Left-click touchpad problem, after a few Pro Win-7 updates

A system restore solved the problem temporarily, until this as Win-7 auto-updated! [Win 7 Pro with Firefox on an Acer TravelMate]

Hello

Yes, you can try to reinstall the driver mode safe mode and see if the problem persists. If this is not so much the problem, you can do the following:

Method 1: Download and run Microsoft Fix It for convenience hardware store.

Method 2: Going back to the old driver. To restore a previous version of a driver:

  1. Open the Device Manager.

  2. Right-click the device for which you want to restore the previous version of the driver, and then click Properties.

  3. Click the drivers tab.

  4. Click on restore the driver.

  5. In the restoration of the driver Package dialog box, click Yes.

Let us know how it goes.

    Toshiba welcome,

I've tested this in reverse, this is why the statement in the subject as it looks. After upgrading the bios of 3.00 to 3.50 touchpad loses its precision. Very rude and useless its like that.

I tried different drivers, everything, but the only way to really solve this problem was it downgrade to 3.00 OR uninstall the driver Synaptics completely. Second solution, unfortunately, is unacceptable, because then I lose some features, like click on contact, which I don't use and control.

    Best regards

    Wojtek

    Hey Buddy

I U400 and the BIOS has been updated to the newest one.
The touchpad works like a dream. I m using Win XP and Vista and there is NO problems after BIOS update!

In your case, this may be only a software problem and I think you can use the Toshiba Recovery disk and could reinstall the whole OS from the Toshiba drive

It is a really radical solution because the whole HARD disk may be formatted, but if the resettlement of these two drivers touchpad didn t help then I think this would be the last solution.

It is a strange problem that I have, I got the laptop computer now for a month or two, and I'm sure it makes it I got it. The problem is pretty much the title. I can't press the letters or numbers and then left click without a 1 second or so delay, I also can not left click at all if I hold down without letting go of taken, once I do the delay still occurs. I can press the keys of arrows then left click without thin delay (where left-click is delayed / disabled right click still works.) I know that the clicks get detected as the tray icon still points out the tactile/left button when it is used.

Some information that may be required. The driver is more recent than the one on the download section for this laptop, but I had tried both and still happens. (Also tried uninstalling both and using the default Microsoft drivers but still no luck.) Keyboard supplied with no driver and no listed on downloads. Also, "Rejection of TP" is already disabled.

Come here for some reason that I can't edit the first post.

I decided that I was going to send my laptop for repairs that my arrow began to act ladle which meant that I could hardly play a game at all. I thought as a last attempt I would completely reset my computer using restore integrated Windows 8 and it worked. I can now use the keyboard and click at the same time. Although the up arrow is still a little shady, I'm happy. I thought that I would be post that incase someone else had made this experience so that they can try and so know that it worked for someone else, if you've had the experience and it does not work so good luck to find a solution.

Update - I've narrowed it down, the problem is Windows 8.1 Overview. (Which is in beta so problems are expected). If you are considering upgrading to windows windows 8.1 8 with this model of laptop, I would strongly suggest against it.

  • Elan Touchpad problem, after Windows 8.1 unsuccessfully

I recently updated to Windows 8.1 and noticed that my features Elan Touchpad not working at startup and the dynamic icon was missing from the toolbar.  I went into the settings 'mouse' in the control panel and noticed that the driver was still charged.  More interesting still, after hitting OK, the dynamic icon appears and gestures worked.

Of course, I tried to update the drivers of the momentum, but after that, I noticed that the gestures were different, and specifically, missing four fingers gestures to switch in between the desktop and the start menu.  For this reason, I uninstalled the driver and tried to return to the old with four finger gestures.  Any time I tried to install the older driver, however, installation would break and the system would be self-repairing return to the former State of Windows where the characteristics of momentum Touchapd was missing until I loaded the menu of the mouse and click OK.

Any ideas on how to solve this problem, in addition to placing a shortcut on the desktop to make it easier to load the menu 'mouse' in the control panel?  Is there another available driver where to work the four finger gestures?

Yes Yes. The updated driver works fine . Thank you for the fast support!

    What I did:

    -TouchPad_ELANTECH_11.6.4.001_W7x64_A.zip uploaded

-In the Device Manager, under "mice and other pointing devices, right click on" Port of PS/2 ELAN Smart-Pad "choose uninstall. Dialogue in the "confirm device uninstall", box ticked the ' remove the software driver for this device "and press OK. Restart the laptop.

    -Unzip TouchPad_ELANTECH_11.6.4.001_W7x64_A

-Launch the Setup.exe in TouchPad_Elantech_11.6.4.001_W8x86x64 (which is in TouchPad_ELANTECH_11.6.4.001_W7x64_A)

    -Restart.

The momentum (dynamic) pointing device icon appears in the system tray as it did before you update windows 8.1.

  • I can't boot after installing the latest win xp updated system - missing or damaged/system32 hal.dll

I have win xp and that you have installed the latest updates 7 system - now I can't start.

    I get the message:

Windows didn't start because what follows is missing or corrupted /system32/hal.dll

I don't have a CD system - which can do? everything I read said to alter, copy, etc., but since I cannot start, I can't do it all.

    Help me please, thanks

XP trying to tell you that it cannot find the file.  It is extremely likely that the hal.dll file is really missing or damaged (XP just cannot find it).

You should not have the Windows XP installation CD for this problem.

It is very unlikely that the manufacturer will be able to you provide a XP installation CD, but contact them if you wish.

What would you do if YOU were the manufacturer?  Communicate with yourself?

The instructions in this link to replace the hal.dll file are bad, bad, bad.  If you follow them, you will need to replace the hal.dll file, but it will not be the correct hal.dll file.  There are 7 possible hal.dlls on the Windows XP CD, and check out the generic hal.dll file won't be one you need unless you run a virtual machine.  Clearly, the technical support engineers have never actually solved this problem.

Notice that the thread is not marked as 'response' by the original poster, but by a moderator of the Forum after a period of 5 to 10 days of inactivity where some MSE posted a link to a few articles in the KB (this is how things work here).

You should start by making a bootable CD of XP (no XP media required) Recovery Console and run chkdsk /r first just to be sure of the file system NTFS is not damaged.  Then see if you can start after that (maybe it won't).

THEN, you must use the Recovery Console to rebuild your boot.ini file.  I would like to rename the file c:\boot.ini first then you don't rebuild on top of the afflicted (this part is missing from the article).

I can't understand why Microsoft support engineers seem unable to display instructions to make a CD of bootable XP Recovery Console.

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton and Spybot.
AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

Here's how to make a CD of bootable XP Recovery Console:

If you have no XP bootable media (or aren't sure you have) create a bootable XP Recovery CD of Console and do not forget.

This is not the same as recovery disks that might have come with the acquisition of the system store.

You can make a bootable Recovery Console CD by downloading an ISO file and burn it to a CD.

The ISO bootable image file you need to download is called:

    xp_rec_con. ISO

    Download the ISO from here:

    http://www.mediafire.com/?ueyyzfymmig

Use a new CD and this simple and free program to burn your ISO file and create your bootable CD:

    http://www.ImgBurn.com/

Here are some instructions for ImgBurn:

    http://Forum.ImgBurn.com/index.php?showtopic=61

It would be a good idea to test your bootable CD on a computer running.

You may need to adjust the computer BIOS settings to use the CD-ROM drive as the first device to boot instead of the hard drive.  These adjustments are made before Windows tries to load.  If you miss it, you will need to restart the system again.

When you start on the CD, follow the instructions:

Press any key to boot from CD...

    Installing Windows... going to pronounce.

Press 'R' to enter the Recovery Console.

Select the installation that you want to access (usually 1: C:\WINDOWS)

You may be asked to enter the password (usually empty).

You should be in the folder C:\WINDOWS.  It's the same as the

C:\Windows folder that you see in Solution Explorer.

The Recovery Console allows base as file commands: copy, rename, replace, delete, chkdsk, fixboot, fixmbr, cd, etc.

For a list of the commands in the Recovery Console, type help at the prompt of commands or read on here XP Recovery Console:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/resources/documentation/Windows/XP/all/proddocs/en-us/recovery_console_cmds.mspx?mfr=true

A good idea before you start things must first verify the integrity of your file system by using the chkdsk command.

In the command prompt window, run the chkdsk command on the drive where Windows is installed to try to fix any problems on the afflicted player.

Running chkdsk is fine, even if he finds no problem.  It won't hurt anything to run it.

Assuming your boot drive is C, run the following command:

    CHKDSK C: /r

Let chkdsk finish to correct the problems, he could find.

It may take a long time for chkdsk complete or they seem to be "stuck".  Be patient.  If the HARD drive led blinks always, chkdsk is something.  Keep an eye on the amount of the percentage to be sure that it is still making progress.  It may even seem to go back sometime.

You must run chkdsk/r again until it finds no error to correct.

Remove the CD, and then type "exit" to exit the RC and restart the computer.

You have not to set the BIOS to boot the disk HARD since the CD won't be.

If you still have the same problem (likely), then the value rebuild your file c:\boot.ini as article says here:

  • After execution of the new updated Adobe, HP Elitebook 2760p left click on the touchpad button has stopped working.

Original title: left click not working not not on HP laptop

On my HP Elitebook 2760p running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit, left click on the touchpad button has stopped working.  The right click works, the works of pad, (scrolling and click on) it's just the left click.  It started after the execution of the new update of adobe. I tried to uninstall and reinstall the driver synaptec. I tried the mouse fast and slow speed. I tried pressing rigid, flexible, in different places. I would try to uninstall the update from Adobe, but it won't allow me.  So I uninstalled Adobe Reader and re-installed. Still nothing. Any suggestions?

    Hi cyrilmillot,

You try to run the Adobe Reader removal tool to remove the Adobe reader completely the system software.

I recently posed some problems with my left click under the touchpad. The touchpad is very well when I scroll over it with my fingers, the cursor moves, the right click (it opens upwards) also works very well, but the left click is not responsive at all.

    I'm on a Toshiba Satellite L305D

    Hello

    1. What is the exact model of the laptop number?

    Method 1:

I suggest you to check if the easy access in Windows settings are appropriate.

You can specifically uncheck the Activate a window by hovering over it with the mouse to the title of the ease of access Center if activated.
You can refer to the link below for more details on the same-

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/make-the-mouse-easier-to-use

Method 2:Remove drivers touchpad from Device Manager, and then reinstall.

To reinstall the drivers for the touchpad by uninstalling current drivers

Sometimes, there may be driver errors that prevent the touchpad from working.

    a. Click Start; on the start menu, search type devmgmt.msc and press ENTER.
    b. If you receive a quick click, consent to continue.
    c. expand mice and other pointing devices.
    d. right-click on the component of touchpad and click on uninstall.
    e. once the uninstall is complete, restart the computer.
    f. download the latest drivers for the touchpad of your computer manufacturer website and install it.

Try to follow the link provided to update a hardware driver that is not working properly and check the question below.

  • Satellite Pro L850 - 1-8 - a few problems after the last update to BIOS version

    Hello.

I have some problems after that the latest bios upgrade to version 6.80. First of all, I would like to note that Setup of HW does not work for me. I tried to use this tool to change the settings of the bios without success. This was done also by running this application with administrative privileges without success.

The initial problem appeared after I tried to disable "open Panel - Power on" setting.
This has been activated before the update bios and at some point I wanted to disable, because he gave me a nightmare when you carry because she would then put the computer in a bag.

No matter how many times I tried to turn it off, it seems always enabled in HWsetup.
Another feature that I can't edit's startup speed.
It remains fast even if I tried to change to normal.

    I'm on Windows x 64 8.
    The case is now.

    GROUP OF EXPERTS
HWsetup reports Open PANEL - PANEL as activated, while the Bios shows it off. It is indeed turned on and I could not turn it off. I even tried him for in the Bios and then try to disable in HWsetup, no change.
    STARTUP SPEED
HWsetup startup speed related to 'NORMAL' but actually is 'FAST '. In the Bios, it reports its normal, but its easy to say to his FASTING in.

    My questions are.
    1. it can be the cause?
    2. How can I reset all of the values in the Bios to see if that fixes anything to start?
    3. is it possible to Flash the Bios with a version more old to see if this corrects the problems I have?

I should also mention that 'System settings' has never worked for me. I get a message "Supervisor password check failed". Please note, there is no installed password.

I will be grateful for any given solution. Thanks in advance.

Can you please tell us which model of laptop you have exactly (the complete model name)?

  • E540 Touchpad Government only right click, left click cannot

    Hello community,

I recently purchase a Lenovo ThinkPad Edge 540 and it worked very well until early today (bought around mid-June).
While I was browsing the internet, some how my touchpad developed a problem.
TI only Government right click when ever I click.

I deleted the drivers, though even they knew her point ones, downloaded a fresh .exe and installed after the reset and it not and it still has the same problem.

If I disable the touchpad on the ultranav software and activate the single trackapad, buttons work as it should, the large surface in the Government of touchpad as left click and the small area at the top right are registered as the right click. Although I can't use the touchpad for navigation.

So clicking on does not work, well good or not tapping. Can I doubletap normally, but I can't tap and drag as the choice of a block of text.

Yet once, I tried a new install of drivers ultranav and it did not work. The problem manifested itself during normal browsing, nothing has been installed or changed hardware vise. It literally changed in a second.

It's a really strange problem and I have no idea how to solve because reinstall the driver did not work.

    I appreciate any help, thanks.

Note of the moderator; edited topic, added system type

Good news, happy that flatten you it.

    FOR ANYONE WITH THIS PROBLEM:

    1. uninstall your UltraNav drivers;

    2. restart your plan of the Tower;

    3. allow Windows to find and install the generic drivers touchpad;

    4. Download official UltraNav driver Lenovo support page and install.

  • HP Envy Notebook PC left m6 area hinge separating and touchpad problem

I noticed that the cases on my 3 month old computer was gaping open near the hinge of the left-hand opening and closing of the screen.  I examined the screws from the bottom and noticed that there is a screw missing on the nearest corner of the hinge.  After further consideration, as it seems that the necklace that the head of the screw would be sitting against lacked so that put another screw would not do anything to close the gap.  I had also noticed that the touchpad was so glitch in its operation at times that he has been unsusable and required an external mouse.  I contacted HP through this forum and HP called by email and PM me.  They sent me a box and I sent the computer for them on 3 Oct.  I received an email from their share on the day wherever they received saying that they should have it me 17.  I contacted them to see if the date could be improved and I was assured that the 17th was an automatically generated date and that I get it before that date.  The touchpad has been out of stock and they gave me several dates that came and went and finally got the computer on 24.  Turned on the computer and the device boot saw not found error.  After a few hours of troubleshooting with HP, they determined that the hard drive was bad.  They tried several times to send me a new hard drive and I refused and I wanted to return the computer to them.  I have never replaced a hard drive and you want to start on my new computer.  There is no cd drive and no way to load the operating system on.  There is also no guarantee that the HD is the problem.  They agreed to do the repair.  I told them that I could reuse the box and packing materials and prints a new lable and new ship date.  They said that they do not have a protocol for this and they would have to send another box.  I'm now waiting on the new box and I was without a computer for almost a month.  I will update that takes place the next chapter.

I just sent you a private message. If you are unsure how to check your messages from the forum, this post has instructions.

  • Explorer Windows doesn't do not work when left clicked in the taskbar. Explorer.exe is running in the Manager of tasks for only a few seconds then cuts.

I have a problem with the Windows Explorer. When I left click on the taskbar Task Manager indicates that explorer.exe is running, but deletes then after a few seconds. I can right-click in windows Explorer and select any file frequent or pinned and who opens, okay, right click in windows explore does not work. I clicked the windows Explorer and checked the properties that appear to be identical to my second PC that is also running windows 7 and works very well. I also open the location of the files and tried to launch explorer.exe in c:\windows which gives the same result. Can someone help me please.
