Learning curve for a techie non-professionnelle catalyst. Two specific questions.

Thanks for reading. I'm no techno which is looking at the development of Web sites as a secondary skill.ie. have know how atleast relay my ideas to web developers and ideally be able to refine and eventually be able to create my own Web sites.

In this regard, I feel Business Catalyst is an excellent tool for people like me who mitiagtes knowledge of coding to a certain extent. I'm currently going by some content in the forums. Y at - it a book that provides detailed steps to end at the end of the implementation to complete a fully functional Web site and how is the curve in this regard?

In addition,

Business Catalyst offers all in one has, is possible to use 3rd party instead of default tools for a specific function, for example use wordpress for blog and a different email marketing service?

Personally, I tend to prefer wordpress for a small-non-commercial site/blog. Its ecosystem of plugins is much more diverse than BCs and you get direct access to the code if you wish. Modules of blog and forum of British Colombia seem a little as reflections afterwards, designed by traders for the marketing, and there are some bumps on the way in which they implement what HTML and you have access to templates and that you don't have in a different context, so to a certain extent, wordpress gives you more control to fine grain on a site.

The cross pipe of this is with open software source it doesn't necessarily control the quality or the guarantee of maintaining long term you might with BC. Catalyst for business is a lot more initially optimized for businesses (obviously) and its servers may experience a higher load and greater availability than you could get on a typical hosting with wordpress.

WordPress is little-known to be hackable, mainly due to its ubiquity, well that if you work on it it can be fixed to a reasonable extent, I think - I'm not aware of the security issues concerning Business Catalyst, apart from the recent issues with the captcha and spam, which could have been resolved with Akismet and Recaptcha (which you can also get on Wordpress of course) , but personally I do not have all of my accounts linked to a unique Adobe user and password name.

But then again, I trust that Adobe has their * together and he isn't some emerging suppurating sitting at the heart of all this, because the price you pay for playing in the sandbox sand in British Colombia, it's just that - it is their sandbox. They are not releasing the code. If you can't change it with an existing module parameter or can't hack around with JavaScript and then complain until they fix it is your only option.

In short, I think it depends on your needs. He is quite the wrong answer, and both have their problems.     Hello! OK first of all sorry for the long posting!. I'm learning Flash CS3 + Dreamweaver, an experienced Illustrator and Photoshop user. Creating a Web site and I would really appreciate a heads-up with advice or suggestions to help my learning curve!

Tried to contact Microsoft to report the scam but could not navigate a number or CHAT to personally talk w/Tech. attempt to submit info scam online but box for "Details" not big enough to contain information to be submitted. We are trying to contact FACEBOOK to present the activities of fraud is made on their public domain. BE AWARE that generic "suggested messages on FACEBOOK may be a fraudulent link for phishing opportunities for criminals to access your computers and financial information online!"     If you really want the manual, I think that would help to identify your laptop with full p/n.

    Identify the same way I did in my signature with the full p/n, alphanumeric included acharcters.

  • PC specs for CS5 using "Non-Techy.

    My head is swimming with all the talk of tech on the best configuration to run Photoshop CS5.  I've read all the articles and know a lot of you technicians are in disagreement on certain specific points, but there are MANY of us there photographers who use photoshop for portrait retouching, creation of composite, picture banners, etc., and no 3D or video/games but rqmnts are ignorant about these details.  Of course, I have a suggestion on the purchase of a new PC for someone who does not know how to build them.  (I know how to add more RAM...!) ?

    I went to NewEgg and on the power of desktop search, see lots of choices that I don't know how to fill.  For example:

    1 CPU Type: according to me, dual core, that's what I need so I should choose Core 2 Duo; Core Duo or Pentium Dual-Core?  (maybe all the same?)

    2 CPU Speed: I think 3.2 GHz min claimed that I read.

    3. type GPU/VPU: help!  Too many choices.

    4 memory capacity: I think I'll settle on 8 GB initially so should I choose DDR, DDR2 or DDR3?

    5 disc HARD ability: I think I'll go 1 TB, but I read a suggestion of a 3 x 1 TB-where can I determine this? store us a lot of pictures (photography of the school).

    6. I know that I need a 2nd hard drive which I think is for a disc to work (this is a mistake I sometimes get on my current pc).  I like the suggestion of a 1 x 60 min GB SSD, so where do clarify this?  Should I buy separately and watch a YouTube video to see how to install?

    7. I read to have 3 hard drives, application/storage/scratch.  Do I really need all 3 for my use or 2 above would be good?  I use an external and online for backup storage so especially focused on what I have to do my job at the momemt.

    Maybe there is not a computer that I can buy, but maybe someone could recommend a basic model, and I'll find a YouTube to learn how to add the rest.

    I am an engineer in technology career, but I tend to avoid the real nitty gritty gathering different parts, since there are companies like Dell, who are doing a darn good job with the design of the system.

    With the purchase and the 'reconfiguation' of a machine used/given to nine, you take system integration tasks yourself (compared to buying a new turnkey system), but he is nowhere near as involved as an accumulation of parts of system.  You take on the responsibility to replace/repair parts you buy if they have to go wrong, but many do not have their own guarantees (for example, new discs come with their own guarantees).

    To answer your questions...  Bascially you plug the drives SATA 0, 1, 2... Cables/connectors provided on the motherboard, plug the provided power cables, mount disks in their tasks and you're ready to go.  Things may become just a little delicate if the workstation does not come with all the plastic parts who are used to mount the drives in their spots and if you want to mount a 3rd internal you should put it where a second optical drive would go.  You can order these parts from Dell, but I made several corner brackets for small cubes of rigid packaging foam discs, which also has the added benefit of reduced vibration and noise.  Simply ensuring that most of the chassis in the car is open to the air for cooling.

    Once installed, there are BIOS menus in these precision workstations that you access by pressing a key during startup, and they can be used to configure the RAID array, which is not too difficult.  But while she can really improve performance, RAID is not strictly necessary.  If you have used, for example, only two drives (I have three), you can just configure them as C: and D:.  You don't want at least two letters of readers (physically separated readers) for better performance of Photoshop.  You, for example, your operating system and files programs, etc. on the C: drive, then you'd be free to use D: for data files and using Photoshop scratch.  With or without a RAID C: drive, Windows 7 just charge right on, no problem.

  • For some reason, none of my 3 USB keys on my laptop recognize any connection. Help, please.

    It is a follow-up question. My external drives appear in the section work stations. I can access them by along w / the files on it. It's a question that when I'm going to try to send items to readers (all 3 ports) do not recognize that there is a link there. Then, when I click right on and down to ' send to ' drives external hard for these ports (3) none of them don't introduce yourself here indicating that there is a drive attached to it. Therefore, I'm unable to send files to / them. Any port I use at this time.
