  Good afternoon

  I've had this problem for a little while now, and it's very frustrating.
  At random intervals my system restarts without warning.  I disabled automatic reboot in system protection settings and I read through the knowledge found here articale Base: (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2028504).
  I'm not overclocking my system and I ran MemTest to check the system memory.  My PSU is a 500w unit and my use is much lower than that better than I can say (Asus P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3, i5 Intel 3450, Corsair 2x8GB RAM, WD 340 GB HD, writer HP DVD Writer, USB, keyboard, headset, WebCam and cooling mouse 5 fans).  All my fans are running, working properly and without dust (I blow them regularly).
  Windows is up-to-date and I updated all drivers (I think) that I can.  I also activated the dump of the kernel function in the settings of protection of the system and, for the moment, no dump file has been created by one of these events (13 in the last 7 days - 5 today).
  This error occurs at random intervals, even when the system is sitting idle in the middle of the night.  I left my system sit with a Linux Live CD, loaded up and haven't noticed it then, restart so I think that's not a loss of power kind of thing; very much seems to be some kind of problem with Windows and software drivers or the hardware I have.  It's extremely frustrating and I just want my system to work and not feel like I have to fight with it to do; Dare I say it makes little want a Mac (* ducks *).
  If anyone has any ideas, please help me.  I'm debating whether to pull my hair or throw the computer out the window.

  Your last sentence brought me to realize any of your recent unexpected reboots resulted in the production of a dump file.

  Most system failures result in a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) and creating a report dumpfile providing that the computer has been configured to create reports.  In a limited number of system failures no dumpfile is created. A report is generated when the computer is then started and logged in the system log in Event Viewer. The report is given a number of event ID 6008 and provides very little useful information, save that the cause is unknown and it took place at the date and time specified. . Another report is placed in the reliability monitor with a red ORB on the line from various failures and it is saved as a failure critical. Unfortunately, the technical details for this type of failure revealed no additional information.

  The most common causes of this type of failure that all relate to the power failure.

  These may be because:

  1. the user has pressed the Power On / Off button.

  2. a power failure or a loss of supply to the home or office where the computer is located. If that happens, it will be often obvious because electric lights are only other electrical devices turn off.

  3. a faulty electrical device on the same circuit that the computer or the computer triggers the slave switch or blow a fuse and shut it down for security reasons.

  4. the cable between the seizure of power and the computer becomes disconnected at either end.

  5. a power surge or a lightning strike occurs. Your computer needs to connect to a power supply without a break, which then connects to the power supply. If an incident occurs, you need to reset the power supply without a break. Without one of these units in place, a shot of lightning or power surge can damage the computer.

  6. a defective power supply. The best test here is to remove the existing power supply and replace it with a PSU that is well known with the same capacity. Most individuals do not keep a supply of alternative at hand.

  7. a power connector damaged or disconnected cable or the motherboard in the computer. You can check the cable is properly connected, but a damaged motherboard is not easily checked.

  8. If the computer is a laptop check if the battery can be fully charged, hold the charge and was or was not connected to a power supply when the failure occurred.

• Window 8 Pro blocks due to error Kernel Power event 41

  I upgraded my computer from Windows 7 Ultimate to Windows 8 Pro.
  My machine started crashing (BSOD equivalent) randomly and often.
  Watch the crash dump data (Event Viewer) and theses Win8 accidents result from 'Kernel-Power' (* event 41) error.
  Due to the absence of any information on the nature and the rectification of this event and error Kernel - Power, I had to assume that it might be linked to the power supply feeding the processor (or the kernel of Win8).
  My Windows 7 Ultimate has been solid as a rock and NEVER crashed.
  So I have to make another assumption that the problem is NOT with my hardware but the fault can be caused buy an aggressive CRS of the internal vote to the kernel of Windows 8 Pro.
  To confirm this hypothesis, I was able to reinstall Win7 [ty Acronis] an image already made before Win8 upgrade.
  Windows 7 DO crashed before installing Window8.  When I reinstalled Windows 7 BACK from an image, it always goes NOT down.

  My third assumption is that this BSOD is NOT related to my hardware or Windows 7.
  I've actually gone as far as my power ELECTRIC (Antec NeoPower 550) and PS (under load) test is strong, as indicated with the proper functioning of Win7, but NOT under Win8.

  A few additional tests indicated that I continually movies playing in the background, window 8 crash at all.
  I don't think this is the type of solution to this problem that I'm looking.
  I will continue to blame Windows 8 for this problem because my Antec power supply nor Windows 7 is at the heart of the problem.
  I also have a sneaky suspicion that this problem will not be solved anytime soon.
  But we can only hope someone can answer to these problems.

  I have the same concern on a clean install win 8 pro 64-bit. My system has been solid under win 7 ultimate, I slowed the speed down in order to see if it would make a little more stable but not lucky I'm on an X 58 chipset with a hexagonal base 12 CPU of xeon W3670 of ram raid hard gigas drives they were what I thought, that was the problem that has had a lot of corruption on some of the incidents very angry with what I think that This OS is not suitable for usage, I'll write in the negotiation of standards on this subject. but I think that Microsoft can get away with this because it is a license not a real thing.   My son has a Toshiba Satellite R10 P750 and problems of spontaneous closures.
  Looking at the system log, it is a 'kernel Power Event 41"for each occurrence.

  It happened several times today so now it's a major issue, but it's happened for the last 6 months (a total of 21 entries) but spread over time.

  My personal opinion is that you should back up all important data and reinstall the OS. It is certainly more radical method but also the most effective to solve these problems. After doing this you will own preinstalled OS and everything will be OK again.

• Whenever I try to make my sleep of laptop, it restarts. Perhaps 'event 41, Kernel-Power '.

  I was not able to find any forum messages from anyone who has this exact problem.  The server is plugged into an APC Smart UPS RT and has a charge about 50%, so a conditioned power is not a problem.  I looked at Dell Server Administrator and there is not on the server or reading errors that are inconsistent.

  Any help is greatly appreciated!  It will be a production server and I need space and running as soon as possible.

  These were related to scmndisp.sys which is a driver that is associated with a Netgear wireless adapter.  Yours is 2011 so I re - install the most recent driver available and update the following drivers

  We cannot tell you much more of the DMP, because it is not conclusive.  Once change you into a core DMP in Control Panel please download at least 2 DMP files.

  3 event errors are the same.  By chance I hear that the first accident was while I was surfing the net with IE8, it was the only common thing and 1 single tab - on yahoo.com.  The next crash I played Stalker through Steam.  And finally, when I had only Firefox running with 1 Tablet and I was not even touching the keyboard or the touchpad, I just read the screen, lol.

  I thought I found the problem, but it always stops at random.  I called HP and they said that it's probably the motherboard.  I think that's their standard answer if they have no idea what is the problem.  In any case, I have to send it back, I got it for Christmas.  Now I have to use my old laptop for several days.  I am not happy that nobody cares, have a good day.

• TS140 Power Kernal Crash &amp; Hyper-V

  Hi all

  I really hope to get some insight on this question. He had led me in the wall the past couple months and I can't seem to understand. So here I am hoping someone can help out me.

  The machine is a Thinkserver TS140, Intel Xeon processor E3-1225 @3 v3. 20 GHz, 20 GB of RAM ECC, 2 HDD RAID 1 C: and another 2 HDD RAID 1 for D:. I am running Server R2 2012 on this machine and it is fully patched. I use this server as a domain controller, DNS Server home and Hyper-V server.

  As a domain controller and DNS server everything works great. No problem at all. Can I leave the machine on for days, weeks, months etc without any hiccup in power. The problem occurs when I start my Hyper-v virtual machine. The virtual computer is running Windows 8.1 Pro, using 3 CPU and 4 GB of RAM. I use this virtual machine to execute the surveillance system for my home devices. It is not a lot of resources and uses only a fraction of the CPU and the RAM.

  That said, it is when I run in the "Kernel-Power" event ID number Sometimes, the virtual machine will run for a day or two without any problems, and all of a sudden the host (the Thinkserver himself) server restarts unexpectedly. On logging in and checking the log files, I see a kernel-power error read "the system has rebooted without stop properly first. "This error can be caused if the system unresponsive, crashed or unexpected power loss. On the Details tab, bugs of event data are all "0 x 0. There is not more information give me a suspicion of what might be wrong. There is no other event ID leading to the accident, indicating something that has happened right before that happens. Other times, the virtual machine will run only for a few minutes or a few hours before the server restarts automatically. There seems to be no rhyme or reason as to why this happens.

  Some things I've tried so far is new RAM. Which is a not seem to make a difference. I moved the server to a new outlet, on its own circuit to verify that there are no power problem going on with her. The new locations have not fixed it. One thing that I wonder is 280W power in the Thinkserver. This power could have enough 'juice' to feed my RAID drives and a hyper-v virtual computer simultaneously? Pourrait I need buy the 450W PSU? Could there be a firmware update there I need that could fix this problem? Y at - it a bug known in Hyper-V that causes this crash?

  I have spent months looking for solutions online, look for patches, etc.. Whatever it is possible to help and so far I had no chance. If anyone out there has ANY idea what could happen, I'd really appreciate your thoughts and ideas. If you would like more information on the problem or my setup, or would like to see the event ID, I'd be more than willing to send screenshots to discuss the matter further.   I think that I thought about it. Apart from settle to 1 core per VM, the other thing I did was last updated the driver to pass. It is the only driver that I couldn't immediately find and it seems to have fixed random crash. Between this update and lowering posibly cores per VM, the issue seems to be fixed.

  I've had my laptop for almost a year, but recently it has started crashing because of the power of the core - it's what it says in the papers of the events anyway.

  I don't know what is the cause, and I can't find my receipt from the shop, I bought to fix, because it must still be under warranty.

  The laptop gives me the dreaded Blue Screen Of Death when it crashes and it happens at least once a day, sometimes it will crash when I'm even not doing anything.

  The drive Self Test (DST) short error code would indicate that hard is defective and must be replaced.  It is also compatible with the kernel power error event you received.

  These accidents were related to the corruption of memory (probably caused by a driver).

  Run these two tests to check your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.  Launch auditor.  You need not run memtest again unless you want to.

  If you are overclocking anything reset by default before running these tests.
