Keyboard on Satellite A200 problem

Hi, while hoping a bit of insight into what the problem may be with my Satellite A200.

It started with one single key works does not, then one other has stopped working. Then I would press a key, but it would come with a different letter on the screen. Then it got really bad, I couldn't use the keyboard at all because of the random letters would seem I typed, eventually escalating to the point where letters would appear constantly on the screen when the keyboard has not been affected.

Tried to uninstall and reinstall driver, did not help. Tried a usb keyboard which was great until tonight. Usb keyboard or the laptop keyboard are working when tapped, yet sometimes random letters appear on the screen.

I was ready to replace the keyboard if it was just a problem of keyboard, but now I'm wondering if it might be the motherboard. Everyone knows the same or similar problem?

Nothing has been spilled on the keyboard.

Thanks for your help.

It's very confusing when the keyboard USB doesn t work too. At first, I thought faulty keyboard, it must be, but I'm afraid there is a serious hardware problem and I don't think you can fix it alone.

I recommend you contact nearest Toshiba authorized maintainer and ask for help.

  • Silver keyboard on Satellite A200

I bought a new Satellite A200, and now after having used it for 4 hours straight, there's a brownish haze on the W, A, S, D and L-Shift key. It's not even a week!

Just to be clear, it's not dirt, I wash my hands carefully before touching my new laptop!
I tried to clean it with a damp cloth, SOAP and even cleaner display, but it seems that the key itself changes color because of the contact with my fingers.
This happened yet my old white book of 2 year, nor my beige office keyboard, or my sisters laptop 4 years with white keyboard (which I use regularly to play games).

Does anyone else have this problem or get a keyboard of a bad lot / without a coat on the keys?

    Published by: ADMIN

I have P200 with the same keyboard, more than two months and he uses for work. This means that using keyboard extensively. After two months the keyboard is still like new. Sorry, but what to say in your case. Your fingers are dirty somehow or it comes because of sweat.

If you use it for games I can imagine that the pressure is much stronger than usual. Maybe you play action games and it is logical that the fingers are more sweat than usual. ;)

Sorry but I have no other explanation.

  • BIOS on Satellite A200 problem

I tried to reinstall the bios on Satellite A200, with no result. Now I can't even boot up the laptop. When I called the servise in our town, they say that this computer have only one way to the trash.
This computer is 3 months old. What can I do with it?

First of all: what do you mean by "resettlement"? !!! Tried it before and she didn't? Need a better explanation!

I have sometimes prey that users here (or new users) just explain a bit more detailed problem!
OK, if the laptop does not start then not entirely for trash.

Another question: what service did you call? Who was a Toshiba Servicepartner? I think that if it is an OFFICIAL AUTHORIZED SERVICE PARTNER, then they wouldn say that your machine can go directly into a trash can...

Proceed as follows to save your machine in the Trash:

    1. click on this LINK: http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_whitepaper.jsp?service=EU&WHITEPAPER_ID=0 000000871
    2. search for the of SERVICE AUTHORIZED PARTNER nearest in your country and dial Don t the same as calling you before!
    3. call them and send your machine for them. They should fix your machine because you have always guaranteed on this subject.

    That's all.

    Good bye

  • Closing in on the Satellite A200 problem

    Hello...

I have a Satellite A200 with Windows XP Pro SP2 and sometimes there is when I have the OS it hangs for about 45 seconds, then start/stop start/stop. Meanwhile, the HARD disk it used a lot.

In the user accounts from the Control Panel, I changed the way uses connect/disconnect (uncontrolled use welcome screen) when restarting the OS, I get the "Windows is shutting down" and "saving your settings" window and this window disappears. When the window disappears, I get this kick 45 seconds - 1 minute.

I downloaded the profile "user hive CleanUp" of Microsoft and I still have the problem. I also disabled the system restore.

    Can someone help me?
    Thank you!

You have a lot of files stored on your HARD drive? Or maybe a lot of programs installed? So in this case I recommend you:

-clean your system with tools like "TuneUp" 2008
-Defragment your HARD drive, you will see the evacuation is much faster with a defragmented disk (best result of defragmentation can be gained with "O & O defrag")
    -remove applications
-get a registry cleaner and let them clean the reg for a huge log can slow down even a really powerful machine

For example, some of my suggestion that should work...

  • Audio driver with Satellite A200 problems

I installed XP + SP2 on a Satellite A200 successfully. I have downloaded all the drivers from the official site, but even though I installed the drivers for the sound card, the system does not recognize a sound card, no indication of speakers to the taskbar. Also, I installed the driver for the modem, but under the control panel modems, there isn't any modem.

    Hello

I also had this problem on my Satellite A210.
The problem was that I didn t install two important patches from Microsoft. * KB888111 and KB835221 *.

This patch must be installed before installing the audio driver.
If you have already installed the audio driver please remove TI (remove the soundcard from Device Manager).

Then, install the patches mentioned and after reboot short you could follow with Realtek sound driver installation.

This helped me and I'm sure he will also help you 100%.

  • Satellite A200 - problems with the AC adapter / CC

    Hello

    The problem concerns a Satellite A200 (PSAF6A-02H01N).

Recently, there was problems with the laptop, taking several attempts to boot to Vista, it would lock up while loading or just hang and freeze just after loading Vista.
But once it was up and the laptop running would be happy working for hours with the AC adapter is plugged in.

The problem got worse now and the laptop will not load Vista end without crashing.
We have now reduced the computer down to have only a problem when the power adapter is connected.
The laptop battery will charge normally with the AC adapter is plugged in and the laptop on standby or off.

The problem persists with the AC adapter is plugged in and the battery removed.
The laptop will start and run perfectly with battery and no power adapter plugged. Once the AC adapter is plugged in the laptop indicates that the battery is charging and then after a few seconds it crash or freeze and the only escape is a full stop.
The laptop will not work under the battery power for 30 minutes max.
I checked the output voltage of the AC adapter and this seems to be a consistent 19.4 Volts.

Is this only a problem of AC adapter or the problem with the laptop?

    Thanks in advance...

    The Canada Gazette

I lifted the previous discussions on this problem and found one that was very similar, but unfortunately the user decided not to find the problem of the road, save money and buy a new laptop instead! Hmm. !! .. seems to me like this might be a prob. material. Maybe a new motherboard?... anyone have an idea of what are the costs for that perhaps? .. an ASP or decent technician backstreet?...

  • A key on keyboard on Satellite L100 problem

Bought my L100 Satellite in July last year. Problem is that I need a lot more pressure to press the key 'a' all the others. How can I fix?

Can I get the keyboard to check why it is almost blocked? I had no problem when I bought this laptop.

If you remove all of the keyboard you will lose the warranty and I would not risk the guarantee because of the unique keyboard key.

But you can remove the unique key of the keyboard Plug and check if there is dirt or something else with a bad influence for the key mechanism.

For a replacement keyboard, you will need to contact the service partner in your country? ¦

  • Strange keyboard on Satellite M211 problem

    Hello!

I'm Belgian and my English is not perfect, then, first of all I would like to apologize for this.

I have a Satellite M211 of China (QWERTY keyboard) and I don't know what happened, but yesterday when I'm on to use it, I discovered that the keyboard has completely changed (when I type '9' are '39' coming, when I hit 8 here "87" to come,...), all the keys have changed and it is impossible for me to use the keyboard.

I noticed that there was a light under the 'F10', and it was new, as when the keyboard is normal this light won t.
So I want to know how can I solve this problem of keyboard and turn off the light (I already try to 'Fn' 'F10', this does not work).

    Thank you

I don't know how it works on the Chinese notebook models but you try using FN + F10 or maybe FN + F11. It is important to disable this LED and a built-in keyboard.

When activated, the keys with the grey wire marking on their lower edge are either pad keys (FN + F11) or the keys (FN + F10) slider control.

  • Some keys on the keyboard for Satellite A200 do not react

    Hello to you all.

Recently, I had serious problems with a few keys. They do not react when I press on them. Oddly, enough it happened one day where everything worked perfectly. Currently a non-flexible solution (: @) is a mix of keyboard and Vista on-screen keyboard. I have spilled something on my laptop that I take great care of it. Keys not working do not are:

    K k
    U u
    I have I
    M m
    J j

    7
    8

    ,
    *

    Up arrow
    Arrow pointing down

I also remember the day, this problem occurred (and since then, every day when the laptop boots) in startup screen logo is continuous-interminnent beeps. Alsowhen Office appears and then press 'Start' (Windows logo) I see constantly writing in the prompt search (under "all programs") and that if I press the right arrow it wll not stop. Any ideas? I guess from a driver issue... I hope someone help...

P.S.:strangely (with the exception of added value package) I can't update my Toshiba laptop (they all fail with an error). First, I do the update of the BIOS?

    Hi Herc,

The description of your problem doesn't quite sound as if your keyboard has developed a fault, particularly in failing the grouping of keys held. If you have access to a USB port on the keyboard I sugest you try and see if you get the same problem.

If your A200 is still covered by warranty, then I suggest that return you it to a repairer approved for repair. If your warranty has expired so fortunately replacement keyboards are not only expemsuve and are fairly easy to replace, just try to Google for a suitable provider.

I don't think that your problem is related to software or drivers

    Kind regards

  • Satellite A200 - problem WebCam - webcam readers failed

    Hello

I need help with the webcam integrated my A200 Satellite.

Whenever I start the laptop that I got a message saying that readers of the webcam does not and I have to restart the computer, but the problem persists.

I downloaded a update webcam driver, but nothing.

Can someone give me an idea of what's going on?

    Thank you!

    Hello

Are you using the OS preinstalled Toshiba? Is it Vista or Win XP?
AFAIK that Vista needs Sp1 and other updates MS in order to manage drivers and 3rd software part correctly.

I have internal webcam and I m using Vista and Win XP.
I deleted the software for the webcam to start in msconfig.
This prevents the webcam of the automatic start during windows startup
    You should do it too

I have the latest version of bios and drivers. My current of operation system is Windows xp.

    > When I went from external USB, laptop keyboard work keyboard.

This means that the keyboard controller is OK and the problem seems to be related to the internal keyboard. Defective internal keyboard needs to be replaced to solve your problem.

    You are the Poland?
I guess you could get a new Toshiba authorized service provider keyboard that does not exist in Poland. Also a common keyboard (84-key) must be compatible.

I noticed that my language settings have changed since the English Australia (US) on the United States in English (US)... would this be causing the problem.

By the way, have replaced the keyboard... ran scans as its no fun and updated all the drivers... This laptop is clean as a whistle, so to speak...

Thanks for any help you can provide...

    > I noticed that my language settings have changed since the English Australia (US) on the United States in English (US)... would this be causing the problem.

I don t think that this could provoke the question because the keyboard language settings would only change the keyboard layout.
However, if you want to you can go back to the previous language.

Microsoft has released beautiful instruction how to change these settings:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/258824/en-us

But as I said above, it doesn't look like the problem was related to this setting.
There is probably a hardware keyboard problem and you need to replace the keyboard in order to get the buttons working properly.

  • Re: Satellite A200 - problem with generic AC adapter

I own an A200 running Windows 7; I got it for a few years and the battery had deteriorated to the point where it concluded that a small amount of current, so I ran on aware of virtually all the time. However the CAP at the end of the cord (where it connects to the computer) became gradually more flexible and more flexible to the point where I had to twist and turn and argue it so in order to get the power flowing into the computer. the other day it stopped working completely.

I went out and bought a third party adapter ("Lite-On"); I'm in a foreign country, but the adapter has had the same type of plug and the same (same input range, same output voltage) characteristics of power like the broken adapter that came with the computer. When I plug in, all the power lights comes on and it seems to work perfectly. When I start the computer, however, sometimes I will get a screen that says "Windows could not start... possibly as a result of a loss of power ' despite all the LEDs remain solidly lit during startup." This happens only occasionally. What is happening at each time is that in a minute or if all the lights go out and the computer turns off instantly; the LED will light up and then back up again instantly. Sometimes this occurs during the boot process, and sometimes I am able to go as far as opening a session on Windows before his stop.

Is someone can you please tell me what the problem might me?

After reading your ad, I also believe that this issue has nothing to with AC power supply.
There must be another reason for the off switch.

In most cases, this behavior is typical of overheating. In short period of time material reach the level of critical and portable temperature simply shut down without any warning.
You can do a little test: start your laptop computer and enter the BIOS settings. Leave it for a while and see if the same thing will happen again.

As already wrote Akuma, try cleaning the cold air and the cooling rack.
Problem is that block cooling grill and portable dust cannot be properly cooled.
