  • Have a Windows update and my screens are all screwed up now, Please HELP!

I am running Vista Home Basic and day before yesterday when I rebooted my computer, a Windows update itself installed. He said he was installing 1 of 1 files. I knew the idea of what the update was for, but when I brought my system to the top of the screen and all open windows, including web screens are all strange and almost hourglass like? I tried to restore my system to three times, tried to adjust resolutions and even settings on my old monitor and nothing works. It also seems that all icons and things are a little bit bigger and I don't see anything on the left and the right of my screen. Can someone help me? The only thing that seems normal is the password screen that appears when I turn on my computer before I get to my home page? Any ideas?

    Hi PVneedshelp,

    Welcome!

I suggest that you try to system restore to the point before you install the update by using the Windows vista installation disc.
To use the Windows recovery environment, you must have the Windows Vista or Windows 7 installation disc. To start the Windows recovery environment, follow these steps:
1 put the installation disc in the disc drive, and then start the computer.
    2. press a key when you are prompted.
Note If your computer is not configured to start from a CD or a DVD, see the documentation provided with your computer. You may need to change your computer's BIOS settings. For more information, see BIOS: frequently asked questions.
    3. Select a language, a time , and monetaryand a method of keyboard or input and then click Next.
    4. click on repair your computer
    5. in the dialog box System Recovery Options, click the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next
In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click System Restore to restore the operating system to the restore point created when the program or the driver has been installed.

If the previous step fails, then I suggest that you uninstall the display adapter driver that is present on the computer and then install the latest driver for graphic map of the manufacturer's Web site and check if it works very well.

You must be logged on as administrator to perform these steps.
How to uninstall a computer device driver.
    1. open the Manager of devices by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking system and Maintenance, and then clicking device Manager. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    2. in Device Manager, look for the device you want to Update, and then double-click the nameof the device .
    3. click on the tab driver , then click Uninstall and follow the instructions.
Once the uninstall is complete, restart the computer and then install the driver to view CAD that you downloaded from the website of computer manufacturer.

Also suggest to run Windows updates and make sure that you install the availability.

    1. open Windows Update by clicking the Start button, all programsand then click Windows Update.
    2. in the left pane, click check for updates, and then wait while Windows searches the latest updates for your computer.
    3. If updates are found, click install updates. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

  • Wireless card doesn't work after Windows Update

I have a Compaq Presario F730US with Vista. I have installed Windows Mobile Device Center on it, and the computer has stopped recognizing wireless card. Then, after trying to restore the original drivers and do several other things, I have done restore the computer originally installed at the factory.  The wireless worked well.  However, as soon as I updated all Microsoft Updates and before installing Windows Mobile Device, the wireless card no longer works again.  I restored the drivers, and it worked the first time.  Then a few other updates came through, and I can't get working again.  Any suggestions?  It's a Broadcom Wireless card. I saw that a gentleman has been upgraded for its presario to Windows 7 and had the same problem on another post and never had resolution.

The normal rule is to never accept update from Windows update device driver.

    Always bring the manufacturer.

  • USB mouse and keyboard stop working after I have install Windows Update KB2913431

After installation automatic Windows Update KB2913431 (Win 7 Enterprise), the computer seems to work very well, but my mouse and keyboard stop working.  The option of automatic repair after that start with F8 does not work.  He said that the error is "unspecified".

The fool is that it has created a constellation of intermittent problems when I try other options to get these devices to function after the update.  The questions I will of unpowered USB ports, grateful Windows and install the drivers for USB devices, but then do not recognize their (and are not), random BSOD, restore points invalid system, random boot failure, which causes discs to randomly stop working properly, closed randomly , à... I think you get the idea.

I think it must be a driver problem.  I passed through the Device Manager and uninstall all hidden devices.  I have updated the drivers for everything that has an update available.  I tried to disable all, but Microsoft services at startup and in the list of "services".  I've always been unsuccessful; However, when I can get it to successfully restore to a point before the update (none of the automatic restore points work correctly) it seems ok.  It will sometimes seem to work after I applied the update, but then go haywire shortly after.  I am convinced that it is not a hardware problem, given that the prior update restores (when they actually cross without failure) work very well.

I went through countless articles in the knowledge base and tried all the suggestions I've seen, other than registry cleaners because I had a bad experience with this earlier.  I tried so many things that I lost count and the memory of some of them.

I reached point is never install the update (an option that I prefer not to use) or creating a clean Windows install on another drive (an option that I prefer not to use, but I'm a little more friendly to).  I already started to back up files to prepare a clean install, but I reach out one last time before I pull the trigger.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions you have!

  • My laptop doesn't have a Windows 7 key on it

The warranty of my Pavilion G7 - 2017CL missed October 2013. The other day, I decided that I was not satisfied with his performance and being in IT, has decided to start with a clean install of Windows.

First issue: couldn't reboot into Recovery...

Second question: started on my repair disc when the grantor a back and it worked, I did, was able to reinstall Windows... except... when he arrived at the point of asking my activation key for Windows 7, I searched on the laptop, but there is no sticker anywhere to be found. I checked the battery compartment and all...

If I had not already formatted, I would just get a program to get my key for me, but, unfortunately, is long gone. Next thought was to use my backup recovery, that I had created shortly after the first it is... Negative... can't locate those... and the repair disk, I had in hand was actually from a backup of my work computer. At this point, I can install Windows but cannot activate. Who should I contact? HP and pays for them to tell me so much? Microsoft so that they can tell me it's an OEM license and that they cannot do anything for me? * sigh *... long night... Anyone got any experience or suggestions on this?

  • brick x120e - doesn't have a BIOS update

    Hello

I tried to update the BIOS of my x120e (0596-2RU) of Windows 7, it got stuck (no progress for more than half an hour), now the laptop is brick (the screen does not light; there is no beeps, just the fan is activated).

I think I followed all the instructions (fully charged battery etc.), but here in Ireland, said customer service failures updated BIOS are not covered by the warranty (unlike what say some people on these forums).

    What are my options now?

    Thank you very much!

    rufus82, welcome to the forum,

I would suggest that you contact support again and again ask a fix under warranty so once you get no satisfaction, you should simply state that you are not satisfied and wish to register a complaint, the CSR will be able to do it for you.

Please be sure to note the name of the CSR you speak and also request a call number, the phone number might be useful at a later date.

  • EA4500 doesn't have a firmware update?

Due to a new internet connection and router free (Fritzbox... very decent) my new ISP, I got the idea to stop using us as a bridge on the floor of the seconds of my house and the EA4500 as my main router. I connected it connected to my PC and I saw there was a possible upgrade for the firmware... might as well.

By clicking on the button upgrade was not really successful, there is a status bar not go/improvement for about 5 minutes, so I dropped that one. Downloaded the right file here: http://www.linksys.com/us/support-article?articleNum=148385 and downloaded one manually, improved status bar and I got the message the router has been reset. Sweet, I thought... but alas the router has not been handed over in line and the port light keeps blinking. Waited for about half an hour before trying to remedy.

    Tried so far:

    1 soft reset

    2. hard reset

    3. power off, wait a few minutes, hard reset again

After the above, still only a flashing light to port. Any ideas?
