  Long story short, I tried recently to "downgrade" my husband computer CQ60-210US laptop from Vista to XP.  I followed the very detailed guide posted here and everything seems to work great but my computer does NOT connect to my home network.  It comes as an available network, but when I try to connect it goes on to say that the network is no longer available - is yet to ask security key.  I tried to click on the connection to a neighbor to see what would happen and it seems to go further (it asks me the security key).  I can connect directly using the ethernet to the modem cable.

  This laptop was initially working on my network wirelessly with Vista.  I use a CLEAR 4 G wireless modem.  The signal from the modem is good.

  Can anyone help me identify the problem and propose a solution?  Everything else seems to work well.

  Your wireless network card seems to be properly recognized in Device Manager. And the problem is that you are not able to connect to the WLan router. Am I wrong?

  Have you tried to disable the Wlan encryption settings and then test the WiFi connection?
  You should also try to reset the settings of the Wlan router.
  Sometimes it helps.

• My Mac Pro and HP Deskjet 3070 PowerBook does not connect via a wireless network from dorm

  Both my laptop and printer (an all-in-one) are connected to the same wireless network dorm, but they do not connect on it.  They connect only wire using a USB cable.

  I have for the MacBook Pro and the Deskjet printer IP addresses but no way to use to establish a connection.  I don't have access to the network router.  When I test the connectivity, the software tells me, "too many networks."  He can't make a choice!

  Interestingly, I have my MacBook Air along this journey, too, and the two MacBook have no problem of communication on the same network of dorm.

  Is it possible to plug these devices such as computers connect or should I remain attached to the USB cable to use my new printer?  I guess you know how I feel about this.  Thanks for your advice.

  You are right.  There is no way to bypass security protected by password and thus to connect a Mac to a Deskjet 3070 via a secure network without access to a router, and a password.  However, even without access to a network or a router, there is a workaround solution.  In my case, where the technical ability to correctly configure the router and the printer is beyond the understanding of the management of the dormitory, qualified through the difference to happen anytime soon, it is the answer I need.

  There are several solutions here and you have not specified what solution you have already tried and did not work. Check the posts here and specify what solutions did not work for your question.

  Additionally, you mention that you tried "installation of the wireless network" in Safe Mode. This means it that you were able to connect mode without failure, but not in the Windows? If so, you should try a clean boot to identify the item or service responsible for the error:

  Have you tried changing your primary DNS server?

  do then goto:

  "Network control and Internet\Network connections."

  right click on your card with which you connect, and then click Properties.

  Double-click on "Internet version 4 Protocol (TCP/IP).

  check the "use address next DNS" and after 2 addresses in input boxes:

  8.8.8.8

  8.8.4.4

  Save your settings and see if it works.

  If still no luck to do this:

  Press "Windows + R" on your keyboard and then type cmd in the box hit enter and type following:

  Ping 8.8.8.8

  Make sure that there is response from top of the order, it should look like

  8.8.8.8 response:

  I have an Inspiron 6000 with a Dell Wireless 1470 Dual Band WLAN PCI Card (in XP) and I'm having serious problems. When I got to my laptop it worked fine, and then he stopped just out of the clear blue. It picks up the signal and says it is connected but never load the page (i.e. the connection always times out). I fixed connections, restored and re-installed drivers switched to FireFox, tried to start in safe mode and still nothing (and I've not enabled on my router security). Oh, it connects.   I got my new laptop a G60-230US with Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 yesterday... I was so excited. I quickly put in place and the network manager. He finds my home network (a router we Robotics MaxG 5641), had the exceptional signal strength, I have provided the password. It didn't connect to the network. I have 3 other devices without any problem. Then I disabled the firewall, antivirus etc. on the computer, I've disabled the security on the router and tried... Still no luck. I called the help desk yesterday evening, and a clueless CSR tried to 'Help me' After I turn the router, computer, WIFI (everything that I had already tried), she suggested that I should contact my ISP and get a new password. I explained to him that the password has been created by me for my own US Robotics router and ISP had nothing to with her... She just kept saying the same thing... and I politely thanked her and hung up at midnight...

  This morning, I tried something else. I tried ipconfig / all and I don't have any useful info, except that it says "Device off" I tried ipconfig/release and he told me that the action must be raised. I am the administrator on this computer.

  My Qosmio X 770 does not connect to my wireless modem. The without line on the computer turns on and another computer is able to connect to the modem without problems. The Qosmio connects to the modem via a cable. The computer sees the modem and the modem is next to the computer, so range should not be a problem.
