  • When I put my Vista laptop to sleep (or hybrid sleep), it turns off the hard disk completely?

The reason why I ask, is that if the hard drive is completely off then I'd feel sure put my laptop in its case and then walk with it (possibility of jerking around as if he were completely off), but if the hard disk is still spinning and then I don't want to treat it as if the computer is running.

essentially, this question is not whether my information is stored in memory or on the hard drive, what power I am saving, etc..  I just want to know, standby or hybrid sleep in windows vista on a portable computer, the hard drive always turns?

The hard drive (and monitor) turn off during the sleep or hibernation mode.  The only thing is that some things can take the system into "sleep" or hibernation mode (some connectios network can do if configured to do so) how the hard drive and maybe the monitor turns on.  If you pay attention to set up your power options and network options, this should not be a problem for you.  Here's a great article on the problems of Power Options and Sleep Mode so that you can check to make sure that you have none of the problems listed and can be corrected if you: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/63567-power-options-sleep-mode-problems.html.  I suggest you carefully read this article if you intend to be rude with your laptop, because you consider the closed disc.

    I hope this helps.

  • NATEC mouse keeps waking up my laptop mode 'sleep'

    Hello

I have a wireless Natec V55 Genesis mouse who wakes up to the top of my windows 7 64 bit OS in mode 'sleep'. He did not wake up when moving the mouse, but it does when you click any button.

This mouse has a function that hibernates the mouse when the computer goes to sleep or shut down to save energy. To wake up the mouse, it is necessary to click any button. I can't disable this feature, I can't be sure if it has something to do with the awakening of the computer laptop or not.

The option 'Allow this device to wake the computer' tab of the mouse power management is not marked.

Does anyone have an idea on how to fix this?

Thank you very much in advance.

  • Put automatically the laptop to sleep when removed from the base?

    Hello

Many members of our society are using portable computers. However they all use docking stations when in the office. Nature from home they all simply press the eject button on the docking station and put the laptop in their bag. As you know that the laptop stays on since there is no action in the Power Options, simply what happens when "I close the lid.

Some have killed cell phones in this process, it is recommended to put the computer to sleep manually start before removing from the dock menu and go about your day, but naturally not everyone follows this process.

So is my question there a framework built in Windows 7 that will put the computer to sleep automatically in case the laptop lid is closed under power and is suddenly disconnected from the power?

I have searched through ACPI configurations but came empty-handed.

    Any help would be appreciated!

In addition, we are a boutique HP and use their cell phones of class business.

I think that implementing standby when the lid is closed so that hip will probably solve it. Unfortunately I can't imagine a way to detect if it is not connected to the dock because as much as I know Windows doesn't support that.

Apologies, I couldn't help-maybe someone knows if it is possible?

  • HP Envy laptop - 15-ae011na: HP Envy - keyboard and Trackpad not working after the mode 'sleep'.

    HP Envy laptop - 15-ae011na

I have this laptop for only 1 week, he did various updates. I guess that's from Windows 8 to 8.1. He also completed an update of the BIOS with HP Support Assistant.

Question: When the awakening of my laptop mode 'sleep', my trackpad and keyboard do not work, I have unlock my PC using HP Simple pass, then press the power button to restart the machine.

Troubleshooting: I followed some advice for troubleshooting on the support page which lead me to uninstall the keyboard driver then restart my machine. I have all the latest drivers aswell.

Someone has an idea what might be causing the problem? Ideally, I'd like to do a restore or upgrade of Windows 10 immediately.

    Thank you.

Looks like this has been caused some my driver problem with Windows 8.1 and I guess that's with HP SimplePass such that it would not recognize the keyboard and the trackpad after waking up to use it.

I have upgraded to Windows 10 that looks like a solved the problem.

  • Often fingerprint reader stops working after laptop wakes from sleep (Pavilion dv6)

I am convinced that the fingerprint reader is fine. There must be a problem with the driver may, something inconsistent with a recent update of the Windows 7 software?

    The scenario:

    • Laptop works very well.  I put on standby when I'm done and use the mousepad to wake him up.  LED fingerprint reader blinks, and I can drag my finger to log on.
    • At one point, after a few times to put the laptop to sleep and wake, the fingerprint reader does not.  No flashing.  I slide my finger and the player does not respond at all - is not yet tell me that there was a bad reading.
    • If I login and log back in again, no change. However, if I do a reboot, everything is fine - the fingerprint reader works again.

I watched over and over again for new drivers and installed.  Nothing seems to affect this scenario.   Unfortunately, this has started to happen about 9 months ago () and because of the sporadic nature of it, I was not attentive enough to know the 'precise' point in time when it started happening.  My instincts tell me that there was some sort of update software/driver along the way which is originally the fingerprint reader not do not work right.  I hope HP continues a relationship with these companies to fingerprint reader and can transmit these questions so that we can do a software update.  But... I don't know if it has been abandoned.  My laptop is still under warranty, but it would be ridiculous to send in just this problem.

I hope that someone has heard of this on the dv6 and may know a solution.  Thank you!

My system is a HP dv6-6145dx.  I am running Windows 7, with the latest updates.  The integrated fingerprint reader works on HP Simple pass 2011 v5.1 and Validity Sensor driver 4.3.205.0 version.  When I try to launch the Simple passage interface, it loads the database, but then the application disappears.  I tried to uninstall and reinstall the software, but makes no difference with the issue, I noted.

"If you keep an open mind, life will give you more opportunities."

No problem, I am completely I shouldn't bother with Pass Simple version 8.  I advanced and installed version 6.  I did not yet get no joy, so I did a little more digging and found one more late Validity Sensor driver, version 4.3.304 (not noted in the list of update driver for my laptop model).  IT WORKED.  I can now go into hibernation and the fingerprint reader remains functional when the system is out of hibernation.  Previously, it was pretty much guaranteed became disabled.  So... it looks that my problem is now solved.

laptop won't wake up from sleep mode

    Hello

    Here's the quickfix.

Set the laptop to sleep instead of Hibernate. Portable computers may have problems with the Hibernate function. Here are the instructions to navigate:

    1. go in Classic view of Control Panel. (Ctrl + ESC, then type 'control' to quickly control panel access)

    2. double-click on the icon power options

    3. click on "change when the computer sleeps.

    4. click on "change power avancΘs."

Go to the menu of sleep and

    value "Allow hybrid sleep": OFF

    * Set the parameter "Hibernate after": NEVER

Note: You need to type the following in the field, what is not there drop down to select.

This is most likely the issue and the resolution. However, here are a few other troubleshooting steps if you have any questions:

  • Laptop hibernate instead of sleep

I have same messages on this issue and tried several things to solve this problem. But I have in vain.
When I put my laptop to sleep he wakes up with resumption of the quote of windows on the screen. In addition, there are even more time standard hibernate wake. Even the mouse stops working for a while because of hostprocesses for windows will overload. Moreover, I found my cell phone that works in my bag because he couldn't go to Hibernate (powercfg-h off), so it's just vacumed the dust inside my bag for several hours. Sometimes I find my laptop stripped of all power, so I guess it ran for a few hours before it colapsed.

    I tried these.
    powercfg-h off
advanced power settings changing (hibernate off) power management
    reset the startup in msconfig

What I did before this problem.
definition of 4 cores in msconfig to 'boost' boot
Instaled updates several packs (about 14 days years updated win update containing approximately 40 + updated) last month (early September)

I advise my clients to restrict the functions of hibernation / sleep for use only in absolutely necessary circumstances.  It is often problematic and rarely ever fixed.  Myriad of causes that you can spend weeks trying to find.  Just not worth it.

Reminder: The extended notion of sleep/wake is designed to extend the life of the battery.  If you are not running on a battery, or never go, the idea is quite useless.  If you do because your computer takes a long time to startup, solve this problem.  Under normal circumstances if you are finished using the computer and you do not plan to use it again for at least several hours, stop it.  Leaving to run continuously is a sure way to shorten the life of your computer

You can change how these functions behave here:

    1. Start the globe
    2. Type power options in the text box that appears
    3. Desktop computers:
    4. All the features of Hibernate / sleep the NEVER value
    5. Laptops:
    6. Yet once, define all the functions of hibernation / sleep FOREVER, EXCEPT when it is powered by batteries.
    7. In addition:
    8. In the Power Options window, click on change power settings
    9. Change advanced power settings
    10. Put the hard drive stops after 20 minutes of inactivity
    11. Under the previous day, several parameters:

    After sleep EVER

    Hybrid after: never

  • How to ensure the backup of Windows 7 starts and runs until the end on a laptop which is mode standby, or could be put in mode 'sleep' when the lid is closed.

    Hello

Many of us with laptops with Windows 7 would like to ensure that, when a Windows backup is scheduled, it starts successfully and goes to full completion, regardless of whether the phone is first 'sleep', or if the user of the laptop close the lid of the laptop, which would normally the laptop mode 'sleep'.  In other words, how to backup Windows or Windows 7 be configured to wake from mode "sleep" and prevent it from sleep mode, when a backup is scheduled and actively running?

I saw a way to schedule a task that will wake the computer, but I'm looking for something more intelligent than that.  I'm looking to see if Microsoft has already thought this through and allow you to pre-configure operating system such as we have no additional installation software.

    Thank you

Ugh! Registry cleaning programs are all snake oil. Cleaning of the
registration is not necessary and is dangerous. Let alone register and
do not use any registry cleaner. Despite what many people think, and
What software record cleaning suppliers are trying to convince you,
have unused registry entries is not really make you hurt.

The risk of a serious problem caused by a registry cleaner by mistake
delete an entry you need is much greater than any potential benefit
    It can have.

    Read

    Here cleaning product:
    http://www.howtogeek.com/113382/how-to-use-CCleaner-like-a-Pro-9-tips-tricks/

Let me stress that neither me nor anyone else who warns the
use of registry cleaners never said that they always cause
problems. If they have always caused problems, they would disappear from
the market almost immediately. Many people have used a registry
cleaner and never had a problem with it.

The problem with a registry cleaner is that it carries with it
the risk of a significant problem. And since there is no
benefits of using a registry cleaner, running that risk is a very bad
    good deal.

  • No sound after the awakening of fashion 'sleep' on Sony VAIO laptop

Original title: Sony VAIO Windows 8 no sound

    Model #: SVE1413XXP

There is no sound coming out. First, it started after I put my laptop to sleep. When I used it again, there is no sound, but I was able to get rid of it by restarting my computer. After doing this for a while, my computer decided to rebel, and now there is no sound coming out either. I tried to disable and reactivate my speakers as audio device and it did not work. I updated my BIOS, but it did nothing. I tried to reinstall my audio device and its driver, and it worked only after a certain time. I don't know what else to do. I did something wrong? Please HELP.

This issue is not specific to only the audio files, but also online videos.

I tried method 1, but he said that he had no problems found. I tried method 2, but it only works for a few minutes. After I restarted my laptop, I can watch for a few minutes, but after a while the sound would stop working.

The link you provided me is not my area, which is probably the reason why there is no such thing as the model I have. However, I found an alternative where can I find support for my exact model: http://esupport.sony.com/US/p/model-home.pl?mdl=SVE1413CCXP&template_id=1®ion_id=1&tab=download#/downloadTab

  • Thunderbird crashes after sleep in Windows 7, with 38.2 TB.

If I put my laptop to sleep by closing the lid, when I restart Thunderbird is frozen and I need to kill the session and start a new.

I noticed some users have this problem under Windows 10 as well. This week, I had installed Windows 10, but changed his mind and returned to Windows 7, so there could be a link any. But perhaps, I had this problem of TB even before the fight with Windows 10. My sense is that the problem started right after that I installed the version 38.2 Thunderbird on Windows 7.

Turn off my modules doesn't and extensions seem to make any difference, I also compacted my mailboxes and purged from the Inbox... to nothing does not.

I found a solution, which is simply to replace Version 38.2. I went to 31.8 as was the latest general release "non-beta". It snaps back in action without problem my computer talk.

Use help > about Firefox to trigger an update of Firefox 40.0 which has lots of Windows fixes 10 of compatibility on the previous version.
