LaserJet M475DN: LaserJet M475DN does not
I'm in a funky difficult situation. I am troubleshooting a LaserJet M475DN from 2000 miles away. I'm in the Rio Grande Valley of southern Texas, 20 minutes from the Mexico. The printer is in a suburb of Buffalo, NY, 20 minutes from the Canada. I try to avoid a full reset for obvious reasons.
The user attempts to send a fax from his PC, but cannot. During my session of telephone inquiry, I learned that:
- The machine is unresponsive to 100%.
- She cannot go beyond the main screen on the screen.
- Run the Windows troubleshooting utility was useless (Surprise, surprise)
- Restart the printer & the connected PC did not help.
- There is no error message.
- It can not print anything to this printer from any computer.
- The printer is visible on the network.
- The phone line works because they have connected the old fax machine temporarily.
- When the 475 was connected to the telephone line and a test call is made to the line just rang but there was no response from the printer.
Where we are at this time, it's got sound turn the printer off & Unplug the unit for a few minutes see if that clears all that is causing the problem.
I really don't know what else to do at this point. Wanted to get this publication in the case where the hard reboot does not work. As soon as I get the results of this I'll post back.
Well, fortunately, the hard restart worked.
But, with my luck, had I not posted the question, he would & I would have lost 20 minutes in addition to the difference in time between EAST & CST. In any case, the moderator, delete this post if you need...

HP Laserjet 2100 does not work after upgrade to Windows 10. Tried using PCL 5, PCL 6 and also tried the HP Universal print driver. I agree, this is an old printer, but I am disappointed told me "the printer is in error" when I try to print after this upgrade. Worked fine on Windows 7...
If the printer is connected using a parallel printer cable, please see the link below for the solution.
After replacing the old kit, the menu of the printer (LaserJet 4650dn) does not disply "New fusion Kit", as it must according to the manual, but still asks me to replace the kit (1700 pages of 'go'). What can I do?
It does not display this message. Must go to configure the device and then scroll up to reset or reset supplies and one of the options is the new fusion kit. Choose and press select and it will reset. Simply launch a menu card in the information menu to find the exact location.
Since the update of OSX El Capitan, my laserjet 2300 does not work properly. I have no problem with my Brother printer, though. It must be something in the driver software. How can I slve; where can I find the updated driver software?
The recent update of the El Capitan 10.11.4 seems to fix the problem. HP Laserjet 2300 works as before! It's a shame, it took this long and caused a load of annoyance with many people!
This is a new printer right out of the box and he can't make it work wireless. I followed the instructions to install the printer, but the HP Smart Install says its downloading the software, said over. Is not further in order for me to set up the wireless part. My computer does not have a CD, so I down loaded the disc and when I start it, it goes into a film on how to unpack the printer, etc., any wireless configuration. I tried setting up this printer on another computer and get the same problem.
Hey there @paxton2644!
Thank you for posting back!
I suggest all initially set the printer to the wireless settings and try again the wireless installation.
To restore the default settings of the network:
1. turn off the product.
2. press in and hold the wireless and the Cancel button and then turn on the product.
3 hold the keys down until all lights flash in unison, and then release the keys
If you already have the software, you can check the configuration wireless in the HP folder. I suggest to try the Wireless Configuration before you uninstall and reinstall.
To access the Wireless Configuration:
1. connect the device wireless to the computer via a USB cable.
2. click on the Start button and then click on the programs or all programs.
3. click on the HP menu item and then click the printers HP LaserJet Professional P1100 series
4. click on the wireless settings menu item.
5. follow the on-screen instructions to configure the product to print on a wireless network.
Before installing the software for your printer, you must uninstall the old software.
To uninstall the software HP click here: uninstalling the printer software
To download the LaserJet P1102w software, click here: LaserJet P1102w drivers
If you bought the printer less then a year ago, then it must always be within the 1 year warranty and you should not pay for support. Since I upgraded my Mac to 10.8 operating system, I'm not able to use my printer HP Laserjet P1102W ePrint. I was told that the current version of the 20130213 firmware does not support this feature. Anyone know when the new version of the firmware will be available to support this feature? Thank you very much.
Manual, please let me know the result.
I upgraded to win 10 (from Win 7), after which my LaserJet P1005 continued to work, but not for all software. So I decided to search the drivers updated and found your support site with the basic package Driver for this printer.
I tried to install, but installation is stuck at first without an error message. That's when the trouble started, because now my printer not working not at all, and no pilot at all move no more.
A list of what I've tried so far is below.
Please help with new suggestions!
-Deleted all the facilities at HP, printer removed from Windows, all cleaned up registry, power off devices and rebooted the system. Then tried to install the base driver pack, but it got stuck again (after 10%).
-Authorized to everything again, as above and I tried to install the older driver full pack which worked partially after Win10 update. Installation got stuck. No action of the printer.
-At this point the printer is even not detected by Windows as a new USB device.
-Restored Win10 to the point just after the upgrade. The printer appears in Windows devices again, but it's offline and it stays that way, everything that I try (followed all the steps on your support site)
-Tried several different USB ports. The printer works fine with laptop Win7, so the cable, the printer and the power are very good.
-Then, I tried to run all the HP diagnostic tools (print and scan the doctor etc) but they tell me that this printer is not supported. In a desperate try, I installed the basic driver pack again and this time he DID install completely. However... She is still offline, and it stays that way.
-J' have an error (yellow triangle) in Windows device, where it is said: Quest Software USB key cannot start because configuration files or registry damaged. But I'm not sure that this has nothing to do with the printer. The printer, however, does not appear in the list of devices in Windows.
Thanks for providing this information @Bastienne.
When the installation is stuck? (when he is looking for the printer, before searching for the printer)
Remove the USB cable plugged in, remove the printer from the Device Manager.
Under Universal Serial Bus Controllers look for yellow exclamation, impression USB Mass Storage Device Support point or anything with an unknown device. Right click and uninstall the device. Disconnect and reconnect the USB cable and it must be reinstalled automatically print driver. How to make in the Windows Device Manager? If you still get the yellow exclamation point, let me know.
If you still have problems please delete the old printer registry files.
Back up the registry first, before performing any of these steps. Back up the registry.

Please describe in detail the best you can of what steps you have taken and what happens during the installation, I hope we can get this figured out soon. Thank you.
After you have reinstalled Windows Vista 32-bit and printer HP Laserjet 1010 and update the printer driver does not work. There is nothing wrong with the printer (everything is checked with the program Microsoft Fix It). When I click on and open the printer it shows that there is an error.
Have you installed the printer according to the instructions from HP, who usually does to install the HP software * before * the printer connection, and you used the latest version of the software / drivers from the HP site, or did you just plug?
And if you have installed the HP drivers / software there is a HP utility test, theres also the option to print a test page through printer Btns
UPDATE: the below solution worked on my MacBook, both running El Capitan. Ignore the instructions provided in the manual of the P1102W and follow the steps below.
I have a P1102W printer.
Recently my LaserJet P1102W refuses to connect to networks using WPA Wireless.
As it does not have an IP address, I can't access the web server.
She also does not connect to my Mac Wireless via Bonjour. The printer will install when connected via USB.
I installed printer HP Apple drivers, that contains the P1100 driver.
The P1102W worked before wireless. I only noticed this anomaly since installation El Capitan and moving the printer to another room with my workstation.
I need the printer to use the wireless network, as I did not have enough space on my desk for him. And I just can't place it anywhere within the range of a USB cable.
Are there alternatives to this?
Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!
I see that you encounter some problems connecting your Laserjet P1102w printer to your network wireless using your Mac computer. I can help you with that.
First of all, I would like to mention that it would be easier to the printer connected to your network using a Windows PC. If you can't borrow or use a Windows PC, the following steps should allow you to connect the printer. If you can borrow a PC, please let me know what version of Windows and I can provide a link to the drivers to configure the printer automatically.
Preparation of the printer
- Turn the printer off.
- While the printer is turned off, hold down the two buttons on top of the printer.
- Hold the buttons on top of the printer and the printer.
- Hold down the maintained for even 10 seconds.
Wireless printer setting
- Make sure that the printer is connected to your Mac via the USB cable.
- Click on your Apple icon, system preferences and printers and Scanners.
- Click the icon of your printer on the left.
- Click Open print queue, printer installation, utility of printer, open printer and HTML Config utility.
- (If the above step generates an error, change your default browser on Safari. Please let me know if you need assistance with that).
- In this new window, click on the networking and wireless tab on the left.
- Under Mode of Communication, select Infrastructure.
- Select your network from the list and then click on the button with the arrows.
- Under Security Mode, select WPA/WPA 2. If you have an old router, you may need to select WEP instead.
- Enter your password wireless in the field below.
- Click on apply.
Now, wait a few minutes. Your printer must change to have a solid blue light. If it is not the case, either the password has been entered incorrectly or there is a setting on the router that the printer is having a resolution of the issue. Please let me know if this is the case.
Once you have a solid blue light:
- Unplug the USB cable.
- Return to the printers and Scanners.
- Hold down the CTRL key and click the icon of the printer on the left.
- Click on reset printing system.
- Click on the button "+" in the lower left corner.
- In this window, select your printer in the list.
- Click in the box next to and select your printer from the list.
- Click on Add.
Please let me know if you are able of print or the results after following the above. If you can print, click on accept solution. If you appreciate my help, please click on the thumbs up icon. The two icons are below this post.
I hope this information is useful. Please reply to this message with the results. Good luck!
I use the HP Laserjet P1606dn printer. I am trying to print the user's Guide the HP for a new printer HP Officejet Pro 8620. The manual is in PDF format. When you view a page of the manual on the computer screen, the page number appears at the bottom of the screen. Unfortunately, when printing the printer manual HP Laserjet P1606dn, the page number is not printing. I tried to use the SHRINK TO FIT to the Laserjet function, but that does not print the page number.
Any advice on how to print the page number would be welcome. Aaron
Thank YOU FOR YOUR QUICK RESPONSE! PROBLEM HAS BEEN RESOLVED. I TRIED TO PRINT THE GUIDE THE USER DIRECTLY FROM THE WEB SITE THAT DID PRINT NOT PAGE NUMBER. I DOWNLOADED THE MANUAL IN THE MEMORY OF THE COMPUTER AND THEN PRINTED THE GUIDE FROM THE DOWNLOADED FILE. THE PAGE NUMBER DID PRINT WHEN YOU PRINT FROM THE DOWNLOADED FILE. WHY IT WORKED, I DON'T KNOW, BUT CELA WORKED.
THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR KIND INPUT1 BEST, AARON
Receive a HP Laserjet 1102w and tried to install it on Mac OS 10.5.8. I downloaded and ran the HP drivers but when I go to add the printer in system preferences/printers and faxes in the list of available printers is empty. I tried several routines suggested by a search on the web about the problem without result.
Everyone out there solved this problem?
Thank you for your attention. I found the solution. See below.
The printer is connected by USB and I also tried to get the wireless connection. I had intermittent progress on both fronts, but could not make a successful installation of USB connection or wireless connection. The printer would "disappear" the list of available printers (using the '+' to add a printer, OS 10.6.8) or does not meet the installation commands. And I could not connect the printer wireless to my network of 'take'
Print the configuration page was of no use. If the printer is unable to connect to the wireless network, it reports the IP address of the printer such as 0.0.0.0.
TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM
(clicking + under "Print and Fax" printer is not displayed or the name of the printer is removed)
(1) replace the USB - the original was sensitive to cut;
(2) give up the wireless - to - wireless set up methods - no amount of factory reset does not erase block of connection of mystery;
(3) set up the connection through a USB cable wireless (good);
(3) to switch the browser used to display the configuration page from the printer in Firefox (for Mac OS 10.6.8 34.0.5) for Safari
(4) use security mode WPA (WEP not as suggested by HP help files).
The main troublemaker was the bad USB cable. Go to put wireless in place assume that the printer can connect to the network. As already mentioned, the WiFi was not working. Network blue light would not come into balance. A transmission option was blocking handshaking between the printer and my wireless router. I tried unsuccessfully recommended factory reset methods.
I needed a good USB connection to access the printer configuration options.
Don't know which increased with Firefox - a plugin bad or something? It would be not just connect them to the printer via IP addressing. Safari worked fine. (The printer is now successfully Setup that Firefox has decided to work too.)
THE SOLUTION IS:
(1) connect the printer and Mac via a cable (good);
(1) use Safari to go to the printer setup functions (through the system preferences/print & / fax options & supplies show printer web page);
(2) follow the recommended configuration options (HP support for Laserjet P1102w, OS 10.6, via a USB cable to connect wireless);
(3) select the appropriate wireless in the list;
(4) restore WPA security mode; and
(5) to give the printer the correct wireless network password.
Thank you and the forum, for your help.
I rMBP (Maverics 10.9.5) and network HP LaserJet 5550 (pilot 19.8). After the last Update my priter won't print A3.

I solve my problem after update Photoshop
HI - HP Windows 8 page info (here), the HP LaserJet Pro 1606dn should be fully supported in Windows RT with a driver in the OS. However, it does not work. On my Surface, running Windows RT, when I go to settings to laptop, then peripheral, the 1606dn is listed but it is called "NPIB8D6C3 (HP LaserJet P1606dn Professional)" and below that says "Not compatible with this version of Windows". I have run Windows Update and there is no update more to have.
I turn on network sharing for my network. (It's on a home network).
Any recommendation appreciated.
Could you please provide3 information items so HP can investigate?
(1) your LaserJet running what version of Firmware?
Hold button 'go' for 1/2 second, this example shows a configuration page that lists the version of firmware
You can get the latest firmware: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=bi-95182-4&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&os=4132&product=4110410&sw_lang=
(2) what router are you using?
(3) what have been the installation steps that allows you to get the print driver?
(should I read you correctly connected your RT to your network, then the printer has shown also available as: "NPIB8D6C3 (HP LaserJet P1606dn Professional)"). You have no other installation steps?
