    Hello

Can you please tell us what operating system you are using and what model of laptop.

In any case, if your optical disc drive can read CD but not DVD, it is possible that the driver is defective or the lens is dirty.
The first time, please clean the lens.

If this will not help it is possible that ODD has problem with the calibration of the lens.

    Hello

Windows 8 does not come with the necessary codec to play the DVD, but there are many 3rd party readers that will add that feature - on such player is VLC, a free software - see the guide on the following link.

  • Tecra A2 will not play DVD NTSC

    Hi all

I HAVE AN ANOTHER PROBLEM HOPE YOU CAN ADVISE.

IT OF JUST LIKE ABOVE IT IS NTSC ON THE DVD IS IT WRONG REGION? IT OF WHAT HE SAYS ABOUT TV PLAYER.

I WENT FROM NTSC, BUT OF COURSE THAT ONLY CHANGES PHOTO DON'T FORMAT SO NO JOY THERE EITHER!
ANYWAY I CAN'T PLAY ON LAPTOP, BEEN TO MY COMPUTER AND DVD PLAYER, BUT WHEN I GO TO OPEN IT I GET NOTHING

BEEN ON THE SITE OF DRIVERS BUT CAN'T SEE CLUES THERE EITHER.

    SEE YOU SOON.

    > IT IS JUST AS ABOVE IT IS NTSC ON THE DVD IS IT WRONG REGION? IT OF WHAT HE SAYS ABOUT TV PLAYER.

I think that it s doesn't know is not for you you will need to change the settings in the properties of the CD/DVD player to play DVDs from other regions of the world.

    Follow these steps:
My computer-> properties of CD/DVD (right click)-> Hardware tab-> properties of CD Player / DVD-> DVD region tab

Here you can choose country from the DVD.

But note! You can change these settings ONLY 4 or 5 times (don't remember exactly) then the settings would fix and could not be changed.

    Hello

  • My C50D-A-138 Satellite play DVD

My laptop Toshiba C50D-A-138 play DVD. I have my laptop in May and for the first days I would let me play DVDs but since then it will not play them, it's just noise wurring as if he's trying to open but it used. I tried to download VLC and various media players to see if it would help, but it's not.

My laptop will play CD and computer games when I put the disc in but when it comes to DVD, they usually open and I don't get a notification to say that there is a disc in. When I enter my PC folder and look at the D drive and it shows the name of the DVD, but when I click it opens in a folder showing a folder of video content and sound (something like that) and if I right click on disc he D when there is a DVD in and click on "open autoplay". , he wurr of for a few seconds then stops and noting happens.

    I hope someone can help.

You try to play original DVD or just some kind of course copied movies?

    > When I go into my PC folder and look at the D drive and it shows the name of the DVD, but when I click it opens in a folder showing a folder of video content and sound (something like that)

This means that the ODD (optical disc) can read the disc (DVD) because the content of the DVD is available.
The question is: why the software is unable to read the game, the contents of the disc.

There are a few possible reasons for this:

    (1) the disc isn t out to countries in the region that is defined in the parameters of the STRANGE. The settings can be found: (right click on region D drive properties Hardware tab properties button DVD DVD/CD). In my case the DVD region has been set to region 2. In this case, I can play DVD disc released for region 2.
_Note: _ this settings can be changed only 4 times. Then it will not be possible to switch to another area code.

    (2) the software you are using is unable to read the contents of the disc. But VLC player is one of the best players available on the market (free) and it should be possible to play almost all drives using this software. However, the preinstalled DVD Toshiba playback software should also read the original DVD discs.

    (3) another reason why the STRANGE can not read the disc correctly, is the dirty laser lens. In this case, it will take to clean the lens of the laser using a fluid tip and alcohol of wadding.

Okay, it looks like you have a DVD movie with a format audio/video VOB Windows Media Player isn't a time to acknowledge. But you can download the Windows VOB player freeware from this site. Try to install it and to report again.

  • After computer repair, Media & Quicktime no longer play .avi or MP4 files

I'm working on the computer of a friend who has Windows Vista.  A group of computer repair worked on it a few weeks ago because he had some problems which were found to be network settings only no computer problems.  When they give it, Windows Media Player 11 no longer plays MP4 or AVI files.  He will play .mov files but not others.  They used to play fine.  It will play audio, SOMETIMES and ALWAYS shows them as music files.

I tried to reset file associations and all that jazz but no luck.  It has notes of music in folder views, when thumbnail view is selected and when he plays in the media, it shows a double music note and plays again SOMETIMES the audio but not video.

I installed Quicktime for Windows Vista and it will not play them, not even the audio.  Help, please.

I'm very good for Windows up to XP versions through, but am not familiar with Vista or 7.  I know that I'm working on a large number of computers that are both friends and family, and I should get on the same page, but they have SO MANY problems with these 2 versions that I always worked at least 1 or more.  They have never had so much trouble with XP and have made sure I want a new laptop, but I want without operating system so I can install my own choice.

In any case, I need to get the AVI files to work while my friend can see his digital films families.

    Thank you

    Hello SugarAvenue,

It seems to me that video codecs are corrupted with the computer has been repaired. I suggest that you try to download and install the software that helped create digital movies families and install it to check if it installs missing codecs on the system.

You can check the link that will give you more information about the codecs below:

  • I reprogram my computer and now I can't burn DVDs or play DVDs.

original title: I reprogram my computer and now I can not bur dvd or read DVDs.

A virus got into my computer and I had to reschedule. I can no longer watch DVDs on my pc. I use to as nero softwere. is their anyway I can restore the memory of computers? How can I fix?

Go to the website of the manufacturer of your computer/laptop > drivers and downloads Section > key in your model number > look for the latest Vista drivers > download/install them.

Vista recovery media obtain and/or use the Partition Recovery Vista on your computer to the factory settings .

There is no Vista free download legal available.

Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.

See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.

Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...

Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.

Also ask them if it is possible to do the recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

They will tell you how to do this.

Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.

Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, Acer, recovery disk/s etc).
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.

There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.

If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

  • External DELL GP60N USB DVDRW drive will not play DVD

    Hello

I have a new Dell Inspiron 3531 with Windows 8.1.  The laptop came with an internal DVD/CD drive, so I bought a Dell GP60N external USB DVD - RW Drive.

When I put a DVD in the drive that the laptop recognizes it is there, but will not play regardless of how I set the automatic run settings.

I also searched drivers see if mine was outdated, but not found to contribute to the situation.

Any help from the community will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    Heath

Default Windows can not decode DVD video, so you will need some reading software...

Usually, when you buy a DVD player/burner, you get with it, WinDVD or PowerDVD software for video playback and some other software if the device may also burn discs... UNLESS the material was an OEM version, which normally does not come in a box like the commercial version, then you normally get nothing...

So for now the easiest thing is to connect the drive to the laptop and then insert a DVD into the drive. Go to the Explorer, and then right-click the DVD by selecting drive open. You should now see two folders AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS. This indicates that Windows sees DVD disc material correctly and that he also sees the files in the DVD itself... Nothing wrong up to now...

Now, go into the VIDEO_TS directory where you should see a bunch of files, a bunch of. BUP. IFO and. VOB files. The. VOB files contain the video code CSS while the. IFO files contain orders for DVD to play appropriate video channel (flow). Normally, the. IFO and. VOB files will have an affair with some reading software and double click on the VIDEO_TS. VOB file will launch the player. If the player is associated. Can manage files IFO CSS encoded DVD, playback will begin and you will hear the sound and see some video... If you have a drive associated with these types of files, usually autoplay will kick and the reading starts automatically on insertion of the DVD in your drive... But if you double-click and there is no software associated with this file extension, so there is no software associated with these files and you can't watch your DVD...

But as mentioned, Windows does not capable by default DVD playback software, so you will need to install a DVD playback software... One solution is to contact the company (Dell?) who provided the external DVD player and ask them why you do not have the comercial DVD reading and DVD software of engraving that you expected would come with your hardware, they can predict it you if she should have come in your package, or they will tell you where you can download it from...

If they won't help or they say it was hardware OEM and that it did not come with software, then consider using VLC to play your videos, as the software is free open source of quality. This page explains how to use VLC to play DVDs in Windows 8... You can also use ImgBurn for burning CDs and DVDs (not blindly just click on the buttons of large download on this web site because they are advertisements for * you need not, simply the page to the section of news where you have a download link)...

  • Satellite 1400 DVD will not play DVD

    Hello

After cleaning the notebook of the cousin of my fiancee, who had a number of viruses, the DVD player will play is no longer the DVD (it will play data CD, however, can read data DVD as well, but I don't have any of those). When I put a movie disc, it will try and try to read it, and in the end, he gave up. If I click on the drive again, it asks me to put it on a disc.

I tried all sorts of things to fix. The DVD-Rom is a Hitachi GDR-8081n. I uninstalled and let Windows detect it again, I uninstalled the secondary IDE channel is on, to ensure implementation in DMA mode (it was in PIO), no effect. I loaded the latest version of WinDVD, no luck. I uninstalled WinDVD and installed PowerDVD, no effect. I manually deleted cdrom.sys and had put Windows back, without result. I found an update of the firmware somewhere, but unfortunately it simply does not work (it calls for the CD/DVD is not actually present).

Someone had a similar problem and figured out what to do? Search online for those who have had similar problems with other DVDs, the usual assumption is that it is a hardware failure. It is quite possible that this is the case, I guess, but it would really be a coincidence for making it happen the same day wherever I tried to wipe the drive, so I am doubtful.

Any assistance that may be provided is much appreciated. Thank you.

    Hi Elio,

From your description of the problem, I think that your DVD player has a problem with the laser. IN a combi laser scanner uses two different frequencies, one for CD and one for DVD.

I suspect that the frequency of DVD is not working properly. The fact that the player to repeatedly try to read a DVD when you insert one indicates to me that the software works correctly, but the laser is not able to focus properly on the DVD.

Unfortunately, your only real option is to consult an authorized Service Agent or replace the drive yourself if it is the least expensive option.

    Best wishes
