  • Bluetooth connection with the Lego Mindstorms NXT robot

    Hello
    I got a license for Bluetooth Stack for Windows by Toshiba.
    I try to connect to the Lego Mindstorms NXT robot: http://mindstorms.lego.com/en-us/default.aspx
    But it does not work.
    The connection seems to be good and NXT and PC to find them, but when I try to connect, the NXT said "the line is busy".
    Is someone can tell me if he can get through this issue?
    Toshiba and Lego have an agreement on the connection of the questions?
    Thank you.

    Hello

    Do you have Toshiba notebook or just use the Toshiba BT stack?

    How to pass through this issue? Should anyone of us spent 250 Euros to buy it and test it at home? Dear oracid it's user forum and you can get help from someone who has the same home equipment and can help you with his experience.

    Agreement between Toshiba and Lego in my opinion it is not problem. Any manufacturer who build material and want to use BT must know how it works. On the market of equipment, there are specific characteristics for each communication technology and what do we do Toshiba is to build and offer the specified material.

    In your case, you must contact the Lego support and ask for help. they, no doubt, tested own stuff with different hardware platforms, the operating systems and software BT so Lego should have enough experience with own products.

  • My LEGO is flat...

    attempt to create LEGO-dust or sort of LEGO explosion.

    The brick is made in one minute (see preview screen Center), but when I do the group a cell particle is "flat":

    Although 3D, looks like it turns only around an axis... (??)

    tried various settings - no hope.

    Someone at - it advice?

    Sorry, but the way that you set it to the top will not work.  The 3D groups used as source for the cell particles get flattened, it has always been thus.

    By example, if you have 3 circles separated on Z in a 3D group and create a transmitter out of this group, the source of the cells still gets flattened, you don't actually have a particle composed of 3 circles of offset. You get a particle of cells that are flat, but the transmitter can project them in 3D space. For text 3D, if you use the object text 3D (single layer) as the source it will provide no flattened in the transmitter.

    That said, there is an "easy way" to do this and hard a way. First of all easy:

    1. set up your "Trade marked building block" in a group and Center it in the group.

    2 animate the rotation on two of the chains of the Group (X / Y for example).  I used the behavior of rate with slightly different values.

    3 export this output as a movie, and then import it into the movement.

    4. use the film as the source of the issuer. Make sure that the random boot image is checked in the settings of the transmitter.

    -You may need to adjust the rotation speed. I used this method to create particles of blood cells in the past and it worked fine.

    Pros: Simple configuration works in most cases. Faster and better performance.

    Disadvantages: Not true 3D, you must perform a new rendering of the sources of the cell if you need to change the items.

    90% of the time that this method will be good enough.

    Here's the hard, but it has limits (I'll get to those).

    1. in a new group, create your basic "box" using text in 3D. Using the commands to set layer transformation origin (Center of the world) on XYZ, is visually very well.

    2. based on the Properties tab, move the anchor point for the box originally as well. Check the position of the top, front and one side. You can reduce the opacity to see the grid in 3D.

    3. now, create a new text layer object to be the 'peg '.

    4. use the rotation settings in the appearance tab text to get the ankle facing the correct direction, associated with the box.

    5. move the layer 'peg' in the right position related to the area using the 3D transformation controls.

    6. once in place, select the layer and again move the anchor point toward the center of the world.

    You have now two objects which will have all created transformations effectively from the same point. The shared location of anchor is essential to make it work.

    7. Select the first box and create a 3D with that issuer.

    8 copy the random start in the control of the cell value. You will need it for each post.

    9. drag the layer peg on the transmitter, which will create a new cell.

    10. glue the random seed value in the box, the cell in peg.

    Here is where I would test the basic settings.

    IMPORTANT: THE VALUES IN CELL OR CHANGES NECESSARY TO EVERY CELL AND MATCH FOR ALL THE CELLS IN THE TRANSMITTER.

    For each cell in the change in the rate of birth to something low (I used 2) so you can see what is happening.  Reading and verification of the animation. If everything is configured correctly (original anchor point points are at 0,0,0 in the values of the world, random seed for the match of cells) that you will have the pegs that stick to the boxes.  If things don't stick you probalby have problems with the anchor positions (they do not match) or values of cells.

    Once you have set up the first peg and know that it works, you can add extra pegs by using the previous steps.  Then check that the anchors are centred and correspond to cell values. for each cell in the transmitter.

    So here are the limits.

    • Easy to break delicate installation (but not too bad).
    • If you wish the transmitter to turn cells, they will turn only on a single axis (z).  You can work around that, by linking the rigging the rotation of text object layer together values and then animate these on another axis, as Y.  However, this will affect all cells in the transmitter, so things a still fairly uniform.  To work around this problem, you can duplicate the text layers, create an another particle emitter with a few shifts (birth rate, direction of rotation, speed). When played together, they will look more random.

    Again, the most important thing to get this second method works is paired things (anchor points, the layer changes, cell parameters). Knowledge of the rigging/link can help.  FWIW, this configuration can also be much more intensive treatment depending on the purpose of text how he takes and create the number of particles, your mileage may vary (this is why there is the easy way).

    Good luck!

  • Lego Mindstorms silent installation

    Hello!

    I want silent install edition teacher of Lego Mindstorms Education EV3. But I can't make it work.

    I use the command line: setup.exe having/q /acceptlicenses Yes/r: n

    ;    Default value is equivalent to not register the function in this file. The feature follows its default behavior.
    ;    To install EV3 in student mode, delete the "EV3_EDU_Mode" parameter on line 24 by removing the entire line.

    [InstallationType]
    ; uncomment one of the following lines for student vs. teacher install
    DefaultRadioButton = TeacherInstall
    DefaultRadioButton = StudentInstall

    If I add = Local to the syntaxes features, that it returns an error when you attempt to install, saying that it is an incorrect syntax.

    When I install silent with equity, Lego Mindstorm installs students edition.

    If I try to create a new credit memo with /generatespecfile setup.exe, the installation process hangs.

    So what I am doing wrong?

    Apparently this depends on the version you are trying to install, you must therefore take account of this version in the features section.  For example, I was trying to install version 1.2.1 today and it did not work until I did the following:

    LEGO_EV3_EDU_Feature.ev3.edu.100 = local
    EV3_EDU_Mode.ev3.edu.mode.100 = local

    changed to

    LEGO_EV3_EDU_Feature.ev3.edu.121 = local
    EV3_EDU_Mode.ev3.edu.mode.121 = local

    And the installation in silent mode now works correctly.

  • Could not load the Lego software using a student connection

    Hello all, I tried to get the Lego factory software shipped to work on our network (we are a school and use s RM CC3 network). I was able to get the package to work correctly for a user admin (full access to the local computer), but to us this software as a student, I get the following error. "Error loading ' fantom.dll initialization routine"A dynamic link library (DLL) has failed. " This error, as the software does, and then it breaks down before opening the main program. If someone could give me an idea what permission to give in the case or a solution on how to fix this? I have not downloaded the Toolkit or any additional software for the moment because if it is possible I prefer to get this work with the standard software.  Thank you very much in advanced, Richard

    Hello, we have solved the problem, we installed the software a differernt way and now, which seems to be working properly it could have been something wrong with the installation after all. It wasn't flaged, because it worked for an administrator.

    Cheers for your help tho.

  • LEGO Mindstorms 2.0 crashes at startup when LabView Signal Express is installed first

    When NI Circuit Design Suite education edition is first installed in a computer and the LEGO Mindstorms software second, the LEGO Mindstorms software does not work, he reported the following:

    Error: A required file is broken

    Possible solutions: reinstall the driver of LEGO Mindstorms NXT (tried but does not work)

    Error code: 1003

    Ordinal not found

    The 18 ordinal not found in the library of dynamic links NIVISV32.dll

    Error loading "fantom.dll".

    The operating system cannot run %1

    On other computers the LEGO software starts, it displays the part of the initial screen and then a small window will open saying that the Mindstorms software has made an error and that it will close. The previous report does not display.

    If LabView Signal Express is uninstalled and reinstalled the software, LEGO, the LEGO software works.

    I downloaded and installed the new and old of the NIVISV32.dll versions and is not correct the problem. I went as far as version 4.20 of the dll because it is dated in 2007 and dll files installed by the LEGO software when it works is also dated 2007, but if I install the dll without uninstalling LabView Signal Express, the continuous LEGO software does not.

    Please advice how to fix this without having to uninstall first LabView Signal Express. If the LEGO software is installed first, LabView Signal Express will use and no not to replace the old version of the dll 2007 installed by the LEGO software? Y at - it an update of the LEGO software that corrects this problem?

    I repeat: I know a solution is to uninstall LabView Signal Express, install LEGO Mindstorms and then reinstall LabView Signal Express but I have 60 computers already cloned and deployed with this problem, so I don't want to go to this long process to solve the problem. Computers use Windows 7 and the problems occur on both 32 and 64-bit versions of Windows 7.

    Any ideas?

    Book by Michael Gasperi, "LabVIEW for LEGO NXT MINDSTORSM" has examples of both.  Chapter 15, it shows how write a program on the NXT that stores data in a file so that you have a program on the host computer, waiting for the file to appear and then it downloads on the PC.  On the NXT you just use open file for writing, write the file, close the file. On the PC, you use upload queue to the block of PC to get the data. You can also use the PC to control the NXT and say it starts running, etc...

    With bluetooth, you can use send/receive messages a message from both sides.

    2. Run the VI on the host computer by using a USB to the NXT connection (this way you see all the command parameter more it offers management port)

  • Interfacing engine Lego NXT sbRIO-9636 Eval Board

    Hello

    As a newbie to sbRIO, I would build a simple Quadrature counter.

    Recently, I attended the great build your own Embedded system workshop and have a sbRIO-9636 running a updated the Quadrature counter sample project AND originally designed for the sbRIO-9631.  He works a lot using the digital encoder built into the daughter card.

    Then, I want to use a Lego Mindstorms NXT motor (PN 9842) encoder.  I will feed the outboard motor so for now I just up/down count the encoder.  Here is the wiring that I intend to use on the map of my daughter:

    Channel that has the encoder (yellow wire) will go to DI2
    Channel B (blue wire) of the encoder will go to the DI3
    Common 0V (red wire) goes to DGND
    + 5V (green wire) will go?

    So my question: is there a point on the map the sbRIO-9636 girl, I can securely connect to for + 5V power of encoder?  Moreover, these colors of son are Lego Mindstorms extension cables when they are cut and stripped.

    Any help would be appreciated!
    jimmyservo

    According to the quick reference for the sbRIO 9636: http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/375933a.pdf

    There seems to be + 5V on 49 and 50 of the J502 connector pins. This connector is available, or you use a daughter card?

    Other options would be more hackers IMO, such as the drawing of the USB connector 5V.
