Keyboard gives erroneous characters of standby / hibernation

Dear all,

I have an Acer Aspire V5-471. It is fully updated with Windows8.1 and all the MS later updates.

The problem is that sometimes when the computer from sleep / hibernate mode, the keys to generate incorrect characters. It is a major problem when trying to enter my password to logon.

I thought it might be a hardware or driver problem and checked the keys and uninstalled/reinstalled drivers, all to nothing does not.

I then connected with another account and worked well, I created for the first account and who then worked fine until I put the computer to sleep (lid closed). When it happened again, I just changed my user, switched back and it's OK even once in the first count.

So it seems to enter the mode standby/hibernation somehow corrupts a keyboard user account assignment.

Has anyone else had this problem? I searched the site and cannot find all similar occurrences.

Thank you

Chas.

No he never had this problem until recently.

I found this article from a search:

http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/windows_8-security/why-cant-i-sign-into-Windows-8-w...

Seems to be a problem in microsoft with keyboards.

If I try to open a session that get incorrect password.

I click on the back of the switch user screen then click on my login information and can connect OK, it seems when the computer from standby the brining, the KB is considered to be bad for the hotmail account, go to user switching screen seems correct.

I'll try the proposed to the last SYSTEM RESTORE and see if that fix it.

    Hello

For me it looks like you have a software problem. To correct this quickly go to start-> programs-> Accessories-> system-> restore computer utilities. From here choose a restore point that you know is older, then when you have installed the software and this problem started. Then restore from there. It should essentially put the computer back a few weeks or however long you choose and go from there. At this point, the program affecting your computer must not be installed and it should work normally. If you have problems make me know. Have a good day and I hope that solves your problem.

  • Satellite M30X-111 wake up from standby/hibernation mode

People, like many of you, I had the questionable connection DC problem and I solved this at the time of re - solder the wandering joint on the connector for the motherboard.

Everything was fine with the laptop until yesterday when I tried to get the machine to wake from standby / hibernation if it is when you close the screen) and now all that happens is that the blue light around the power button lights up, the CPU fan runs for about 5 seconds, the HARD drive light flashes once Maybe two times and the DVD briefly climb towers.

Also nothing happens... the screen is blank and the laptop is actually not from the occasional maelstrom of the fan.

Is it in any case to perform a reset of some sort to get it to snap it on hibernation? I have read up on this subject on various forums and have tried to start without memory, without the HARD drive and the DVD drive and still no life.

Any input is appreciated that I need this laptop to spring into life again.

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

to wake up the machine, simply remove the battery and the AC and leave the machine for a few hours. After that, it should work again.
By the way: sometimes it s a good idea to do a biosupdate, because maybe the problem comes from the bios.

Please give some comments about your success... :)

  • Running back from standby/hibernation program

    Hey there,
I want to launch a program every time I come back/sign my computer after the standby/hibernation mode. I only found a possibility to play sounds of a logon each time that this happens, but I can't run programs like that. Is it possible to do it on Vista?

PS: If it isn't, can you send this request apparently simple functionality to the Windows 7 development team?

While the mark's instructions look as if they will work, there is a more elegant way to achieve, using Vista built in Task Scheduler.

To create a task that runs whenever you unlock your profile:
1 open the Task Scheduler [start > Panel > system and Maintenance > administrative tools > Task Scheduler (or just type "Task Scheduler" in the box start search)]. You will need an administrator account/password for access to this.
    2. Select "Create a task" to create a new task.
    3. a panel with several tabs will open.
    4. fill the 'Général' tab to meet your needs.
    5. go to the "Triggers" tab and choose "new". Another panel will open. At the top of this Panel, you will see a (see below). Open it and choose ' to unlock the workstation. Then choose if you want this task to run just for your profile or for everyone. Click on 'ok '. (You can find it useful to use the option "Delay task" to delay the task for 15-30 seconds to give your office a chance to load before the program runs.)

    6. go to the Actions tab, select 'New', choose 'Run program' and locate the program you want to run.
    7. Select the tabs 'Conditions' & 'Settings', respectively and change various settings according to your needs. (Make sure that the "Run on AC Only" option is disabled if you are using a laptop and want the task to run when it is unplugged).
    8. click OK to save your new task.
Now, whenever you unlock your profile after the standby or Hibernate mode, your program runs.
If you follow these instructions, but choose "connection to" rather than "To unlock the workstation", your task will run whenever you connect (unlock and logon are not the same thing as the computer is concerned, so keep that in mind).
This may not work if your profile is not protected by a password, but all mine, so I couldn't test it in this situation.
I hope this will satisfy your needs.
    Best wishes

  • How to disable the standby/Hibernation on series Satellite Pro U mode

    Hello
I have on my Satellite Pro U installed Windows Vista professional series.

During the defragmentationprocess my machine automatically goes to sleep.
Does anyone know how to disable temporarily on hold, the defragmentation process can be completed successfully.

    Hello

to disable the standby/Hibernation mode on your system, you should just go to "Control Panel" and open 'powersaver' to change settings powersaver.

The Powersaver contains profiles where powersaving all associates are defined parameters. You can change this profile and disable the sleep/hibernation mode to perform your defragmentation.

It would help if you post what system you have...

  • Satellite U300-144 does not come from the standby/hibernation mode

    Hi, can anyone help?

I have a new Satellite U300-144 accompanying the Vista home 32-bit preinstallation. I have a problem, he wants to come to the sleep/hibernation mode, and my clear blue power is always on standby/hibernation mode. I hold the power button to restart the computer and then I get a message of illegal closure because I don t shutdown right.

I tried to upgrade the BIOS later for my model and the n t the problem, then I tried to upgrade to Vista Ultimate t doesn't help either. I installed all the drivers and everything works real well.

A colleague using me U300 Office. I asked him to check the extended sleep/standby option and he reported that everything works correctly. He always uses the factory settings and only one update is added value package. He kidnapped the former and installed latest version of the Toshiba download page.

Have you installed latest PPVS too?

    Hallo! Help me)

I'm on macbook pro 13 "2011 i5. So I bought ssd to upgrade my mac. These are the 128 GB plextor m6pro. I cloned all the disk system ssd. Also I bought optibay, I broke my hard drive cable, so now the whole system works on optibay and ssd (without hard drive).

I have a serious problem. When I close the macbook and then open after a few minutes my system begins to work is not properly so I click on system reboot and Flash then folder with the question. I like this for 4 times, other times just system opens when I opened my macbook. Then I go to the internet-> disk utility boot and see this ssd is completely erased, no partition! I don't really know what to do.

It seems that he connects with optibay because it uses cd, mode standby/hibernation and sessions.

  • Keyboard broken on Satellite Pro 410cdt? Erroneous characters are shown

Hello guys, my oldies Satellite Pro 410 CDT notebook, with BIOS updated to 6.20, which I am trying to install in the w98se SO. I have a few problems I cannot solve:

    1. I formatted a 4.3 GB of a booklet of 70 TB HDD, into two partitions of 814 MB and another with the rest. In partition D, the major one that I copied all 410 as w98se drivers for its installation. These options I did in the Pc with Partion Magic Tower and the Explorer of Windows XP.

Reinstalled HARD drive in 410 CDT, the screen shows me the following message is displayed:

"THIS BASE WAS ABANDONED BECAUSE THIS MACHINE DOES NOT HAVE ROM BASIC, I USED TOSHIBA BASIC.
However many I looked there manual reference is not made to this message, can they tell me that this happens?

    2. when I format the HARD drive in another Pc I need to book a space in so that it is a system to make its copies in hibernation? That is, in the booklet of 70 to 100, they save 32 MB at the end of the HARD drive. Everything I need to resevar for 410 cdt and in this place?

3 when I start one laptop with a windows 98 without ramdisk boot disk, which allows me to load the most basic thing in MSDOS, I check that the keyboard isn't as must, that is to say, some of the keys they show on the screen characters that do not match them, others prove two or three at the same time not do anything about it either by supporting the fixed cursor, for example, rely on the 'DIR', the display shows "dioprt" keys, back, he is not yet, if I press the button Y on screen PY appear, and if I messing P also apararece ON PY, etc..

    4. when I installed the HARD drive it into one that before she had installed W98SE in my PC, there seemed no point message 1, but once the loaded WORD of the keyboard also met as described in point 3.

The truth is portable it wants to recover for office work and a little more, and depues of enough hours I could not solve all the problems commented. Please, if you can help me I would be eternally grateful.

Thank you and best what is the Spain.
    Pako.

    Hello

I m not 100% from one point because I've never seen this error message but I studied in the internet and somewhere has suggested that this error may whether or not poster because the boot partition was not enabled Active.

2.) I don't think that you need to book anywhere on the HARD disk for hibernation mode. Hibernation mode all data and settings are saved in the local file. It s a part of the operating system.

3.) for me it's not easy to tell if the keyboard is bad or only the software environment can not detect the functionality of the keys properly. To make sure if the keyboard is working properly you should test in the Windows operating system

  • How can I change European keyboard to English characters?

I recently got an Apple iMac and the keyboard is European.  It's not hit a number of characters as they are shown on the keyboard which is irritating.

I examined the means to change... through the language on the system of preferences Safari... but nothing helps.

    Advice please?

The keyboard layout is controlled by the system/preferences/keyboard Sources (no Safari or any other application).

Go there and make sure that only the layout for your keyboard is on the list.  If you'd say what language or you hardware keyboard is for, I could tell you is you need more exactly.

If you are in the United Kingdom by using an Apple keyboard, you should have British on the list.  If you are using a Windows keyboard, you should have British-PC on the list.

  • Missing drivers for standby/hibernation on Satellite M115

    Hello

I tried to re - install my Satellite M115-S3094, but I met some difficulties in the car. It was really hard to get all the drivers, but I think I got everything. that miss me is standby/sleep extended, I tried everything I could, but I don't know what is missing. Could someone give me a resource for pilots?

It would be great if there was somewhere with all the drivers in one place, but just something to sleep/hibernate and perhaps the keys would be great.

    Thank you

Can you please tell us what OS you are using?
In any case, I assume you have an American model in order to check for drivers on http://support.toshiba.com/drivers
    Your Satellite must be registered.

  • Satellite Pro U300 (PSU31E) standby & hibernation fails after updating BIOS

    Hello

I wonder if it is common that after the upgrade of the Satellite Pro U300 (PSU31E) of the BIOS 2.50 at BIOS 3, 70 - Win or 3, 90 - Win, do sleep modes and Hibernate the * completely locked laptop computer? *

After the upgrade, when I try to enter sleep or hibernation, the laptop turns off the LCD and gets locked so it isn't help to press and hold the power button, open/close the cover, press Fn - F3 or F4 - Fn, the only way is to disconnect the power supply and wait until the battery runs down, or simply be very rough and * disconnect the battery *.

While the Pro U300 is locked, I hear that HARD drive and fans are also swivel - as soon they were when entering standby or hibernation mode. Very ugly behavior - you can FRY your laptop with something like that. I thought that BIOS 3.70 was faulty but unfortunatelly version 3.90 also worthless.

Furthermore, I can't yet understand why large (70% of the zip file) file of the package to upgrade the BIOS (3.70 and 3.90)... is the portable other flashers log file?

Your ad, I understand that the screen does not wake up after its entry in the standby or hibernation mode.
    Am I wrong?

I noticed that Toshiba has released a new version of the Intel graphics driver.
At this time the update is 02/20/08 and the version is 6.14.10.4831.

Maybe you should try to update the display driver too check to see if it would help to get rid of this annoying display problem

I recommend to remove the old version of the graphics driver first, then install the new downloaded driver.

    Mate good luck

  • Standby / Hibernation of HP Pavilion Windows 8

    Hello world

Probably a really quick question, but I can not understand!

Bought a HP Pavilion not too long ago and it worked perfectly, and then all of a sudden one day, he slipped in mode 'sleep' where I did not move the mouse for a while... before it was fine I want to move the mouse / press a button and the screen will return-no more. Now, I have to hold the button market stop for 5 or 6 seconds to force the laptop close.

Also when I now turned off the laptop normally it takes about 5 minutes to actually turn off and then whenever I log on it says that there is an error with closing I want to send the problem (I always click Yes) but he never tells me how to fix this or what the problem was!

    Help me please!

    Thank you

    Josh

IF you have not seen this support article, give it a glance.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c03383935

I would like to jump to the section on sleep parameters and ensuring that the devices are configured to wake the PC from sleep. Maybe change the regime for high performance if you have it docked/on AC power, all the time or go power save/custom and disable hibernation. If you don't like this idea, you can check if a BIOS update is available on the software page and download your product model.
