Hi all, when trying to install KB968930, towards the end, and like its doing the up-to-date register I get an access denied error dialog box then it uninstalls.  I tried as admin (run as) etc., log files that I include extracts, this seems to indicate that it is the registry. I googled and spent days trying to solve this problem, and here's what I tried.  I am unable to continue the migration until this update is installed.

I check the permissions on the hklm > svchost key

I tried to reset administrator rights in all domains on the server

I used process monitor to try to pinpoint the location at which it fails, but it does not show access denied entry.

I looked through all the files, newspapers and google the error messages as described below.

I enabled the logging of the installation also.

I have windows vista and when I try to install update KB968930, I get the Windows Update error code 8E5E0147. Nothing seems to fix this error. Any suggestions?

    Hello

There could be various reasons for the updates to fail. No matter what security software installed on the computer may crash or services related to the programs installed on the computer. Also if there are corruptions in the files\folders related to Windows updates.

Reset update components would actually try fixing the part of corruption by recreating these files and also to re-register the files necessary .dll (Dynamic Link Library).

Some users corrected this problem by resetting the components of windows updates. Try these steps and check the result.

Temporary disable the firewall/security settings and check if it makes a difference.

  • Vista 64 will not install KB968930; PowerShell 2.0 and WinRM 2.0

I just installed a bunch of updates on a home premium 64 bit Vista computer.  They have all been successful except one.  One is KB968930, update the power shell 2.0.  It is a failure with the error code 80070483.  When I watched the errors listed by right click on my computer and select manage, I found several event ID 30, 38 and 26.  They all had the same explanation; the file tmpE311.vbs could not be executed because .vbs was not associated with a program.  I checked and it is.  Installation always brings the same error message.

How can I solve this problem.

    Ben Dutton

    I finally found the answer.

There was an update of windows in 2011 which had the same number of KB968930.
After it has been deleted. the new version installed.
