Linear potentiometer

Hello

Can I use an analog input channel to measure the variable resistor. If this is not the case, what is the other way around?

Please explain,

Thank you

Sweety Agarwal

The analog input voltage more a measure of regular DAQ card!

However, thanks to nature, ago that something called Ohm's law. (U = Ixr)

So by applying a voltage at the end of your linear potentiometer, a curent will sink and "distribute" equal tension (hopefully) over the length of the resistive track. Now, with the help of the tap water you can measure a voltage (here we are) to a specific point.

  • How to display moving from an analog linear potentiometer

I want to display an analog linear potentiometer moving in labview 9.0.

The POTENTIOMETER gives a signal of 0 to 5 volts and has a 38.5 mm race. I use a cDAQ-9174 and 9201 card to receive the signal.

I'm pretty new to labview and I have no idea where to start. I only managed to display voltage in a waveform chart. How to convert mm (or inches) displacement voltage?

I will be very gratefull for one that can help me.

    -Isn't that a simple linear relationship? If 0 mm 0 V and 5 V = 38.5 mm, displacement must follow this formula:

    displacement = (5 V / 38.5 mm) * measured voltage.

Just use the mathematical functions in LabVIEW to this implementation.

  • USB 6008 - how to display the two position linear pot (mm) and output (volts) in LabVIEW?

I have a USB-6008. I have a linear potentiometer attached to the USB DAQ. Now I can view the output voltage of pot in LabVIEW through the AI0 on USB DAQ channel. However, I would also like to be able to show the position of the stem of the linear potentiometer (mm) that generates this tension. can anyone tell how to proceed?

Since there is no lag, just use wired the primitive multiply with a constant of 20 to one of its entries, thread the other entry to your reading the voltage. Wiring of multiply it to a digital display to show location output.

  • Default with the mouse, click on?

    Hi guys,.

I'm fairly new to LabVIEW, and indeed this forum, so I hope you can help. I guess this is a simple problem, but I can't understand how do.

I have a cRIO taking 4 analog voltages. Each voltage comes from a linear potentiometer which is the displacment of suspension on a formula student race car.

I have a simple formula set up to convert the voltage to displacment. I created a table of entries that allows me to the maximum, minimum, value (from the previous probe calibration) and "stationary" value of each sensor.

The "stationary" value, is what the sensor should be read when the car is stopped. This is then used as the basis for positive or negative displacments.

My problem is that whenever a different driver gets in the car, the susspension is adjusted or fuel is added, the "stationary" value will be different. I then have to manually define the stationary value to whatever the current value is when the car is stopped, press "default current worth" and save the VI before continuing.

What I would like to, is a "calibrate" button that I can support on that sets the "stationary" regardless of the current input voltage is. In this way, I wouldn't reset the 4 values each time the car has been modified.

If you have any ideas on how to do this, please let me know.

I will attach my VI as soon as I return to the laptop where it is saved!

    Thank you

    Kevin,

As you have discovered, you cannot change the default values on a VI running.

The best way to do what you want is to use a configuration file.  There are a set of screws specifically designed for this purpose in the palette file IO.  When the user presses the button "calibrate", the values are stored in the file. When the program starts, it reads the file and sets controls on the values in the file.  You can even keep different for each driver sets, if the data are fairly consistent.

Read the help detailed for the screw configuration files and look at the examples.  It will show you how to get started.

  • Linear actuator, motor controller and labview. Establishing a connection.

    Overview:
I have a 12VDC linear actuator (potentiometer built in) connected to the and 21v3 Jrk USB motor with Feedback Controller (http://www.pololu.com/catalog/product/1392). Feedback from the actuator wires connect to the motor controller motor USB controller connects to the computer via USB.

    Problem:
Establish the connection between the motor controller and labview.

    What I've done so far:

I installed the drivers for the motor controller and windows detects it. OR MAX detects my motor controller (photo attached), but for some reason when I try to access it via the daq assistant in labview is not see it. I tried also access it through VISA with no result...

    Help will be appreciated.

You have some things you have to look in:

    • When you have installed the software, he was installing a USB > dll Com Port virtual as FTDIchip or similar? If so, when connect you your device, it will reveal itself as a normal COM (new) Port in Device Manager. You then try to talk to this COM port.
    • If you try to use the USB native on the map (as MAX has detected for you), then you will need to use the code in the .NET framework provided by the manufacturer (probably written in c#) and do your own builders in LabVIEW. If you have never done this before, it's not trivial.

I would call the manufacturer and just tell them what you're trying to do. They have probably treated before LabVIEW and can have an example to help you get started.

Edit: for fun, I followed the link you provided (which doesn't really). I searched "LabVIEW" of their site and indeed has achieved several successes. There is one thing that I downloaded (can't resist looking at code) was a gigantic turd. However, it doesn't use a standard Com port.

  • Fluctuation of the potentiometer signal

I have a potentiometer of 10 k, I'm reading through Labview. I got the signal to work and come through and everything, but there is a problem with the signal. The potentiometer is connected to a dial and returns a signal of 0-5 based on where the dial turns. So there 4.5 volts at 06:00 the signal gives 2.5 volts and 09:00. The question comes with 12:00. The signal can freeze to 4,997 volts for about 1% of the rotation and jumps to 1.45% ~ 1 and then goes to zero.

I'm trying to detect very fine when the dial begins to move and when it stops moving. I can't program a method to detect when the dial stops when the signal jumps around like he does. If you look at my program, I'm trying to set two criteria when the dial starts to move and when the dial stops. The problem is that jumps into the signal on the dial by midnight cause vi to prematurely close because the signal is erratic. Is there a way that I can change the signal of the device or anyone to think of a way of 100% can happen to these two criteria?

    Thank you

  • SCB 68 rigged with potentiometer, have problems...

[I am preparing a graduate in the laboratory material that I work so much that I apologize in advance if I misuse of terminology, I'm not quite familiar with it]

I have a SCB-68 block connected to a computer through a PCI-6289.  I can see the device in MAX and he claims an automatic test.

I'm trying to wire two 5V linear potentiometers in the block.  Right now, I have the one with the power and return the wires in the terminals of screws 68 and 67, which tells me that the pinout diagram are AI0 and AIGND.  The potentiometer should vary from ~ 0V full extension to 5V to complete removal.  Instead, run a test on results AI0 massive fluctuations not correlated randomly.

Another question here suggested he switch to A1, I did, but no other results so I moved them back.

Someone has any advice on how wire properly this configuration?  Thank you.

Problem solved.  It turns out that the problem was because I was in differential mode, I needed to have the two wires on the pot in two separate channels.  Hang them up to AI1 and AI9, everything works as it should.  Logic wants future pots can be added in channels 2-10, 3-11 and so on.

    Thanks for the help.

  • PD controller - expression of linear speed

I have a PD position controller in LabVIEW (force) current send commands to an actuator linear servotube via an amplifier.  So far, I tried to read the data of position with a potentiometer linear and taking a derivative to find the speed (for the term D PD).  The system seems more stable with proportional control only.  It makes sense after reading in "Modern control theory" Ogata this potentiometer signal is not suitable for differentiation because of the noise it produces.  Questions: What are my options?  Is to differentiate an equally problematic linear encoder signal?

    Thank you

    Maciek

    Maciek,

move to RT should translate into a system behavior much better and tuning should become easier.

To increase the distance for the calculation of derivative is not really comparable to the use of a filter. As you have already said, filters add their own dynamics to the system, especially if you use higher order filters.

  • Is there any function of linear programming in numbers version 3.6.2?

I know there is no function of linear programming in numbers until 2011 (read all the old posts). I want to know is there any moment or Apple is still quite complacent to do something. In my class, I introduce spreadsheets and I choose to submit in numbers instead of excel, now I can't change my choice if I have to then I have to take excel classes and change all my previous worksheets which is equivalent to a failed in the class and object of repetition. I'm the only one facing this problem because I am the misfortunate, who made a mistake to love Mac. And in if he makes Apple feel better hear it "I manually fix (just had to learn any other way) linear programming models and then draw, while windows users use the built-in, they. Thank you Apple

If you try to get the settings for a better line did I suggest to use linest() function:

LINEST() is a function of linear estimation.  I suggest that spend you some time to familiarize yourself with the functions that offers numbers by typing the equal sign in any cell, and then looking through the list of functions on the right.

To use the line eating function do something as show above, enter the data X and Y in the columns, as shown.  To get the slope (m in my example), select cell E2 and enter the formula:

    INDEX (LINEST (B2:B11, a2:a11, false, Nonzero-y-Intercept), 0)

    shortcut for this is:

    E2 = index (LINEST (B2:B11, a2:a11, Nonzero-y-Intercept, true), 0)

    to get the y:

    E3INDEX (LINEST (B2:B11, a2:a11, false, Nonzero-y-Intercept), 1).

There are additional stats in the table linest() returns.  Read about it in the built-in help

    I hope this helps

  • FIRST HP: Solving a system of linear equations with a parameter

    Hello

I know how to solve a system of linear equations by using a setting by hand but I don't know how to set up in the calculator.

Can someone please help me solve the system of linear equations below with a 'p' on the first HP Calculator next parameter?

    2 x + 8z = 26

    4 x-4y-14z = - 38

    8 x - 4y + 2z = 14

The answer to the above equations is:

    x = 13 - 4, =(45-15p)/2, z = p y p

    Thank you

    Arthur

    Hello

What you're trying to solve is not really a system of equation with a parameter, but you try to solve a set of 2 equations with 2 variables (x and y).

The case solve command can do for you.

    According to the CASE, type:

    Solve ([(2*x+8*z) = 26,(4*x-4*y-14*z) = - 38,(8*x-4*y+2*z) = 14], [x, y])

    Come in

    and the calculator will return

    {[-4 * z + 13, 15/2 * z + 45/2]}

    which is what you want.

  • Solve this linear system HP50g

    Hi guys,.
I am an engineer in electrical engineering and have to solve systems of linear equations on a regular basis, so that the functionality is very important for me. Everything works very well, 95% of the time but sometimes I meet systems that the HP50g doesn't seem to like. For example one below.

I want to solve for x, y, z and one in terms of V

    V- 100000 x +is-100000 100000x= 0
    -250000is-V+ 100000x100000z= 0
    -250000z+ 100000one+ 100000y= 0
    a+ 100000-250000z= 0

After these 4 equations is on the stack, I'm them in a vector by pushing {4} in the stack and then by pressing -> ARRY. Then I push the variables I want to solve for the battery, x, y, z and a and a vector of them. Then, I use LINSOLV to solve the system. However, when I do it this way, the calculator gives me an equation for x, an equation for y and 2 equations for z and no equation for s. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Is there another way to do that would give me 4 equations, one for each variable I want to solve for in terms of V?

If my method to solve linear equations is somehow confusing, I basically followed this video
    http://www.YouTube.com/watch?v=z802L29JyQE

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

Do not know exactly how you typed, so I'm being explicit just for some b:

    Notes:

    (1) as an equation is entered, use ' '

    (2) it is preferable to use a comma to separate the real and imaginary parts

    (3) explicit use multiply

If the entry will look like this:

    '(4,3*X) = (4.7)'

For this simple equation and assuming that X is defined as an independent variable (reproduced by 'X' in the top middle of the screen), you can use SOLVEVX for this one: (No. 5 in S.SLV menu or F5 if you use soft-keys)

with "_Approx" uncontrolled, the answer is:

    X = 7/3

with "vabout" checked the answer is:

X = (2.333333333,0) (although X is part of the imaginary number, it is himself a real number).

    Kind regards.

You can see keyframes in video animation in the timeline Control-V controls.

But unfortunately there is no option to change the interpolation of keyframes. You must use your comments to make a feature request.

You can also watch TrackX of CoreMelt, which is ideal for what you want to do.

I'm trying to do non-linear measures (especially the voltage) on the various elements that are in a secondary circuit of my high level design.  Is there anyway that I can select a particular node to perform these measurements on?

    Hello

You can do in the measure dialog. Once you have the winodw dialogue measure, there will be three dots next to the measuring element right and then you can click on it and a new window opens. In the new window, click on your desired sub-channel and click on the button on the top and then select the node you want to your measurement to make. I've attached a photo showing the three steps that we discussed.
