Latitude 10 - ST2 Dock HDMI problems

I just pulled up on my docking station and found that it worked perfectly out of the box.  Unlike some others who have had problems, I felt lucky until I tried to get the HDMI to work with my Dell monitor.

It's about that simple, the monitor does not detect a device and the device does not detect an HDMI monitor.  I've updated the BIOS and drivers Intel for the latest versions from today and still nothing.  I'd appreciate any advice or experiences like mine that could help me to get this resolved.

Quick update on my situation.  I was able to get the dock running after realizing that you cannot convert HDMI in Display Port, only the opposite.  My monitor DELL Professional is not HDMI, there a display Port.  Not sure who came up with this idea, but it seems that HDMI is a standard that is good enough to not have to create another.

In any case, I was using a HDMI Display Port adapter--> and after reading upwards, is that you can convert only the signal in a way.  Turns out the other way, of what I was trying.  If you have a video card that has a display out Port, you can use this adapter to convert to HDMI.  I do in fact with another computer of mine.  However, if you have a monitor with a Display Port, you can not convert HDMI Port to display in this way.

Anyway, I ended up finding a DVI switch and turned the HDMI/DVI monitor and everything works fine.  It's a little weird for the signal on the screen, but as you mention, if you start the camera on the dock, it seems to detect the signal.  Without that, it seems random as to if the signal is getting sent to the monitor.  Sometimes, the monitor just says not: 'no signal' until I have restart the device.

Thank you all for the contributions.

    Hi forum,

Yesterday, I installed the tool 'Tool Calibration of Rotation for motherboard replacement services' of the dell site.

I was playing with the STMicroSensorHubTool.exe tool and was stupid enough to run it with "STMicroSensorHubTool.exe/als_cal-clear" and this seems also broke my light sensor.

Unfortunately, I do not run 'STMicroSensorHubTool.exe /als_cal - get' before making clear, so I have no idea of the initial values.

Currently, 'get' throw me the following error:

So what I'm asking is someone able to run 'get' on his Tablet and post the contents of the file "als_cal_coeff.txt" here so I can start with something and difficulty mine?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

    I forgot to update.

    > theroblog.com

I think you're probably right, indeed, he spends some test mode the mode of operation of the detection mode, I get as before and managed to return to operational mode with / switches (I remember more accurate), but who did not solved my problem with backlight, but recovered automatic screen rotation which was also ruptured at a point.

I do not did the thing with deletion/addition of Device Manager devices for the backlight, so perhaps that can fix the backlight for me.

Fortunately, I was able to restore the functionality of the sensor. After about 2 hours of troubleshooting with DELL technical support, I said do a factory reset, and that solved problem with backlight.

For the record I do tried to run 'STMicroSensorHubTool.exe /als_cal - get' (with sensor of lighting of work) to have a backup values, but I have the same error as above... There are clearly some bugs with this software package.

    Thank you!

  • Dell Latitude 10 ST2: Screen very dark after the Windows Update 8.1 & gameplay of Diablo 2

    Hello community,

I just got a new Latitude 10 ST2, and I really appreciated the help until after that I updated for Windows 8.1 and played some Diablo 2. For some reason, my brightness is now always very low, regardless of whether the Adaptive brightness in my power management setting is enabled or disabled. I can manually change the brightness, but it has very little effect. It seems that the maximum brightness is really low for a reason any.

I don't know if Diablo 2 has nothing to do with this problem, but I though that I would include it here because it uses very outdated graphics techniques that seem not very compatible with Windows 8.1. I had to change the compatibility settings of the game executable for Windows XP Service Pack 2, force them to run with 16-bit colors and also to disable the composition of the bureau. After closing the game, icons on the desktop still seemed a little wide (they looked rather 16-bit color and had some weird artifacts) and I had to restart the tablet to correct. After the reboot of the Tablet, the desktop icons were back to normal, but my light issues began to arrive.

My first attempt at solving this problem was in the shape of the tablet. I used my USB stick that has the factory settings on it to format the Tablet and reinstall Windows 8. The process was a success, and I had no problem of brightness either. However, after the update to Windows 8.1, then by restarting the Tablet, my issue with the brightness came back.

My second attempt was to try to update my drivers. I ran the auto updater provided with the Tablet, and it updated my BIOS. Unfortunately, it has not fixed the problem at all. Then, I took a look in the BIOS and found levels of brightness in the video section. The parameters are the following:

    Brightness on battery: 7
    Brightness of AC: 15

I've tried corresponding to the brightness of the battery at 15, but it has no effect. The light problems don't occur that the Tablet is connected to a power outlet or not, I wasn't really that surprised that it didn't work. A maximum brightness of 15 is normal? (what is a percentage?) I don't want to change these settings without knowing exactly what they represent to avoid damage.

My third attempt has updated the chipset drivers which includes the video driver. I installed the chipset driver and suddenly after that the screen went black a few times during the installation of the brightness has been completely restored and colors looked nice and bright again. However, when I rebooted the Tablet I found that the problems of brightness was back. Very rarely when I restart the Tablet, the brightness is normal again, but it is super rare. A subsequent reboot simply results in brightness problems return immediately.

A few other things worth noting that come with the light problems:
    -All color gradients are not smooth. You can very clearly see the differences in brightness when a picture goes to a light color to a dark like a lot of buttons in Windows 8 start menu. It reminds me a lot of 16-bit color;
-Whenever I try to change the display settings in the Intel Graphics and Media Control Panel, nothing happens. No matter how much I fiddle with the brightness, contrast or gamma, nothing changes, even after you apply the settings.
    -Diagnostic in the BIOS tests said that everything is OK;
-The complete diagnosis provided by the PC Dell Diagnostics program showed that each test passed successfully.

I really hope that someone can help me with this problem. The screen is also very dark, it makes it quite difficult to use tablet. Thank you!

    Kind regards

    StevenD91

Thanks for the reply! After much trial and error, I discovered that my graphics driver has been be corrupted by AVG 2014 somehow. After yet another format and reinstall of Windows 8, but without AVG 2014 this time, everything works great! : D

  • Latitude 10 ST2: Wifi / boot SD issues

    Hi all

I just got a Latitude 10 ST2, which came with Windows 8 Pro installed. I'm having a few problems this long search has always been able to resolve.

First of all, I can't connect to our wireless business. The search led me to Microsoft KB2749073, which describes in detail an incompatibility between Windows 8 pilots and our Cisco access points. A single action, he recommends is to upgrade to Windows 7 drivers. So my question is: where to find Windows 7 drivers for the device wireless in Latitude 10 ST2? (She appears as a Broadcom 802.11abgn SDIO)

Secondly, I was wondering if it is possible to boot from an OS on an SD card. I read a few guides in this area, but they were written for the Surface Pro and do not seem to apply to the Dell. I tried taking top flight and get in this menu, but it does not contain an option for the SD card. There is an option somewhere that I'm missing?

    Thanks for reading!

The Latitude 10 comes with active secure boot.  If you disable this option and you enable start inherited, you could be then boot from an SD card.

Tablet seems to connect with the monitor, but the screen goes black.

Connecting the dock the tablet to a TV via HDMI to HDMI works ok.

Anyone knows a solution or having this problem? What is a defective dock?

I have now successfully connected 10 Thinkpad via HDMI dock port to the DVI connector on two monitors of model later. These are: a new U2413 from Dell and a former model BenQ FP241W.

The conclusion is that the HDMI dock may work with some monitors but not others, maybe more, models like the Dell 2007FP. The connection has failed also on a Samsung still more old 204 b.

  • Common modules on Windows 7 x 64 and HDMI problems

1.), I want to run my remote, hotkey utility, and so one on my Toshiba Satellite x 200 - 22v. But... I can't find common Modules for 64-bit (even vista) version, I installed the utility Hotkey for XP on this seven and it works because of the absence of EBlib.dll (which I can't find at Google to download).

2.) my HDMI has stopped working - I watch a HD DVD movie and TV appears black, graphic turns his back on the laptop screen and there is no more - TV this one and others. Cable HDMI and entrance to the TV factory (PS3 connected to try). What will happen? HDMI broken phone?

    1)
Common modules as a tool exist separately for Windows XP Home edition only, and you cannot use it to Win7. For Win7, you use package of added value.
The most important part of this package is components Toshiba driver common. It's something like the common modules for Windows XP Home edition.

    2)
It is not easy to get the right answer. Just restart your laptop and try it again. If the problem persists, try to test on a few other TV to see what will happen.
Post the results and let's see what may be the next step to solve this problem.

    Hello!

I bought recently this TV, im really happy with the performance using VGA, DVB,... but when I plug my laptop using hdmi, image (resolution of 1920 x 1080) port is a bit "fuzzy", the definition is far from great.

Is this normal? What I am doing wrong?

Why do you think problem is TV? You have too much for Toshiba laptop?

  • Portege M200 - weird display with docking station problem

    Hello

I use a Portege M200 with MS Windows Vista and the Toshiba docking station. Whenever I connected the system closed down it will start with low light and different screen resolution. The brightness can then be adjusted in Vista.

To solve the problem, I have to disconnect it, then put it in PC Mode and finally stop Vista. With the next offline boot, it works correctly and can be re-docked. Maybe it's just a lack of understanding of the system? It seems that with a rooted boot, nVidia somehow takes place or is there different profiles?

    Thank you!

    Alexander

    Hello

At first, I must say that Portege M200 is old enough laptop model and I really wonder that Toshiba supports this model of laptop for Windows Vista. You are really lucky in this regard.

In any case very important is info which edition of WXP Tablet Toshiba offered tools for/disconnect. If I remember well, it was utilitarian Toshiba Mobile Extension. Using this tool you has been able to use different settings for Bay service as well as for output screen to choose the correct resolution.

Under Vista it is controlled by Vista and, AFAIK, Toshiba does not have any special utility for this. You must also understand that procedure/disconnect (power switching power supply) is controlled by Vista and I can imagine that under Vista it does not work perfectly.

My opinion is that there is not much to do, but I hope I'm wrong on this issue. Let's see what else users of forum about this.

  • Tecra M5 docking station problems

    Hello

I don't know if this has happened elsewhere, but my Tecra M5 (Win XP / SP 3 / fully updated on MS) boots when undocked, but hangs on the appearance of the first "Loading Windows" screen Re-booting subsequently always results in the typical menu with SafeMode etc... My amateur solution is to start offline and then just plug it in, but my logic suggests that this may not be the right solution. I have run the reinstallation CD and completely re-formatted the system twice, but anything will do. I'd appreciate more ideas... Thank you & best wishes

    Hello

As far as I know original Toshiba recovery image is WXP SP2 only. Am I right about that?
This happens immediately after the clean operating system installation or after the installation of SP3?

Recovery image has been tested with docking option and it should work. I think it's a problem with SP3 which can have a negative influence on demand for mobile extension. This application is responsible for the own berthing and departure procedure.

When you connect laptop to TV do not forget that good ort HDMI is turned on. For example, if you use port HDMI 1 on TV allow it at first and then use FN + F5 key combination to switch between an LCD and TV screen.

When you use FN + F5 you see several options or only one option (LCD)?

  • Satellite L670-1jQ - HDMI problem

    Hello

I bought a brand new Satellite L670-1JQ especially for the blu - ray, HDMI output. I also have a screen 42 "flat with HDMI input jack.
The meaning was to play a blu - ray on the laptop drive and transfer the video to the flat screen.
When I connect the laptop to the flat screen, I can duplicate or extend the desktop. This isn't the problem. The problem is when I move Corel WinDVD BD from my office to the flat screen I see the screen reader but not video, and when I move the player back to my office, that video is displayed again.

Which is in expansion mode. When I try to open WinDVD on the desktop a copy on my flat screen, then sometimes nothing happens at all! I'm doing something wrong? Or the game can't handle the flat screen?

As far as I know that this player will never work on extended display. The reader works only on LCD.
To be honest I don t understand why you use extended desktop when you want to watch movies.
After you connect your screen, use the FN + F5 key combination and switch to the TV only. Start the movie and the BD player. When the film starts to put the player mode full screen and enjoy the movie on the TV.

Extended display will work perfectly when you work with some applications but there must be a graphical limitation and with BD player will not work.

  • Tecra A10 - change of resolution with Docking Station problem

    Hello

I own a Tecra A10 - 14Q and I like it a lot - it is a very beautiful piece of hardware, including the functionality of UMTS.

When the Tecra is moored to the dock Express, and the external monitor (Samsung SyncMaster 22 "with resolution 1600 * 1200) is on defining the Office to be cloned on both screens, passes resolution of 1280 * 800 on the Tecra to 800 * 600 as"best resolution.

I tried Intel and Mobility Center graphics settings, but I can't find a way to set I want to keep the resolution 1280 * 800.

Suspicion to do so automatically is welcome. I found that a program that now lies on my desk that I run so it redefines the resolution to 1280 * 800, but I would like to stress that resolution remains just that it is.

    Kind regards

    YaGru

    Hello

It's not easy to say why the resolution automatically decreases

But sometimes, if the external monitor would be connected to the Tecra A10 directly without using the Express Docking Station?

Otherwise the problem could be linked to the dock Express (Replicator of port express?)

Maybe the 1600 * 1200 resolution on external monitor is too high for the express port replicator and so there are some questions which s my personal suggestion
