Legacy bios boot vs uefi
so the only way I could figure at the start of media to clean install was to boot from... legacy mode is there an "easy way" to swap the boot of inheritance in uefi? I only ask because it takes about 3 minutes to boot from legacy instead of 20 seconds and my ssd drive is missing?
If you dΘmarrez from a USB drive.
The USB key must be created in the UEFI-bootable mode, otherwise it will not be recognized in UEFI mode.

HP ENVY 17-n013na: the Legacy BIOS boot option does not work
Support dear HP team,
I recently bought for laptop HP ENVY 17-n013na . It came with Windows 8.1. I have to install Windows 7. Unfortunately, the legacy in BIOS boot option does not work for me. Here is detailed information:
BIOS version: F.04 Rev 5.0
I tried updating to the latest version of the BIOS on the Support site.
To activate the option to boot legacy, I followed the following steps:
- Entered, BIOS configuration utility
- Go to the System Configuration
- > Boot options
- Changed the setting to the Legacy Support on " Enabled"
- F10 - save changes & exit
Now, after the restart, if I go once more, configuration of the BIOS Legacy Support is set to disabled. Whenever I have change to active BIOS, Save & Exit, it is up to the people with reduced mobility. Because of that I can't run the installer of Windows 7 DVD.
Please provide any help & suggestions.
Thank you.
Kind regards
Eugene
I managed to pass in Legacy mode as follows: http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/13326-downgrade-windows-8-windows-7-a.html
Reset the BIOS helped: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6KUyZIJ0xOc
Can close the topic now.
Thank you.

HP 17.3 E0067cl UEFI BIOS. boot order fails.
total of history: end-to-end.
subject, the flash player. 23 to 32GB (mine is 32 Sandisk USB3, extreme, written 100 MB/s.
will not work with rebecca, or (what we call it now)
It won't work, create backup USB flash, "" create the recovery disk ".
It just shows the "daisy" spinning throughout the day. on a brand new laptop HP, 20 July 2014, new in box.
I just ran sfc /scan now and spend.
my best guess it that windows update to 8.0 (100) killed this "feature".
or my 8.1 updated. (toss the coin)
I ordered the new installation of HP for $18 disc...
so bad to close this topic, with "operator error", never update then try running to build your own, backup media.
RIP
later...
the second problem is that the bios does not allow. My next update.
a new SSD.
I got it to work. but the BIOS does not see the two disks. ! (in bios boot order) UEFI.
I solved this problem by removing the 2 left 1, the old HARD disk.
now the SSDS works like the lighting and the BIOS, can be ignored.
I used Acronis to make the all the steps above tib files and evolutions'm so good... and made and a huge external drive.
problem solved.
closed...
This has something to do with what we were talking about earlier on recovery and flash player?

Possible to install Win 8 of recovery in Legacy Bios mode discs?
Is it possible to install Win 8 of recovery disks in Legacy Bios instead of UEFI mode, as it comes with?
Or will install it automatically use UEFI mode and configure start secure even if your bios is set to Legacy Bios installation mode for Windows 8?
In addition,
If I install a clean copy of windows 8 from the official Microsoft Windows 8 Core RTM dvd (same version as my system) and it detects and accepts the built in Win 8 product key and key of CD which is built in my Bios and it activates as valid installation and activeted - this void my warranty?
(It's the same exact Windows version and license I paid HP for except it has not added recovery partition or software of HP so I don't think he would cancel warranty... especially since installation has accepted the built in bios keys - but is this correct?)
Don't know everything if the recovery will install in legacy mode, try and see.
Install a different copy of the same version do not cancel the warranty. However sometimes HP will require you to reinstall OS original to avoid the possibility of problems or if you need warranty service. Don't forget to burn your defined recovery disk before destroying the origianl OS.
You can also find it advantageous to burn them to dvd or save to hard drive USB external your C:\SwSetup file with drivers and software provided on the original laptop. Save a lot of time to download on another computer and transfer it later.

Instructions to update the BIOS via BACK to call for the creation of a BACK with Rufus bootable USB flash drive. The flash player is likely to be a legacy MBR bootable.
Is there a risk of harm a system UEFI boot from and update the BIOS with a disk MBR-started? I have to undo, redo, or whatever it is reset after perform the update?
Hello
You should be able to update via the BACK without any problem and should not affect your BIOS settings.

If you plan to dual-boot with Windows and Linux, you know why they're BOTH need BIOS or UEFI. If you switch your machine to the BIOS and install Linux, you don't then will be able to use Windows.
Don't know what distro you intend to use, but the link to the page of Ubuntu forums on UEFI facilities has a lot of useful information: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2147295

Add the entry to the Bios boot
I'm looking to restore the boot entry uefi but having problems to find in the bios
No idea how to do this on a Thinkpad P50?
The Bios Lenovo does not allow you to add a boot entry. This is necessary if you restore a hard drive using imaging software, without it, you are unable to start the system restore.
Edit: included more details
The imaging program that I use is dd on linux. The dd command not the installer boot uefi entries.
I run currently 3 separate BONES on 3 discs (the joy of owning a P50). I managed to find a way to add entries of uefi boot in Windows. The program EasyUEFI (http://www.easyuefi.com/) works perfectly.

Problem with the BIOS boot image
Hi - I recently updated day/flashed the BIOS of my T60 (2623-KFU) through windows by using the Setup files in the support section. I noticed the image of the characteristic changing BIOS boot and creates the Logo.Mod file that I have included in my BIOS flash. However, flashing it, I noticed that the Intel Logo (top-right) and the Lenovo Logo (right & Vertical) still exists and overlapped my custom image.
Is it possible to remove these logos so that I can have a clean design beautiful original appears at startup? I tried flashing back to nothing does not.
ThinkWiki says that you have to work with them. I didn't find a way to remove them.

My computer will display the BIOS boot screen then do nothing yet, I insert the Windows installation disc and I press F11, 12 > no response, F10 > BIOS Setup. What should I do with it?
Brand: HP
Type: laptopModel No.: Pavilion zt3000512 MB DDR1 RAMThank you very much!Hi Dominic,
Are you able to get into BIOS to make changes?
If so, you can try to reset the default settings of the BIOS and check.
NOTE: Change (CMOS) BIOS/complementary metal oxide semiconductor settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.
You can also try to remove all external usb devices that can be connected to the system and start-up and see if the system boots.
