keep Windows update install 'kb2518864' / 'kb2572073' / 'kb2633880' repeatedly

Original title: windows update keep installation kb2518864/kb2572073/kb2633880 since this morning

The event viewer displays messages that says that each is installed successfully, but they do not appear in the list of "Add or update the program" in the control panel and immediately after it tries to install the 3 again and again. (each of them seeks to update .net framework 2.0sp2 or 3.5sp1)

BTW, I'm under XP Pro SP3 with all latest updates.

It seems that MS has solved the problem, all of a sudden the yellow reminder icon disappeared at the bottom of the screen. A number of people has the same reporded at the end of this thread.

1450 EDT

It seems to have been corrected here too well, even without emptying the memory cache update.  Just all of a sudden the icon "updated pending" went.

I'm having the same problem that appears that many others have also. After several attempts, I can not install these updates; KB257073, KB2518864 and KB2633880. During the installation, the ' full install"appears." I check my Add/Remove programs and updates are not listed. I then checks the Windows Update site to review my update history and they are listed as successfully installed.  As I see in other posts on this problem, everyone seems to get a error code when they check their editing history, which is different from my problem and the reason that I submit this post. Others have the 'code error' issue also?

May 22, 9:40 pm PDT: it is always the case. Under XP SP3 automatic updates.  The update status of success every time.  Seven times since lunch for KB2572073.  Update icon is and more!  Hate to ignore it, but really!  How to determine if there is a new valid refresh, without launching the update sequence?

I have followed several threads on this. I get no error messages.

I uninstalled all .NET framework that would allow the pc, following the instructions.

I ran that MS fix it to the tool. Not to sort the problem.

I ran CNettoyez on 'find and fix registry problems. He said "found and corrected all.

I restarted and run MS update that lasted 1 updated, and then the same three updates always appear!

This kind of problem cannot be only with these updates, but many many others and for years!

I installed Windows updates through update automatically.  He finished and I rebooted the computer, but when it restarted, yellow shield was still on the Board.  I clicked on it, once again and installed the same updates.  I went to Windows update and installed from there he compoleted and said success but icon is always on trayy.  I don't see these updates in Add/Remove.  Besides I have SP # and I'm not sure why I get these updates.

  • Microsoft Update continues to request updated KB2518864, KB2572073, KB2633880, after that install and says it's successful. I tried to install 4 times.

I tried to install the update of the files KB2518864, KB2572073, KB2633880 four times after whenever I would say it was well built. When I went to search for files to delete files before you try to download the files again and reinstall it using the Add/Remove on my Windows XP SP3, I was unable to locate the files. The only way I found to fix this was to remove the registry entries manually using regedit and use the file search feature and delete the files I found manually so. Then I had to update windows to inform instead of automatic download. I tried the Fix Center file also although did not. I can't locate these files to download on either windows update page.  If these files exist and need to be installed then I expect that Microsoft's COMPUTING service get this fixed a problem. My computer is a home based upon a business Edition step.

I read many forums and tried many bugs, (even the Fixit Microsoft Mr.).  I'm not too technical and refuse to try some of the fixes that had me past and make changes to the registry without knowing exactly what I'm doing.  I know that a small error in the registry can mess up my enitre system.

    When you disable Antivirus:

Important note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

  • KB2518864 KB2572073 KB2633880 offered several times updated

I updated windows today 22/05/2012. I did this by clicking on the yellow shield at the bottom of the screen. I let it run for a while, a display open and he said 'close this window' that i made. He said not to restart the computer, but I did it anyway. When I restarted the shield was still there. I went to the windows update home page and look for the updates. It gives me the same, so I have to the low load them again. This time it says to restart the comp. when I checked after re-start, they had updated twice with ticks by them as fact. can you tell me ' is it safe to leave it as what ' or should I remove a set of updates... If yes how. Thank you.

    Hi MR. B95,

You can read the following article and see if it helps.

Troubleshooting Windows Update or Microsoft Update when you are repeatedly offered an update

    Hope this information is useful.

  • Windows Update installed even updated 9 times...

the one who caused all the questions, this month. I can't see my update history, not the update actually work now, gives me the same error over and over again. Tried the Mr.Fixit... no good, sent in the request response support live. Research various fix solutions, but none seems really work. I just want the answer: not looking here or click here to access: I tried all those and none have worked.

If you can help a lot! and thank you! The update that accompanied the update of Silverlight for as well.

I have more answers. Sorry, I couldn't help

I recommend to resubmit your message here:

Visit the Microsoft Solution Center and antivirus security for resources and tools to keep your PC safe and healthy. If you have problems with the installation of the update itself, visit the Microsoft Update Support for resources and tools to keep your PC updated with the latest updates.

  • Windows Update: KB982168 and KB982524 are repeatedly offered

Updates keep reappear after you restart the computer. They appear as successful in the history of the update.

Tried the fix .net and reinstalled .net framework 3.5 SP1, but still no joy.

    Isn't dangerous to hide?

No, they are both optional, no security updates & your computer will be perfectly 'safe' without them. If you install an application that is based on the .NET Framework version 3.0 SP2, v3.5 SP1 and/or SP2 v2.0 later, the application will install them for you. ~ Robear Dyer (PA Bear) ~ MS MVP (that is to say, mail, security, Windows & Update Services) since 2002 ~ WARNING: MS MVPs represent or work for Microsoft
