• HP Pavilion Elite HPE-510 t - two monitors?

  Hello forum!

  For work I'll put up a brand new, out-of-the-box, desktop Pavilion Elite HPE - 510 t series, and I'm supposed to put up with two monitors. The monitors are both monitors HP 21 "(not sure model number, but pretty sure this info is irrelevant.) Both monitors have a DVI and a VGA output each.

  The problem is... I don't know if the computer can get out to two monitors. I mean, I think it can its such a new computer and the plug about it being very respectable. But at the back of the system, the only entries that I see are:

  1 HDMI

  1 DVI

  assortment of 6 audio inputs (speaker, microphone, etc.).

  1 Ethernet

  4 USB PORTS

  and something audio optical

  But there is also what appears to be two locations that are "closed" for lack of another word. One is what appears to be a DVI input but with a screwed in black plastic piece. I guess I should remove the plastic and it would be an another DVI but on the plastic was the words "DO NOT REMOVE" so I left alone. The other location is what seems to be a HDMI slot with a black piece of plastic glued to the front.

  The computer is capable of ouputting to two monitors?

  There's a HMDI.  Use a HMDI on DVI connector.  Not very expensive.  Make sure you have the right sex on each end or cable/connector.  See the Big Dave det-related article it upward.

  Firefox does not appear certain things. For example, the area around the text, the above options (bold, italic, type inserting a link - I can see what they are just by moving the mouse pointer in the approximate area and reading the small text that appears). Other things, that it does not appear - the word 'Google' when I opened the page of search engine, icons in eBay. On eBay, when I log in, the words "sign in" appear as 2 different fonts superimposed on one another, both in black. In Internet Explorer, it appears as white text on a blue background and is quite readable. Now that this description has reached the length where the scroll box is needed, the scroll box appeared, but there is still no box around the text. Underneath, there is a box to a drop down menu ("what happened"), but not for "began when this" or "troubleshooting information. I don't know where to put the cursor to find these areas because it turns into a bar I when I'm in the right place. The really funny thing is: only, it has that way about my logon - works of fine wife! (Work that one!) It all started when I was running version 3.8.5 (I think it was). I downloaded version 4 hoping he could solve the problem, but it didn't. I uninstalled and reinstalled, but the problem is still there. I have several months now (I think - at least 2 months) while the computer was turned off and rebooted several times, without effect.

I use a Kensington Valuoptical USB mouse. I tried the alternative kensington mouse and had the same problem. Can someone tell how to fix this?

• Missing labels of power management on the external keyboard, wireless mouse, wireless mouse, all different brands

  On my laptop HP HDX18 only the touchpad and keyboard have power management tab to enable them to wake the computer.

  My external keyboard of Firefly, wired Kensington mouse and Logitech wireless mouse all have not the power management tab. I wrote to Logitech about this and they said that I needed new ACPI/USB drivers. I installed the latest Intel chipset drivers I knew from the updated HP drivers website.

  HP told me that it is normal, current is cut for USB hubs. Which is ridiculous. I have disenabled the selective suspend for the USB ports under settings in Device Manager and power went to each USB hub and unchecked "allow the computer to turn off the power of the device", which can be the meaning of HP. I have the latest version of the BIOS. But still no power management tab is displayed.

• Windows 7 Starter Edition ignoring newly plugged in USB 2.0 optical drive

  .. .and I try 'plug & play' the next optical drive...

  Blu - Ray Burner laptop Samsung SE-506CB/RSBDE (USB 2.0)

What is completely ignored.  I tried to put disks in there - the drive open and close and spin upward, as you would expect, but it is completely ignored by Windows!  Plug the USB cable produces no response - not even in the Device Manager.  USB plug & play works great on other things, like drives flash, mouse, etc., but not on this.

  It's the third optical drive to external USB 2 I've tried.  The first two were a lesser specification, and I picked up their very cheap, so I thought "you get what you pay for", right?  The first was dead as a stiff - it has absolutely nothing, so I threw.  The other triggered at least detection code plug-and-play USB, which is supposed to install automatically - but he did not install correctly in the end.  After trying and trying... and leave it plugged during the re-booting, etc...  All to nothing does not.

  So I decided to buy this last Blu - Ray USB external hard drive (which cost more than twice the two other combined!) thinking this will surely work correctly at least.  But Windows 7 does not yet seem to shake hands with her!

  I was fine it and found it very informative.  Some of the avenues I had already tried, and some I consider even earlier.  I'll keep your answer and refer to it if I have a similar problem again.

  But, alas!  The case seems to have fixed itself somehow the new optical drive has finally been detected and I've been able to tell, it is fully functional!  I'm still trying to understand what I did to make it work.  What I did (in response to a suggestion that I've seen in a community post on a related topic) was to download a few utility programs (DevManView and USBDeview) of Nirsoft.com and run them on my system.  I then connected the optical drive via its microUSB cable once again and - Lo and behold! -He was there, and I was running!  Common sense would thought he could not have been the utility programs that makes the disc visible.  So all I can think is that maybe the USB cable not had not been connected properly when I tried earlier.  I remember try several times, and the Clank of the connection about to ensure that she was sitting properly.  But it was not only detect.  Maybe there are 2 'stages' or 'steps' to this type of connector, because (I'm not sure), but it could have a little more deeply he did before and more firmly in place.  I can't just be sure - and now I'm almost worried to disconnect in case he stops working again!  It makes me feel like a fool, if this is really the cause of the problem.  But it's weird, because the road turned upwards before and LED to this subject was the lighting, but it was as if she wasn't there that Windows is concerned.
