  • Download files by clicking a link

    Hello

    I recently posted here the question of the creation of a link someone can click on and then download a file directly on their computer with Save as.  I received the following response and it worked.  The only problem is that after you download the file, it will not open.  I have a message in the Windows Viewer that says that the file is empty and if I try to open it in Photoshop, it is said that it is the wrong type of file.  The original file to download is a jpeg file.  I have included my code at the bottom of the post.  Thank you!

    Download a file by clicking on a link:

    You will need to use a script.  If your server supports PHP, this will do what you want. Change the path & file name to point to your download folder.  SaveAsdownload.php.

    Place a link on your page parent download.php file.

    <?

    / * Using PHP to force a file download

    This little script requires a file download.

    Using this script is a side effect to hide the location of the file on your server.

    */

    full path of the server of the download file (including the file name and extension - jpg, mp3, zip, doc, etc...)

    $Path2File = ' path/filename.png. "

    the file name

    $theFileName = "filename.png."

    the work is done here

    header ("' Cache-Control: must-revalidate, post-check = 0, pre-check = 0" ");

    Header ("' Content-Type: application/octet-stream '");

    Header ("Content-Length:".) filesize ($Path2File));

    Header ("Content-Disposition: attachment;") filename = $theFileName");

    ReadFile ($Path2File);

    I thought about it.  The file download.php must have in my root directory and it was not.

  • Download problem - links / download files that are not in the indd file

    An article in a folio gives us problems that no other items are. It takes ages to download and seems to be download links that aren't in the indd file.

    The INDD file contains nothing complicated, multiple MSS and an object using the image sequence. Any ideas why it could be downloading files not used in the indd file?

    Is there an overlay Web content in the article? In some cases, people are unable to join the local HTML files in a single folder, so article will post a bunch of unnecessary files.

  • How to create a link to download a .psd or .eps file

    I'm trying to create a link to a file for a user to download .psd. Whenever I have a link to the .psd file, Dreamweaver wants to convert into a JPEG file. Is there a way to post a link to a .psd file to create the user to download this file? I am currently having files that retain the original Photoshop elements (layers, channels, etc.) used to create the file. I want to do the same thing with .eps files, but who have not tried yet. Any thoughts?

  • Can I make the data in a cell in numbers link to a file in the finder?

    Numbers will allow me to create a link to email or an Internet link, but apparently not to the files in the Finder. Anyone has a suggestion to make this happen?

    AFAIK, you can't link to a local file, except via the script, which is awkward.  You can put a file in Dropbox and copy / paste the public link to this file in connection of numbers. By default, clicking the cell number will download the file from Dropbox, which may or may not be what you want.

  • Random problem, download files

    I have a random problem, downloading files on different web sites. I click on the file to download and retrieve the backup file with the file name box instead, I get something like "attachment.php". He always seems to be php files.

    By clicking on the file many times to download later, it will download, but it is very frustrating.

    I went through all the guides and troubleshooting suggestions. Nothing makes no difference. I disable add-ins, antivirus etc. nothing works.

    For example, this is the last download, I tried (click on the download button):

    http://www.Pixologic.com/ZBrush/getting-started/

    I got "download.php", which is not just the zip file with a different name. It is in fact different.

    Do it a few times I finally got the zip file.

    It seems to happen on any web site. The common theme is that this '.php' is involved.

    Is this a bug? Any ideas?

    Do you not see the correct link I posted above at the bottom of the browser window if you hover over the download button?

    You can have security software as a software firewall or antivirus which is at the origin of the problems if safe mode did not help.

  • Download Manager: is is possible to cancel a download and not delete the partially downloaded file?

    There seems to be no way to change the default behavior for the Cancel button the Download Manager.

    I would like to be able to break a download link without losing what I have downloaded so far.

    At the moment to achieve, I stop the download, move the files, and then cancel the download. It of messy and got to make mistakes in the past.

    Thanks for your suggestions.

    You have changed the investigation once more.

    • "If you state categorically that Firefox will remove always download files when you press the Cancel button, I will mark this topic resolved."

    That seems unlikely,
    and in a certain extent depend on system set-up, and for example if you download to a temporary directory, regardless of what Firefox does or not doing the files will be probably deleted a date closer.

    The above is another question, but again, you have asked initially

    • "I would like to be able to break a download link without losing what I have downloaded so far."

    Sometimes, it is possible.

  • Satellite A100-756: browsers close attempt to download files from the Internet

    I bought a Satellite A100-756 just before Christmas and it has been running XP Pro SP2 absolutely fine without any problem.

    I've upgraded to Vista Ultimate this weekend and I can't download files to PC from the Internet using ANY web browser I installed.

    I dropped all the security settings just in case it was the cause of the problem but still can not do.

    If I click on a link to downliad an exe file, for example, the Run/save/Cancel dialog pop up, if I click on RUN it run the application, but if I click on SAVE, the browser closes right down.

    The same thing happens if I'm going to transfer a system file to MySpace or one of my web servers via HTTP.

    I tried IE7 +, FireFox & Opera and all do the same thing.

    It's the exact even if it is a pure install or an upgrade, and the same copy of Vista works fine on all the other machines I have here (I installed to test just in case it's a Vista only bug. it's only the Toshiba that has the problem.)

    Nothing is written to the event logs, or error report.

    Someone at - it ideas?

    Hello

  • Download file with LabVIEW webservices

    Hello community,

    I have running on a PC webservice and I would that my users to be able to log on the site (made), select the menu upload (done), select the file they want download (done), then using a POST method, I need a routine that acutally downloads the file to the server (not done) all of their browser. I found several links demonstrating how the customer can download a file from labview, but my clients do not have labview. Everything must be done through their browser.

    I enclose my solution how the server can send a file to the user. This part works, but I need a file transfer in the opposite direction as well.

    Thank you!

    Use "read downloaded files info" in the range of Web Services. It will allow you to access the files that you download an HTML form in your web service. It will give you a temporary file path that you can then open or copy.

  • Windows Embedded Compact 7 on the smartbook Sylvania - IE cannot download files

    I have a Sylvania 7 '' Wireless Smartbook WEC7 (http://www.sylvaniacomputers.com/product.php?id_product=45) with the latest firmware, running on Windows Embedded Compact 7.  It is produced by a Chinese company that manufactures several similar models, both with Windows Embedded and Android.

    Internet Explore cannot download files.  It is said "website not found" when I try to download an attachment to email (Gmail, Aol, MS exchange web, etc.), or click on a link that should cause a file download start.

    I think it's at the level of the BONE, because I also installed Opera Mini 5.1 Windows mobile, which works well on the machine, and also, it can not download attachments or files.

    I also have the earlier version of the Sylvania Smartbook running Windows CE 6 (http://www.sylvaniacomputers.com/product.php?id_product=41).    IE and Opera Mini 5.1 work as expected, and download files.

    Anyone has an idea why Windows Embedded Compact 7 on the Sylvania is unable to download files?

  • I can't read my downloaded files... they appear in an unreadable code.

    When I download files over the internet to open in mirosoft Word, this box appears and asks me to choose an encoding that make us the file readable. but none off the work of coding. What can I do to stop what is happening while I can read files downloaded without the box asking encode or at least which code to use.

    Thanks :)

    It is possible that the person who sent these emails is encrypt (or failing to read them before attaching them to the e-mail address).  Check with that person.  If this goes with more than one person (or if you are just downloading them off a website), maybe they use a newer version of Word and the file is saved to ad a .docx instead of a .doc and you cannot downloaded the patch to upgrade the earlier version to be able to read these files. Here's where to find the upgrade so that your version of Word can read these file types: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=941B3470-3AE9-4AEE-8F43-C6BB74CD1466&displaylang=en.  It is also possible that the type of file, the files you download can not be opened with Word - what are the types of files (extensions) of these files that you download that does not open in Word?  Can you provide me with some links to sites where you download these files from and what file you chose to download so I can do it myself and see if I have the same problem?  It would be a great help.

    Maybe downloaded files are compressed and must be decompressed to get the real document.  These have usually a .zip file extension, but there are many other options as well.

    Try to send a file .doc that you know that you can read and open yourself and then try to open it.  If it opens, there is nothing wrong with the file to .doc file associations (in fact, proved that if you are able to open a .doc in your Documents folder - but it also proves the files can be transmitted on the internet and always be open normally).

    When asked to choose and coding or decoding option, what are all the options that are provided?  This only happens with the .doc files or it happens with other files types as well (and if so, what other types of files)?

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!
