  You have corruption of dbx files.
   
  Spend most of your messages out of the Inbox if you can and move the messages you want to record off deleted items, and sent items. Locate the OE message store and then close OE.
   
  Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.
   
  In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer.   Compress, (Compact in American English), removes waste of space, not your messages. Please read below, but if compact you and still get the prompt, after return. It is another question.

  After deleting messages in OE, go to file | Folder | Compact to reduce the size of the folder.  Otherwise removal does not affect the size of a folder.  You should probably go to file | Folder | Compact everything to reduce all sizes of folder in OE.  I would like to make a backup first.

  For more free space on your disk, click Start | Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Disk Cleanup.

  It is not best to start a new message when you are tracking on another, because nobody knows what you're referring to when you the previous thread.  I managed to find it well and Bruce said: ' tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files.
