Linear keyframe on a shape mask?

I applied a mast of form to a video and when I add keyframes to make it move in the clip, do it with gentleness keyframes (movement starts slow, speeds up, slow ends). However, I need the linear keyframes (I am tracking an object moving at a constant speed and can not have keyframes by changing the speed of my mask.

Unfortunately, I do not see my keyframes and the follow-up of the lines on the viewer with the mask effect shape the same as I would on a transformation operation. I tried two finger clicking (a MBPro here) on the keyframe in the Inspector, but it doesn't seem to be selectable for nothing but tilt head on and outside. I don't see anywhere in the Viewer to click and adjust the image type (linear/smooth) key on the shape of the mask either.

Any thoughts? I'm on a MBPro 2011 17 "10.11.12 running and FCPX 10.2.2

Thank you!

JP

You can see keyframes in video animation in the timeline Control-V controls.

But unfortunately there is no option to change the interpolation of keyframes. You must use your comments to make a feature request.

You can also watch TrackX of CoreMelt, which is ideal for what you want to do.

  • linear keyframes does not

I Zoom in on a map of Illustrator with a camera.  I put different camera positions, for the most part by zooming in on the map.  On a keyframe, I have a position on the next 225 130 - 20 and 225 130 - 65.  Between these two LINEAR keyframes, the camera goes up to 225 130 14, which is the other side of my card altogether.  I don't understand why this is happening because they are linear keyframes and the unit had to go directly from one point to another, within the specified limits of the movement.  Is there something that I am missing?

    Thank you

Please check the spatial interpolation of these key frames and ensure that the spatial interpolation is linear.

  • Seting keyframes to move a mask, what are the Red handles, and why can't I move the mask.

So, I have a mask I want to track manually. I put a keyframe, and then as soon as I move down the clip in time, the handles on the mask all the Red Tower, I can't move anything. What is c.

I must be in Auto key. If is not very intuitive to manually follow a mask. Can someone explain what I got. When I put a keyframe, it also always affects a red keyframe at the beginning of a clip.

OK, so if I put on auto and then change the mask a little to set the first keyframe and make a few adjustments it works fine. TEEN Style!

I guess that's the best solution. Use Auto and adjust as required.

But for reference, what are the Red handles that is supposed to mean. And is there a tutorial for manual monitoring mask.

Also how do a mask drawing good hand, when I click on the + curve and make points, then the expanded mask gets all hexagonal... What is happening with that. you have to start with a round mask and add points and tweak from there to make a mask customized with adjustable smooth edges?

Seems to be the only way I can hack through for now. Again, please to a good tutorial on the masks and the points, I have an account of Linda, if that helps.

  • How to automatically create a rectangular layer from a selection of irregular shape mask?

I'm trying to automatically crop images. The subject is on a white background and extends between the left edge of the image to the right. The top and bottom of the object are in the frame. I need to crop a certain distance from the top and at the bottom of the topic and a predefined width which would be calculated from the height of the subject.

My current idea is to create a duplicate layer and run the threshold on this, that allows me to choose the topic clearly. Once I have the selected object, I use Image-> cultures to create the desired rectangle, but I can't find a way to create a mask for the selected object in an irregular way. Anyone know how to take a selection and convert it into a rectangle? I hope this makes sense, I try to explain better if not. Thank you.

  • make a clipping with a complex and custom shape mask

    Hello

I have a graphic of a print, and I'm trying to use it to the mask of a photograph below. When I do the usual steps, is not working and causing everything to go transparent... my picture, completely disappear. I wonder if it's something to do with the complexity of the vector footprint - it has floating elements that are far away (for example, the toes are not attached to the part of the foot). If he throws?

How can I get this vector illustration imprint to function as a coherent mask?

    Thank you!

    r,

Cancel everything you've got (filled) separate paths simple forming the footprint, and then select all of the parts and object > compound path > make and then apply.

  • Need help to transform a shape layer in a layer mask blur adjustment

I understand how to do a blur mask on the image adjustment layer, so it blurs the images below, which is essentially what I'm trying to do, but in this case, I already have the shape layer (or rather imported from Illustrator > converted to a shape layer) and is in a nested composition.

First of all, is it possible to blur the images of a composition if the adjustment layer is nested in a composition of the child, or the adjustment layer must be in the parent publication; the composition is blurry?

Second of all, how we simply take a form that they have already created and use that for a mask, in this case, a mask that will blur everything below?

    Forum thanks!

There are a few things that are not effective in your workflow and your approach.

Lets talk first about the Illustrator files in After Effects. Firstly, absolutely the only reason you would ever convert a layer to illustrator in a form would be to use animator tools found in the add menu at the top of the shape layer properties in the timeline panel or to animate a Bézier path on this layer. There is no other advantage in converting a vector layer to a shape. NONE.

Second, if you want to hide an adjustment layer then you can draw the mask directly on the adjustment layer or any layer with transparency, including an illustrator layer, layer photoshop, any hidden layer or layer shape directly on top of the adjustment layer and use this layer with transparency as an Alpha or Alpha reverse cache by approach to the adjustment layer.

You can use the luminance values of any layer that has no transparency that a luma or reversed hides by luma approach. The white areas offer transparency with luma standard. IOW, if you have a radial with white in the middle and black gradient on the edge and you use a luma matte and white will be transparent on the layer below.

Standard caches only affects the layer immediately below the source.

Adjustment effect layers each layer directly under the adjustment layer. Masks and caches can be used to control the effects of an adjustment layer.

You can also use masks on any layer to control the effect added to this layer if you have a recent version of AE. You will find the option under options to Compositing.

If you have any layer with transparency or the strong luminance values, you can use Auto Trace to generate a cache for this layer based on transparency or luminance. Any way shape mask or Bézier path can be copied and pasted to another layer.

We will take your last question now. You should be able to answer. To use any shape you created as a mask, you use this layer as a track matte.

We will change that approach a bit and assume that you have created a shape layer by using the pen tool or converted an Illustrator layer to a shape. You have a path that you can be found by selecting the shape layer and by pressing twice the key U. find the path you want to copy, rotate options path to reveal animation controls and to set a single keyframe and then copy (Ctrl/Cmnd + c). Even of the forms created with parametric tools like star, ellipse, rectangle can be converted into a path by right-clicking the shape and selecting convert to paths. When you have copied the path put you on the layer where you want to paste the path, select the pen tool to begin to draw a mask, click anywhere on the layer and paste it (ctrl/cmnd + v) and that you have created the mask. This works for forms and masks on any layer.

Here's a bet to keep everything by copying and pasting masks. The size and position of a path is calculated from the center of the layer and has no relationship to scaling, rotating, or the position of the layer. If you drew a mask on a layer that is resized to 50% and moved to the top right of the comp and rotated 45 ° and then paste this path to any other layer you will NOT get a path in the same position and the same size as the layer sampled in the model. You end up with a path that match if every sampled layer transformation properties have been reset and the layer was at the center of the model and the rotation and scale were normal. You must pay attention to this issue by copying and pasting traces of Bézier.

I missed a question type. If you nest or call a layer previously and there is an adjustment layer in the main computer it will affect all layers below. If you dial before a layer and a top adjustment layer then only layers in the nested model will be influenced by the adjustment layer.  I replied before but wanted to make sure.

BE very careful when you watch YouTube tutorials on workflow because a growing number of them is bad teaching techniques and pointing you to the bottom of the dead-end alleys. Make sure you vet your training.

If you have any other questions the best place to find good community resources is to type a word in the search help field in the upper right of the AE. For example, if you typed layer adjustment or masks, you would find a lot of very good advice on how to use these features.

  • I did a shape layer, and it moves in After Effects CS4.

    Hello

I'm working on a project that has a lot of masks and shape layers to frame masks in After Effects CS4. For example the timeline that I am focusing is 3 seconds long; There is 2 keyframes in the shape layer (vertical rectangle), key frames are 3 seconds gap and are at the same position (511.1,89.5). If I go to the beginning of the seconds 3 press the space bar and let him play for some reason any moves the rectangle from left to right. Although keyframes aren't there, he is moving-even thought the last keyframe to the left is the same as the next keyframe law - as the first screenshot

The best solution, I came up with for this is to copy and paste keyframes so that there is a keyframe for each frame within 3 seconds, then I get a schedule like the second screen shot.

Is there something I could use where I could select 2 identical keys seconds out and make the form remain in the same spot with them into the second screenshot? It is speed and things happen quickly in this case isn't it?

I also had an another question-are there - it a shortcut to insert a keyframe in the timeline? I found a page with all the shortcuts and couldn't find this one should be.

Thanks guys, you have been life savers in the past!pic 1.pngpic 2.png

As keyboard shortcuts you go to hold down the option/alt key and the keyboard shortcut ' Show/Hide properties ' to switch between adding and removing keyframes.  Adobe does not have the freedom to document them all in their page keyboard shortcuts, so here goes:

    Option + P: Position keyframe

Option + R: Rotation keyframe (adds the keyframe at all values of rotation and orientation if the layer is 3D)

    Option + S: Scale keyframe

Option + A: keyframe Anchor Point

Option-T: Opacity keyframe (adding a keyframe of intensity if the layer is a 3D light)

Option + M: Keyframe mask path

Option + F: Mask Feather keyframe

Option + L: Levels Audio keyframe

    * This does that for the single letter shortcuts - double letters do not work (i.e. TT for the opacity of the mask, RR for the time remapping, etc.).

    * Option + shift + the letter will work too which is good if you have reconfigured the Option + letter for other things such as throwing scripts - that I have.

On the "boomerang" effect, I highly recommend you go to your preferences > "Général" tab and turn on 'by default spatial interpolation to linear', then you can manually add the Bezier handles to your keyframes in the composition Viewer if need be.

  • Speed category masks don't align

Hi guys I'm new to speedgrade and can't find answers online on why the mask itself and the widget are never aligned. Almost like a perspective view in a camera, it remains relatively attached to the center of the shot and does not correspond to the area of the shape mask that I specify but remains smaller and offset.

    Screen Shot 2015-02-05 at 2.00.07 pm.png

in all the tutorials and examples I've seen online for all masks happens to align themselves with the region, they are inspired to encompassing but mine seems to be in some kind of perspective mode or something. Any help would be appreciated.

This has been a problem for years, so I don't know when (if) we can expect a fix.  Here's a post on the forum on the same subject which is well over a year.

SpeedGrade masks are off and ignore keyframes

I met the same problem, my problem, I was like doing a project where I mixed images 1080 p with 4 K images.  Images of 1080 would mask with precision, the 4K images would emerge as you've demonstrated here.  It was a project of creating dynamic link, and I found that if I nested the 4 K shot in first then for some reason any mask would work as you would expect.  It's a pain, and not much of a workaround if you have a ton of shots. Luckily, I just had a few who needed masks.

I hope that Adobe solves this problem.  You will get probably just the line "File a feature request" which - coupled with $5 - you'll get a cup of coffee.  I was still the same as all the people who have been doing for more than a year.  All in good time, we can hope.  All in good time.

  • Mask for some frames?

I wish I had a mask only for a time on my images. I mean, it's... I have 30 seconds of footage, I want to leave say 10s and 15s to see that some of my images, the rest when I want images unmasked. After this point, I don't want anything hidden more head room. How I managed to do this was by double-clicking on the rectangle tool (this mask set whole sequences). Can I use hold keyframes to change the mask at the desired time. Is there a way to say just After Effects to turn off the mask (see the sequence with no masks) on some images. Thank you

There are about a dozen ways I can think of to achieve your goal.

    1. Use the track matte and simply animate the opacity. You could use a duplicate of your images with a mask or just draw a shape layer.
    2. Put two masks on your film. The first would be created by selecting the film layer and double click on the rectangle tool. The second mask will be drawn to hide the box allowing you to hide or show. Then the mask modes would be possible to assign to add and animate you the opacity of the rectangular mask.
    3. Draw a mask and then animate mask expansion. This would give a nice effect if you also anime feather mask as the expanded mask.
    4. Use Effects > channels > presets and animate Alpha Set of Alpha to full
    5. Use Effects > channels > channel shift and animate take Alpha's Alpha to full
    6. If you use CC 2014 you could use effect > channels > presets with alpha set to Off, then add an option of composition using the mask and animating the opacity

I could go on and. If there is no animation required for a mask I almost always use a matte. I find much easier to deal with for most of the projects.

  • Using mask for "Zoom in" on the Photo?

    Hi all

I fight a bit to produce a smooth result for an effect that I am trying to achieve.  I am currently working on a price see the video presentation featuring a variety of photos that I would like to animate.  My main conflict comes when I hide a picture to the size of the mask remains the same, so that the image in the mask is scaling upwards or downwards and maybe moves using the anchor Point to distract from the image.  Another way to describe it is I want to zoom in/out on an image which is constrained by a framework that does not change its size or position.

A method I've tried is to draw a mask rectangular around the image at the point when he first enters the composition.  This first mask is the exact size of the "frame" I want to preserve.  I then duplicate the image layer/mask, move forward in time on the layer of the original image and animate the scale and perhaps, anchor.  Then using the double image as a guide, I animated the original mask path to match the double size, which is made by the view.  I let the linear keyframes, but can still '; t get it as soon as the mask still seems to grow and then cut again. Take a look at this example below.

I tried to copy the exact values of the original size of the mask 'framework', but the scale of these values with the layer itself and the framework does not retain its original size.

I have a feeling, Miss me something perhaps of motorhomes this or parenting, etc.  Can someone point me to a tutorial or tip that can help to smooth this?

Please let me know if you need an another informaiton, etc..  I am running CS5 on a Windows 7 PC.

    Thank you

    Lindsay

You can make a solid mask, to the size you want and use as a track matte for the image below.  You can then scale the image as you wish, and the size remains the same.

  • Mask of the image

PE10 supports masks to images? This is a feature that is useful in AE, where any shape mask may be created in Photoshop and imported and applied according to the needs.

    Welcome to the forum.

Yes, PrE supports masks and most often in the Track Matte Keying effect, where your mask/mast acts as a 'window' to limit a video track.

To get some idea of the work of thise, you might want to look over this ARTICLE.

PrE is a NLE (of Non-linear editing), like Premiere Pro, there are a few major differences between himself (and also PrPro) and After Effects, which is compositing and animation software. Some similarities, but also some differences.

Which is exactly what you want to accomplish, and we will try to tell you how much PrE which will manage. Almighty, for many operations, is no substitute for After Effects.

    Good luck

  • monitoring of movement and masks

    Heeey!

    I'm stuck here.

I know that once, I did a motion tracking and use a mask without keyframe manually.

I have a clip with a guy walk and I motion track that, once, the data applied to a null value

I had a layer below with the empty background when I use the mask over his head, it seems that he has no head. but now I can not put the data on the mask. and I know that I did that year last in aftereffects, without scripts. I used copy and paste images or the expression on the mask path, which connects to the position of the keyframes of the null value

    I know that I did in cs3, but in cs4, I can't

In my opinion, who do not already have the project I did last year

    any thoughts?

    Thank you...

You cannot apply tracking data directly from a mask without script. You can apply the tracking data to a layer that contains a mask and uses this layer as a track matte.

    Tracking data looks like this:

Adobe After Effects 8.0 Keyframe data

    Units per second 29.97

    Source width 720

    Source height 540

    Source of 1 pixels

Format of the pixels 1 COMP

    Transform the Position

    Frame X pixels Y pixels Z pixels

    7 361.799 270,452 0

    8 364.354 276,231 0

    9 365.084 280,343 0

    10 364.487 282,402 0

    End of the keyframe data

Data mask is no pixels, it's vertex angles, curves of Bézier position vectors. There are some scripts out there that allow you to attach location data to the position of the top, but that's all. If you want to follow and hide the best option is the Mocha Shape plug-ins.

If you just want to move the layer with the mask then you can copy and paste image data key from the Center feature or point of attachment to the position of the layer property.  You can just select the feature Center and stick to the layer. You will end up by with Tracker 1 trackpoint 1 keyframes that are not attached to the layer's transform property. It is a common mistake.
