  • Microsoft Lifecam Cinema works well with windows live messenger.

I just bought a Microsoft Lifecam Cinema, connected with my PC and installed the software 3.6. What I noticed that the quality fo the vedio going well under the lifecam software or to preview audio/vedio setting of the windows live messenger. However, the vedio quality is pretty poor, when I compose a vedio with other people using windows live messenger.

I don't know if this is related to the operating systems or not. My operating system is XP Professional, the other part is windows 7. the version of my windows live messenger is current.

    Any advice?

    Hi IanZ11,

The LifeCam software requires a card video and monitor that can run a resolution of at least 800 x 600 high color. Set the resolution of Windows display on 800 x 600 high color and then test the software.

Try the steps listed in the article below and check if that helps you.

  • Webcam LifeCam Cinema is not in the LifeCam software, but works (in low def) with other programs.

Just installed my LifeCam Cinema in the correct order (CD of the software first, then plug the webcam into a USB socket). The usual pop-ups in the status bar is displayed (new hardware found, the webcam is properly identified, "ready to use" and shows in Device Manager) and the installation tells me the installation of the drivers and software is made. Installation normally ends when I click done at the end, but never start step 3 (the camera configuration).

The camera works (not in HD) in Windows Explorer, the last Live Messenger and Skype, but NOT in the LifeCam 3.0 program. "There is no camera connected to this computer," he says, and the only option I have is to click on the help icon. There is no other error message.

I have tried to uninstall, reinstall with the LifeCam 3.0 package downloaded, restart, all the try again all other USB 2.0 ports, disconnect all other USB devices, but the LifeCam software will not find my camera. That way I don't get access to the advanced settings like the resolution and these stupid effects, I was eager to try :) :(

I have .NET installed 3.5, but only Live Messenger than essentials package. Do I need anything else to make LifeCam 3.0 find my camera?

In your case geojayhawk, I would be re - install the drivers for the LifeCam. For some reason, he must have a difficult time reading the driver INF file.

  • The LifeCam Cinema settings reset after a reboot of the system

I want to disable the auto focus and auto exposure, but when I turn it off, they turn their backs on the next reboot of the computer. It's a nuisance to turn them off whenever I turn on the computer. You know a way to disable them permanently, or implementing a feature to do this in the next update?

It is another question, perhaps in connection with prior approval. When I use the lifecam cinema with another device, it makes serious glitches on the image of the camera. The seeds of becomes more serious when I put my face on it, but not other objects. I think it's the face detection feature, lifecam cinema, it attempts to use the feature on the camera too. If you think I'm right, how can I turn off auto face detection function? By selecting 'no effect' on the 'Effects' tab is a not to disable :(

  • LifeCam cinema problems and suggestions...

    Hello
I just bought the new Lifecam cinema and it's an amazing webcam.
    However, there are 2 questions:
    (1) the cam uses a lot of CPU... I have an E8400 DC 3.0 as recommended and it's almost to the limit, using 1280 X 720, 30 FPS with Skype... The logitech Webcam pro 9000 uses "only 60 to 70% higher."
With HPEliteBook Dual Core 2.8 and HP 8510p Dual Core 2.5 laptop CPU explodes.
    (2) the software and driver are very "unstable" for the cam. In good light, it's OK, but in the darkness, he is not good, because the auto focus and auto exposure are completely off target.
I'm a betatetster NDA for Skye video...

How can I contact Microsoft directly to suggestions for the next update to the 3.0 software?

  • LifeCam Cinema HD has limited resolution in Vista

I'm running Vista/64 with all updates and SPs.  Just bought a MS LifeCam Cinema HD for use with this computer, and the only resolution I can get is 160 x 120, none others appear on the list of the menu drop down.  I have downloaded the software twice, have done everything that this issue, but on this computer that low-resolution is all I can get recommended to others.

HOWEVER, I uninstalled the software and the LifeCam then works with Skype with a much better resolution, but certainly nothing of such quality HD.  As soon as I re - download and install the LifeCam, the resolution of Skype software goes to pot.

I tried to install this WebCam on a laptop running Win7 and all resolutions are availaable on the menu drop down, I can make videos in HD and HD even works on Skype.

Is there a fix or a workaround for this?  I like the WebCam, especially autofocus, but at 160 x 120, the autofocus function is academic.

    Hi Electrojim,

-What troubleshooting steps have done up to now?

I suggest you to plug the LifeCam Cinema HD into another USB port and check if it makes a difference.

The LifeCam software requires a card video and monitor that can run a resolution of at least 800 x 600 high color. Set the resolution of Windows display on 800 x 600 high color and then test the software.

Try the steps listed in the article below and check if that helps you.

  • LifeCam Cinema - focus problem

    Hello
I just brought a lifecam cinema.  It runs on Windows 32 - bit XP, SP3, with the latest Microsoft webcam software.

My Lifecam Cinema appears to not be auto focus.  I have 3 feet of the webcam, and I blurred and imprecise.  The objects in the room are also blurred.  The only thing that is developed is if I take an object and that it hold about 3 inches from the webcam.  The focus seems to be right in front of the lens.

I tried to play with the setting of development under the microsoft Lifecam software.  I tried it with the balance of the development of setting 'auto '.  I tried to uncheck the auto and manually move the Focuser scroll bar and hit apply.  No difference in short - everything behind a few inches from the lens is blurry.

I tried different intensities.  I tried to move the scene and set the webcam in another XP box.  No improvement.

It is possible the unit I have is defective and not auto focus?

    Thank you.

Just to close the loop - Yes, the webcam was defective.  I got a replacement and it wears very well.  So, the first auto focus issues.  It's just to help those who watch this upward in the future.

  • Cannot install LifeCam Cinema "Setup can not continue" error on Windows Vista

Original title: I can not install Lifecam cinema on Vista Business.  Installation dies and points to kb/935961.  I followed all the recommendations in there and still no luck. Help!

LifeCam Cinema just bought.  I have tried to install from DVD (version 3.5 installation) as well as downloaded 3.6 install from the Microsoft Web site.  Installation starts, but then fails with an error indicating that the installer cannot continue, look at support.microsoft.com/kb/935961.   I went through all the methods in this kb, nothing helps.   I'm on vista Business, SP2 and have kept with Windows updates.   I tried the end of update/install .net framework 4.0 and that did not help either.   I have NOT yet attempted to plug the camera into the USB slot at this point.

  • LifeCam Cinema - LifeCam.exe has stopped working

Just got a new webcam MS LifeCam Cinema that I ordered, but unfortunately, the software crashes.  The question is not the device itself, because I can see the video in the video settings Live Messenger window, and the test microphone also works.  However, whenever I try to run the software LifeCam itself, I get the pointer for a second, and then it crashes and I get the message "LifeCam.exe has stopped working".

I am running Vista Home Premium SP2 x 64, completely up to date with windows update.  I uninstalled the driver from the CD and it redownloaded go web site (did not work).  I checked all the posts on what I could find, the most common suggestion was to uninstall the Nero software, but I don't have any Nero software installed.  Any help to get this thing to run would be really appreciated.  I want to especially this for video recording, to get the LifeCam program to work is essential.

How many other USB devices attached to this machine?  Are you using non-powered for connection hubs?  I assume that you have already tried to connect to a different USB port on your computer?  Rear ports are better than using all the front ports on most machines (due to wiring and connections, I think).  If you change the Windows ports will really rediscover your hardware and quickly (without downloading) reinstall drivers current.
