key Windows 7 recovery

My computer crashed and is no longer viable. The sticker key that came with the computer is rubbed off and I want to use the software in a different computer. I have a ghost of the original disc image. Is there a way I can get the key to the drive if I restore it on another hard drive? The operating system is Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit

I found the key by running a vbs script. Just cut and paste the text below into a txt doc and rename it to findkey.vbs and double click on it and it appears on a small window. CTRL C will copy the text so you can paste it into what you want to save it.

Hello

Most laptops have the product key on a sticker on the bottom of the machine. If yours is not readable, you should contact Compaq support: http://www.compaq.com/cpq-country/cpq_support.html

You will not need to register your software. Good luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Crazy" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com Windows help - www.rickrogers.org

• Windows vista USB flash drive installation AND recover the WINDOWS KEY from the recovery disk

Hi all

I formatted my laptop some time ago. Now I want to reinstall windows vista (came along with my laptop). The thing is due to a problem that my CD drive does not work so I would like to install windows vista by using a USB key. Can you get it someone please let me know if this is possible... If Yes, how I've go ahead make a bootable USB.

As someone can tell me if there is a way to retrieve the WINDOWS KEY from the recovery disc.

Thank you.

Hello

This can help, but you will need a Vista system to create the working bootable USB key:http://www.askvg.com/how-to-create-bootable-usb-drive-to-install-windows-vista/

As for the product key, it should be on a sticker on the laptop (usually on the bottom). If it is not readable, contact the manufacturer for further assistance. As we said already, the product key is not on the installation disc.

Replace broken laptop optical drives is not too difficult, you can see this as another option.

• Satellite of C850-1HE Windows 8 recovery tips

Hello

I bought a C850 for son #1 who has installed a game (doubtful).
It seems that it has done something for the display driver to win 8; so on startup the screen becomes white. Pressing enter or other random keys produced a form of time-artifacts in time on the screen

I guess I'm looking for more help on recovery

I tried pressing f2 during power on, but can't seem to get into setting up so I can insert a disc windows 8 & restore to a system restore point - please can someone advise?

Thank you

I recommend checking this recovery of Windows 8 and documentation of repair.

[Windows 8 recovery & repair | http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB2A03ES0000R01.htm]

There are different ways to repair or recover the system Windows 8.

In my opinion for the moment 1rs you should try the "automatic repair" option which helps you to scans your files and settings, and if it detects a problem with any of them, it takes corrective action. No additional input is required.

Thank you very much

Hello

I guess you want to retrieve the computer laptop back to the factory settings.
To do this, you have two options:

(1) use the internal HARD drive recovery procedure:
Details here: [Windows 8 recovery & repair | http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB2A03ES0000R01.htm]

(2) you must use the Toshiba Recovery Media creator to create first recovery media (disk or key recovery USB flash Recovery)
Then start the laptop using this support would begin a new installation of operating system and would be to install the image of Toshiba. This image is already activated and needs no series keys.

• Key Windows for Satellite C870D - 11L

Hello

Before ordering the dvd of this laptop recovery because it has not been established in the start-up and the partition on the HARD drive no longer exists, I have a question that concerns me greatly.

Key Windows 8 for installation and activation of it is embedded on the dvd that we order?
Because I can find no Windows 8 key on the laptop or documents delivered with it.

Otherwise where normally located this key?
Because I didn't order a dvd if I have to buy a Windows 8.
Thanks in advance for your clarification of the future.

> Windows 8 key for installation and activation of it is embedded on the dvd that we order?
Yes. When you install original recovery image designed for your laptop model, you will have legal and enabled OS version.
> Because I find no Windows 8 key on the laptop or documents delivered with it.
You don't need it. It is implemented in the recovery image. You can install original recovery image 100 times and each time it will be correctly activated and you have OS version.
> Otherwise where normally located this key?
> Because I didn't order a dvd if I have to buy a Windows 8.
If you do not want to use the original installation disc of recovery, you can use the Microsoft installation disk but in this case, Toshiba has nothing to do with the activation. Valid product key, you must purchase from Microsoft.

If you have any other questions you are welcome.

Hello, Jeff

At first, I must say that it is not toshiba Help Center, but user forum created by Toshiba, so if you wait for the response from Toshiba people here you are in the wrong place.
In any case, in this forum, you can pick up some very useful information and a lot of people here can help you with your problems.

Return to described the issue.
Unfortunately you do not understand how it works with the product key and Windows Setup, so I'll try to help you with this.
Each computer toshiba laptop comes with preinstalled operating system (recovery image) and the product key at the bottom of your laptop belongs to this version. With other words: when you buy the new laptop, you have to pay for hardware, operating system and a license for this preinstalled OS. Product key at the bottom is not a kind of universal product key and cannot be used for activation of another version of Windows.

You can use the delivered Toshiba recovery disc that contains mage replicated several times and each time you will have activated the operating system. When you use the Microsoft disk for the installation of the OS you must have valid product key which belongs to this particular version.

In your case product key is for Vista, and you cannot use it for Win7 activation. This product key is... unnecessary.

If you have any other questions you are welcome.

• HP Jet Key Windows 7

I installed the Windows 10 Insider overview to my HP Jet 7 from a USB key. When the RTM has been released, I also installed it from a USB key.

10 Windows RTM requires a key (the preview of the Insider has never made). I obviously don't have a Windows 10 key, and since I upgraded from the preview of the Insider instead of Windows 8.1, I don't see why he couldn't find my key Windows 8.1.

I tried to roll back to 8.1, but my only recovery option is to repair/restore Windows 10, so I think that the preview of the insider or the RTM annihilated my recovery partition.

Of course, I paid for the OS when I bought the Tablet, then, what are my options?

The license key is actually stored on the card each flow 7 system, not in the 8.1 Windows with the recovery of Bing image.

• Windows Vista recovery disc

I can't load the Windows Vista recovery disks (3 in total). The Recovery Manager has not opened. I went up to step 3 only. I guess the restore disc (CD 1) failed.

Hello:

Sometimes the recovery disks do not work for one reason or another.

If you can still read all 25 characters of the Vista product key on the COA Microsoft sticker on the bottom of your PC, you can do your own Vista installation disc that should at least get an operating system reinstalled on your PC.

Here's how:

If you are in a fault light but rewarding you can do yourself if you can read your product key of Vista on the PC of 25 characters.

You just download the 3 files you need on the link below and read all the instructions to create a Setup bootable DVD disk using imageburn.

Do not take into account the part of the text in the first screen shot about "extract the files in the folder of Vista."

The files were extracted already in this folder when you ran the X14.exe file by reading the text on top of the first screenshot.

The other thing I noticed is on the 4th page, where it shows Developer ID Microsoft Corporation. I had to type Microsoft Corporation in me, and then the other codes already filled in.

When I went to compile the ISO file, ImageBurn gave a message on a WIM file, file and ISO, and if I wanted to burn it in a different format.

I selected no, make the ISO file.

It was not so hard to do. I burned both the disk of 64-bit and 32-bit disk in case I ever need them.

I tested both of them on my hp dc7100 CMT PC desktop computer, they worked perfectly.

When you enter the product key, he knows which version of Vista you have.

After you install Vista successfully, you can then install the drivers for your PC and driver page support.

Update: This is the new link to your own Vista installation media.

Click on the link below and then click on the link PDF Guide of reinstalling Windows.

Follow the instructions on pp 295-297.

• Envy 15 t: using a USB key as the recovery media

The instructions of assistant decision-making support, that the thumbdrive are not compatible with Windows 8 ?

The computer is a computer of Windows 8 (actually the 8.1). Recovery files would be (probably) 8.1 recovery of files.

However, it seems that the recovery thumbdrive must be compatible?

What I don't understand? ..... Izzy

Hi @Izzy11201 ,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A place where you can find solutions for your problems, with the help of the community!

I stumbled upon your post on the laptop and wanted to help you! I looked in your question about your TouchSmart from HP ENVY 15 laptop and issues using a USB key as the recovery media.

I think that the laptop it tell you that the Thumbdrive could not be formatted for all functions of Windows 8. It doesn't have to be 32 GB and is compatible to Windows 8 to create a recovery USB Flash disk. Here is a link to the creation of recovery disks or USB in Windows 8 flash player, if you need it.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.

• Windows Vista-> Windows 7 recovery problems

Hi all. First time poster here.

Product = Compaq Presario 5550f desktop computer. Windows Vista originally in November 2008, then upgraded to Windows 7 as soon as it was available.

I recently caught a virus and all through the elimination of the virus in my office stopped the start (I think I've damaged boot sector). Start diagnosis indicates a problem of disk (the disk scan did not complete). As I worked on it longer, I've lost the ability to enter the Recovery Manager with the F11 key at startup, so I can't erase and start over.

I pulled the hard drive, installed on my other desktop computer as a secondary drive and saved all my files (which I should have done before you start working on it...). Also tried checkdisk on the other computer and he "found and corrected errors. Installed in the original computer and still will not start. Tried the Vista recovery disc I made in 2008 and get a '0 x 4001100200001012' error when loading files of operation is completed. Did Windows 7 recovery disks, but from what I can tell the recovery partition is not get improved anyway.

One possibility would be to order HP recovery disks, but if those that I did does not work, do not know HP ones. I could reformat the partition C: to restore to another desktop computer, but makes me a little nervous. I can't find a way to force it to boot directly from the recovery D: partition in the installation program. What else can I try? Help!

Jeff

In the process of closing the computer after typing my post, the computer went into Manager recovery by itself. Maybe try to rerun the recovery discs did something? Anyway, wiped her clean and back on Vista now (it sucks as far as I remember) and on my way back to Windows 7.

My Dell laptop I have from 10th July indicates the following:

Windows error recovery

Start Windows normally

Hello mtb123,

1. have you tried the steps suggested by Srinivas R in the previous post to make a startup on your computer repair using the Windows installation disc?

2. you remember what changes you made to the computer before you start this error?

I suggest that you access the system recovery options using a Windows Vista installation disc and do a startup repair and if this fails, you can do a restore of the system from the Windows recovery environment.

You can see the previous post of Srinivas R to verify the information on the system restore.
