Level of interaction required by Windows update

I would like if Windows can install updates without worrying about me. If I set automatic updates, then I get botherd by the restart (that can be harmful if the work is left not recorded), all to avoid these by requiring a notification before updates, then I'm botheed by these notifications instead. I know that Linux can install most updates without having to restart. Is it not possible to use the same strategies to Windows Update? Even if it is not possible for some reason, he should at least have an option to install all updates and just shut up on the reboot until I happen to do. I prefer widely expect everything that Linux is doing well.

Hello

Welcome to Microsoft Vista Forum community!

In Windows after you have installed the updates, drivers or software, windows must restart for the changes to take effect and windows are designed like that, so we will not be able to disable the auto reboot.

However when you work on the computer, you can try to disable the automatic updates and enable it at the time, so he will do automatic updates and restart itself.

Hope this information is useful.
Let me know if it worked.

    Hi Sean Rodrigues,.

This problem occurs if a service that is required for Windows Update or Microsoft Update is not registered.

To resolve this issue, follow the steps described in the methods below in the order listed, starting with method 1.

Method 1: make sure that the necessary services are available and running

Make sure that the Bits Service, the Automatic Update Service and the Workstation Service are installed and running. To do this follow the steps below for your operating system.

To ensure that the necessary services are available and running, follow these steps:

    1. click on Start, type services.msc in the search text box, and then click services.msc in the list programs. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click continue.

    2. double-click on Background Intelligent Transfer Service.

    3. If the start State lists Stopped, click Start , and then click OK.

    4. double-click on Windows Update.

    5. If the Startup State lists Stopped, click Start , and then click OK.

    6. double-click on my computer.

    7. If the start State lists Stopped, click Start, and then click OK.

    8. close the Services window and try to install the updates again.

Note: If the Background Intelligent Transfer Service does not appear in the list of Services, click the following link to view the article on the Microsoft web site and download the update:

To determine which service pack is currently installed on your computer, follow these steps:

    1. Click Startand then click run.

A dialog box displays the version of Windows and the service pack that is currently installed on your computer.
