LED flashing - need to know the Satellite Pro 6100 POST error codes

When I tried to turn on my Satellite Pro 6100 laptop the Green DC in power light turned orange and started to blink.
It flashes 5 times, then 3 times then repeats.

I guess that this indicates a failure in the system, but where can I find what means this error code?

Hello

You can read the flashing code very easily short flashing means 0 long average 1.
Then you read the complete code back.

Finally, the error code must be converted into HEXADECIMAL value and then a technician of the laptop could know what means this value.

The ASP in your country should provide details of the mentioned error.

Welcome them

    Hello, need information about mainbord...
Is the the same Satellite Pro 6000 and 6100 mainbord?

Satellite Pro 6000 belongs to the PS600E series, and it supports the Celeron and PIII-M (Mobile) processor.

The Satellite Pro 6100 belongs to the series of PS610E and supports the CPU P4 - M (Mobile).

The two laptops are very similar so eventually Sat Pro 6000 motherboard could enter Satellite Pro 6100.

  • How to access the Satellite Pro 6100 wireless network card?

I'm cleaning a Satellite Pro 6100 for a customer and noticed that it has built in wireless card (something they didn't know). However, I just can't work out how to access. I pushed the little switch on the side backwardsa and I rocked forward, Fn + F8 and everything else I can think. But nothing happens.

I even found the Switch Device Network utility, but that is only to show the LAN card.

    Any ideas?

First of all please check if Device Manager in the laptop has an integrated WiFi card. The switch WLan available on the website of the laptop does not. Laptops are delivered with different specifications, and the WLan card is optional.

I think that the WLan card is not installed in your laptop and so you cannot use it.

  • Satellite Pro A40 psa45e - error code: what is the problem of flashing

I just bought the laptop above Satellite Pro A40 (psa45e - 0184 h - en), which came with a generic power.
The great laptop worked until the other night.

The light on the power supply is on, output is 15 Volt, turns on the laptop at the front, an orange light comes on and blinks 5 then 2 then 1, I guess the 521 error code.

Unplug everything and the light goes out then two green lights turns on, then laptop has started twice and started upward (running xp) but then freezes.

I guess the power supply stopped working and the chip has noticed the problem.

Can anyone confirm the fault error is feeding or is there something else wrong.

Need to know before you buy the Toshiba power, I don't want to lose more money.

    Help, please...

How much is your generic AC adapter?

The amps must be the same or greater than what your laptop needs. You can view the Volts + Amp requirements based on the laptop (serial sticker).

So if the laptop needs 15v 8A... you need a 15v 8A or 9A 15v or AC adapter / higher CC.

If the amps are too weak, in the custom of mobile devices get enough power and could cause damage.

You should get yourself a good Toshiba adapter for peace of mind. Cheap generics can be more trouble than they are worth.

  • What RAM I need to use the Satellite Pro M70-144

I have a Satellite M70-144. I need more RAM 512ddrII. I do not know the sound that I have in there now is the name of the "Samsung wk551k" RAM.
Can someone tell me how to put extra RAM?

    Hello

It seems that this laptop just support DDR2 400/533 memory modules.
You can upgrade the memory for max 2048 MB and you use these modules:
    DDR2 400/533 256 MB (PA3389U - 1 M 25)
    512 MB DDR2-400/533 (PA3412U - 1 M 51)
    1 GB OF DDR2 400/533 (PA3411U-1M1G)

These modules are 100% compatible and it works like a dream ;)

  • Need advice on the Satellite Pro M40

I wonder if someone could advise me. We just bought 8 smart tips for our school with these I ordered 8 portable computers SatProM40. When I ordered them I checked the spec as follows

    Toshiba SatProM40 - Celeron M360 1.4 GHz - RAM 256 MB - HD 40 GB-CD RW/DVD-ROM combo - Mdm - Lan EN - FAST EN - Win XP Pro - 15.4 "TFT.

I checked before I ordered that the RAM was 256 because I had heard that it is the minimum recommended to switch to XP.

Laptops take almost 5 minutes to turn on and everything takes an age to work it's really frustrating and they are totally useless for our school because the entire lesson is included with get the computers to run anything.

I checked the system information and found laptops were running of 192 MB RAM and rang the provider. I was told that they used 64 MB for the graphics card and that's why they had provided a RAM of 256 MB computer.

My question to someone who can help:-c' is a normal practice. If I had known this I would have ordered a laptop computer with more RAM to compensate.

He would welcome any advice that would help us get our children working on their new computers. Thank you.

    Hi Lisa

In my view, Satellite Pro M40 is nice unit for school work, but I agree with you really is 256 MB minimum RAM and I recommend you buy more 256 MB or 512 MB, depending on your budget.

    The compatible RAM modules are:
    PC2700 256 MB (PA3311U - 2M 25)
    PC2700 512 MB (PA3312U - 2M 51)

Problem is that this device uses shared memory and that means that RAM will be used also for graphic designers. If there is someone who has a good knowledge of PC that they check all running processes. Many of them are unnecessary and can be disabled. I also noticed that preinstalled Antivir asks (Norton) slow OS quickly. If all units are not connected to the internet I recommend you to remove it.
By the way: there are many applications of good antivir which works well and don't slow down the operating system currently running.

    Good luck!

  • How to install Windows XP Pro on W2k on the Satellite Pro 6100?

    Hello

    I brought a 2nd hand Satellite Pro, model version SP6100 (PS610E-029ZV-EN), P4 1.7 Ghz, 512 MB, 30 GB, with Windows 2000 Pro installed.

I can't connect to my wireless router. The switch is in the correct position.
I have been informed that there could be a conflict between wireless and Win2000 Pro installation. This is why I want to change my WinXP Pro using the key provided with the new laptop (dual operating system). However, I can't reformat using a WinXP Pro disc at first upward, the disc is ignored and Win2000 Pro. If I use the recovery cd (start with holding C and let go when it runs upward), something starts which I presume to be a sequence installation however seconds I see a reference to a (?) drive z, a brief exhibition of three rows of "invalid drive specification" and it still loads Win2000 Pro.

Can someone advise how (or if!) Can I reformat?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    See you soon.

Eventually it s a bad boot command but most often it after pressing the C button the laptop should boot from the CD.
You said something done drive and I think that the start of the player has been activated, but the drive is not able to read the media.
For me, this looks like a disk failure.

By the way: check in Manager device if your laptop has installed the wireless network card. In my view, that cannot connect to the router WLan because the map has not been installed. The WLan switch is available because the wireless network card is optional for this laptop. You know?

  • Wireless causes to the satellite Pro 6100

Hi I have a pro 6100 and just recently, I replaced the card WiFi mini PCI card [PA3171U-1MPC] 802. 11 b with PA3236U-1MPC a / b combo. The site Web of Toshiba shows this combo Mini PCI card as being compatible with my model so compability shouldn't be a problem.

At the same time, when my PC has been upgraded, I also added a Bluetooth PA3121U-3BTM module to my PC.

Recently, I tried to connect via the wireless link and I could not do. I looked in my device manager and it has not shown that the new PCI Wireless card was recognized while previously it showed that Toshiba Mini PCI Wireless lan.

I can see now is that--

Area of personal network Bluetooth Toshiba
    Intel(r) Pro/100 VE Network Connection
    TRP Win Miniport
    GlobalSpan USB ADSL Lan Modem

    Bluetooth

    Bluetooth RFBUS from Toshiba
    Bluetooth RFHID from Toshiba
    Toshiba Bluetooth RFCOMM
    Bluetooth RFBNEP from Toshiba
I was wondering now that I have Bluetooth maybe causing this conflict?
Why is the Mini PCI card is not displayed in my device manager or go through what I wrote more high is this normal? The Mini PCI card has been attached by a computer technician and I have no doubt that it has been correctly mounted.
    Thank you

I think I can solve my problem but I'm not entirely sure.

I went to the Toshiba site we and downloaded the drivers for the PCI Atheros cards {driver WiFi Atheros 802.11a/b/g with support Cisco/WPA for Windows XP / 2000 (v2.4.2.14, 11/11/2003; 3.72 M)} and now in my list I see Atheros AR5001X Mini PCI Wireless Network Adapter
I hope it is the right one?

I can now access the login box for the wireless, which is a promising sign. I can't test it at the moment because I do not have a router at your fingertips right now.

One last thing, when I press my button FN and F8 it does not bring the message that wireless is enabled. It is used for, but not now.
Anyone know why this might be?

  • Need adapter for my Satellite Pro 6100

My charger broke the bit that connects to the laptop itself and I need a replacement. Any standard charger will work on this subject?

    Thanks in advance

Someone has an idea? All work of cord?

  • The best energy savings for the Satellite Pro 6100 for me?

My method of cooling is always set to maximum performance in power savings settings and my Intel SpeedStep Technology is set to Perfomance. I read on the net that the cooling method should be set to SP and SS Intel technology must be set to auto, but I'm not sure about this. I guess I'd like some clarification on this.

I leave my laptop on for quite long periods. What do you think is the best energy savings for me to use?

    Thank you

    Hi Rachel,

Options to save energy of your choice will depend largely using mains or battery power.

To use AC I should leave things as you have now, which is a maximum cooling Performance and graphics.

For use of the battery I set the Intel on automatic and lower cooling affecting something which you give an adequate return, but this will depend very much the type of applications that you are running.

    Kind regards

  • Satellite Pro 6100: IDE ERROR #0 startup problem

When I turn on the computer the Toshiba red symbol is displayed as usual. At this point, I have input a password which is accepted. However, a reading "IDE ERROR #0" error message appears followed by

    Intel Boot Agent Version 4.0.18
    Copyright... Intel Corp.
PXE - E61: Media test failure, check cable of
PXE - MOF: Exit Intel PXE ROM
    Insert system disk in drive
Press a when you are ready.

I inserted the version of bios and all drivers disc that came with the computer. Nothing happens, and the error message is repeated. I have been told by friends trying to boot in safe mode, but am unable to find it in the bios. It has also been said to try reinstalling windows.
I'm not sure what to do and would be very happy for any advice on the subject.

    Hello

Usually the HARD drive is set to IDE #0.
The PXE error if the laptop tries to boot from the local network, but the cable is not connected or is not possible for the start of LAN.

In my opinion, there is something wrong with the HARD drive or the BIOS does not correctly recognize HARD drive. I recommend you to check the pins on the HARD drive. In addition, you must change the boot order in the BIOS.

  • Re: Satellite Pro 6100: can I use RAM PC3200 modules

    Hello

I looked on the specification for this laptop and it does not have to go on 1gig, on the site of crucial, it says to use pc2700,

But the laptop would always fully work with PC3200 (400 MHz) in it?

Also the laptop actually supported on 1gig?

    Thank you

As much as I know the Satellite Pro 6100 supports a FSB 400 MHz.
So, theoretically, you can use the modules supporting 400 Mhz too.

It is important that you use the modules DDR SODIMM 200 pin.
    The Mhz may be different.

    Hello

I put t really understand your problem

The European driver from Toshiba site provides all the important and necessary drivers for the Satellite Pro 6100.

I assume you mean on the XP drivers
    Install all.

In a first step, I recommend the installation of the common Module Chip Set Utility, display driver and then continue with the rest

If you have installed SP2 please check the "Microsoft Windows XP SP2 update information" because some tools need to be updated.
