L560 eSATA expresscard

Hello

brand new L560 with Windows 10.
My Delock eSata II (66224) expresscard is not detected (not even an unknown device)

Any idea? Would be appreciated.

  • Satellite Pro M30 and eSATA

    Hi all

I recently bought the external drive western digital mybook premium ARE. This disc has an eSATA (external SATA) port.

The problem is that my satellite pro m30 (model #: psm35e0021jar) is not the external SATA port. I found an ADDONICS (eSATA, ExpressCard 34) and another similar product from SIIG (eSATA II Express Card).

    The question is:

1.) these products going to be compatible with my fairly old laptop?
2.) is the hard drive of my laptop SATA technology is or what?
(3.) what brand of motherboard used in my laptop?

Thanks in advance and I cannot wait for the answers.

    Hello

1.) these 3 products of third parties are not known to me, but as you know the Satellite Pro M30 does not support a SATA interface and if you want to upgrade the HARD drive, you will need to use the HARD disk with interface IDE (ATA-5) increased.
(2.) No, as indicated above the laptop supports the IDE and not SATA
(3.) the Satellite Pro M30 using motherboards Toshiba ;)

A hint; If you have a SATA HDD, you can use it as a external HARD drive. This HARD disk can be connected via external USB sata controller.

  • W520 support port multiplier, how?

    Hello world

I have a Thermaltake BlacX Duet, which connects to the e-sata and allows you to have two discs.  The condition sine qua non is that your sata should support port multiplier.   I thought that the QM67 supported port multiplier.    I am currently only able to see one of the two disks.   Has anyone got get an external table on the W520?   I would like to know your configuration.

    Thank you!

This isn't. Five of the [e/m] SATA ports are connected to QM67 chipset that does not support the mutlipliers port. (In the technical sheet: Intel QM67, when it comes to defining the SATA controller registers, it is said: ' the PCH SATA controller does not support Port multipliers. ") BIOS must clear this bit by writing a 0 in this field.)

I have the dual dock USB/eSATA Vantec NexStar, and it makes my rather unfortunate W520 if I connect over eSATA, even with a single drive plugged in. (USB is very good with both drives, but it's only USB 2.0).

In my view, there are one or two eSATA ExpressCard adapters that support port multipliers (and most do not have)... but since I don't need really, and yet, I am waiting for an ExpressCard v2 / SATA III / variant 6Gbps before get me a. (If one is already done).

  • Someone at - he run a Windows VM to 7 out of an external 7200 rpm or SSD for Dev purposes?

Hi - I currently run Windows 7 with dev and geospatial software on an external drive (desktop LaCie D2 drive) through Fusion 3.1.  The current is large, so no laptop and perhaps slower that I need, but uses the Firewire 800.  My Macbook pro is 2008 and has an expresscard port.  It isn't a unibody if not real big for a upgrade to multiple internal disks and my current internal drive becomes even more complete.   I use the two OSs at the same time.  So I want to wait on the purchase of a newer MacBook Pro until the next version.  So far, I am considering a faster and more portable player (OWC brand).  So my question is this: would a 500 GB 7200 RPM / Sata Drive be better or a 128 GB SSD would work?  Both can be connected by eSata ExpressCard/34 card cables.  Does anyone do this?  If the SSD is the answer, how the VM and Windows 7 works with it - fragmentation and so on?

Cost is important, but a usable, portable and flexible solution is also.

    Thanks a ton

    Richard

eSata is flaky on Mac, simply.  The new MBP have expresscard slots, so there is no solution eSata all on a new machine.

FW800 runs about 2/3 SATA I speeds up and while it takes a little more time to start, actually run as virtual machine works very well (once it is loaded).

  • eSata problem

    Hello

I have a problem with eSata on my model of Lenovo IdeaPad G560 0679 running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 DK (in Danish). When the connection and the transfer of data through a drive external hard of the eSata (eSata/usb2 Samsung Story Station Plus HX-DE015EB), my computer hangs after 5-10 seconds in the transfer. And yet, nothing happens. Just transfer stops and the computer stalls.
This only happens when I use the eSata external hard disk option. When you use USB2 transfer is correct to about 25 MB/s.

Now, one would think that something is wrong with the connection of the eSata hardware on the motherboard or the connector eSata himself.

To test this theory, I installed Windows XP on the computer, and eSata turns out perfect work with around 70 Mbps. throuput. USB2 was around the usual 25 MB/s.
I also tried Ubuntu OS, and eSata is as fast as on Windows XP.

    So I think it's a software/driver problem with Windows 7.

Someone at - he heard of similar problems and how to solve this problem? I talked to Lenovo telephone assistance, but so far not found any solution.

    PS:
I do not boot from the external drive. It is only for storage.
The external drive is 6 months and worked perfectly until I tried with Windows 7.
I tried to format the drive with NTFS and FAT32. Also with Samsungs own formatting tool. No difference.
And there is no difference if I exhaust all 3 USB connections on the computer or use only one for eSata.
I have the latest version of the BIOS (29CN31WW v2.08), the chipset (9.1.1.1020) driver, the driver Intel Matrix Storage Manager (9.6.0.1014), the driver of the Intel Management Engine Interface (6.0.0.1179). Everything for the 64-bit operating system.
All the updates of Windows 7.
I have disabled the Windows Firewall.

  • ExpressCard won't fit in X200S

I have a X200S and bought a Sigg eSATA II 54 mm expresscard, with two locations for E-SATA.

The map go a few inches into the slot before something blocks it physically to settle completely.

What do I need to do differently?

OK, with a flashlight brighter and more carefully to the research,

  • Voodoo Envy 133 eSATA DVD not hotplugging

Well, I use often eSATA Voodoo DVD ROM but when I expect it to work well. When I insert the unit, I hear the first handshake, but the sound of confirmation handshake never comes. No recognition. I have to restart my laptop to recognize the drive. I tried to understand this for awhile and I'm coming up with nothing.

I don't think it's related eSATA because the laptop recognize my eSATA external HARD drive, no problem. I'm sure you can imagine how boring it is being forced to restart your just burning machine a DVD.

    Halp?

To try to reverse engineer this thing, I removed my SSD ExpressCard drive, who lives a little in the slot. I think that I got it out twice in six months. I NEVER go out.

Lo' and behold, the DVD drive is detected only when the ExpressCard housing is empty. No reboot is necessary. Not really practical, but more than to restart the machine, I guess. Anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it?

  • X 220 mSATA SSD & Questions ExpressCard

    Hi all

I want to take my first ever thinkpad X 220 for the last two months and I love it. She is beautiful and powerful machine.

The machine's high-end x 220 series. The only thing missing is an SSD.

    1. a card Ericsson GSM/GPS system. This means, so I can't install mSATA?

    2. I would like to replace my HDD with SSD. What other other than that of you lenovos SSD tested successfully and help? Lenovo SSD's are * beep * expensive.

    3. what 54 mm expresscardis are useful for me? I would like to increase storage. What brand/model do you recommend?

I have also noticed the screen light bleeding. This isn't annoys me a lot. But I've seen much complaining about this. Is there a solution to this problem?

    Thanking you in advance.

    Hello

The X 220 has two locations of MiniPCIe , accepting a "full-height" card which is ~ 51 mm long.  The other accepts a "half-height" card, which is about 28 mm long.  In X 220, the low-profile connector contains the Wi - Fi adapter (wireless 802.11n), while the slot full height contains the WWAN (3 G modem) adapter.

The slot full height on the X 220 is designed to install a MiniPCIe or mSATA card.  I don't know if the low-profile slot will recognize an mSATA card.  If you want to use an mSATA SSD in your X 220, you need to remove the map of Ericsson GSM/GPS.  You can then use something like a 3G hotspot for connectivity.

The 220 has a X drive Bay 2.5 "hard, but this Bay only accepts a high 7 mm, not the more common drive 9.5 mm high readers.  There are, however, many hard disk (up to 500 GB, 7200 RPM) and solid state Drive (up to 600 GB) that go into the drive Bay.  I haven't used a 7mm high SSD before, but have seen some for sale on the web site of the American retailer NewEgg.

I used a Wintec 48 GB ExpressCard SSD in my W510 for storage and it has worked well, although it hot after being in the system for a while.  64, 96 and 128 GB models are now available as well.  I guess these work identically in the 220 X, but I don't think they are bootable.  Here are the 34mm card rack, then you want to get a small plastic wedge that fills in the rest 20mm if that open is a problem.  You could also install an ExpressCard/54 location with ports USB 3.0 or eSATA for connecting external storage.

    Kind regards

  • Problem of card ExpressCard El Capitan

    Hi guys,.

I hope you can help me with the questions of the ExpressCard I feel.

If I insert an SD card, no matter if I use another one, the system doesn't recognize the card at all. Not appearing is not in either disk utility. The strange thing is though it al works fine after the reboot. But it doesn't work only temporarily, if I wait a little longer before inserting the SD card once again, nothing happens.

My thought is to some interference from the pilot by the engine of El Capitan. But I'll leave to you guys. What I've done so far went on the manufacturer's Web site to search for an update. But there is no. Downloaded the current version and reinstalled. I reset my controller of LANDAU and SMC. But the problem is still there, which is quiet boring.

    Installation program:

    MacBook Pro 2011 (17 inches)

    OS X El Capitan 10.11.5

    Transcend card ExpressCard (TS-RDF1)

Guys thank you very much in advance!

  • Question - the upgrade with 3 USB card and esata

I have an early 2008 Mac Pro Quad core 2.67 going to have maxed out RAM soon and are planning to get a couple of 2 TB seagates Macgurus. I'm a little embarrassed by my lack of knowledge, but I'll put my questions over there anyway. Last year, I bought a 120 GB ssd card Accelsior PCIe mercury OWC - not being aware of the s and outs of things, but I knew it wasn't a port multiplier with two external esata ports. so my question is this: since I have to live with this card can I connect the esata ports to discs in separate outdoor pens and then through disk utility make a raid 0 set, and what size of disc must be effective for the cost the least?  I intend to get a USB 3.0 also so that I can use this speed also.  My other plans must be a drive of fusion with the ssd 120 on the map of Accelsior with a disk of 1td existing in my drive for the system Bay and replace all small readers of seagate more big HARD drive and I'm wondering if the 2 TB is the largest capacity I can use internally. I am on a very limited budget so that's the reason why I'm thinking hdd and if there is someone with advice on a card USB 3 I would appreciate your comments - in fact, I would be happy to comment on everything I mentioned, I'm a little out of the loop on the evolution in recent years. It is possible to configure a raid with two disks of two PPI crd esata ports would there be an advantage with drives of 2 TB or 1 TB disks would work as well for raid 0. Do I intend to put in storage for Time Machine with the USB 3 map, and what size disc would be appropriate for Time Machine? I'm not lazy and waiting for someone to find out - I did weeks of research to get to this point and I just need a little advice. I'm just going through what I know and what I can afford, but maybe I'm missing another solution to try to get a little more speed and back up storage for my photoshop files.

I do only cc2015 Photoshop, Lightroom and On1software version 10.1 using OS X El Capitan and a cg 276 Eizo monitors more a second older Eizo. My usb ports 2 are all used and I rarely use a firewire port. Thanks in advance to all those who have advice. This is the first time that I have not posted anything on this forum

Time machine is a USB 2 connection. No real reason for a USB 3 connection.

There is no RAID in disk utility in El Capitan. Apple dropped the disc utility in El Capitan. However, you can still the Terminal commands to configure RAID.

You should be able to create a set with eSata RAID

USB 3.0 Mac Pro 2008 El Capitan

Make sure that the card said it works with El Capitan. Some cards USB 3 is no longer with El Capitan as the CalDiget of first generation card.

Internally the Mac can also use large HD depending on availability. However, there is a bug that first appeared in 10.8.4 and has not yet been set. To format a plu 2.2 to internal HD:

-Use a disk utility of all Mac OS X older, including the 10.6 DVD (if your Mac can boot from it) or any of the installation DVD player or boost saved work.

-Another solution is to move this drive in an external case and delete it there (assuming your case is modern enough to deal with readers more than 2.2 to.

    In addition,

    To sled mounting internal:

The penetration of the screw depth for 'down-screw mount adjacent to the platters' on some readers from over 3 TB have been shortened. This may mean that the live sled down until they adjust and begin to compress the washers on the sled. If this is the case, your drive will not rest flat on the sled and do not breed with the connector backplane without additional adjustment.

If your laptop computer has an eSATA port, you can connect external 2.5 SSD or HARD disk drive to this port using a common external caddy which was equipped with such eSATA interface.

  • Qosmio X 500-149 - USB, eSATA does not

    Hello

I was wondering if anyone can help/advise on that...

I had an X 500-149 for several years now. First gen Intel i7/8 GB of RAM. Never made any change of harware. Updated the operating system to win 10 months ago. A few days back, ports USB and eSATA/USB stop working. Now whenever I plug a USB device, the led of the unit flashes (Flash regular, rather than flashing irregular during the reading of the device), but the laptop does not recognize the device or display anything on the menu. I've been on the UK home page for my laptop model, but the USB driver only I could find was for the utility "sleep and Charge".

BD of the laptop's optical drive works fine. The rest of the laptop seems to work normally.

Have you tried to close windows and start cold?
The USB controller may just need reset.

  • Toshiba Stor.E D10 on Satellite A660 PSAW3E esata connection

    Hello!!!

A few days ago, I bought a 1.5 to Toshiba Stor.E D10 eSATA HARD drive.
I tried to connect it via the eSATA cable. At first I saw my D10 HDD 1.5 in Win explore (Win 7 Home Premium x 64) as drive E.
When I tried to access the drive, I get a "device not ready" error I was expecting 5 minutes with HARD drive connected externally. I got the same error. When you look in the Device Manager in the records section I couldn't see it. All I see is the internal 640 GB HARD drive.
When I connect it via the USB 2.0 connection, the drive is recognized and working properly. I could transfer data to this subject with 23MBps max on USB 2.0 speed is 60MBps (480 Mbps).
As I work with huge video files (~ 10 GB per hour of video) I need an eSATA connection to expedite the transfer.
