It performs like any other wired device that is connected to an Ethernet port. However, in the case of a WAN, the unit that plugs into the Ethernet port on the extended base station will only get that fast of a signal that the connection between the "main" and "extended" base stations.

In other words, if you use wireless to connect to the extended base station, there will be a loss of at least half of the potential speed wireless on the network.  A device that plugs into the Ethernet port on the extended base station will get this same speed.

In order to maintain top speeds on the network, the main and extended base station must be connected together using wired Ethernet wired, permanent.

You use the factory settings on your laptop computer or you have installed your own version of Windows?
And what OS do you have?

Before you try the website nVidia display driver you should look first on the Toshiba site. These drivers have overheating protection and so you're on the safe side:

Have you tried to disable the firewall and antivirus before you started the game? Check it!

  • L540: password accepted anywhere but the login screen

    Hello!

I was happily using the sensor of fingerprint on my L540 for awhile, until what a few months ago, I reinstalled Windows 7 (Professional, x 64). After setting up everything, and by installing drivers Lenovo, I noticed this problem:

When I start the laptop and you type the password, it will accept it.* but if I open the dialog to change, Windows will claim that the password that I type is wrong. I tried several times, also copy - paste where she had changed the layout of the keyboard, but just, he does not accept the password that works on the logon screen.
The same thing happens when I close the laptop and it goes into sleep mode, and then I try to connect again. In this case the only thing that helps is to extinguish completely the laptop and restart.

For a while it would not also accept the password on the login screen * front * password indication was shown. Of course maybe I just typed it, but it happened very regularly for 1-2 weeks or more. At one point that specific question came not, without changing me anything.

In short, I can't set up the fingerprint sensor because I have to type the password, and I can't change it to something easier. This particular password wasn't supposed to be typed much. I trusted that the fingerprint sensor would work.

I thought that it might be caused by one of the drivers, given that the problem started happening immediately, but only a few days after that I want to install Windows. (My memory is a bit blurry, sorry).
Then I threw most of the drivers I downloaded manually (especially the keyboard driver and fingerprints) and installed a package that installs drivers automatically, but that has not changed anything.

I have no idea if this would be a problem of Lenovo or a Windows problem. Can you give me an idea where to go with this problem?

    Thank you very much!

Easiest thing would be just to use the new account. But what about the why, that's happened, I don't really know why. =/

  • Preformance issues when you play on my Qosimo x 770

    Hello!

I have problems of preformance by playing newer games on my Toshiba Qosmio x 770. Basically, everything works fine the first 30 to 45 minutes of play, but I'm suddenly start getting the temporary fall FPS, which usually lasts from 20 to 60 seconds before everything goes back to normal. The FPS fall occurs more frequently then the more I play, and eventuelly it comes to a point where I can't find it pleasant at all to continue playing. So far, this has happened when the game like Diablo 3, Max Payne 3 and Star Wars: The Old Republic.

My suspicion is that my (Gefore GTX 560 M) graphics card gets overheated as the computer gets very hot. Case of overheating, I think that the clocks autoamtically graphics card down, that eventuelly causes my FPS drops.

I thought that the updated for my video card drivers would solve this problem, but they don't have. (I'm running with the latest 301,42 downloaded from the Nvidias homepage). I even bought an external laptop cooler to better manage the temperature, but the only thing it does is to buy me another 5-10 minutes of play before the start of the late development.

I'm not good with computers in some way, but I really want to get my money's worth when playing computer games. What could I do to fix this? Any help would be much apprecited.

  • L540 stops around the bottom/spear its OK but not WILL NOT RESTART

I have a new L540 who arrived inoperatve - button / stop does not work. He sent back the deposit, and after 2 weeks he received is back with a new card system and 3 other parts replaced. After loading Windows 7 with no problems, the first time that I went to restart, I found that it crashes off - in other words, it seems to stop, but backlight is always on and he's sitting there, until I held down the power button for 4 seconds. I can hear 5 short beeps (very weakly) as soon as it is broken. If I try in safe mode, the 5 beeps are at full volume.

If I choose 'stop', he stops fine and returns long after hitting the power button. No difference whether on battery, AC or AC with no battery installed.

I did all the updates, including the BIOS, no difference. I pulled the CMOS battery to reset the default BIOS settings. Hints from anyone? Thank you.

Yes - he returned to the DEPOT, and the motherboard has been replaced. He is fine now.

  • L540 Windows 10. Plugged in, not charging, then the pc stops. Cannot start.

    Brand new L540.
Windows 10 fresh install, not improved versions of other windows.

The Lenovo system update is installed and installed all the drivers (Intel Wireless Lan driver).

When the charger is plugged in, the screen blinks several times, it says plugged in, no charging current. Then the laptop stops. When you try to start windows again, the laptop stops immediately after the windows 10.

Unplug the charger and the laptop starts and works very well.
The battery can recharge very well when the laptop is turned off.
If the battery is 100% laptop works very well with the charger connected.

Basically, the laptop works fine, except when you try to charge the battery then in windows 10. This causes a stop.

I tried the solutions previously suggested to stop and remove the battery, nothing works.

Motherboard replaced by service of Lenovo.

  • Cannot adjust the brightness of the screen with the keys Fn on new L540 (8.1 x 64)

Hello everyone. I just bought a new L540 with 8.1 of Windows x 64 on it and have met a problem that I see is apparently common. While my other Fn keys work as expected, I can't adjust the brightness of the screen with them. By pressing the buttons just does nothing and the laptop is in running at full brightness at any time, even on the battery. I installed the latest driver for managing power and from what I can tell, there is no version of the management software supply for something newer than Windows 7. I also installed the latest driver for the shortcut key (in fact, I installed all the latest drivers for this machine.) I read in another thread that this may be caused by the latest driver from Intel's HD graphics card but in fact, I can not install even this driver (said my system is not supported) so I always use the latest version of the driver Lenovo provided.

Can someone please help with this? I want to be able to quickly adjust the brightness of the screen when it is on battery, but I can't do it right now. Thank you!

I have the same problem with my L540. It started with the BIOS update to version 1.65. Because I have not found a solution, I went back to BIOS version 1.64, where all the brightness options are there and are working properly.

You can download older versions. When on the page with the new drivers (http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS037285) go to BIOS driver 1.65, then choose "learn more." At the end of the next page, you will see all the old versions.

You can install the version 1.64, you should choose the Option "Secure RollBack prévention" in the BIOS: restart the computer. When you see the option "to interrupt normal startup, press enter", press ENTER. Once more, press ENTER. Press F1 to enter BIOS Setup utility. Click on 'Security'-> then "update Bios UEFI Option'-> then"set RollBack prevention. " Change this option to "disabled". Press F10 to save the configuration changes and exit.

After you restart Windows, you can install BIOS 1.64.

Another possibility is to wait for the next version of BIOS...

  • Height L540 HDD?

What is the height of the Bay of HDD L540, 7mm or 9.5 mm?

I am considering getting one, but as the original HARD drive is one of these drives to 5400 RPM terribly slow, I would replace it immediately for a 7200 RPM drive. The ones I found are 9.5 mm in height.

    Hi Wamiduku,

Welcome to the Community Forums of Lenovo!

Documents related to the Lenovo ThinkPad L540 States that it has been bundled with a 7 mm or 9.5 mm. You can manually measure the height of the disc HARD leaving.

If you can private message me the serial number and number of MTM to your device, I can check the specifications with which the system has been delivered.
