Lenovo update shows Splash then crashes
I had this problem for a few days now that when I try to use the system update it shows just the splash screen, but then unexpectedly closes without showing the normal Update Wizard.
As I see it there are 2 options:
Is it possible to fix this?
How can I reinstall the update utility - I can't find the installer for it.
Sorry to hear about your problem of system update. All the ThinkVantage software, including the update of the system, can be downloaded from the website of Lenovo. Try to reinstall maybe that will fix it.

I've updated my bios with lenovo update... then it could not start
I have a 3000 n200 0769 b5g... I just updated the bios, then he could not start... What is the solution... is this a format? then I tried to format my pc but I didn't coz he has a 8 GB freespace only when I use my bootable drive... it must have 140 GB... where can I get a good start and I can burn it to a cd...
Failed to start o? You mean it restarts when it comes to where windows should start up (you get a blue screen), if this is the case, go into the BIOS, and then search for the HARD drive mode (AHCI I think), if the mode is on, turn it off, it should work fine after that.
If it's a different kind of problem starting, I don't know...

Sony Vaio - update software and then crash
Good so I have found computer laptop Sony Vaio VGN-SZ740 in the trash, the other day and was delighted to find that it works perfectly, in addition to a dead battery. I take it to the library and start deleting all files from previous owners and browsed the web for about 3 hours. I decided to update the software, because a message box just kept popping up. He told me that I have to restart my computer for all changes must be made so I did and he entered the system download screen and it is 3 cycles to download everything that. He raised the download phase 2 up to 50% when he over took me to black screen and says one of the files is not good and I need to use the drive of discovery in order to get back to. Problem is since I found it in the trash, that it did not come with manual or disc and it's a big apartment to find the owner will be difficult. What can I do and how to get back to my computer. If someone would be kind enough to provide a recovery disk, I would be very happy. Thank you.
Hi ITSMEDREE,
You can perform the recovery without a recovery system disk. Please follow this troubleshooting guide https://us.en.kb.sony.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/36806/c/65%2C66/kw/outside%20windows/session/L3Rpb... . If this does not work it means that you can buy a recovery disk.
Thank you
Sean

I just bought new computer hp dv6 2120 and responsible games, I had already played on hp pavliion 9700 with windows vista. new system is windows 7. a game that is Cossacks 11 will not play all States must \I hepatitis e windows vista has and the other game which is the company of Heroes tales of Valor will play but then crashes and creates the error report. will play 2 to 35 minutes before the accident appears completely random.
help, I'm getting frustratee
I have to agree, update the video drivers is probly the answer, however do it from the manufacturer's website and not windows. Uninstall and remove drivers, then restart and manufacturers to download to your verision of windows 7 (x 86 or x 64)
PS. you don't have to worry about uninstalling and removing the drivers, when you restart it will be a most vile driver that windows will use so that you can see the video, even if it will proly be huge and Boret and maybe not in all the colors you are used to seeing, this will set after you have installed the appropriate drivers.

Vista - windows update broken (and then some)
Hi everyone, maybe you could help me with this...
My system is a laptop running vista home basic service pack 2.
The laptop is also on a wireless network without proxy.
all moving parts are functional, I would say... (ram hd etc..)It seems that this update of windows is quite unable. Common symptoms are
-When you try to search updates notice occurs that the service is stopped.
-A separate statement occurs informing that a host process has stopped working. The most recent update I see is 11/09.
A quick glance around my services leads me to believe that BITS is the problem, because I can't seem to start the service without stopping quickly. It also reproduces the host process error notice.
Event Viewer shows a consistent error listed as follows...Failing application svchost.exe_BITS, version 6.0.6001.18000, time stamp 0x47918b89, failed module qmgr.dll, version 7.0.6002.18005, time stamp 0x49e037de, exception 0xc000001d, offset 0x000587e7, process 0x2d8 id error code, start the application time 0x01ca8c8b35264f9f.
The error also occurs with windows defender.
I tried the fix for BITS of http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/940520 including the manual fix suggests the page.
I also tried several methods which included manually stopping and restarting the windows update service and other services that I considered relevant.
System restore failed me on all accounts, Startup Repair can not find anything.
This error is also reproduced in safemode, but also a clean boot.An interesting thing that I met just used the fixit found here
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/971058
I ran it automatically with the aggressive function checked.
After the reboot, I found that windows update worked but then the two BITS and windows update services stopped.
There is also a message in the editing window:Code 800706BA (unknown error)
I did a considerable amount of research on the internet, including the knowledge base and I can't seem to find a solution for this. So I turn here. After watching a few discussions, it seems that people here are knowledgeable and helpful.
In all sincerity at all any help is GREATLY appreciated.
Thank you for your time.Hello
