Keyboard typing wrong characters; "@ and.

Original title: keyboard setting

Hi, stupid problem, but I can't fix this, my @ key is the "key and vice versa so when I press SHIFT-@, I get" aaaagggh

This means you accidentally chose the wrong language on your keyboard.  The United Kingdom and the United States have different keyboards.  If you choose UK instead of U.S., you will see that these two keys are swapped.

To resolve this problem, I come to your regional language settings in the control panel and the switch instead really live you (UK or US).

    Hello

sounds like a serious problem of material. You can try the following command to check if just the internal keyboard making trouble or your machine is defective: it just connect an external keyboard (ps2 or usb) and check if you got the same error.

But these days you have to bring your machine to a service partner chartered local for a checkup of material because I think that your keyboard is faulty and that the hardware components of your machine must be checked.

  • Problem of annoying keyboard typing wrong characters

Sometimes when typing my email address instead of the ' @' sign contained a double ' sign appears and it is impossible to get my keyboard to give me the correct sign. I tried to turn the caps on and then turn off; using the SHIFT key. and many other hit but have to close on the web, in total, which is frustrating to say the least. Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a solution? Thanks for your help

This is the region for the keyboard setting and has nothing to do with the shift keys.

The "key and the @ key are in different positions in different international keyboards."  Similarly, the result of the use of shift with the 3 button gives different results in different regions.

The solution is simple and is also easy.  Just follow the steps precisely.

Control Panel, tab language, region, keyboard & languages, change keyboards, services installed, select the keyboard so that the word "keyboard" is highlighted, click on Add..., find the country the keyboard was bought for, expand the list, so you can see check boxes of the options available, tick one of these boxes.  Press OK. Now select the unwanted country setting that was in the list before hand and remove [you could not do this before or you would have nothing to say the keyboard how to behave while you were doing the rest of the procedure].  Press OK twice.

    Comprehensive work.

  • Keyboard displays wrong characters

Just bought a Pavilion 15-e045sa.  It was fine at first, but now when I type in the keyboard I get 3rd. It looks like with all the characters of the top line:

    • e 3F
    • r 4r
    • t t5fv

I have already restored the computer laptop back to factory settings, updated the BIOS and checked the usual regional settings etc.  What else is there to do?

    Hello OldBooty,

Welcome to the HP Forums and I hope you enjoy your stay!

I understand that the keyboard will be seized of the wrong characters when you press some keys. I'll do what I can to enlighten you on this issue.

My information is based on what you gave me, more precisely, that:

    • e 3F
    • r 4r
    • t t5fv

Regarding the first two keys, the extra button that appears is the key top. The third key does the same thing, but includes also two keys below. I was able to look at the keyboard of this computer to examine the issue. Unfortunately, it is a hardware problem and the computer must be repaired. As it should be in the warranty, please contact HP phone support to do this. You can use this Web site for information about how to contact HP properly, based on your region: Contact HP worldwide

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • Alphabet key on my keyboard, typing special characters

Hi, I wanted to ask you if you know about this feature, because it does not work on my PC, but I don't want it.

When I want to write "" a "I need to press ['] [space] [a], and at least that I do not support on the space between the two I'm 'a'."

Similar occurs with other characters. For example, I can get u, a, o, o, u, etc... But I don't want that, I just want to do what I'm typing. Another thing I noticed, is that it doesn't when I switch to the Serbian keyboard (Latin or Cyrillic).

So, I would like to stop, but I don't know what to look for. This does not happen on my other PC. Yet, even if that happens any more after that I restarted the PC, it would be interesting to find out how to enable or disable this feature. Although I don't mind, it can be useful.

ADDED: I would also say that is happening everywhere in Windows - based 2007 Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, and Skype, in the field of research programs and files on the start menu and to rename files and folder.

Original title: "corrected in a all the time

    Thanks for your reply, Shivam!

    1. I don't remember making any changes... I have the same desire when I accidentally something press keyboard and I do not know what I pressed.
    2. About my PC, I cannot say anything meaningful, because it is not a particular model, and I also changed some components on that. Right now it's a relatively new installation of Windows 7 (a few weeks or more).

Now, I managed to bring it back to what it was, and I have no idea what is the thing that solved my problem. Unfortunately, in Control Panel , I did not find language as you suggested, I found region and language, and from there, I went to the keyboard and languages, where I clicked on change keyboards... The only change that I remember now is that I had of the English (United States - International), and now I have chosen EFrench (U.S. ) ). It is very likely that I also changed some other settings, but I don't know what exactly does the job.

It is an interesting option for someone who needs to write something in a foreign language, that I didn't need.

Thanks for your help. I wish I could tell some information on what I was doing before this problem, and what exactly I did to bring it back to what it was.

    Kind regards!

    • First of all, it looks like a possible hardware problem with the computer. Please perform a hard reset. Steps: Turn off the computer and unplug the charger. Then remove the battery only if it is removable.
    • Press and hold the power button on the unit for 15 seconds to carry out the static electrical charges inside the machine.
    • Replace the battery and the charger plug it back.
    • Turn off the device. When you turn it upwards, immediately press the F11 key slowly several times.
    • Need you to Recovery Manager. Here, choose the option "troubleshooting." Then, please select 'Advanced Options' and 'command prompt '.
    • Type all of the characters in the keyboard in this mostly black window keys that do not work properly.
    • If F11 no transports you to the Recovery Manager, please keep hit the "ESC" gently several times the moment you turn on the unit. It takes you to the start menu and you could press F11 from there to go to the Recovery Manager. Please check all the keys in the window command prompt black, especially the keys that do not work.

If this does not work in the command line (black window), then it's a hardware with the keyboard problem. For assistance please visit this link: http://support.hp.com/in-en/product/HP-Pavilion-15-Notebook-PC-series/5355006/model/5399238/document/c03738933/

  • Error message when turn on computer so very strong and high beep for a minute, already entered in the password box and typing of characters is uncontrolled.

When I turn on my computer an error message flashes but it's too fast to read, after which there is a strong and high slope beep. Then he'll ask me if I want to start my computer on Vista or run the memory diagnostics. • SlateBookx2: I closed my session with wrong password and I can connect is no longer

    Hey,.

I blocked my Slatebook session with my usual password before you turn it off. I must have typed wrong twice. Earlier this afternoon, I went from the Tablet, entered the password, and the display shows "wrong password". I've tried dozens of variants (including the cap lock), nothing works.

Is there a way to reset everything, even if that means reformatting of the Tablet?

    Any suggestion is appreciated.

    Thank you

    Hi Sapiens,

I would off the tablet of the keyboard if you are only working with the tablet. Try now the power button and selecting "Power Off" when it appears on the screen. Once the unit is off, follow these instructions to reset the unit to the power off state: factory reset instructions.

  • HP Envy 15 k046nd: Envy 15 k046nd how to remove the keyboard (shift of collage and key)

    Hi all

    Short version:

Does anyone know how to remove a single key on the keyboard without breaking? (or if it is still possible) I tried some things, but have failed.

    Long version:

Unfortunately, I spilled lemonade on my keyboard last week. I cleaned it all that quickly, and nothing is technically wrong. But after 2 days some keys on my keyboard started to stick very bad, especially the entrance and the shift key. They still work, but it's very annoying. I have tried lifting below them and cleaning, but that has not worked, and I also can't get down them. I looked for a way to replace the keyboard, but I have to essentially take the computer laptop all apart + it's expensive. I hope someone can tell me how to down the different keys without breaking!

    Thank you

    Leon

    Hi there @leonsmits,

Welcome to the HP support community! I read your post and wanted to tender hand can help you! I read that you want to remove the keys of the keyboard because they hold and you want to clean.

If a key is physically stuck in the down position, you should not replace your laptop. Many keyboards have keys that can be removed by inserting a knife to butter under one edge of the button and gently lifting upward on the upper and lower edge. Please NOTE: To avoid damaging the cushion under the key, insert the knife to butter only 1/8 of an inch under the edge of the key

After having removed the key, using a buffer with alcohol, clean the underside of the key and the key on the keyboard slot. Put the key in the snapping it back in place.

Here is a document for you called portable keyboard troubleshooting. There is a section in this document, called a laptop key stuck. This section will help you to guide you how to clean these keys.

If the keyboard doesn't have keys that can be removed, you may need to replace the keyboard or laptop service.

This answer doesn't solve your problem or answer your question? If so, please share the good news! Inform others that this answer was helpful by clicking on the button accept as a Solution . You can also show your appreciation by clicking thumbs-up.

    Hi Nana696,

    ·         What is the brand and model of the keyboard?

    ·         The issue is limited to specific keys?

    ·         Did you do changes on the computer before the show?

    ·         What operating system is installed on your computer?

Follow the suggestions below for a possible solution:

Method 1: I suggest to check the keyboard on the screen and check if the problem still persists.

Type without using the keyboard (on-screen keyboard)

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/type-without-using-the-keyboard-on-screen-keyboard

Method 2: Follow the link below, update the drivers for the keyboard from the Device Manager and check if it helps.

Updated a hardware driver that is not working properly

    Hello

    (1) have you made changes before the start of this issue?

    (2) this problem occurs when you type on the specific application?

    Method 1:

Use the keyboard of the screen and check if the problem persists and let us know the status of the issue. Follow the steps in the link:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/type-without-using-the-keyboard-on-screen-keyboard

Method 2: You can have your NumLock. Please make sure that you turn it off by pressing the NumLock key and control if the problem persists.

Also to ensure that the function key (fn) key on the keyboard is not subtracted when typing.

    I hope this helps.

I have a simple standard PS/2 keyboard with a Microsoft driver. I tried updating the keyboard driver but Windows told me that mine was ' aware' and 'works '.

I would like some advice on how to fix things.

    Thank you, Roy.

Your computer is probably configured for several keyboard layouts and a shortcut key was inadvertently pressed that switches between layouts.

Open the control panel and go to the appletregion and language . Of the click thekeyboards and languages tab   Change keyboards. If you want only the US (or other) keyboard, select then delete all others listed in the General tab.

If you need several keyboard layouts, make sure U.S. (or other) is on the top of the list and move to the Advanced key settings tab to change or remove the keyboard shortcuts to switch between keyboard layouts by selecting an option by clicking on Change Key Sequence.

If you have decided to keep several keyboard layouts, make sure that the Language bar is easily accessible from the tab. anchored in the task bar of theLanguage bar is a good bet here. If it is set, the keyboard icon will be present to the left of the Notification area (for example system tray) when the Language bar is docked in the taskbar. This allows you to quickly switch between keyboard layouts.
