Keyboard and HARD drive change affect the warranty?

Hello

I need to find an answer asap & Toshiba CS are closed until tomorrow, but perhaps a little late for me.

I am looking to buy a Toshiba C75, which has about 6 months warranty left on it.

The seller said they bought the laptop in Switzerland when he's on vacation, but he like me are from the United Kingdom.

He said he changed the keyboard to a keyboard (qwertz) UK & also it changed the HARD disk of 1 TB to an SSD of 128.

The above affects it warranty?

Hello

Some parts such as HARD drive or memory are upgraded, user but the keyboard replacement isn t the scalable user and must be performed by the authorized service provider.

Therefore, it might be possible that the warranty isn't valid more due to the replacement of keyboard.

N ° it will not violate your warranty. If you get an error of this kind for the reason why your statement, it might be better to buy another hard drive. Use the recovery media that you must have to find your laptop to factory image State.

  • Replacement hard drive will affect my OS?

    (1) HP HDX16 - 1375DX, p/n NV033UA #ABA

    (2) Windows Vista (but windows sent a CD for Windows 7 upgrade for this laptop because Windows 7 was released a month after I bought the laptop)

    (3) Windows couldn't start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause.

    (4) no changes have been made. I only noticed that the witness 'busy' on my computer was on nearly 100% of the time. Literally, it would not stop blinking. Was no strange process on which may have caused it and my CPU usage was like 4 to 8%. I restarted my computer several times and noticed that even my computer loading took about 15 min.

After typing my password for logging on to windows, it took about 2 minutes to the 'Welcome' screen and spent about 15-20 min of loading of the computer upward after that.

Finally, after my 5th time perform a reboot it gave me the error message "Windows could not start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause immediately after reboot and it will not even more go to the login screen

I just did a hard drive self-test and it saidReplace hard drive, which means that even

My friend says my hard drive is finally dead. (His death too but it had a warranty from Bestbuy to take care of all this.) I do not have) so I think to buy a hard drive for the Amazon and installing it just myself.

How to replace my hard drive will affect my OS? Will I still have vista? My computer, bought from Bestbuy, never came with these "installation CD" I keep hearing people talk about. But windows has sent me "CD to upgrade" to windows 7.

Can someone tell me what to do?

Yes to replace the hard drive will affect the OS because the OS is on the hard drive. The hard drive is permanent storage and contains the programs and files you use every day. RAM (memory) holds the programs and files that are open on a computer running and only while they are running. RAM is off when you turn off the computer, the hard drive are not the case of the data.

Theoretically the disc of Windows 7 will run on a computer that has Vista installed. While HP does not give you a Vista restore disk, the computer has a program on what might have you a recovery disk which could be executed, and then run the Windows 7 disc. If you can borrow a Vista install disk you can use your key code to install Vista.

Your Windows 7 disc might actually work by itself. Worth a try. Here is a site that gives you a few instructions:

    http://www.winsupersite.com/article/Windows-7/clean-install-Windows-7-with-upgrade-media

I think you're going to need some major help here and we can certainly help you. The first thing to do is to get a hard drive. Best Buy sells and so newegg.com and I guess amazon.com. Let us know what you think of buying and the cost because the price of portable HDD vary a lot and if you're savvy, they are fairly cheap but you can way too expensive, too. You shouldn't pay more than $100 for the larger drive and the best available and you can get a perfectly good for more like $50.

  • Thermal paste change void the warranty?

I know what may seem like a stupid question but opening up a laptop to a vacuum of change (since the current seems to be terrible) guarantee thermal paste?

I wouldn't really take the laptop all the way to a service center because it is an operation I can easily accomplish on my own.

Yes, it will void the warranty. Support action that can be made by the owner of the laptop of RAM and HARD drive change. No more than that. Disassembly of the laptop should be done by authorized personnel only.

  • Hard drive replaced, but the recovery disc may not work properly

Oh here, my laptop (Acer Aspire 7730) will not start.

I believe that I made the correct recovery disks when I got the machine before he fell, but I recently replaced my keyboard and hard drive with the same components after damage was inflicted on my laptop and I tried to run the steps in Acer recovery since the restore disc 1. He seemed fine, but after installing the 2nd disc I have now "BOOTMGR is missing" "Press Ctrl + Alt + Del to restart" and cannot get it to load the backup that I did when the machine was working before-hand. I can get into setting up and see that the hard drive is now identified in the list of hardware (it was empty when the broken hard drive was still mounted), maybe someone can suggest some options to solve the my problem please?

I just checked the recovery disc 1 on another machine and found these folders and files on it...

    http://i812.Photobucket.com/albums/zz48/Vanguard_01/VistaBootdisc1.PNG

Is it possible that the backup that I did was for a specific hard drive, and because this HDD is different it won't find anything?

    Thank you

Hi Debleena5 and thanks for the suggestions, but I've reached the re-installation of the disc by using a bit 'out of the box' the thought process.

I bought a box 2.5 "SATA to connect to any computer via the USB port to try to get something on the corrupted hard drive, but this failed. I then removed my new hard drive (which began at start up OK, as I mentioned in the question above) and placed in the case and plugged into my Windows 7 laptop. Once he had run up to speed I started to explore to see what files (or even at all) had been transferred during one of my recovery disks. I've not found much until I changed the "do not show hidden files and folders check" save a file that has been locked after you change the permissions, I went further and ended at the request of then ran CHKDISK and of course he scanned my drive and found and corrected some errors very quickly. After that, I unplugged then I went back to my Vista laptop and re-inserted the new hard drive in the broken machine.

At this point, I was wondering if the disk drive on the machine may also have been damaged so I plugged a DVD player external via USB and changed the sequence to boot to the USB device. I started the laptop and the drive started to load the files and I could then complete the resettlement of these two disks and then to set up the machine as if I had just bought it.

I'm very relieved that I managed to sort it out and now I have to upgrade to Windows 7 on this laptop that I read on and seems easy. Just a shame I can't copy the installation of my 2nd, portable more recent.

    Thanks again,

    Vanguard_1

  • Satellite L70-A-139 - guaranteed zero when removing the cover for the RAM and HARD drive

    Hi all

    I have a Satellite L70-A-139 youcef.
And at the back of the laptop, there is a cover that is fixed with a screw.

Wil I void the warranty when I unscrew and take a look?
I want to upgrade my HDD to SSD.
The motherboard supports Sata III: D.

    Thank you!

No, the mandate must still be valid.
There is a removable cover at the bottom of the unit as shown here:
    [Toshiba Satellite C70 / C75 / C70D / C75D / L70 / L70t / S70 / HARD S70t drive replacement procedure | http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/CRU3703HG0000R01.htm]

Then you should be able to upgrade the RAM and HARD drive.
I think this info should be mentioned in the user manual too.

I upgraded my card mother cpu ram and hard drive. I reinstalled windows xp home edition has got all of the updates. After 9 latest updates download and installtion was going well until I rebooted the computer and go to page window showing all the icons that I get a blue screen and the computer restarts its self and does not stop. How can this be corrected?

    Hi KevinRy,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site!

    Unplug all external devices.

Try to start in safe mode. If you can start in safe mode, and then do a system restore to restore the computer to an earlier point in time.

Change the recovery settings to disable automatic reboot, if you are able to boot up to the desktop computer:

    1.

Right-click my computerand then click Properties.

    2.

    Click the Advanced tab.

    3.

Under Startup and recovery, click settings to open the Startup and recovery dialog box.

    4.

Clear the automatically restart check box, and then click OK many times necessary.

    5.

Restart your computer so that the settings take effect.

Now, when you are going to close and a fatal error occurs, you will see at least and it won't cause an automatic restart.

Please reply back with the error message you get because it helps us to resolve the error.

    Kind regards

  • Cursor flashing at the start of the system and hard drive not working do not on the other computer

Original title: I need help with my Hardrive

Recently I had problems with a hard disk of computers. So I'm going to give guys the full story, I fell on this computer, it's actually my mums computer and it had a blue screen at startup error. I'm sorry, but I don't remember that the error was called on the top of my head, basiclly I quikly searched online and alll they say should use fixboot. So I did and the computer booted Windows XP very well. So the next day, when I was starting the machine (just to let you know, it would be the first start since I used fixboot, other than the right after that, I don't know if it would make a difference).

In any case, while trying to start, there was just a slider, or as underscore that retain just flashing in top left corner. I thought that maybe I should reinstall windows on another partition so my files would be safe. I did it, the installation program had no problem with it, but when I booted up I got the same line of flashing underscore / cursor in the upper left corner.

I thought that maybe I should back up the hard drive using my other computer so I tried to plug in the hardrive in my work computer and the hardrive started to heat up and as if it worked but any hardrive was getting into my computer, I refreshed it, started the computer upward once again, nothing.

So my question is what is the problem with this hardrive and how I save? I'm ready to do anything, use the live CD, using another computer. I have precious moments of family on the hardrive.

    Thank you guys

    Hi Joemost,

As you have important data on the hard drive. We recommend that you contact the vendor of hard drive to diagnose hard drive or visit the nearest tech store to save your data.

There are chances that the boot files are missing on the computer and also you could have not connected the hard drive as a slave when you connected to the other computer. Once you have saved the data, you can repair the existing windows and check if it starts successfully.

Try these steps to repair install Windows XP:
    a. start the computer using the XP CD. You may need to change the boot order in the BIOS OF THE system for the CD starts before the hard drive.
    b. on the "Welcome" screen, press ENTER to start the installation of Windows.
    c. accept the license agreement and Windows will search for existing installations of Windows.
    d. Select the XP installation you want to repair in the list, press R to start the repair.
    e. the installation program copies the necessary files to the hard disk and restart.  Do not press any key to boot from CD when the message appears. Setup will continue as if it were a clean install, but your applications and settings are preserved.
    f. when the installation is complete, check if Windows starts correctly.
