Keyboard does not work properly

Hello

I had trouble getting my laptop satellite to initialize. Recovery disks & pressing F keys weren't working so I decided to open the laptop to see if there are any loose connections. To my surprise, the laptop seems to work again once I had the USB keys and put back them in! Unfortunately, before that I did, I opened the keyboard and peeked inside.

When I booted up and tried to use the keyboard keys half of their work and the other half seem to think that they represent two other keys for example if I type the letter 'E' I get '3' and '-' as a whole. After 5-10 minutes the entire keyboard will become totally unresponsive until I restart again. Of course, I think I've done something here because this problem since I opened the bottom of the keyboard. This could be a hardware failure I have caused or is anyway that this issue can be resolved without replacing anything?

Thank you very much

Tom

Hi Tom

Theoretically, it might be just a connection lost between the keyboard and the motherboard, but I'm afraid, it can be a serious problem of m.
Maybe you have damaged the connector of the keyboard cable or something similar, and not the keyboard does not work properly.

I think the keyboard needs to be replaced to check if only this part is affected

  • Qosmio X 70-A - keyboard does not work properly

    I have a Qosmio X 70-A-12N, newly purchased last September, 8.1 Windows 64-bit.

After working properly (and lots!) for half a year, the keyboard started to stutter.

If you type a paragraph or two, with say 250 words, each time and now, to say that every 10th or 20th Word (undpredictable), a key shot does not work. I tried another keyboard via USB: no problems, so it has to do with the built-in keyboard of Qosmio.

It is not specific keys, and it is not the pressure with which you press the key.
Any key can be be ignored from time to time.

All drivers have been updated to the latest questions, the BIOS is 1.50.

It seems that the problem is more important when working on the battery (not sure).

Is it a software or a hardware problem? Should the keyboard be exchanged?

My first thought was last updated from the BIOS, but according to the Toshiba download page you have latest version of the BIOS.
You know that's not easy to say what the problem is here. I can't say with certainty if there is a problem with the keyboard, but maybe you should contact the nearest Toshiba service provider, explain the situation and ask for help.

They know what needs to be done. at least, they have very good diagnostic tools and it is possible to detect the problem.

  • Keyboard does not work properly on the Satellite P100-465

    Hello
Toshiba P100-465, I bought last month and discovered that if you press any key sound (especially the SPACEBAR or enter) between the upper right, it does not work.
I never saw such a problem anywhere in any laptop. Please confirm if this is the case with all or should I get my keyboard replaced.

I read this forum for a long time and I have strength to find a lot of comments about it. Because of that I think he cannot be serious and I recommend you contact the partner of service authorized in your country.

By the way if you press the keys correctly (around using the button) I see no problem there but service can check properly and if problem described is a problem with the hardware keyboard will be replaced free of charge.

    Bye and good luck!

  • Tecra 540 CDT: keyboard does not work properly

    Hi people

Just bought a 540cdt Tecra second hand and the keyboard is a bit strange - A key does not work and some of the keys seem to make things weird-UPDATE prints an exclamation mark and key END operates caps lock etc. I don't know if it's a keyboard of knakckered or whether the same strange keyboard configuration has been made. If it's a flat keyboard will install a replacement to solve the problem?

Also, is it possible to replace the CD drive with a DVD - ROM drive. From the looks of it all DVD players I have met seem to be model specific.

    See you soon

    Peter

    Hello

Maybe your operating system has keyboard settings wrong country.
Check in the control panel settings. But for me, it looks more like a keyboard or a keyboard controller failure.
Perhaps also loses the keyboard cable.
I don't know if only a new keyboard will solve the problem. I think the detailed diagnostic test is necessary.
If you want to upgrade your laptop with DVD drive, please check first if it is taken in charge and compatible. If you install the disc is not compatible, then you will get an IDE error and the BIOS does not recognize the drive.

  • Satellite C855 - 1 GR - keyboard does not work properly

    Hello
Yesterday I turned my laptop on to find I couldn't hit my password as some of the keys on the keyboard are not working. It's only a few keys, I noticed at the moment F L O R V, NumLock, enter, delete, and the arrow keys do not work either. When I press some keys turns num lock.

Also when I open upward keys to self-retaining now is turned on, so I can't type anything, he used to come just I had turned off the laptop, but now it turns on if I just too closed.

Any ideas? Ill use the keyboard of the screen now!

Sounds like a malfunction of the keyboard.
Try to connect an external USB keyboard and check if it will work properly.
In case the USB keyboard would work properly, the internal keyboard needs to be replaced for sure.

  • Qosmio G30-163 mouse and keyboard does not work properly

    Hi all

I installed an update of the firmware of the toshiba site. I think that the upgrade was for the dvd but am not sure. I just saw an available upgrade and installed. Stupid of me. The dvd drive has been previously not recording. If after installing the update of the firmware I has not restarted the machine. In the meantime, I forgot the upgrade and then I did to fix the error of dvd

Now, after restart the keyboard and the mouse does not work. I can't go in safe mode because I can't press ok for the user login screen. I have attached an external keyboard, but it still does not work.

I use windows xp, I have a lot of data. I can't do anything. If anyone has any idea please help me. The laptop is out of warranty. I'm stuck. Help, please.

    John

S rally strange because I put t see a link between the firmware CD/DVD, UpperFilters and LowerFilters and the keyboard and mouse.

This is first time that a removal of the upper and lower filters would undermine the functionality of keyboard and mouse. Which is really strange.

Anyway, you are able to access the BIOS? If this isn't the case, then this is not good.

First of all, you should try to save the data stored on the HARD disk in this case, I recommend to remove the laptop HARD drive and connect it using a USB HDD on another controller.
This would allow you to save the data to another HARD disk.

Put the removed HARD disk in Notepad, and then try to reinstall the OS from the Toshiba restore CD.
I hope that this will be possible because I don't see another way to get the operating system again.

    Good luck by a friend

  • Satellite Pro 6100 keyboard does not work properly after repairs

    Hello

My 6100 Pro Sam just being away from usual mother board and power Board replacement with Toshiba, but now I have a strange keyboard problem.

When I turn it on, all the keys are working. After a few minutes, '3' is not working, then 'r' fails, then '5', ' 7 ', ' 8',' 9 ', ' 0' to stop working. At this point, I can feel something very hot under the middle of the keyboard. A reboot and no keys work. Another reboot with the internal keyboard and an external keyboard to the PS2 is still defective (some keys work, others do not), but the outer one works properly.

Now, if the pc has not obtained if hot as the middle of the internal keyboard, then, I would conclude that the keyboard was defective, but for his failure, slowly and sequentially like this and it fails at the same way every day (since Toshiba rebuild it!).

    Perhaps, internal keyboard controller overheating?
Anyone know what this could be? :-(

    See you soon,.
    Homer

Right under the keyboard of your pro 6100 is the VGA graphics controller (the keyboard cable plugs on the same map). It is normal that this part become hot during use.

It is strange that your problem appears after a while and not immediately.

It could be just a bad relocation of the keyboard cable (it's a thin layer as a movie negative photo) which easily appears there, but... it may be something more serious, too. (Especially since you had done upgrade where the material had to be changed)

I consult the service centre once more and ask for instructions how to deal with this. Do not ignore it (using an external keyboard instead of internal dysfunction) because he could end up in something more serious soon...

  • A key on the keyboard does not work properly

    Hello

I have a problem with my keyboard:
One button of the keyboard doesnâ? t working properly: I want to write a vowel with an accent (as in French and Spanisha? ¦), but if I press the button obtained, then the vowel, the vowel, and TWO dashes (a´a´) appear: a´a´i. normally, it should automatically be a focus on the top of the.

I tried another keyboard, but Ca? s the same problem when I connect it to my laptop. I also tried to choose another language as the French and Spanish, where they have accents, but it still doesnâ? t work.

It would be great if someone could help me.

    Thank you very much

I agree with Weezle. In any case, I have no much experience with it, but I think that some symbols do not appear automatically if you close button only once. There must be something.

  • Satellite Pro C850 keyboard does not work properly and opens several programs

My satellite pro C850 1HE keyboard intermittently stops working correctly, and begins to open programs, for example, by pressing F will open the file search, C open computer this kind of thing

is there a permanent solution to this problem?

This is not something to do with installed programs is not something to do with the browser settings.
restarting the computer works in a short time, but that is a long time, it's really annoying because I use this for work and study!

    > is there a permanent solution to this problem?

The question is what causes this problem? Is it related hardware or software related issue?

Why n t connect a USB keyboard just to check if the same would happen?

In case the USB keyboard would work fine, I guess that the internal keyboard failures and the solution would be a simple replacement of the defective part.

How can I fix this stupid bug?

    Hello

have you already tried to connect an external keyboard to the machine to check if you have the same problem?

Otherwise, I guess that it s a hardware problem. So if you still have warranty on your machine you should contact a service partner for a checkup of hardware on your system.

BTW. Here´s a link to a index of ASP (authorized service partner) If you want to bring your machine to repair:

  • Satellite - 1 4 - C850 keyboard does not work properly

Some keys on the keyboard on our Satellite C850 - 1 c 4 have stopped working. For example, the Q, W, R & T works but not the E? Any suggestions we can do to fix it?

    Steve - Hull.

    > Some keys on the keyboard on our Satellite C850 - 1 c 4 have stopped working.
In case the USB keyboard would work correctly, the problem is related to a malfunction of the internal keyboard and the solution is simple: the defective part (in this case the internal keyboard) needs to be replaced.

This can be done by the Toshiba authorised service provider available in your country.
