LabWindows DURATION datasocket server browser

Hi all

Can someone tell me if it is possible to use the browser to url datasocket (that popup when you choose 'Binding DataSocket' in the Properties Windows point UIR) when running my application CVI to choose a string url OPC?

And, if possible, how?

Thank you for your support.

Gaspp! I missed the DS_SelectURL function...

Are the DataSocket server and management applications for free for redistribution DataSocket Server?

Yes, Datasocket stuff are free to distribute.  It is in a library included in CVI, so it is covered in the license agreement CVI and distribution conditions.

Here is the license agreement for the software of NOR. http://www.NI.com/legal/license/

Section 13 covers the deployment of applications.  Paragraph 13.B. covers the fees and States that "in general, you can distribute, deploy, or otherwise make available Applications are allowed without having to pay additional taxes to NOR."  He then goes to the list of exceptions where pay you a fee for the deployment, but the CVI Datasocket is not included in the list of packages that charges a fee.

  • LabWindows tcp client server generic

I did a program fom the customer sample in the example TCP file. Now, I want this program to communicate to a generic server that does not have labwindows running on it. Is this possible with only a few minor changes or do I need to start from scratch with a different sampling program?

This is certainly not the case: I managed to connect a PLC siemens-like through the ConnectToTCPServer without major problems.

  • CAObjHandle handle ActiveX object to the NI LabWindows/CVI 2009 Server

Is there a way to create a CAObjHandle on the ActiveX of LabWindows/CVI server without opening a new application of CVI?

A bit of history, I am trying to automate the creation of files in HTML help by function panels. Thanks (http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabWindows-CVI/Is-there-a-way-to-automate-generating-the-documentation-from-... I have found that there is a function that exist to achieve this.

CVI_AppGenHtmlHelpFromFPFile is the function that I need to call, but I got a handle created.

I can get a handle to it using the CVI_NewApp function, but the problem is that it opens a new application of the CVI (which is certainly not favorable). At a very high level I need this feature to treat more than 100 panels of function in order to see how this can become a bit extensive and involved to open CVI every time. It should be a relatively small appilcation of command line that basically takes the path of the file and go to CVI_AppGenHtmlHelpFromFPFile and it does its magic.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

Do you need to treat each Panel function in separate your program calls? If so, is it possible that you could treat several panels by invocation?

If you're really stuck to running a separate process each time, can you pass some indicator of command line to your program to tell him to close CVI or not? If you don't stop it, then your program can always use CVI_ActiveApp and it would keep reusing the same instance of the CVI over and over again. Then when you call your program for the last Panel of the function in your loop you might pass a command line flag saying it close CVI before leaving.

  • Datasocket bug in Win2K - constantly updated

    = OVERVIEW =.

I have a simple Datasocket system which produces a very strange problem on Win2K

After a variable duration (from 30 seconds to 30 minutes), the player datasocket simply stop receiving updates of the writer.

The system features a base Writer DS and DS player that communicate over the DS server localhost. I've included the reader and the writer screws for your tests. In addition, it seems to be easier to reproduce if the screws are compiled into executable files. I've included the executables for the tests. The problem is reproducible when the 'reader' is actually a C++ (using Measurement Studio) program which is integrated into an OCX component (not included).

NOTE: This bug doesn't seem to be reproducible under WinNT.

I spent a lot of time this system... with no luck debugging. I've narrowed it down so that it is very reproducible. Just run the Datasocket server and the two clips EXEs on Win2K (Professional) and wait a while... eventually, you will see the Player stops to get updates.

= DESCRIPTION OF THE SYSTEM =.

The writer of the DS to connect to the DS server in 'write' mode and sends an array of doubles. An "attribute" property is specified as another array of doubles. The writer then updates the connection. The two paintings are supposed to represent the values and timestamps.

The DS drive connects in mode 'reading-auto-update. He is waiting for an update and then reads the table and its "table of attributes.

Take a look at the examples attached... they are very simple.

    = PROBLEM =.

The problem is reproducible on Win2K machines.

After a variable period of time (usually no more than 10 minutes) the single drive ceases to receive updates. The DS connection is reported as "Active: connected" and the status is 'ConnectionActive '.

    = NOTE =.

I use LV6.02 and the latest version of Datasockets 4.0 (370).

2 screws are in the same delivery system: the User Interface.

On the PC power management is set to "always on" and the power to save them all, functions of sleep, screensavers, etc are disabled.

I use the 'old' datasockets screw (open connection. read/write double vector, close, etc.). I realize that the "bug" I'm reports could in fact be fixed if I used the new Datasocket screws that come with LV6i, but we really don't want to use these screws we find the old screws better because:

    1. the older screws seem to be faster to the writing of the major vectors. We discovered this through tests.

    2. reliability of maintaining connections. The older screw seem to be more to the maintenance of the connections.

    3. the new screws have difficulties getting the items appear (and with the appropriate icon) in the window "Browse measurement data.

No other significant network activity is seen when this bug occurs. It seems to happen randomly.

  • datasocket lack events

I have two screws running on a single 64-Bit PC (LV 9.0.1 (32-bit)).  I used these two previous installs on older computers of WinXp (LV ver7) and never had problems I encounter now.

One of the screws (Action) subprogrammes for control of motors and at the end of each sub, I have an indicator that shows the completed feature.  Each of these indicators is bound to port datasocket as a dynamic variable.  The second VI (Terminal) called submarines through buttons radio datasocket enabled in a sequence.  The submarines are called in the correct order, so that each routine expects the indicator show that a sub has completed before moving on to the next sup/action.

Which is very frustrating, is that the datasocket server shows all the usual and datasocket indicator is green, but there are moments that end a sub, but VI "Terminal" does not see the change and crashes.  I tried to delays etc. so that the light stays on for 1-2 seconds, but sometimes it works, then don't.

I tried simple examples of how to implement the Datasocket server, etc., but all examples let me deer-eyed.  I remember a simple white book of more than 5 years explaining data sockets, but have not been able to locate him.

In addition, I have created variables in Datasocket Manager, but don't see how to link indicators to these.  When I go to the indicator, then look for the link in data binding, the variables are not displayed.

(Notice, I ' using two screws as the "Terminal" VI can be located on a remote computer for some facilities)

    Hello

Are the screws you use on different computers where you need DataSocket exchanging information? There is a very good tutorial on DataSocket here: http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/3224 . In order to link an indicator to a DataSocket variable, first open the DataSocket Server Manager and create the variable. Once done, you would open the DataSocket server in order to start the server. Once you have done this, you can place a Boolean indicator to the VI and right click and select Properties. The tab of Data Binding, you would then select DataSocker from the drop-down and then click on the drop down browse and select Server only. Here you can find DataSocket server under the entry for the computer and the variables should show here that you choose and bind to the indicator. Another thing I would check is your firewall to ensure it is configured correctly for DataSocket: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/0D7B86F4B4D19A5E86256F9A006EECB1?OpenDocument .

  • How to generate a working executable from the example of writer DataSocket VI file

I am trying to build an executable file of the example "DS Writer.vi".  The first problem was that the "Control.vi of DataSocket Server" was not distributed with my script compile/install.  I fixed it (thanks Dennis) but now I get the following error message.

LabVIEW: (Hex 0 x 626) cannot open a VI with compiled code separate in a Run Time Engine that does not have access to the VIObjCache.

There is a solution to this (http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/Getting-LabVIEW-load-error-code-59-using-LabVIEW-2010-with-a-Run/td-...), but it involves change a property of a VI library of DataSocket (if I understand though).  I'm reluctant to make a change to a library OR standard, because it could cause maintenance problems in the future (other developers not having the same change, or updated versions of LabVIEW).

Has anyone successfully built an executable using DataSocket?  If so, can you offer any advice?  I'm using LabVIEW 2011.

    Thank you, Mark

Thanks Nathan.  I was able to create and deploy an executable with DataSocket.  The last obstacle was to "uncheck the option"Code is compiled separately from the source file"in the properties of the VI" for the "DataSocket Server Control.vi.  The only problem with this solution is that I now have a custom DataSocket library.  I think that a solution would be to copy as VI or library in my project folder so that the solution is transferable to others in the future.  I would like to hear how other developers LabVIEW with custom libraries, either by strictly avoid that, keeping their own copies, or another solution.  But this is probably a topic for a new thread.

  • datasocket VI of the client side just stops

Hi guys, I'm trying to send his micro-captured to another PC (two PCs connected by a crossover cable). I tried various options such as TCP, Datasocket but nothing has worked. With TCP, it always shows the input buffer overflow. With Datasocket, it shows no errors, but stop just the VI on the remote PC. I was not able to understand the problem. I'm using LabVIEW 2009 version 9. I enclose two screws for your tests. Help, please. Thank you. Kind regards.

    Hi Rocky,

I looked at your code and made some changes. First of all, I couldn't tell why you were dividing the samples/ch by two for the audio playback function. I disabled who. In addition, the "initial data" fed you on the first 'handwriting' VI and at the entrance to the function default data DataSocket Read was a cluster of waveform. Audio data sent through the connection DataSocket are an array of clusters of waveform (a cluster by channel). This probably caused DataSocket problems for you.

I put the configuration values of the sound of what I found in the example of "continuous sound Input.vi' VI. I also added some graphics for Visual indications.

Note that you must have the DataSocket Server (under windows: start-> programs-> National Instruments-> DataSocket-> DataSocket server).

If these don't work, I would look at the network/firewall issues. Also, if you want less latency, consider using UDP straight-up. He should have fewer resources than DataSocket (and with a filter connection, I guess you won't have much to worry about data loss).

  • Not sure what type (Variant) to wire in Datasocket read to a waveform.

    Hello

I have an accelerometer attached to a housing NI USB-6008 and I try to send the readings taken with it to the server datasocket, (see attached files).  I'm not sure what information and variables are necessary to be wired data read vi (Variant) type so that it displays the information on a waveform graph.

The accelerometer is just by the way an analog voltage.

    Any help appreciated.

    Hi Ultramar,

How Datasocket got out before the dynamic data Type was created, it doesn't have full support for this type of data. There is an easy solution that you can apply, which converts the DDT into a table 1 d of waveforms. Screw seal (in the zip file) will show you how to proceed.

You will also need to add an element named 'test' for Datasocket Server Manager, I've included a settings file, you can import into the DS Server Manager.

Finally, you will need to run the DS server and you will get the communication.

I wish to indicate that the 6008 is not the best map to read the values of acccelerometer, but the above steps will allow you to send the data. You will need to change the physical hardware DAQ channel in the publisher.vi DS because I modified the DAQ assistance to work with my setup of the computer.

  • Problems creating a new preset of data element in DataSocket

I'm doing a simple test using datasocket between two computers.  When I use the predefined data element "SampleString" I can write my string value for the socket server data, which is on the same computer, and read it on a networked computer.  When I create my own new predefined given that it does not work.  I get an error saying I have insufficient privileges to read, write, or create items in the datasocket server.  I was reading or writing anyhost to my new predefined element, so I don't think it would be a problem.  Any ideas?

I found the problem.  After you have created a new data element predefined, I have to close the datasocket server and datasocket Server Manager, and then reopen for the new data element is taken into account.

  • 63 error DataSocket write in getWavelength_v80 EDITED.vi, help? Please, I beg you!

Hey guys, I'm new to LabView and I myself thought about all I know.  I am a student at NC A & T.

Good so I took a piece of code that I acquired Bristol, and it's for a Bristol Wavemeter V1.22.  First, I edited to get a graph in there to display the data and get a slope and the intercept.  Now I try to connect it to a computer that controls a ND6000 COntinuum.  We have the existing code for the ND6000 that allows to connect the two computers.  I took the code there which was the part that connects and now when I plugged everything up, I get the error "error 63 occurred at DataSocket write in getWavelength_v80 EDITED.vi" message.  He says; Possible reasons:

LabVIEW: Serial Port receive buffer overflow.
    =========================
LabVIEW: The network connection was refused by the server. For TCP/IP, make sure that the server is running and listening on the port you want to use. Firewalls can also cause a server to refuse a connection. To VI Server, make sure that you have enabled the server from VI tools > Options > VI: setting up the server. »

I tried making sure that everything in the configuration is correct, and it is.  Can you guys please help me?

    Thank you.

I have attached the folder located in because you don't have to have the library feature.  The file is located in the example of wavelength of Bristol meter V1.22\Programming Interface\LabVIEW I.

    Thank you once again!

Then I realized the problem and it was because I didn't have the DATASOCKET SERVER running when I was running the program... Thank you guys for help
