Left SHIFT key of the T40 reveals context/right click menu?

Hello all-

On my T40, on which I recently got properly installed, Windows 7 has a curious behavior:

When I press the left SHIFT key, it works the same as if I had pressed the right button of the mouse.  It works otherwise, I.e., then its use to capitolize a letter in an e-mail, the letter is capitolized, but as soon as I let go of the SHIFT key, the context right click menu will then appear.

It's extremely annoying, because I can't continue typing until I sailed out of the menu.

I checked to see if the keyboard customiser utility is the cause, I have currently my left Alt key works as a button of Windows, but it does not ask this question.

Anyone have an idea how I could go about fixing of this?

Thanks in advance,

G

Too bad.

Had the customizer of keyboard configured to use the time left as the key to the application key.  Duh.

    I don't know if it is a hardware problem with the keyboard but Ive tried many things to resolve this question and I'm not sure what to do. Press my left shift key results in my left side of the window also key be pushed, I am positive im not accidentally pushing it and it still happens if I pull one of the keys. Press button of the left window also causes my left shift button to be pushed. tested with the on screen keyboard and that's what it shows. I tried to reset my keyboard via the menu of languages by switching input languages and reconnect my keyboard and restart my computer, but so far it has not fixed anything. Happen randomly while I was browsing the internet.

    The most likely cause of this problem is a faulty keyboard.  If it is a desktop computer, it's simple and inexpensive to replace.

    In the case of a laptop, it much more complicated and expensive.  Unless you're technically adventurous enough, probably too intimidating for you.  First problem will be to find the right replacement.  Which can be difficult because there are a myriad of different keyboards, even for the same brand/model.  It is a common problem on laptops because the keyboard is the computer cover under.

    Hello

    A defective Explorer shell extension in the right click menu seems to be the problem. It could also be linked to the third-party software.

    Follow the method 1 and method 2 to resolve this problem.

    Method 1:

    To check if the problem is caused by a third-party application, put your system at startup boot and see if right click works fine then.

    See this article for more details.

    How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

    Method 2:

    To see if the Explorer shell extension is corrupted or not, open the registry editor and save the selected branch, remove managers of context menus one by one.

    Important: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click the following link.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/back-up-the-registry

    Open the registry editor and save the branch selected, delete management context menus one by one.

    To access the Registry Editor:

    (a) go to start and type regedit.exe.

    (b) managers of context menus are located in

    ·        [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFileSystemObjects\shellex\ contextmenuhandlers]

    ·        [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shellex\contextmenuhandlers]

    ·        [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shellex\contextmenuhandlers]

    (c) select 'Register' - 'Export register', so you can restore your changes later. Choose to export only the selected branch.

    (d) now remove a context menu Manager after another, and then every time try (Windows Explorer) if right click works again. In this way, you should find the faulty extension.

    (e) when you've found, you must double-click on the .reg created above to restore all shell extensions and then only delete the faulty extension.

    Also check the properties of sensitivity of touchpad and mouse under the controls of the mouse.

  • Windows will behave as if the left SHIFT key is stuck

    I had this recurring problem where Windows will behave as if the left SHIFT key is stuck. I opened the keyboard on the screen and it does not show the key to press. While this issue happens, unplug the keyboard and by him plugging back in does not solve it.

    I'm pretty sure that NOT to be the problem:
    (1) something inside the keyboard causing it to stick.
    (2) the keyboard is defective.
    (3) to a new update/program installed.
    (4) initiated by the user, (seemingly random).
    (5) the motherboard is faulty.

    After searching several forums, it is clear that this is a widespread problem and is NOT limited to my hardware or operating system.
    Unfortunately, it seems that most Tech this fired up as an individual problem and do not give the solution of rolling back/reinstall windows, which are not an option for me.

    It is not last forever, which means that I still have not restart before it fixed itself (sometimes), and I tried almost every combination of buttons to try to repair.

    System information:

    GeForce GTX 550 Ti 2 GB GDDR 5

    In case you need something I didn't not give please ask.

    Once again, I searched for some time prior to this announcement and have found no answers at the moment. Thank you for your time.

    I had the same problem after breaking down or brewing Maj (sticky keys). See if the "Set up sticky keys" or deactivating solves the problem.
    http://KB.IU.edu/data/aaez.html

    Even if you say that's not a bad keyboard, it could be. Try using a different keyboard if the deactivation of the sticky keys does not work. Sorry if it's a laptop and you do not have a USB keyboard.

    By simply pressing the left SHIFT key, the key will work. This means that when you type 'y' or 'x', I get rather 'Y' and 'X' respectively. I have a QWERTZ keyboard.

    The metal contact inside has very probably been flattened. You need to get the unit replaced. If it is less than one year and you bought by your carrier, they should be able to get a warranty replacement for you.

  • How to disable the left Alt key as the taskbar pop-ups when you try to play the game then press the left Alt key

    Original title: left disabling Alt Taskbar pop-up Menu window

    Hello

    I have problems with the taskbar. Every time I tap my left Alt key twice, then left Alt + (1-6) a context menu appears. It's the same thing as right click a tab on your taskbar for anyone who is struggling to recreate my problem. Right Alt does not cause this problem.

    It is very bad news for me as the focus of changes in context menu of what I do. I play video games in my free time and have game left keybinds for Alt + 1,2 & 3. I will support on these keybinds quickly all while playing. This will cause the context menu for taskbar activate and I'll be tabbed out of my game.

    I searched for weeks trying to solve this problem and I have not found any that is worked. I tried to disable the jump lists. I tried to change the registry for a right click on the taskbar. I saw patches of this forum and several others and nothing I found works.

    Recently, I contacted Microsoft to the it Department by phone and said they knew exactly how to fix this and if I have to pay $50 to one of their technicians have to connect to my computer that they would have this problem corrected in the blink of an eye. I find this limit extortion honestly and I hope someone had this problem and can provide steps on fixing it.

    Thank you

    Ryan LeBlanc

    Thank you for your answer, but the answer you provided is for a question that is different from what I was living. Your link has solved a problem with someone who has the taskbar pop up when their mouse/cursor passes over. My problem was to have a drop down of the taskbar appear whenever I type left Alt + 1/2/3/4 etc.

    However, I have since fixed. If there is anyone else out there with this problem, it's a hardware problem with my keyboard. I couldn't get anyone to recreate my problem by pressing left Alt + 1, etc. (although you can recreate my problem to click with the right button on a program in the task bar), so I reset my left Alt key. After resetting my left Alt key this problem does occur more (yay)

    Thank you

  • Long left clicking displays the right click menu

    When I press and hold the left mouse button, the right-click menu is displayed.
    I want to turn this feature off, but can't remember which extension it controls or if the function is built into Firefox.

    Hooray! Found! Thank you Google.

    I found an old - very old - thread on Mozillazine.org:

    http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=38 & t = 340572

    And it IS a normal feature of Firefox, but it is normally OFF.

    I think I need to have recently turned it on after reading an article of "Tips and tricks of Firefox" somewhere.

    In any case, the preference is called 'ui.click_hold_context_menus '.

    And I just remembered that I added it in my preferences file "user.js", among a load of others:

    /*

    * Disable the Delay When Installing New Extensions
    */

    user_pref ("security.dialog_enable_delay", 0);
    /*

    * To turn off the URL greying
    */

    user_pref ("browser.urlbar.formatting.enabled", false);
    /*

    * To unhide the "http" portion of a URL
    */

    user_pref ("browser.urlbar.trimURLs", false);
    /*

    * Enable spell checker in multi-line text boxes & single-line text boxes
    */

    user_pref ("layout.spellcheckDefault", 2);
    /*

    *   Double underline style
    */

    user_pref ("ui. SpellCheckerUnderlineStyle «(, 4);
    /*

    * Cycle through open tabs with Ctrl+Tab
    */

    user_pref ("browser.ctrlTab.previews", false);
    /*

    * Disable Animations for Full Screen
    */

    user_pref ("browser.fullscreen.animateUp", 0);
    /*

    * Click and hold on a hyperlink to show the context menu
    */

    user_pref ("ui.click_hold_context_menus", true);
    /*

    * Instant Apply Preferences Without Closing Options Window
    */

    user_pref ("browser.preferences.instantApply", true);
    /*

    * Middle-click in any textfield, addressbar or searchbox to paste clipboard
    */

    user_pref ("middlemouse.paste", true);

    So there's a lesson here: do not add too many settings to your preferences of Firefox at the same time or you may forget what you were doing!

    Thank you, all. I will now mark this as "resolved".

  • do not click on the menu that appears when I right-click my taskbar, such as the right click menu disappears when I move the mouse the right click menu

    PROBLEM: CONTEXT MENU DISAPPEARS WHEN YOU TRY ON THE LEFT, CLICK AN OPTION

    Hello
    I'm using Windows 7, and I could always
    go to my taskbar and right click
    Icons and active icons, bring to the top
    the list on the right click on the standard Menu.

    PROBLEM
    As soon as I moved my mouse away from
    the background of windows 7 taskbar to go a couple
    millimetres above on the left, click an option in
    I opened with my right click context Menu
    The whole Menu disappears, and it happens in
    Firefox version 29.01, other programs in Firefox,
    and others such as Skype.
    When I was running Firefox 28
    I didn't have this problem, can you help out me.
    Thank you
    Kev Borg

    PROBLEM
    MAKE ONE CLICK RIGHT MENU DISAPPEARS WHEN YOU MOVE YOUR MOUSE TO THE LEFT, CLICK ON A MENU OPTION IN THE RIGHT CLICK MENU.

    'YOU can not because WHEN YOU MOVE YOUR MOUSE TO THE MENU YOU JUST a RIGHT CLIC ON OPEN DISAPPEARS before you HAVE a CHANCE TO CLICK LEFT of YOUR CHOICE. "

    SOLUTION
    [ 1] GO TO control PANEL AND click HERE FOR the VIEW MENU
    [ 2] GO to "EASE of ACCESS CENTER" AT the TOP.
    [ 3] LEFT CLICK ON the MENU ITEM "theEASE of ACCESS CENTER.
    [ 4] AFTER YOU are a LEFT CLICK ON 'EASE of ACCESS CENTER' seems.
    [ 5] LOOK down THE LIST UNTIL YOU FIND to "MAKE THE MOUSE EASIER to USE".
    [ 5] THE UPPER SHOWS YOU HOW to CHANGE YOUR MOUSE COLORS ETC.
    [ 6] SCROLL DOWN UNTIL YOU SEE THIS TOPIC "MAKE IT EASIER to MANAGE WINDOWS".
    [ 7] UNDER this MENU, there is check.
    "ACTIVATE a WINDOW BY HOVERING over IT WITH YOUR MOUSE"

    [8] ARE OF COURSE IS NOT A CHECK MARK IN THIS BOX TO OPTION, IS THERE A CHECK IT AND APPLY AND CLICK OK TO SAVE.

    And now, you should have no more problems with your right click Menu disappears when you move your mouse over the menu left click on a menu item on a right click menu.

    SOLUTION SOLVES THE PROBLEM.

    Thank you and I hope this answer help all the other people who have had this frustrating problem.

    I was on facebook and remove an icon by using the right-click menu, but then all my photos and pictures of profile, could no longer be seen. I was able to view them in the browser, so it's something I've done in Firefox. How can I unlock a site?

    If you select that right click menu context then you block all images from this area and not a specific image, so do not use that.

    • Check exceptions in tools > Options > content: Load Images > Exceptions (for example sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net)

    You can use the following steps to check if the images are blocked:

    • Click on the "More information" button to open the "Page Info" with the Security tab selected (also accessible via "tools > Page Info").
    • Go to the Media of the window tab "tools > Page Info.
    • Select the first link of the image and scroll down through the list with the arrow down.
    • If an image in the list is grayed out and there is a check mark in the box "block Images of..." and remove this mark to unlock the images from this area.

  • Is it possible to customize the right-click menu?

    I use FF4 RC2 and I wonder if it is possible to customize the context menu? In FF3 if you right click on a tab lists ' new tab '. Reload tab reload all tabs... "etc. but in FF4 if you right click on a tab lists only "Reload Tab | PIN as App Tab... "etc.

    I really really use the right click-> new tab in FF3 A LOT! It was a HUGE disappointment for me when I started using FF4. Is there anyway that I could add the button tab in the right click menu?

    Thanks in advance!

    Not that I know of. You can use file > new tab or Firefox > tab in addition to what I posted above.

    Maybe an extension like Tab Mix Plus can add this feature in the context menu of the Tab bar.

  • Disable the right click Menu of the WebBrowser

    Hi all

    I use a WebBrowser control to display a Test report in XML format.  The problem I have is that right-clicking on WebBrowser displays a context menu.  Anyone know how to remove the right click menu option?  If not does anyone know a method to display XML files using an indicator that does not include a right click menu?

    I've tried to filter the clicks right on WebBrowser, as shown, but this seems to need the delay of 500ms (?) to work on my machine of dev of LV and is not reliable when my application is integrated in an EXE and deployed in a LV Run Time System.

    Concerning

    Steve

    Hi SercoSteveB,

    Because the WebBrowser of LabVIEW control uses Internet Explorer. The best way to disable the contextual framework

    menu is disable in fact from the Internet Explorer itself. I think that your default browser is not Internet Explorer,

    It is therefore prudent to disable right click here.

    Here is the manual that explains how do:

    Activate or deactivate the contextual menus right click in Windows Explorer

    http://www.thewindowsclub.com/enable-disable-right-click-context-menus-Windows-Explorer

    I hope that helps!
