Lenovo_Part partition it is original or added?

I recently noticed the partition (e) Lenovo_Part on my Y580 under Windows 7 Home Premium. Is a partition installed factory as well as the Lenovo partition (D :) or was created at a later date by another method.) If it's a partition later, which caused its creation?

Thanks in advance,

PaytonA

After this announcement , it's the OKR recovery partition. There are other bids that refers to it. Just so to get them.

    Hello

Thank you to everyone who reads this or can provide any help.

    System

    iMac (27-inch, late 2009)

    10, 1 iMac

    El Capitan 10.11.1

10 Windows via bootcamp.  Started by Windows 7 HP and updated via Windows 8 pro and pro 8.1.

    Background

About 2 weeks ago, I started having problems with my computer and couldn't make OSX to start. I don't know what I did but only Windows would start. I was also able to get into the recovery partition. I could see the os x partition from Windows. It would just not start. The Apple icon came on the screen and the progress of th bar got about 0 of the way across the screen, then the closure of the iMac.

I tried a number of solutions from different websites, but couldn't do that later.

I decided that I was going to do was return my computer and reinstall. I new I had a time Machine to the top of the OS X in the next few days, but I didn't lose my windows partition, so I bought an external hard drive and got a copy Cheap Acronis True Image included as a special offer. I installed this on the Windows partition, I backed up a complete picture of Windows and partitions of OS X I used the software to create a usb bootable Acronis recovery.

I then used my original installation disk Snow Leopard disk utility to wipe the disc in a single Partition HFS +. I installed Snow Leopard and then all the updates to get my computer back to El Capitan. Far so good and all work. I then used the migration assistant with my Time Machine backup and got all my files and settings back. At this point, OS X is fine.

To return to windows then I used disk utility to partition half my 1 TB to FAT32 with the intention to use the USB recovery to recover the Windows partition. However, I found that the USB wouldn't start. I discovered later that disable the integrity of the system from the recovery Partition then seems to leave the USB key safe but I haven't found this point by chance later when I had left the key and I rebooted after you turn off the above.

So being stuck without a way to recover my backup partition I had the brilliant idea! to use disk utility to partition a 100 GB separated from my mac partition to another partition FAT32. I then installed my original Windows 7 at this 100 GB partition. I then reinstalled my Acronis True Image software for it and then it used to retrieve the Windows image on the 500 GB partition I created originally.

The recovery process seemed to go well and once completed, I was able to view the partition in os x, but I couldn't start him. After further research I found the limit of 4 GPT partition and realized I had now managed to created 5. The EFI, recovery of OS X, OS X, Windows 7 and the recovered 500 GB Partition 100 GB.

So my next idea was that now that I had my original windows recovered, and I could see the files I thought I could use Disk Utility again to delete the 100 GB partition and resize the OS X partition as back up to 500 GB. I did it and I followed the guide here http://www.rodsbooks.com/refind/installing.html#sluggish for Windows boot problems as I thought that can help.

It did not work, but I've also read about the hybrid partition tables and how if they has problems that Windows cannot start. Then I came across this forum and noticed that there may be a solution for recover/fix the partition tables.

    Silkscreens

I took a few screenshot of orders and output I've seen recommended in this forum. I hope with that someone can point me in the right direction.

I searched using the EFI GPT option in test disc.

I've added screen prints below what you get file List with each of the mac partitions not listed above.

Thanks for looking and I hope someone can put me in the right direction. If you need any other screen impressions please let me know.

    Kind regards.

On this screen - + screen + 2015-11-26 + to + 01.08.58.png you have the Testdisk size of start/end/values reported. The values are the same that second MS Data entry on + screenshot + 2015-11-26 + to + 01.07.02.png . It is also the last entry in your MBR.

In your MBR, you have a missing boot flag. Disable SIP (Protection of the integrity of the system) and run the following commands in the Terminal in OSX and test. Please ignore message MBR i386, but not all the other messages, in the following steps.

  • second HD added Optiplex GX620 - problem

OptiPlex GX620 Windows XPPro OEM (provided drive is SATA)

Just added SATA2 Western Digital WD3200AAKS 320 gig as second data drive.

    Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD3200AAKS 320 GB 7200 RPM 16 MB Cache SATA 3.0 GB / s disk hard - OEM

I partitioned NTFS (half) and formatted.

The partitions are recognized and accesssable.

However, when I start it, I get an error message: "Drive 1 not found Serial ATA, SATA 1 press F1 to continue, F2 to run Setup util.

It is a very annoying problem at each reboot.  The drive seems to be perfectly usable. I partitioned and formatted originally with the last WD util available for this player, that's the problem and have also repartitioned and formatted with the disk management tool in Windows.

I recently acquired the machine (used, refurb) and was the original BIOS A03.  Since I am adding memory again next week, I flashed to A11, according to Dell.

Is there a difference between a SATA cable and Sata-II cable?  I bought my cable locally, buying the car was oem and was just a single disk without cables or the packaging.  There is no specification on the package, other than a "Serial ATA Cable".  I have seen cables on Newegg that mention cable "SATA-II".  Maybe that's my problem?

Tried everything so far.  All enabled in the BIOS depending on normal disc by adding the procedure. (I think)

  • Mac crashes after trying to drive from the Boot Camp partition

    News of the computer:

MacBook Pro (retina, 13 inches, early 2015)

    2.7 GHz i5

    8 GB OF DDR3 MEMORY

    Iris 6100 graphics

    120 storage SSD PCI

    OS X El Capitan v. 10.11.5 (15F34)

    Hi all

Let me start of by saying I am new to Apple computers and I mainly used Windows or Linux operating systems.  Let me describe the problem.

One of my friends asked me to install Windows on their mac, after running Boot Camp by selecting my ISO, and allocation of 32 gigabytes for the Windows partition, it started downloading the required software.  After completing download he began to partition the hard drive, about 15 to 30 seconds in partitioning computer crashed.  When I turned the computer on the partition was gone and the usable space was smaller.  After looking around on the forms, I found a solution using the command:

    diskutil repairDisk disk0

It restored the main partition to its original size.  I've not run Boot Camp once again because I'm afraid it will crash everything simply.  I found the error report and I'll it paste it here:

  • delete the partition after a failed installation of windows 10

    Hello world

How is it possible to delete partitions, if in disk utility, there is no possibility to click on the '-' key?

So I made a failure (several) attempts to install windows 10 on my new iMAC.

I could download an ISO of windows and start the bootcamp assistant.

In the last attempt of last night, I selected the bootcamp in windows installation partition, however, installing windows said it was impossible to read the hard drive.

I then re-formatted this partition (BOOTCAMP) in the installation of windows, and after that, still could not read.

Then, I deleted the bootcamp partition in windows and re-created a partition on "unallocated space" in the windows installation.

Installing windows 10 still wouldn't move forward then I've bailed out and went back to OS X with the hope of turning it back on (again) by deleting partitions.

I was unable to delete the Mac partition.

Then, I deleted this partition (the one original bootcamp) and reformatted as OS x journaled. At least now, I can see the Partition.

However in Diskutil, I was then impossible to delete this Partition. There is also a small partition 16 MB that cannot be erased.

Wizard bootcamp will be past a pop up station: the startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored to a single partition.

So I will now try to delete these partitions (the boy and the training camp original one) merge into the original and give then installing bootcamp, another go when I have a lot of energy!

any help would be appreciated. I'm a little cautious to use Terminal command lines for fear of ruining my new computer.

    concerning

    Evan

    1. your iMac has a Fusion drive?

    2. don't mix to disk utility and Wizard of BC. They can lead to a host of issues.

    3. If you do not typos in the Terminal, they provide much more rich in detail. You have a Time Machine backup, put in place?

4 can you post the output of the following Terminal commands?

    diskutil list

    Cs diskutil list

    sudo TPG - vv - r see the/dev/disk0

    sudo fdisk/dev/disk0

The "sudo" commands will prompt to enter your password, and there do not appear to come back. You can also see caution against improper use 'sudo' and the potential loss of data due to an "abuse" of the order.

  • make the partition of SL disk image and restore to another hard drive

Hi, I have partitioned my hard drive, a mountain lion other snow leopard partition. My goal is to put now the partition with snow leo on it's own hard drive and delete a partition on the original hard drive. Could someone point me in the right direction to start this?

    Thank you

    Randall

The Finder, choose utilities go to menu, open disk utility, use the restore function to move the volume of Snow Leopard and check that it works.

When you're done, select all of the disk and click the Partition tab. If the partition of Mountain Lion is the first in the list, delete the one snow leopard, drag the slider under the Mountain Lion partition as far down as it will go and click on apply. If it's the second, restore the system of Cougar in the first volume, restart it and proceed as above.

  • Re: Satellite L40 PSL48E: can I create a partition Vista installation disc

    Hello

My Satellite L40 PSL48E came with a Vista recovery partition.
As I despise Vista I bought a replacement drive and installed a new hard drive and installed XP pro.
I retained the original drive in case I've never had a claim under warranty.

Now, I find that, because of work, commitments, I occsionally use the despised Vista trash and wonder if it is possible to create a partition on the original disc installation disc so tha ti can create a system dual boot on my new drive.

I am very reluctant to BUY a new Vista CD, since I already have a perfectly legal copy on a disk, which I am not using and I'll use it only rarely for this commitment to work.

    Any information received with gratitude

    Thank you Ron

Hmm. If you have a HARD drive recovery option, then a complete image has been placed on the HARD drive and generally all cell phones with HARD drive recovery option is supported by a tool called TOSHIBA Recovery Disc Creator Toshiba.

With this tool, you can create a Vista recovery DVD If the OS Vista, have been damaged, you can also try to start the computer by pressing the F8 key.
This would allow an advanced boot menu.
Here you must choose repair computer

But note; This option is available only on laptops with HDD Recovery

    See you soon

  • How to live resize partitions 2 existing partitioned drive?

I have a 1.5 to - 2 partitioned drive I need to change the size of the partition 2. I need to make a smaller partition 1 and 2 large partition.

I have place to decrease the partition 1, so that I can increase the partition 2.

First of all, I reduce the size of partition 1, but am I that reason... until what I click on "Apply" in the bottom right of the disk utility window, that computer still considers that this hard drive is partitioned with the sizes of origin? And so if I simply decrease the size of the score graphically in the interface, then click on partition 2, I see the text: this partition cannot be resized.

So if I am wrong in this assumption, I must decrease partition 1 and apply. Then I can select partition 2 and increase it with the newly created space in partition 1?

If she is correct, when I click on apply in the first stage, the newly created space turn into another partition the partition between 1 and 2? And the next step would be to combine this small new partition in the original partition 2? Here are a few screenshots to better explain.

NOTE: Yes, I know that I need these 2 partitions to backup before applying resizing.

If I can reduce the size of partition 1, whose interface seems to help, I guess that with the good implementation, I should be able to expand the partition 2.

I use Lion 10.7.5 on a Mac Pro.

    Thank you

    Steven

If I can reduce the size of partition 1, whose interface seems to help, I guess that with the good implementation, I should be able to expand the partition 2.

No, it doesn't work like that.

You can reduce the size of partition 1, but you will not be able to reclaim that space for the 2nd partition. You need to remove the 2nd partition, and then add it back.

But beware, your free space currently for your 10.6.8 partition is marginal, in order to reduce the size of this partition does not seem a good idea. You may no longer be able to start from such a unit.

One of the disadvantages of partitioning is that you can not redistribute their sizes without redoing the readers.

Overall, you have not enough free space on this drive.

  • Disk utility OSX not letting u/c partition names

I recently changed the HARD drive on my Macbook Pro to a crucial SSD 1 TB.  At the time I thought that the HARD drive was faulty so used the Mac online recovery to reinstall the original OSX (Mountain Lion).  When I appointed the SSD partition it only let me use the upper case for the name of the partition.   I had already improved Cougar to the Mavericks so there were a few problems with some on application data, so I decided to do a new install directly from Time Machine.  This good all looked and noticed that Time Machine renamed partition SSD the original name of the disk partition HARD and that this name was a mixture of upper case and lower case letters.

After that, I decided it would be useful to have a second external USB backup drive, but for the second disc I tried to partition the drive into three partitions all formatted in Mac OS X extended (journaled).  More utility disk once only would allow me to only use capitals in partition names.

Since OSX is happily using the partition with uppercase letters and lowercase names I'm puzzled what disk utility is forcing me to use uppercase letters.  The only thing I can think is that SSD and USB disk could have been previously formatted with FAT32 and it was inhibiting the disk utility.  Does anyone have ideas better?

Here's the new disks that are not configured for Macs. Follow these steps:

    Drive partition and format

    1. open utility disk from the Applications\utilitaires folder.

    2. after disk utility charges select the new SSD entry (this is the entrance Out-bumpy with of the mfgr.) ID and size) in the list on the left. Click the Partition tab in the main window of disk utility.

    3. in the title of the Volume entitled plan set the number of partitions in the menu drop-down one. Click the Options button, set the GUID partition scheme, and then click the OK button. Set the type of Mac OS extended (journaled) format. Click on the apply button and wait until the process is complete.

    Repeat for the USB drive.

  • Windows 8 is installed on the wrong partition

I just opened my Ideapad u430 and immediately noticed that the windows that OS has been installed on the 500 GB sata drive instead of the SSD. I am sure that the whole point of the SSD part has been to install the OS on it to speed up performance. Tips on how to transfer the OS on the other side of the partition without the original disks?

Well, no, in my humble OPINION, but you may be able to make it work for your particular needs.

Size - 24GO - confirms that it is a caching of the road, and the operating system has not been installed on the wrong partition.

    Z.

  • SSD as a GPT partition in that order? MSR, small recovery, EFI, OS, recovery?

    128 MB MSR

    Recovery of 650

    EFI 260 MB

    32 GB system

Data partition - the rest of the disc except 17,73 GB.

Recovery of 17,73 GB (for my special recovery partition)

Question 1: what is exact or close enough?

I read somewhere that the MSR must be the first GPT partition.

I have a problem creating a shift of 1 024 Ko for a 128 MB MSR partition at the original address.

It allows you only to 17KO.  To get the full offset of 1024KO, I do the MSR 127 MB.

But then I can't EXTEND the MSR up to 128 MB without creating a volume, which

is not allowed on a GPT disk.  If a 128 MB MSR is supposed to be the first partition,

There must be something to create in order to get the full 1024KO offset to allow a trim.

Question 2: How can I configure a 128 MB SC with a shift of 1 024 Ko? Or is-127 MB OK?

No worries.  Backup/restore Acronis s/w has taken care of her.

  • How to RESTORE my recovery partition?

Hey, I have a hp pavilion dv 6 notbook and by mistake I delelted the volume of D: drive which it has the orginal recovery 'factory settings', and I don't have any what previous piont to restore!

So I want the partition with the original settings, I can find it anywhere? or I can install it on the internet?

    Please can someone help me?

The only thing in your case we can do is use the usb recovery media or defined recovery disc you must have created now to run a factory image recovery. Who will restore the recovery partition on the hard drive of your laptop.

If you have not created a recovery disk series or recovery usb support, then you can buy a set of HP recovery discs or one of the many HP Partners.  If you live in Europe and then use this link to order a HP recovery disk

  • I want to clone my original equipment existing 500 GB HARD drive to a new 1 TB HARD drive replacement. How?

    G ' Day,.

I'm getting too big for my old 500 GB HARD drive, so I bought a new 1 TB HARD drive.

Now I have all of the rescue disks that I made when I first got my laptop Compaq Presario CQ57-105TU . I could use them & fresh install all software & original OS, but then I have to start from scratch and re-install all the software I have installed, in addition to redo all adjustments & changes I made to the Windows 7 operating system since the first day - a year ago.

Not really how I want to spend the next week or two around.

I would like to clone the orig 500 GB HDD & all of its content to a new 1 TB of HARD drive.

Sounds like where I want to go, but for 1 small question. I heard that if I just I'll have about 500 GB of space available new but I was also told that I will not be able to create new partitions of disk on the new HARD drive because of any existing partitions on the original HARD disk are created.

    1. is this true?

    2. in the case, where can I find a failsafe procedure to accomplish the clone, & then create 2 new partitions to cover the free space on the new drive.

    3. If so, is there a work around? If there is what is the procedure (plse give me cramps of brain with the jargon of techno... tnx)

Some additional information that might be important.

At the present time, my HARD drive has this configuration:

Now that (Q) Local drive is diferent.  It shows 0 bytes available & 0 bytes used, & I don't have access to it.

Computer of my wife... another laptop CQ62 model... also has the same drive,

but hers is labeled as Microsoft Office 2010 Starter... as 0 bytes available & used - also no access, & as below, not showing is not in Dmgt.

This drive does not appear in my Configuration of MANAGEMENT OF RECORDS : http://i.imgur.com/r4LPrDa.jpg

Thanks for your time & consideration... Bobby

    OK...'s done it!

I used my CLONING HDD DOCKING STATION friends exactly like this, but he bought from a different seller 2 years ago.

All I did was take my 500 GB drive original & placed in A slot (the front slot - Master) & I placed the new Toshiba 1 TB disk in slot B (the second slot behind Slot A... Middle - Slave). I turned the power on the box. I waited until readers spun & were ready, & I don't have a press the red button on the box...

25% light started to blink & cloning began...

About 40 minutes later 50% light began to Flash & the 25% brightness has remained stable.

This means that 25%of the process has been done, & he went to 50%. .

This sequence was continued until finally all the lights were on fixed (25% to 100%) which means that the clone was complete.

I think it took about 2 hours and 15 minutes to clone completely.

I closed the box power off. Then, I removed the two discs.

I installed the new drive in the laptop carefully, & reinserted the battery, & I plugged power/charger/adapter sector of the laptop.

Then, I ran into my fingers & press work / laptop computer shutdown.

A few seconds my laptop has been as always to initialize.  I just had to check to make sure that I have installed the new drive... & Yes the one on the desk was the original, no doubt which means that my laptop startup disk was indeed the new drive I cloned just to.

My laptop is started without fault!  without a hitch. Just as he always had.

I used my computer management Administrative tool - disk management & made a simple volume for the 450 + GB of free space, affecting the next letter available player - in my car (F) case & I named it so.

Everything worked perfectly, I can read & write on the new partition/volume. As I mentioned previously, I probably won't be able to start from scratch, but my drive (C), but it's fine for me.

    So, what have I learned?

Well, first of all, my Compaq Presario CQ57-105TU can go to 1 TB of HARD drive without modification.

Using the cloning method, I did no doubt saved full at least 1 weeks of resettlement work if I selected the new installation method using backup/rescue disks when the computer was first, I created started way back when.

Outside the 2 + hours time, it took to clone the drive, 15 +/-minutes initially to remove & reinstall the drive, & the time it took to assign the new free space a drive letter (every 5-10 minutes) the procedure was clearly simple cut, I know could have been done differently, but not as simply as the method I chose.

Pepe, thank you much for the time you spent researching my issues & responding to my message.

I'm so glad all your fears & roadblocks have been made not, & in the end, it was possible to accomplish the task against our initial concerns - count in a very loose way with the greatest ease.

Here are some pictures of the Station of Clone (the box) exactly like the one I used:

    Congratulations to all,

    Bobby, alias DreamRyderX

  • What are these partitions?

I don't know exactly what all the partitions listed in the Disk Manager are for. Almost I would bet the farm that I didn't have as many partitions when I originally bought my laptop.

The laptop came with Win8 and I upgraded to 8.1 as it took place.

A few months ago, I did a factory restore as well.

It is also possible that I can have installed Dell backup and restore more than once, I wonder if this has something to do with it. It seems just something is wrong and that I wouldn't have that a large number of partitions, I certainly don't remember there being that a lot when I got it.

In particular, I wonder about the 6 recovery partitions, 5 which are small and in disk management seems to be empty. If I think the 6th, great recovery partition has in fact data recovery; because at some point, I used a third-party tool that indicated that he was not 100% free as space shows disk manager.

There is also a score of 490 mb which is unallocated, really confused by that, I don't know who did not originally exist.

I did some reading here and elsewhere in this issue, but I am still confused as to why I have 10 scores, what they are and what is necessary.

If anyone can give me an idea on this I would really appreciate it.

DVDs are rejected by the new security such as UEFI and SecureBoot technologies. That is why my guides emphasize a FAT32 Flash DRIVE formatted with Rufus.

A dual boot is also a bit more difficult with UEFI and SecureBoot and in my opinion not worth. Modern hardware is more than capable to run Windows as long as the host and Linux computer in one machine virtual. I often use VMware Player to do this:
