Lenses & lens adapters

I think it would be a good idea to publish information about what lens and lens adapters we use including images,.

There are so many combinations available, it would be very helpful to new people in the industry like me to have available what works well, what cards are better then others and possibly even links to some images taken with the lens and adapter of choice.

Thanks for reading.

If Nikon lenses (AI, AI - s or G) are on your list, then the more powerful, built #1 adapter etc. is Optitek Pro-Lock. Yes, it is the most expensive, but worth every penny. It has been a lot of discussion about his here and on DVXUSER if you want to learn more. FYI-I got the Nikon MTF adapter for 6 months and when it does work it pales in comparison to the Pro-Lock.

  • Loss of Leica lens profiles.

I'm shooting with a Leica M9 and a Leica M7. If I take my digital files M9 in LR I can select a profile of appropriate a whole list of Leica lenses lens. • EOS 7 d Mark II vs 70 D

    Hi all

I am an amateur (Techno IT by profession) and would like to know which one should I go for - EOS 7 d Mark II or 70 d? I have EOS 600 d for the last three years and lenses - lens 135mm kit, Canon macro 100mm, Tokina Wide angle and 400mm Tamron AF. However, I got my 600 d repaired twice in the last 1-2 years (Board of Directors has changed twice due to a technical problem - Canon Service does not gives me the details). I've spent some money on repair services so upgrade to a better.

I usually shoot landscapes, macro, photography, Portraits (just started) and astrophotography. I would like to grow my photography skills additional for exhibitions and online sales beginning especially with photography of birds and wildlife. I'm fine with the budget for the two DSLRs. I put doubts still to go for 70 d and invest the remainder in 600mm Tamron.

Please suggest that it fits my needs.

    Kind regards

    Sameer

In my humble OPINION, both cameras are not comparable.  If the 7 d Mk II is in the budget, go for it.  It is not even a choice.

There are no 600mm Tamron?  Do you mean the 150-600mm zoom?  Tamrom makes the lenses very little choice but the 150-600mm F/5-6. 3 Di VC USD has a $70 discount until the end of the month.  It's a remarkable lens for the money.

  • Why Canon does not have old adapters for my SLR camera lenses? I can get them with Sony, but not for Canon

I have an old Canon Ftb with a goal of 1.4 fd. I'm getting into digital cameras now (just to have a 12 G for now, mainly used for underwater photography). I would like to stay with Canon, but I'm very annoyed that Canon doesn't have a way to continue to use their old lenses. Nikon, for all their flaws are much better at you can continue to use your old stuff.

Then I find that if I'm going to Sony (Yes, really, Sony) can I use my lenses from Canon ol via an adapter. This my Canon, tell me it ain't so. You must have a way, I just have not yet discovered.

There are many challenges with this and the "adapters" are to be considered with a certain scepticism.

The FD lenses are mechanical - no electronics.  The case of the unit, on the other hand, has an electronic interface for the lens - nothing of mechanics.   This means that if you set the goal, you would have to manually set the aperture but also of manual focus of the lens.

Your Canon DSLR had a split Prism focusing in the viewfinder to help.  A new camera does not work.  The reason why there is no help from the development is because most of the lenses are autofocus so it is simply not necessary.  This makes it particularly difficult to tell when you've worn exactly the goal.  Making it even more difficult is that any device with a sensor size of APS - C (most of them) have a small viewfinder that you had on your Canon SLR photography.

In addition, the lenses are optimized for a specific back focus distance.  Canon's EOS cameras have a depth of 44 m from the mounting flange of lens at the front of the body at the level of development within the body.  When you use an adapter, it modifies that distance.  If you change too much, the lens behaves as if it is mounted with extension tubes, the entire range of focus is moved closer to the camera, and it can be is no longer able to focus to infinity.

There are 3 parties that make these lenses... conversion kits but they do them for a few drinks (not all) and that they require a bit of surgery on the goal (e.g. this level which protrudes beyond the rear of the lens used to set the aperture value should go).

But... the modern lenses are just so much better than the old FD lenses.   Requires really quite the dozen FD lens to make it interesting this fuss.  Also, I own a Canon SLR (AE-1) and a few glasses of FD... but have no interest in trying to use one of these lenses on my EOS DSLR cameras.

I think that this question almost as Ford asking why they do not wheel adapters let wheels it T model mount on a Mustang of 2015.  The new wheels are so much better than the old wheels, you want to continue to use the old wheels.

Leave your old lenses in the past.  Mine are on the shelf alongside my AE-1... body as a conversation piece.  I don't actually use them.

  • Problem with the latest adapters of goal for the F5 for B4 lenses - the B4S16PL and the LAFZP12PL.

I just got the latest adapters of goal for the F5 for B4 lenses - the B4S16PL and the LAFZP12PL. I have them sitting correctly, but they will not allow my lenses backfocus. What is the problem here?

Do you mean that you cannot physically use the backfocus on lenses, or you can not get the correct backfocus?

The correct backfocus with these cards, if they like the others I used it, will be very different from that of the correct backfocus on a camera usually 2/3 "

  • Problems with (films) coating of the lens on the surface of the canon lenses.

I read many comments here about how to clean the surfaces of the lens... I wonder if canon films that they promote as do wonderful things for development are not so great for cleaning? I bought an expensive lens not for long and cleaned with either lens clothing tending my opthomologist after my appointment to look for my glasses... I collect these sweet little squares, whenever I have an appointment to the eye because they are made for the purpose of cleaning of lenses... Houston is a very humid climate and after doing some night shots the lens seems sticky and so I polished with the soft cloth... I have not added any sort of cleaning liquid... but I noticed when I had finished there was a blue smear on the entire surface of the lens... Really? I have not used any more pressure than the kind of pressure that you can use to clean your glasses.  This bluish smears can be removed or is permanent damage to a dear surfface...? Now I must say that I didn't notice that this smear has affectd of my photos... I found one in post processing which presents a particular lighting problem which could be linked to the surface of the lens... Other people have had problems with the 'coatings', which are added to the surface of the lens? I would like to add at least two lens more... but I'm afraid to invest again if I rish damage the surface of the lens even Polish with a soft cloth?

Well, I think because I became so addicted to photography... I can't stand that a week shoud go I'm not shooting and post processing... then the most important investment I did in a lens so far is 800 dollars... so as you say the investment of 50 million dollars for the protective lens cover is my best insurance...

What kind of dirty? Hit by a splash of muddy water and you hunt elephants? Or a more down to Earth 'footprints on my front element' dirty? So late, you can use a little liquid and a wipe of lens for lens cleaning tissue. Blow gently in the dirt with a blower of squeeze and lightly sweep any 'chunks' tenacious with a fine brush for lenses, usually sold as a combination tool. Repeat as needed until you are lint or grease issues, then use the liquid and dry.

  • Profiles of lenses of Photoshop CS6 No. (lens correction filter) for Canon 6 d raw files

LightRoom and Camera Raw have Lens Correction profiles and all lenses available today are in the list for the Canon 6 d of the raw files. BUT the Correction of filter/optics if Photoshop CS6 only have 2 Tamron lenses listed. Weird that there are a of the profiles of lenses for the Canon 6 d raw files in Lightroom and Camera RAW, but not CS6 filter/Lens Correction.

Camera RAW, LR and PS are up-to-date... NOTE: I have a Canon G11, 7 d and 1 d Mark II N and all their files work as expected. It's only the RAW files created by Canon 6 d.

    All of the suggestions.

  • Possible to specify no lens correction for some lenses

Hello.  It is possible to specify no lens correction for some lenses (such as fisheye) while using 'default' or 'auto' for the correction of the goal?  If there is no built-in feature to support this, it would be possible to change manually the profiles included for the specific lens to achieve the same effect?  In addition, the profiles included location?  Thank you.

You can set the "default settings" for each objective separately.

    Lightroom 4

1 Select an image taken with the lens, 2) go to "correction lenses and sele ctthe tab ' profile»(, 3) set"Distotion"both vignetting" to "0" and 4) click on the arrows next to "Setup" and select "Save new lens profile by default."

    Lightroom 3

Same as above, but also the value "Aberration C." '0' If you want.

For most of my lenses I 0 ' distortion' and 'Vignetting' 50 and change it only on images that seem to need it. That's just my preference, yours may differ. For my Canon 8-15mm I sometimes use distortion "control if I'm changing the 'fisheye look'. I generally use PS Adaptive Filter of wide angle and Fisheye-Hemi plugin for this purpose.

  • 4.1 Lightroom does not recognize my Nikon camera and lenses under "Lens Corrections" supported?

Sub develop Module - lens Corrections, activate the profile Corrections, Lightroom 4.1 don't auto recognize my Nikon D5000 camera and lenses even if they ARE supported.  When I manually choose Nikon in this widow, I can't get 8 of the multitude of supported lenses Nikon to display in the menu dropdown.  Of these 8 lenses, none does not match any of my lenses.  How can I fix it?  I wish I could click the checkbox 'Activate profile Corrections' and have it auto recognize my camera and lens.

    Here is my story:

    I shoot in RAW

It is a new installation of Lightroom 4.1 on a new computer with all updates installed.

    I am running Win 7 64 bit

I've used Lightroom 3 on another computer and it worked fine with Lightroom 3

I'm a real ESTATE agent who uses Lightroom to change my photos, not a pro.  So, please give answers that may include a non-Pro.  I really hope that there is a simple answer to my problem.

I find the help file first and couldn't find an answer.

Thanks in advance for the help!

I'm sorry I have to ask this question, but you're SURE these images are raw images?  Aim profiles are specific to the file format

  • I see my profile file of Sigma lenses in the Lr5.7.1 folder - but I can't select it in the drop of Lens Correction

    Hello

I see my exact Sigma lens profile in my Lr 5.7.1 record (SIGMA 150-600 mm F5-6. 3 DG OS HSM C015)-RAW.lcp)- but it's as an option in the dropdown of my Module development lens Corrections unselectable.

    I see it in C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\LensProfiles\1.0\Sigma\Canon

Sigma Sport version is just next to it in the folder - and it's the only one I can see and select, its name is the same direction except the last part of names p014

How can I make MY selectable lens in the drop-down list?

    Thank you

OK - I thought about it!

I stuck the lens profile to:

    C:\Users\XXXX\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\LensProfiles\1.0

no other profiles were in it - but after pasting the profile here - he appeared in Lr... YAYY

  • What kind of lenses (both Canon and after walking) fits my Canon Rebel T1i?

I used my kit lens to my RebelT1i and it works fine, but now I'm ready to start investing in new lenses, but with all the different types available, I'm not sure how know what suits. EF, EOS, etc, if I choose to invest in 'other than canon' lenses is there a way to know how to choose one that suits you my rebel? I am even more confused when it comes to buy filters. I know that he should ' t matter with filters if it is EOS, the EF or what ever, but if I wanted to buy a f or polorized stop or a UV filter, for example, should I buy a new one for each lens? are there adapters for them to adapt? And just so interested in opinion, do you prefer lenses macro, or tubes macr and why?
    Thank you!
    Danny

Your camera EOS, which has an APS - C size sensor, is compatible with all EF or EF-S mount. Goals EF - S are not compatible with the 5 d, 6 d, 1 d and 1Ds series cameras as well as 10 days and older.

Here is a list of the names of the factory lens that are compatible with your body EOS (only for APS - C in bold).

    Canon - EF-S and EF

Sigma - DC and DG lenses.

    Tamron Di-II and Di

    Tokina - Dx, Dx-IIand FX

  • AE1 Canon lenses

I have old Canon AE1 lenses. Do you sell the bodysuits that match my lenses and if not there are adapters that can be used?

This a community of owners of Canon - so may not necessarily be the answer to your question by someone from Canon.

Your AE - 1 used Canon FD series lenses.  These have been made exclusively for 35mm cameras and lenses are entirely mechanical.  The opening is controlled by the mechanical lever that interacts with the body and the focus is manual.

Canon switched to the EOS system that is electronic.  Most of EOS cameras have autofocus motors in order (there are some exceptions) and the interface between the camera and the body is now electronic, not mechanical.

Canon brings more cameras that use FD lenses (as Canon does more than film cameras.)

Although it is "technically" possible to get a (part 3) adapter to allow you to use a FD lens with EOS enclosure, it is not advisable. New lenses are much better than the old glass, the camera cannot control the aperture on a lens of FD series boxes include more development AIDS in the viewfinder (for example, the split-Prism focus) being almost all autofocus goals (you can get dull 3rd party that offer some AIDS focus).

The General recommendation is that you probably don't want use your old glass with a new camera.

I also still have my AE-1 and some FD lenses... but he is for the most part now on the Board to provide certain nostalgia of a different age of photography and as a conversation piece.
