K:\ is not accessible. The parameter is incorrect.

K is a HP Personal Media Drive

OS: Vista Ultimate and 64-bit SP2 installed

Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 2.66 GHz

RAM: 4 GB

RAID 0

The drive appears in my computer and explore, but I cannot access it.  I only noticed because I only use it for backup and the backup does not work from about 3 weeks.  Could Norton Registry Cleaner have deleted the files needed to access the drive when it was not connected?  If so, how can I restore?

Is probably something else?

Hi, Willbo17,

Try a system restore to a date and time before the period of 3 weeks that you mentioned above.  This may show the missing files.

What is system restore?

If you insist on using Norton, you can exclude files from his scans, etc...

  • Windows Vista C drive is not accessible, the error "the parameter is incorrect."

I recently got a used laptop and have been clean files and install updates and now my drive "C" indicates "0" bytes. I can't open the files or download anything to try to fix. I also got the message "the parameter is incorrect." Can anyone help?

I suggest that, as it is a laptop that you reinstall Vista second-hand:

Vista recovery media obtain and/or use the Partition Recovery Vista on your computer to the factory settings .

There is no Vista free download legal available.

Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.

See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.

Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...

Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.

Also ask them if it is possible to do the recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

They will tell you how to do this.

Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.

Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, Acer, recovery disk/s etc).
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.

There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.

If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

  • System Update Readiness Tool Vista installation error - error: "the parameter is incorrect."

I have a virtual machine running Vista. I need to update with the SP1 and SP2 for Vista and the VS SP1.

I have downloaded and saved the 3, but when I tried to install SP1 for Vista I got an error that says I need to run the Vista system update tool. I downloaded the analysis tool, but when I tried to install it on the virtual machine is a mistake here:

    "The parameter is incorrect."

    There was no error number.

[It is ironic to get an error during the installation of software that is supposed to fix the errors of installation...]

    What should I do now?

    Hi MeProgrammer,

Temporarily disable the antivirus software on the computer as a test and try to install the update and check if this is useful to fix the problem.

If disabling the antivirus software works, then you need to configure the same so that it does not disturb. Please contact the software vendor for assistance in this regard.

    Warning

Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Additionally, make sure that you download and install the correct version (32-bit or 64-bit) system from the link below for Windows Vista Update Readiness Tool:

It is a copy of a publication in the field of technology, I did. If this isn't the appropriate forum, let me know where to post. Thank you.

I'm having a problem. I am trying to copy a. DAT file to a VCD on my hard drive. This particular file is between 600 and 650 MB. When you try to copy the file, I get the following error message: cannot copy AVSEQ01: the parameter is incorrect

There are two others. DAT files on the CD that I am able to copy, the most important of which is only 13 MB.

I'm on a Win XP SP3 update. Readers to that I copy are NTFS.

The last time I had a similar error I was copying MP3 to DVD files on my hard drive. I found myself finally Mac sister to borrow and copy the files to an external hard drive.

  • Error code; The parameter is Incorrect

My operating system is "Windows XP Home." I tried to print a multitude of photos using the "Photo Print Wizard." When I click the link icon in the "picture and Fax Viewer", I get the error code; The parameter is Incorrect. The wizard does not open. I noticed that the icon in the 'Control Panel' folder has changed and the name is 'File' rather than 'printers and faxes '. I made every effort to change, including to remove and reinstall my printer but nothing helped. I can't delete the file or find the root of this folder in 'windows '. It seemed to me that the path of the file has been changed due to a change of name of this file in the path. However, I can still use a printer installed by other software to print. By the way, when I reinstall any printer, I do not see the printer in this file but it always says 'File' in the 'control panel '. The shimgvw.dll file is registered correctly as I can tell. If I try to launch 'Photo and Print Wizard' from the link on the left in the "Control Panel" itself, I just get a beep for error but no error code. The wizard does not start. This wizard is a very important tool to print multiple selections at once. I havn't used in awhile, so I don't know when it is first of all changed. Any thoughts?, anyone? Is there another install name of the package in the wizard to reinstall it from Microsoft?

    THIS WILL SOLVE THE PROBLEM

    1. Click Start> run type REGSVR32 photowiz.dll click OK

NOTE: leave a space between the two.

    FACT!

This will re - save the "TheAssistant printing photographs"and it will work from the folder 'My pictures'.

    * However, this does not resolve the question "renaming" of the file folder in the 'Control Panel', 'printers and faxes '.   That remains a mystery, I hope I can solve.

    2. If you are unsure if you have this module, DO a SEARCH using the search tool in the "Start Menu".

    3. If the search shows nothing in the directory... (drive letter) \Windows\System32, and then search the directory(drive letter)\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386, Scroll to module; photowiz.dll and 'Copy and paste' to your windows folder directory as described above. Depends on your drive letter on which you originally installed "Windows XP". It is usually a letter'C'.

    5. If you had to 'Copy and paste' this module in your operating system folder. Then, you must re-register the above method module.

  • Trying to open Bacup and restore: "an internal error has occurred. The parameter is incorrect. (0 x 80070057) »

When I first set up the option to Backup and Restore to backup some documents (only) on an external hard drive, I got the error message "an internal error has occurred." The parameter is incorrect. (0 x 80070057). Then when the clock reaches the designated backup time, the computer actually perform the backup. But now I am unable to open the backup center and restoration of anyway, so I can't adjust the time, I can not restore or select other files to back up. I simply do not have access to the backup and restore options. I always get the "an internal error has occurred." The parameter is incorrect. (0 x 80070057)" whenever I try. So I still can not turn off the current backup parameter, which is set to back up every night at midnight.

    Hello Tjohanne
Please write to the Microsoft Forums.

This problem can occur because of a bad sector at the end of the volume that you are trying to save.

However, as a workaround, you can try the following methods:

(A). if you save the backup files in the first 750 GB hard drive, you can save the backup files in the second hard drive 300 GB with the letter E to test this issue. However, if you save the backup files to the second hard disk 300 GB with letter E first, you can try to save the backup files in the first 750 GB hard drive with the letter C or D.

Run (B). disk check to check the hard drive
Note: Please make sure that the DVD DRIVE is the first boot device.
    1. Insert the DVD of Windows 7 and restart the computer.
    2. when we are asked to press a key to boot from the DVD, please press enter or the SPACEBAR.
    3. click on 'Next' and then click 'repair your computer '.
4 Please, highlight 'Windows 7' and click 'next '.
Note: A computer can store multiple copies of Windows 7. Please highlight the one that is experiencing problems. The order of the elements in the dialog box is identical to that on the start menu.
    5. in the dialog box titled "System Recovery Options", click on "Command Prompt" and type the following commands. Please press ENTER after each command.

    C:
    CHKDSK /R

Note: Please replace "C:" with the actual drive letter of the system drive on which Windows 7 is stored.
    6. Please let me know if an error is detected.

    C. now use another backup tool to check if you can back up files on the computer correctly.

    It may be useful

  • "The parameter is incorrect" Error Message is displayed on the computer

I'm running Windows 7 Home Pro on an Asus laptop and recently decided to add my old printer USB, HP Oficejet v40, to our network via a print server, LPR Networking USB wireless home. The Installer seems to fill correctly, and my printer appears in the list of available network printers (I alone). However, when I try to print wireless, I get one or more error messages. The first and the most persistent are: a StartDocPrinter call was not issued. Sometimes (not always) this is accompanied by another popup error: the parameter is incorrect. In each case, the document I am trying to print is no longer in effect. My USB utility Server network sometimes prints, and sometimes it is available. Running the printer troubleshooter cannot correct the problem (s) and always results in the following error: printer HP Officejet V40-P05d0443eb can be contacted via the network. If I connect the printer directly to my laptop, USB port, it prints as expected.

The print driver is up-to-date. I tried to uninstall and reinstall the printer and print server and have also tried to reset the print server and the router, to anything will do. Any help to fix these problems is greatly appreciated!
