC, if the Xoom supports * real * multi touch? In the specification of it says 'pinch zoom ability' or something like that, so I think not. Would be great if it's good, because I think that hardware and software wise that this the best Tablet there at the moment...

    Thank you

  • Contact list Gmail does not display on the XOOM?

The gmail contact list is not available in the Xoom, or at least I can find it? As a side note I do not think that it appears in the Yahoo mail app is?

    Lyle

    Hi Lyle,

Hmmm... mine was on by default, the second homescreen as you slide to the left... but also if you tap the Apps button at the top right, Contacts should be in this list, so... is that not for you?

    Kind regards

    Tom

  • Is there a cell phone of the Xoom charger?

I searched the forum and checked the Internet in search of a cell phone charger that works with the Xoom. Just to clarify, I mean an external battery to charge when an outlet is not available. Will be traveling and want to make sure that the Xoom will be powered for the duration of the flight I saw different opinions, but nothing solid. Any info is greatly appreciated.

  • A question of home on the Xoom 1 and 2 Xoom 10.1

I have the original Xoom and got the Xoom 2 today. I know that the docs of the Xooms are not compatible, I managed to place the Xoom 2 on the standard doc without any problem. My question is, somehow harm the Xoom to 2 to use the doc just as a stand? I guess that I could not load with her, but that I bought the case for it today, its unfortunately lacky especially as a stand.

    Thanks for any input Wanda

    @nccoast,

I wouldn't be able to plug the dock while using it as a stand, however, since the two presentations of pines might get shorted by a metal surface on the outside of your Xoom 2.

  • Any chance to use the Xoom with prepaid data card/key

Since we travel a lot, the idea of paying the data available on our Xoom only WiFi are attractive. I've seen these data "sticks" available for the regular USB ports, but not for the mini USB port located on the Xoom. Even if it was available, he would work on the Xoom without additional software changes?

Or am I totally off base here? (Wouldn't be the first time)

    Welcome dodgema,

The USB port on the Xoom does not currently feature host for USB drives or other storage devices. It does not allow the Xoom to be a connected to a PC as a device (the PC's host) to allow file transfers. Once honeycomb is updated to allow external storage, you must always apply android on the USB device or locally to run a prepaid program. You can use free WiFi at many public hotspots, WiFi only that I saw that you were going to a specific location for the (less flexible for me) access would require. You can, however, use a MiFi device to attach your Xoom out of a cell phone to use its data plan (some are pay as you go and others are unlimited). This gives you a mobile WiFi hotspot everywhere wherever you go.

  • How can you play a movie on the Xoom?

OK now my turn to ask a stupid question. How are you supposed to play a movie on the xoom? Let's say you have the file downloaded in the movies folder, what is the formal process to play this movie?

I realize that I can use my file manager to select the movie and he will play, but it seems to me that there should be an icon or an app for it as showing a picture or play music with the icon of the music. I'm looking at this point of view of someone who isn't a geek and want to play a movie?

    TFG

OK solved my problem. You use the App Gallery. guess who wasn't quite intuitively obvious to the casual observer as my teacher said.

    Hello

The safest to do thing is to say no and then go to Java.com to get the new version.

  • Screamin ' streaming on the Xoom

Video streaming on the Xoom has been a hot topic being discussed here on the forums, with varying degrees of results. This weekend I got a video viewing on my Xoom incredible experience. As I said before here on the forum, I bought the unit of media streaming of PogoPlug about 3 weeks ago only to use with my Xoom. I was recently asked to beta-test a completely new PogoPlug applications on the device and the Xoom (made specifically for honeycomb). Loading time and continuous performance has been greatly improved and the results on the Xoom are phenomenal.

Saturday night, I took of my daughters at McDonald's for some game time and the latest craze of the Rio film toy (they follow with those, not me). While they played in the Indoor playground, I hung on public WiFi with my Xoom. My quest this weekend? Give the beta software of PogoPlug thorough a test. The new software lets ensure you you connect remotely to the PogoPlug device and from there, you can access any shared on my LAN device (PCs, NAS, printers, etc.) and any USB drive connected to the PogoPlug device (I have a WD 2 TB my book). The new software also does now this drive available on the local network, by the way.

If I shot to the top of the Xoom, connectivity verified via the browser (to swear to Ronald I will not abuse his hot spot) and then I ran the new customer of PogoPlug and Zoom! (on the Xoom!), I got a video play smoothly in literally 15 seconds. You heard that right, 15 seconds , and if my fingers could work faster menus, it would have been less. Wow, that smoke! I looked at several different videos, all of them just as fast as if loading was on my LAN and the right streaming to the Xoom with absolutely ZERO lag. All the videos I've seen had been batch converted to the Xoom, including content in HD (HQ1) mode. I firmly believe that the difference is the new customer that maximizes the use of honeycomb and the Tegra 2 processor. I was so excited that other parents began to look over my shoulder and the next thing I know I had two other dads amazed by the distribution functions.

Previously, my experience has been much slower loading (about 3-4 minutes) and video who hesitate every 5-10 minutes. He was playing flawless in every respect and really shows the power of streaming video and audio remote (more access to my network storage was all also super fast). This new software is still not quite ready for prime time hours (lack of a few things in the beta), it really shows the honeycomb and functions of dissemination of the Xoom.
