Laptop will not go into sleep mode

Mode, Sony laptop Vaio VGN-FE855E
Intel centrino Duo 1.67 Ghz
2 GB RAM 667 Mhz Kingston
120 GB HDD
Mobile Intel 945 Express Chipset Family
All the latest drivers as of April have been installed on the hardware.
with Windows Vista SP1

After receiving the last windows update for Windows Vista Premium, when you try to enter standby the computer hangs and will not enter sleep mode.
Before reveiving updates he managed to switch mode sleep without problem and did every time. It will enter is no longer waiting for any means.
I tried windows backup and Restore Center. After you select an older version before April 12, 2009, he was able to enter standby mode once more. Only after that the new updates, it was uninstalled had been relocated was not able to enter standby again.
Initially, the computer starts to enter standby by closing the form. Then it goes weird after that, by the computer itself (which he never did before) inhibition and then it just hangs and the power light will not go to the flashing red indicating standby remains just green, who is running.
The Hard drive is still spinning and accessing the hard drive very fast and light second every two seconds.
When any key on the keyboard is hit the computer restores the sound itself and a sound through the speakers, which he has not already done. It then the screen turns on and brings the computer to lock screen / connection of the computer. I am able to log in and use normally.

Hello, Justin

Standby is activated in the Plan of high power Performance?

You can check it out by going in the Power Options, click on change Plan under High Performance settings and check the computer put to sleep. If this option is enabled, click on change advanced power settings click on [+] Multimedia settings, when sharing media and change the setting to allow the computer to sleep.

Let us know if that helps.

  • System will not go into sleep mode or Hibernate mode

I have my laptop set to this mode on battery power:

Turn off monitor: after 5 minutes
Turn off hard disks: after 10 minutes

    Hibernate: after 30 minutes

However, I don't know if the system goes to sleep, if the hard disks are turned off or hibernate if she is asleep. This sequence will actually happen? Or should I only select one of them (according to the monitor) and let others like ever (except for the screen)?

  • Laptop will not stop or sleep

    Hello

I recently bought an Acer E5-571-54YJ.

The laptop works very well and fits my needs for the school.

Only problem I have with it is that it will not stop or go into sleepmode.

When I stopped it after a few seconds when the screen goes black I mean the closed disc and fans to stop spinning, but blue remains on. I must then manually turn it off by holding the power button.

Even with its in sleep mode. The light stays on and I can't turn it back on again. I have to first manually stopped in now the power button and then start it upward.

I tried to disable the quick start, but this does not solve the problem.
I hope someone can help me quickly because it's really annoying that I can't put it in mode 'sleep'.

If you want more information, just ask.

    Greetings,

    Jean-Paul

First of all, make sure that you have the latest version of the BIOS.  If the update to the latest version of the BIOS fixes the problem, then please don't read any more.  If the update to the latest version of the BIOS doesn't fix it, then continue reading.

    Hello

I have an Equium A60, my laptop is entered 'sleep' mode and when I pressed the button that flashes orange that nothing happened, after trying a few times still nothing happened.

I decided to take out the battery to try to recitify the problem. Unfortunately no power now lights. All of the suggestions.

    Hello

    Strange.
You said, you have removed the battery, but you left it for several times?
Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery from the laptop. Wait 15 to 20 minutes, and together the two sides again to the laptop!

Please post again if the laptop works again!

  • Laptop will not go to sleep when the lid is closed

    Separated from this thread.

Same problem here. My settings say that my Toshiba will sleep when the lid is closed, but half the time is not asleep and I can feel it's hot and turns on the fan. I am so frustrated with this new laptop and Windows 8.1. Looks like too many bugs in the software or something. More I am working on the new laptop the more problems that I find, like screen discoloration as well. The forums are useless. I do what they say, and the problem is the same. Forget the call from Toshiba. Needless. Nobody will help unless you pay them money to subscribe. What customer service?

    Hello

Thanks for posting your concern here at the Microsoft Community forum. Let me help you with your concern.

This problem may occur because of any change in power on your laptop options. If the default is set to hibernation and standby modes, your laptop goes to sleep when you close the lid, but then the Hibernate timer comes in and wake up your computer first and trying to Hibernate. He cannot go to Hibernate directly from mode 'sleep'. Go into the power settings and either disable hibernation or set the timer on a higher value.

To apply the same setting to all plans:

    1. Open Power Options by pressing the Windows key + X, clicking Control Panel, click system and security, and then clicking Power Options.
    2. On the Select a power plan page, click choose the cover.
    3. On the page define power buttons and turn on password protection , next to when I close the lid, choose what you want your laptop to do, both when it is running on battery and when it's plugged in.
    4. Click on save changes.

Tip: To save battery power and quickly resume working, select sleep. Sleep is a power saving state that allows a computer quickly resume the operation of full power (usually in seconds) when you want to start working again.

To apply a setting to a specific regime:

    1. Open Power Options by pressing the Windows key + X, clicking Control Panel, click system and security, and then clicking Power Options.
    2. On the Select a power plan page, click change plan settings for the plan you want to change.
    3. On the change settings for the plan page, click change advanced power settings.
    4. Advanced settings tab, expand it cover and the Power button, action lid, choose what you want your mobile PC to do when you close the lid, for when it runs on battery and when it is plugged in, and then click OK.

I hope this helps. If you need help with Windows, let us know and will be happy to help you.

  • E1 - 572 will not go into sleep more

My Acer E1-572 don't go in mode "sleep" correctly. Instead, the screen turns off, but the laptop is still running, fans turn out this way. Any buttons I press on, the only way to reset the PC on is to hold down the button works / stop and turn it off like that, and then turn it back on.

If your computer comes pre-installed with Windows 8.1, you can start over with vanilla free Windows 8.1 and then get 8.1 Windows drivers from Acer for the Web site. Then do all the updates of Windows via Windows update 8.1.  Then install Windows 10 through windows update (but do not install drivers Windows 10 from the Acer site after a few days of testing).  I don't think that the preinstalled software Acer has nothing to do with the problem.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-8/create-reset-refresh-media

Or if you want to try a shortcut ... just install the driver below. Disable your internet connection in the first place, because the update of Windows, try to quickly download and install the driver IMEI can be problematic.  If you have the latest chipset driver Windows 10 from Acer site, Windows update may replace the old driver Intel Management Engine, so the shortcut I suggest to not work.

    https://Downloadcenter.Intel.com/download/23091/Intel-me-9-management-engine-driver-1-5M-for-Intel-N...

Of course, you want to back up your personal files before you try everything before.

And you always have the possibility to order your original factory of Acer Store software (but this option is not free).

So far, I'm not having any problem / forced stop sleep/gel/white screen/fans.

  • IMac G5 will not load into recovery mode

I have a 2005/2006 IMac G5. I started it yesterday, after a few years in the area. He started well, so I ran the updates. After the system shuts down, it has not restarted. When I turn it on it come to la? and file screen. I tried both Internet recovery mode and recovery mode, but it ends finally in the? and file screen, the screens of recovery mode to jump. I have an external hard drive with time machine back ups. When I restart with the hard drive attached and hold down option, a screen with a return of arrows and an arrow appears, but no hard drive does not appear above them. Any help is appreciated

There is no recovery or recovery Internet in Mac G5. You can install the system is Leopard (10.5) and this can be done from the installation discs. The system initially installed a Tiger (1.04), once again, the only installable from installation discs. Either type of installation disc can be started from to perform an audit on the hard disk in disk utility. You cannot start from the Time Machine disk because it does not contain an operating system.

Your first step is to boot from the floppy to install for any system you have installed - insert the floppy disk, and then restart holding + command + c. When it is loaded (which will take some time) go to the Utilities menu and choose disk utility: run the ERD. If it is able to correct any errors, you should then try to install from the disc.

    Hello MA750,

I read your post on how your laptop is not able to boot after sleepmode, and I'd be happy to help you in this case!

Since the only way to recover your laptop is turning on, then, I would recommend later in this document on a dispute with the sleep and hibernation (Windows 7) Modes. This should help wake up your computer when it went into sleep mode.

To get help, I'll need to know:

The version of Windows that you have installed on your computer.
If your computer has completed all its important updates of Windows.
If you have updated your drivers from HP the HP SupportWizard.
If it is a current or recent problem.

If you have added a new hardware or software on your computer.

Please re-post with the results of your troubleshooting, as well as the information requested above. I look forward to your reply!
