Hello

There's a reason so many things will not allow you to use or access...

Reformat your drive should not be a problem, but you might have had a corrupt installation...

More than one person bought a Windows Setup disc that did not read correctly...

The only thing to do with who is trying to make an image of the DVD and burn them on a DVD again.

If you have a program that will exactly best, you might try that also...

It is also possible that your connection is the problem, but that's a guess. I don't have this problem, so it is quite difficult to test.

You could try to change your username to a Local (Admin) account and see if that helps...

As GPEDIT is part of windows, it is not normally available as an installable program...

I found a link that mentions a tool that will supposedly activate\fix\add GPEDIT for Win 7, 8 and 8.1...

I know nothing of the tool, so use at your own risk...

  • Cannot find gpedit.msc in Windows 8

Hello. I did the following steps:
    Windows key + R
    Type "gpedit.msc".
    Press enter
I get a message that Windows can not find.
I have privileges to administrator and only one account on the computer.
I would like to know how to get to gpedit.msc so I can't disable the daily boredom "Reboot now or reboot later" I get constant windows updates.

I suspect that unless you have Windows Pro 8, then gpedit is not here - as it was not in Windows 7 Home Premium or Starter.

However, you can replicate with this information:

As far as I know, you can't. Home Premium is not due to the HOME in the title!  It is not designed for a commercial environment.

    Hello CarlDesjardins,

Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc) is only in the editions Windows 8 Pro and Enterprise in Windows 8.
See the comparative table listed here on the blog of Windows 8. Please see the Note at the bottom of the article that Windows 8 Enterprise is not listed as you can get this version of Volume License.

    I hope this helps.

  • Is there a tool out of all the windows configuration settings? (gpedit.msc, services.msc)

I am trying to build an audit tool to extract the Windows of my environment settings, and it compares with planning what I defined. This baseline scenario specifies in detail what settings should be enabled / disabled / how it should be configured.

Because it is a large scale environment, and I know exactly what I need, I would build a tool of mine.  I've used such gpresult and secedit commands to get the settings but I can't get all the settings.  I've already got many settings in the registry, but it works to be a bit heavy.

Most of the settings I need are in gpedit.msc, services.msc, although I can't get in/out these values by using a script.

    For example -.
Store passwords using reversible encryption for all users in the domain = on (or off)

This setting is in gpedit, but I can't find this setting in the registry / other functions of command line.  I noticed that most of the information is readily available in gpedit.msc / services.msc although I don't know how to automate the extraction of these parameters.

Could you please help to automate the extraction of these parameters?  I want ths process is transparent to the user / server administrator to reduce the interaction required for the information.  A macro will not allow the extraction of these parameters, while the computer is locked.

I'm looking for Windows 2003, XP and 7.

    Thanx

Another thing when I used "regedit" and navigate from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\WindowsNT\SystemRestore,.
to remove the Configuration value 'disable', will I double click to remove the value or right-click then delete?

    Best wishes

gpedit.msc is located in windows\system32 and memory that it doesn't come with Vista Business they don't think Vista Home or Premium gpedit users need.

and on the deletion you simply right click and delete or just left click and use the keyboard not the BACKSPACE Delete key. Double click on the button simply you can edit the value contained by the key

  • gpedit.msc is not listed as any of the other command internal nor external, but Windows Defender is expected to be cut in group policy

Remember - this is a public forum so never post private information such as numbers of mail or telephone!

Ideas: every time I try to turn on Windows Defender, I get a message indicating it is disabled in group policy, yet when I try to access group policy via gpedit.msc. In the command window, I am told that it is an external or internal order. Regardless, as if it is performed with or without administrative privileges.

    • You have problems with programs
    • Error messages
    • Recent changes to your computer
    • What you have already tried to solve the problem

Have you checked the entires in gpedit.msc to Computer Configuration / Administrative Templates / Windows Components / Windows Defender to make sure that the check box turn off is not checked?

Are you now or have you ever been plugged to a domain network where server group policies were in effect?

Go to start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Services and scroll to Windows Defender and make sure it is set to automatic and started.

What software AV (name and version) are you using?   Several packages different softare actually disable Windows Defender when they install and I'n not sure how they do it - it can be a group policy.

Thank you and I await your response.

  • I stupidly wasted with "gpedit.msc" to prevent some programs from popping up on some user profiles in Windows 7. Now every single program is limited and precise for me to contact a system administrator (which is me).

I tried to restrict a program like already said, but I messed up with the gpedit.msc, now all but one program is limited to me and I tired to go back to the gpedit.msc but it is too limited. I currently use Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit version.

Thanks for your advice, but I'll just format my hard drive and reinstall Windows. Thank you very much however.

    Hello

Gpedit.msc is not available in Windows 7 Home premium.

It is available in the Enterprise and Ultimate editions of Windows 7 Enterprise.

If you want to disable caching of thumbnails, you can access the registry editor and go to changing the location according to the value

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\DisableThumbnailCache

Set it to 1 to disable the cache

  • Satellite L300-1BV - put 'gpedit.msc' on Vista Home Premium

    Hello.

I did a search on involvement gpedit.msc on vista Home premium, there are a few methods to do, now it works for some people, but other people have problems.
I was just checking to see if someone similar to me and has a similar laptop, has managed to achieve this.
I saw had a link and was about to try this method until I saw the comments at the bottom, where the people had stuck and some had managed to do...

    http://www.techmynd.com/enable-grouppolicy-gpedit-for-Windows-Vista-Home/

So basically instead of trying me this method, I have while I post this question to see if you can actually do this, or are - this all simply not possible...

There are already files in the system32 folder, such as "gpedit.dll" "gptext.dll" "fde.dll" "wsecedit.dll".
And I also have the LmCompatibilityLevel registry '3 '.

But even if some people have managed to do this, it must be possible...

    Thanks for the replies.

Thanks for the link. In the past, I didn't come through this theme, but this seems very interesting to me.
Let's see if someone here can write comment or experience with this.

By the way: I am not so familiar with this and would like to know what you expect if it should work?
