Is microsoft now forcing me to chose Bing or Linux?

OK, so I'm updating using XP on this machine, but it does what I want with no hover and no bar charm.

  • FIXIT GETS 16977921-2147023836 ERROR CODE

After I recovered my system, I spent the last month download stuff against MS.  In desperation, I tried the FIXIT.
It gets the error code: 16977921-2147023836 and help it.

I can't most install .NET FRAMEWORK 2.0 and its SP 1 thereto.  The last attempt was an error: '.. ". "or something like that.  Trying to get the levels of software to match, I installed a gazillion iterations of F.. NET here's what's on my system poor and tired:

MS XP Media Center Edition (it gets errors all the time and I would delete it, if I were brave or more stupid that I am).
    Version 2002
    Service Pack 3

    THAT IS TO SAY 8.

    .NET framework:
    1.0 hot Fix
    1.0 (KB2742607) security update
    1.0 (KB2833951) security update
    1.1

    Pack 4 mult-target

When it comes to Media Center that gets consistently errors:

    IN SUMMARY:
My goal is to get the crazy 'a security update for Windows XP (KB973768) before I become.  All these other facilities were in a floundering trying to heal
    This failure.
I hope that there is enough detail to give a clue as to where the bat to someone hurt.
Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

    Roger,

If you have installed .NET 3.5, then you already have the layers of version 2.0 and 3.0 since 3.5 is based on previous versions. It just adds new features each time.

  • There are 35 updates of security that fail to install. I tried many solutions on your Web site and none of them helped.

    The following updates were successful: KB2633870, KB2656351, KB2518870, KB2572078, KB2487367

I tried Microsoft Fix; I tried to kill .NET 2.0 and then installed .NET 4.  Nothing works.  Suggestions?

The error message was that the update has not been installed.
    I have 3 SP.
Method 1 has not helped (I had done this many times before).
I did the boot, but it does not solve the problem either.
I have tried microsoft update web page of microsoft and, when updates failed, looked at the results.  When I clicked on every failure in the list, I saw the error codes for the first time: they were all the same: 0 x 80070017.  When I looked this error code, I was told to run chkdsk/f.  That solved the problem.

Thus, while the proposed solution has not resolved the problem, he took me on a path that eventually made and I'm VERY grateful for the time that was taken to help me.  Thank you very much!

  • Windows Update offers me a few old updates, is there a way to track and organize the installation of update history?

    Original title: update windows

I am regularly offered 'old' updates for installation, for example, KB2487367 published 05/08/2011. Is it possible to copy my Windows Update history file to an Excel file? I could then sort by number of update and avoid download/installation of the old updates. Or better yet, is there a historic Windows Update file that is already sorted by number of update?

Yes, it was installed successfully (according to the history of the update). No indication that it was available on resetting for several days. I went through my entire history of update to see if/when it has been previously installed. It is not a major concern for download and install. Am I better turn off just the download of 'important' updates offered by Microsoft? He done wrong to "re-download"?

If you install, you may need it.  You only * need * to install critical / security updates really.

If the update installs correctly and not is not offered on several occasions "burst" - there is no harm in just letting Windows Update just "doing his thing"...
