joint problem Homegroup

I created a homegroup on my main computer (office).  Other computers (a netbook and a laptop) won't recognize the existence of the homegroup on the main computer, so I can't join the homegroup.

I did all the obvious things: clocks/date in sync, file sharing, etc.  Still nothing.  Please notify.

My problem is solved.  I can't say I fixed it, but it's just sort of happened.  For reasons that had nothing to do with my computers and everything related to furniture re - organize in my house, I had to unplugging completely and unplug my modem and the router and all the devices connected to my office.  Later, when I put everything back together, I discovered that computers could all meet and share homegroup files.  I doubt that Microsoft could explain that one, but it might work for you.  Then disconnect your computer from the network, to disassemble the network (physically disconnect all components) and then put back together, and maybe it will work for you also.  In any case, if you have the homegroup already put in place, leave it alone when you do such things.  May good luck and gods of fortune of the smile on you computer!

  • Compaq Presario CQ61-420US no start/black screen

    Hi all.

I have a compaq presario CQ61-420US having similar problems below, except I have a black screen, fan flashing lights turns is the same (num lock and cap lock) but they Flash continuously every second or 2.  I tried the hard reset with the fix of ram, connect an external monitor, change the battery and the power adapter, nothing helps. I also used the air compressed on the vents, just in case was riddled with dust because it overheats and can cause problems, but nothing.

    Any other suggestions?

An option I can think of is to buy a new motherboard, but I'm going to try something else before that.

    AlexisGonzalezC,

You can try the above solution the other person sugguested.

Sorry, but it is very difficult to help without a touch your computer and troubleshoot it if there is a hardware problem.

I predict that GPU your computer has a pseudo brazing or cold joint problem.

  • A cause of failure of home group that is not in the instructions

It should have been obvious, but security programs must be the same on all computers on the network.    New laptop is come with McAfee, Bureau of Bitdefender.    Printer in network OK, but wouldn't the homegroup.    After deleting McAfee and put Bitdefender on laptop, works now.

This is BitDefender did not like McAfee.     Now, however, a new problem;  Homegroup will not start if I don't turn off firewall BD.   Then, it works well with the firewall on during some time, then didn't.    I have BitDefender support question.

    My apologies to you Fred.

The fault was all my decisions. The desktop of Windows 10 had been configured in white using my Visual problems.

It is turn caused the faulty display of Google in Firefox.

A test in the normal Windows theme shows the Google logo and question box frame correctly. This is perhaps why MS do not offer a standard white desktop computer in W10.

  • Homegroup and multiple user account problems

I have been searching the net for information and can't find anything that matches.  I'm having all kinds of problems through the homegroup and multiple user accounts.

I would like to know: when a machine (laptop in this case) is off the network, the individual user accounts will remain visible under homegroup?

If they are not, then homegroup is not for me.

    UPDATE and closing:

I confirmed that the individual accounts of the user on a machine that visible to another when this computer is connected to another group residential computer on a local network domestic.  Why they don't look just like a homegroup internally I don't get except that the machine would always be part of a group residential e.g. a laptop, as in my case, would be carrying a homegroup with it and not be able to jump on another residential group in a different location.

What was causing me a lot of trouble has AVG Free.  Attention, the installation of AVG Free homegroup PCs cannot meet or is inconsistent at best.  My laptop would show the user accounts, but not the other homegroup PCs and both could indicate that there is no other available HG machine or sometimes invites you to create a homegroup.  It was a nightnare.

  • Problem with use of a printer on a homegroup.

I lost a connection to printer.  When I tried a reinstall, I think that the installer could not find the printer because of something about homegroups.  I have one computer connected to the printer through usb.  Others that the internet, there is nothing.  I can't understand if I have a problem of residential group and do not understand something about homegroups even after watching all the videos, etc.  Help!

    Hello

If you have a single stand-alone computer while you do not have a network or
    a homegroup.

OEM for the printer manufacturer is responsible for the proper functioning of the printer
and their drivers. Check with the printer manufacturer's support, their online
documentation and drivers and ask in their forums.

Good luck, you need to update or reinstall the latest driver.

    original title: incorrect Homegroup password

So, my cousins both got two netbooks for Christmas so I took it upon myself to put in place. However, I seem to have problems with getting Homegroup to work.

    All computers:
    Have enabled IPv6
Use Microsoft Security Essentials with the last update
Are connected to the same router (Linksys WRT54GX2)
Have no other third-party firewalls or AV installed and have been neatly eliminated via their respective tools when they had their
Can be seen in the network and can access any other files via 'network '.
Have the correct date and time and are all in sync with time.nist.gov.
Have the same network sharing settings (network discovery on, files and printers sharing folders public, sharing, streaming, wide, 128-bit encryption, sharing password protected, to allow windows to manage the homegroup connections)
Network is set at home, not in public

The computer that has implemented the homegroup is connected via ethernet to the router while other computers use to access the router 802.11 g I tried to delete and redo the residential group as well.

Despite all this, it is said that the homegroup password is incorrect for both netbooks (where it says it has encountered an error). I realize that it is case sensitive and I entered the password correctly. I also ran the resolution of the problems of the homegroup on all 3 machines and still no luck. I also tried to change the password and restarting of machines.

Any suggestions? I was _really_ hoping it will work right out of the box. Maybe it's something with the router? I don't really know. Any help is appreciated. Merry Christmas! : D

  • Windows 7 homegroup printer problems

I have set up a homegroup with a laptop computer and computer of one currently connected and recognized Wireless Office. I have double/triple checked all the settings on both computers and everything is according to the needs. When we send a document from the laptop to the desktop printer (HP 1600), the status shows as having been wound onto portable printer information and it shows also have been wrapped and in the queue on the desktop, but it ends - nothing prints!  Here's the loopy thing - in desperation I re-uploaded the driver package for HP printer on the desktop and as it was be installed the printed document. However, when you try to send another document to print from the laptop on the 1600 HP desktop, first the laptop tells us that new printer drivers need to be downloaded on this one, which we comply to and then voila! We're back to the same problem - does not, but in the print queue. Repeat the re-installation of printer on the desktop drivers and it prints again during installation.

  • RESOLVED - unable to enable IPv6 in Windows 7, so unable to connect to the homegroup - ZoneAlarm was the problem

My problem is that I can't turn on IPv6 in Windows 7.

My goal was to set up a homegroup three computers so that I can share a printer that is connected to one of them. They are all running different versions of Windows 7.  A desktop computer has created a homegroup, and a second desktop computer connected successfully to the homegroup and can print using the first computer printer.

The third computer is a portable computer. When you go to the homegroup settings page, it says that the homegroup is available. But this computer is unable to join when you click on the "join" button. The convenience store said IPv6 must be enabled.

Option is checked in the IPv6 network card settings. (The install button is also active and uninstall is dimmed. I don't understand why this should be as I have read that you cannot uninstall IPv6, if it makes sense for the uninstallation to be grey, why install would be an option? Confusion between.)

Here is what seems to be the root of the problem. In the registry settings, in the section IPv6 DisabledComponents is set to 255 (disabled). I change it to 0 (all features enabled), but I can't always connect to the homegroup. I restart the computer and the value 0 is changed back to 255.

I can't activate IPv6, it isn't surprising that the computer cannot join the homegroup as I read that this function requires IPv6.

Can any expert from Microsoft give me some advice on how to operate the homegroup?

    Thank you very much.

I have now found the answer to my problem. This is a setting in the free ZoneAlarm firewall. I will describe the solution in the case of meeting other people that.

I have the default setting of the version of ZoneAlarm is that it disables IPv6 when it starts. (I don't know if it's the same for all versions).

Although I tried disabling ZoneAlarm (and my separate anti-virus) so he was trying to set up group residential, just turn it off has no impact on registry settings - DisabledComponents is always set at 255 until you change to 0 and, critically, restart the machine. Then, the parameter 0 (enabled) will come into force. Or so it seems to me as a layman.

But if you did not disable the automatic startup of ZoneAlarm (like me) then as soon as you restart the computer, ZoneAlarm starts too and resets the 255, new registry entry to disable IPv6. If you can't join a homegroup.

The solution is to open ZoneAlarm and choose firewall, hand and advanced. Then you will see the option to activate IPv6 networks. When I didn't do the notebook had no problem joined the homegroup.

I don't know why I have the same problem on the second desktop computer. Maybe it's runnning a later version of ZoneAlarm to allow IPv6 - I haven't checked.

In any case, I spent hours looking for this solution, so I hope that the description above helps someone else that has a parameter of the problem until a homegroup because of what seems ZoneAlarm made IPv6 settings in the registry.

Refer to the mention of the steps below:

    a. click the Start button and then click on your user name.

    b. navigate to the file or the folder that you want to exclude the sharing and select it.

    c. do one of the following:
To prevent the file or folder to share with anyone, in the toolbar, click on share and then click nobody.
To share the file or folder with some people but not others, in the toolbar, click on share with, click specific people, select each person you want to share with, and then click Add. When you are finished, click on share.
To change the level of access to a file or folder, in the toolbar, click on share with, and then select group residential (read) or homegroup (read/write).

    Method 2:

Try to remove the sharing protected by advanced sharing settings change password.

    a. open homegroup by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, typing homegroup in the search box, and then click homegroup

    b. click on change sharing settings advanced, remove the option sharing protected by password and check if it helps.
