KB974112 security update is not installed

I'm having difficult installation security Updaye KB974112 on XP SP3.

I recently spent an afternoon update of PC that had not been used for several weeks with what seems like 1001 Windows & other hardware & software updates going on without any problem.

This patch however keeps asking to be reinstalled.  It gives no error message or of omission, justs asks to be installed, whenever I start the PC.

Any ideas?

Hello

You must not worry, allows to try and create a Restore Point to go back to the point where it was working fine in case something goes wrong. Attentio try method 1 to reset Windows components, which is very Important before download the standalone update

To create a manually restore point:

3. click on the tab System Protection and then click on create.

4. in the System Protection dialog box, type a description, and then click on create.

For more information on Ctreating a Restore Point, see: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Create-a-restore-point

Access the link below and run repair to reset the Windows Update components on your computer. Try to install the updates.

5 rename C:\windows\System32\Catroot2 Catroot2.old.

6 open the C:\windows folder, and then rename the folder C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution as SoftwareDistribution.old.

7. at the command prompt, type net start cryptsvc, and press enter

8 restart the computer in normal mode

9. run updates and check if you are able to get the updates without any error.

Try to download and install it manually by downloading on your desktop and install it. Insert the number to get the good update and choose the one corresponding to your version of Vista: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/default.aspx

If this does not work, try a boot minimum http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135.  If the problem goes away then it's just a matter of tracking down the culprit at the origin of the problem.   Follow the procedures described in the article.  Once found, remove, delete, disable or uninstall.  Once remember to put Vista in normal status, as described in the procedures. • KB2686509 security update will not install 0xf0f4 error code

After downloading Microsoft security update for Windows XP (KB2686509) update will not install - what should I do?

I struggled with this for days. Here's what was going on and what I did that worked.

faultykeyboard.log listed 24 entries of the form kb*.kbd

I searched and no such files exist on my computer.

By running regedit and looking, I found 24 subkeys appearance abnormal corresponding to the list in:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/Keyboard Layouts

After carefully reviewing the risk of damage, I discovered that the operating system automatically restore this section of the registry in the event of a boot failure.

I deleted then boldly all subkeys of the *.kbd type in the registry. I deleted faultykeyboard.log. I rebooted then ran the KB2686509 update and installed and restarted the computer.

    The problem disappeared.  Everything works.
