  I have not installed at all new program last month, so I doubt that there is no conflict, and restore to the point before the update immediately fixing it seems to point to the update as being the culprit.

  Looks like I found a solution. I checked on the Dell site and found an update of the bios and installed. The copy function now works again. I was on the bios 16 and was a bios update which was 12/2009 17. Thanks again for your help.
