Keyboard input language

I don't know if there is a link, but I recently upgraded to OS X 10.11.3, and now my keyboard only available option is English. Here is a screenshot:

As you can see, only English British and Japanese are selected in system preferences, but only English of the United States is available in the keyboard menu. And Yes, I reset the language and restarted my computer. Any ideas?

Go to Preferences-> keyboard-> input methods system, press on the + button and add all other keyboards you need.

  • Properties of the keyboard input language

I have Windows 7 Ultimate and have added Korean via Windows Update.  I also added Korean as an input language, but when I display the properties of the keyboard, it shows the US English provision.  When I switch between them the Korean show language bar but sill make English characters on the screen.  I tried to delete the input languages and uninstall the language pack and reinsert.  I think that the problem is with the properties of the Korean keyboard properties.  How can I fix it?

I agree, but you need to use Windows Update to install the language adds on.

As the Korean language pack is apparently installed, this leaves Windows Update out of the picture.

If you have changed the display in Korean language, you should not allow the entry of Korean language. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/972813 or http://www.webtlk.com/2009/05/29/how-to-change-language-in-windows-7/

    Hello
I found the place where exactly this may be small :).

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Keyboard Layout\Toggle]
    "Hotkey" = "1".
    'Language Hotkey' = '3 '.
    'Shortcut page layout' = '2 '.

Change the value of "Language Hotkey" accordingly.

1 sequence of button enabled; Use Left ALT + SHIFT to switch between locales.
2 key activated sequence; Use CTRL + SHIFT to switch between locales.
    3 invalid key sequences.
4 If the default locale is Thai, the grave accent key activates / deactivates the input locale. otherwise the keystrokes are disabled.

Another problem is that it sits under HKCU as well, same as if I pack this setting with MSI, it won't have a any use to me. Since then, installation is done using MSI localadmin account and HKCU is associated with the current session. If a new user who connects to this settting does not apply, and even if it rises "access denied" :(

Hope this helps anyone with the same problem.
    Thank you.

  • Change the input language (but no keyboard)

Advice from Microsoft about this is here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Add-or-change-an-input-language

What they fail to mention is that whenever you change the input language, you must also switch the physical keyboard. This is not useful... you can easily enter (say) German with an English keyboard, but as this feature is currently implemented, if you want to than the German spelling checker, you can also switch to a German keyboard.
    Or am I missing something?

I was curious - what happens if we give a QWERTY keyboard for the laptop computer French?

I can confirm that a QWERTY keyboard works fine when an input language is defined on FR... This has always been my position of withdrawal anyway.
I also read that the keyboard mapping is maintained in the registry, so my other idea is to assign an input EN language (which will force me to choose an English keyboard), and then change the mapping if it corresponds to the real keyboard (AZERTY).
This sounds like a viable solution?
  • The input language keyboard

When I move the language bar, but sill make English characters on the screen. I tried to remove the input languages and adding in the text Services and input languages dialog box, but the problem persists. I think that the problem is with the properties of the Persian keyboard properties. How can I fix it?

  • Firefox freeze every time that tired to change the input language

Hello. Whenever I tried to change the input language to enter in other languages Firefox freeze (program does not).

Sometimes I type alt + shift or when I click on the language bar to select other languages.

It also happens with several languages (I've tested, maybe all), and I have tried various software/entry mode, including default windows, all freeze. Reset Firefox under help does not work either.

This problem occurs with Firefox and Chrome but not IE... Maybe not Firefox problem as this case w Chrome, but and ideas please? Thank you.

    Edit:

    • Regedit could be changed, but do not hit internet setting.
    • I can enter foreign language as long as I set the default language and don't change another language in the language bar. Currently I use the foreign language as default capture software and switch to English of entry in this software.

Have you attempted to assign a specific shortcut (for example, Shift + Ctrl + 1-9, 0) to select each language?

  • Cannot save the settings in "text Services and input languages".

I have "English (US)" installed and set as default and "Japanese (Japan), keyboard (MS IME)" and "Chinese (Simplified) - Microsoft Pinyin IME" installed under my keyboard services.

Under "Text Services and input languages" on the tab "Advanced key settings", I have a 2 key enabled parameters. "Between the input languages" left alt + Shift and 'Chinese (Simplified) IME - Ime/NonIme turn' set to Ctrl + space

I can't remove it. I apply every time, it just sets back to Ctrl + SPACEBAR again. I do not have this shortcut, but I don't want to uninstall my Chinese typing function.

This seems to be a problem that affects many users, but still not fixed after years. Do you have any solutions?

I found a registry tweak on a Chinese website. Basically:

under HKEY_CURRENT_USER Control Panel input method hot keys 0000010 keys control,

    02c 00000, Ctrl-space,

I changed it to 06C 00000, which means Ctrl - Shift - space.

I don't know if the other numbers mean other combinations or how to find out. But it suits it. (requires restart).

  • all the input languages are missing

We use a Swedish keyboard on our computer at home. This morning after that start the input replaced by which language seems to be an English keyboard layout (although I'm not sure).
When I go to the control panel and in the region and the language, I select the keyboards and languages tab. From there, I click on «Change keyboards...» ».
The default input language is empty and installed services. When I click on "Add..." ", the list of languages is completely empty, so I can't add any language at all.
I guess some file is probably corrupted, but I have no idea on how to restore or replace it. Help, please!
I found a solution. There was a file in the Windows registry that was missing:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layouts
The entries appear to contain information on which dll files contain different keyboard layouts.
I copied it from another computer and now it works again!
