Laptop fails to automatically connect to the wireless router.

Original title: re automatic updates for Windows Vista

My wife & I have laptops running Windows Vista in our House. Recently, his cell phone fails to connect to our wireless router automatically. To connect, it must get the computer to automatically get new IP settings for the network adapter. However, she must do it several times to make a connection & must be done each time it connects. My laptop is not the problem. His only started to do recently. What can we do to make his newspaper from the laptop to the internet automatically without problems?

  • Comouter is no longer automatically connects to the wireless network.

Until recent netbook Hannsbook my wife automatically connected to our wireless network when turned on.  We recently took a trip and used a different wireless network.  Back home, he is no longer automatically connect when turned on.  Software Troubleshooting in the Windows 7 Home Premium says he has been "manually disconnected' and it restores the connection.  I deleted all the other networks wireless to the computer.  Page manage wireless networks correctly identifies the network and says it should connect automatically.  BUT IT'S NOT!

Once connected, the router works fine.  The connection is NOT lost when the computer goes into power saving mode. How do we get to resume its old custom to connect automatically when the computer is powered?  My wife is a technophobe and have to mess around to make the connection can be the drop of water!

    Hi Virginia,

Thanks for posting your query in the Microsoft Community Forums.

After the description of the problem, I understand that you can not connect to a wireless network on windows vista computer.

I appreciate your efforts on this issue, however no need for you to worry we are here to help and guide you in the right direction.

Help me with the information below.

-Don't you make changes on the computer before this problem?

I suggest you to disable temporarily security software and then check if you are able to connect.

    Method 1

You can also temporarily disable the security software and check if it works.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/turn-Windows-Firewall-on-or-off

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/disable-antivirus-software

If disabling the security software solves the problem, then contact the manufacturer of the specific security software to fix the problem.

Important: These steps may increase your security risk. These steps may also make the computer or the network more vulnerable to attack from malicious users or malicious software such as viruses. We recommend the process that this article describes to enable programs to operate as they are designed for, or to implement specific program features. Before you make these changes, we recommend that you evaluate the risks that are associated with implementing this process in your particular environment. If you decide to implement this process, take additional measures to protect the system. We recommend that you use this process only if you really need this process.

    Method 2

Reset the router and see if that helps.

Note: to help you reset the router, you can consult the manual that came with the router or the router contact manufacturer.

You can see this help article.

  • Older Acer laptop is no longer connects to the wireless network.

I have an older Acer, an Aspire 4520 laptop.  When my ISP (Qwest) replace my router and the modem with a modem/router all-in-one (Westell 7500), the laptop was the one computer in the network which was not able to connect.  He does not reject the password (if I type in the right), but tells me my connection attempt has timed out.  I typed the password wrong once to see what would happen and he told me that the password has no agreement with that of the router.  In any case, I connected the computer to the internet, then tried the fix to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928233running, but that did not work.  I looked my material and saw that the Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Network Adapter and the NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller were working properly.  I did not cheat with the dissemination in the registry setting, because I don't really know where to find it or what to take if I did.  In addition, the computer logs on other networks without wire (at McDonalds).  Any ideas out there?

  • Connectivity of the wireless router problem

I have a Cisco's Linksys WRT160N wireless router.  After it is up and running, all my wireless devices work fine.  My sons Wii for my laptop, my wifes iPod Touch. But the strangest thing is happening.  I have problems connecting to the internet with my desktop computer that is hard wired to the linksys router.

Often I can connect any... other times it's quite slow compared to when I plug my office directly to a cable modem.  Finally, sometimes certain aspects of the Web page will appear while others won't.

Question: Is damaged?  Or is there something that I am missing.  You would think it would be right forweard enough... OH, I have also replaced the cables from the desktop to the router and have already done all the reboot that I care to do as well as redo the ip address in the part of the repair of my control panel.

    Any ideas?

Access the Page of configuration of your router and lower the MTU size of the router to Auto/1500 to 1400.

  • B210A Photosmart - server connection error and does not connect to the wireless router

I have problems setting up and to connect my router to my new printer b210A. Everything goes well with the initial configuration, and when asked to connect to the network at the start, it works. Then he said that the printer requires updates, downloads of updates, reboots, asks me if I want to activate eprint and as soon as I said 'Ok', I get a "the server connection error" and it is then no longer connected to the network. When I get out of the "server connection error" screen and attempt to reconnect to the network, he says 'Success', prints a Test report wireless, but never connects.

It's the 2nd printer that I have had in a week, given that the person of HP online chatting told me my first printer had problems of "hardware", after experiencing the same problems and I'll be recommended. So - I did, and now I'm running into the same issues. The number of 800 was NO HELP - after recommended I have unplug and reconnect, then telling me there were server errors (when the printer was not connected to the network).

We will set an IP address of the printer with a special focus on DNS domains:

-Print a the front of the printer Network Setup Page. Note the IP address of the printer.
-Enter the IP address in a browser to reveal the internal settings of the printer.
-Choose the network tab, then wireless along the left side, then on the IPv4 tab.
-On this screen, you want to set a manual IP address. You must assign an IP address outside the range that the router sets automatically (called the DHCP range). You can find the beach DHCP from the router using its internal settings page or in its manual. Use the CD that came with your router or type the IP address of the router (ends para.1) in a browser.
-Apply the subnet 255.255.255.0 (unless you know it's different, if so, use it)
-Enter the IP of your router (on the Page of the Network Config) for the gateway

-For the first DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 for the second use.
    -Click 'apply '.

Now, stop the router and printer, start the router, wait, and then start printing.

After that, you will have to redo 'Add printer' using the new IP address.
