Linksys E4200 WPA2 TKIP

In all my previous routers, I was able to configure security wireless WPA2 TKIP + AES mode...  But I can't understand how to do this with the E4200 (does me not such an option).  Is it possible to do that...?   Or is that what "WPA/WPA2 mixed mode" is?

Reason I ask is, I want to connect my PSP to my wireless network, but there must not be TKIP, AES.  On my old Wireless Setup, I could do with the WPA2 (TKIP + AES) setup.  I fear that if I use the E4200 WPA2/WPA mixed mode, which is the WPA2 security device?  (WPA being low and "crackable"?)   Or what is my old wireless routers are misleading and their '+ TKIP' was really WPA security?

I guess I'm too paranoid, but I'd rather be safe than sorry...    If I put in place access as guest in the E4200, which may be WPA mode, without changing the security of my private network?    Or should I set up the MAC filter and mixed mode?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

WPA/WPA2 mixed mode is exactly what you want. It's actually the same setting for WPA2 with "AES + TKIP" you had before.

WPA uses TKIP.
WPA2 uses the more secure AES but can be configure backward compatible to accept WPA/TKIP connections as well.

WPA/TKIP is still quite safe. If you must use it, use mixed mode. This should be OK this is not as if it's cracked WEP security quickly and easily.

The MAC filter will do nothing for your safety. It will no more make sure mixed mode.

  • Linksys E4200 - can update firmware and roll backs damage my router?

    Hello

I had to restore the firmware on my Linksys E4200 (v2) because I had problems after upgrading the firmware. I tried to upgrade again and again met with problems. In short, I improved a few times and restored several times. Currently I'm on the old firmware and I without any problem.

In the old days, it was not wise to update the firmware of some peripheral hardware too often, because some devices has agreed that a limited number of updates to firmware... don't ask me why :-)

Is this also the case with the Linksys E4200 or can I upgrade and roll back as often as the requires, or as often as I want to try to upgrade because of new features...?

    Thank you

    SJW

As long as you do the right steps during the upgrade/downgrade the router (loading the firmware using a wired computer, not to interrupt the upgrade/downgrade process, load the right file, etc.), the unit should be fine.

  • WGA600N default for WPA/WPA2 TKIP/AES despite settings saved after reboot

Strange comment here: when I select in the web the WGA600N utility: WPA/WPA2 TKIP/AES after restart only WPA2 and AES only, always default.  I saw it twice.

Anyone has an idea why it is doing this? My D-Link 825 security is set to WPA2 with AES encryption only algorithm.

I read that the maximum speed is obtained by forcing these settings and I tried to get the router and bridge to match.

As I pointed out in the "New Firmware" thread, the problem is solved with the release of 1.05.

    Hello

Recently, I went from a router D-Link GamerLounge for a new Linksys E4200 using the default firmware, upgraded to the latest version.

The router seems to work fine - except when someone uses Skype, and performance of the network decreases drastically. I have tested it with Skype running on a wireless laptop and test my Wired PC network. Here are the results of ping www.google.com with and without Skype:

    Without Skype (wired PC ping):

    Reply from 74.125.113.103: bytes = 32 time = 132ms TTL = 46
    Reply from 74.125.113.103: bytes = 32 time = 83ms TTL = 46

    Reply from 74.125.113.103: bytes = 32 time = 105ms TTL = 46
    Reply from 74.125.113.103: bytes = 32 time = 48ms TTL = 46

With Skype (running on the laptop wireless, PC ping wired):

    Reply from 74.125.113.103: bytes = 32 time = 83ms TTL = 46

I searched a bit on the internet and have not found anyone with a similar problem. Someone at - it suggestions? I guess I could try to upgrade the firmware again or something.

Probably due to the quality of service. You said it was a GamerLounge, which I suppose has automatic QoS for the games.

You can configure QoS on the linksys as well, it's just not the installer for the game by default.

  • Linksys E4200 - range WUSB600N V2 / signal issues

    Router Linksys E4200 dualband and Win7 64 bit Linksys WUSB600N v2.
Both in the same room, the distance is about 10 meters.
I compare the results on 5 GHz btw the stick of Linksys and btw another laptop with Intel Advanced-N 6200 AGN wifi chip.
Running a wifi 5 GHz N on the stick of Linksys, leading to the signal strength low and reduced its speed.
Practically, I can't improve the signal than the Intel + 15 to 20 dB...

    Negligible:

    distance / Intel / Linksys:
    <1 m ="" -26db="">

    5 m /-50 dB /-65dB

While Intel radio affects 300 MB/s, the Linksys is somewhere around 200 MB/s only. in the same room
Anyone else knows a bad signal with the WUSB600N v2, as well? I bought the stick to stream HD media, but with - 65dB is not much of an improvement to what I had on 2. 4 Ghz, 802.11 g (())

  • Linksys E4200 and VoipBuster sip call

    Hello

Just recently bought a router Linksys E4200 and it was rocking so far! I've updated since a WRT320N. However it seems that the call SIP (using my account Voip Buster) no longer works...

I don't seem to be able to register with the Voip service. Port is 5060 standard (if I remember correctly, I'm not at home now) and I've already enabled on the router the special tick for Voip calling ALG. Router is upgraded to the latest firmware and it's the V1 router.

With all the foregoing, I cannot yet connect to VoipBuster using SIP. It worked like a charm with the WRT320N, so it's something with the router.

Can anyone help? Thanks a bunch!

    Try the following steps:

[A] with the help of the Cisco Connect software (if at all, you have installed the router using this software)

1] open the software and go to the option that says "settings of the router.

[2] then click on the option that says 'Advanced settings', which will take you to the router configuration page.

[3] lower the MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) of 1500 to 1400 or less (usually found on the main page / basic configuration of your router)

4] click administration and disable UPnP.

[B] If you have not installed Cisco connect then you can connect to the router's user interface using its default IP address in the browser which is 192.168.1.1 and enter "admin" as password empty username field. This will take to the web interface of the router and then follow the steps as indicated above to make the changes.

Second, it also depends on the type of VOIP provider, you must open the ports on your router. H.323 uses 1719 and 1720 for signaling, dynamic ports for media. SIP tends to use 5060 for signage, dynamic again for the media.

Follow this link and open the ports on your router to your VOIP: http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?pid=80&login=1&app=search&vw=1&articleid=17241

Im trying to connect the TV via wifi direct to my router from linksys e4200. the router has wifi direct.  my pc is connected to the router via a network cable. the idea here is that I want to push films to the router, then to the tv via wifi direct.

the problem is that the tv refuses to connect to the router told me just recording failed. Ive tried the pin of my router still nothing ive disabled the security still has nothing, Ive used the method push button and still nothing.

is it possible to connect to the router? IM thinking this way because it has direct wifi.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions

So what you saying is this TV is not able to sell the linksys router? I'm still so confused with this TV... If it says built in wifi, you should be able to connect to your router... looks like there should be a way...?

  • Cisco Linksys E4200 v2 fails to process UPNP requests

Bought a new router E4200 v2 version last month and replaced my dlink dir-655 and I started to see the alerts on my server at home that it is impossible to configure the router.

Already checked on the router that UPNP is enabled. already tried disabling the firewall, ipv4 and ipv6 and turning too wide "filter applications anonymous Internet", but does not

then in WHS 2011 troubleshooting guildline, I ran a router online test tool: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/using/tools/igd/results.mspx

and all tests passed except "Testing UPNP" and the poster details a mistake:

'Test 5 - UPnP Support Test not supported

    Result:

The operating system is Windows Vista
    The firewall is turned on

Exceptions are provided by the firewall

UPnP is enabled by the firewall

    UPnP services are running

    Discovery of UPnP is enabled

    get_StaticPortMappingCollection() returns NULL IStaticPortMappingCollection

    get_StaticPortMappingCollection() returns NULL IStaticPortMappingCollection

Could not get the IGD port mapping ".

Now, it seems that my router is bad or cisco/linksys does not support this API and is not compatible.

is there a way to fix this?

    * Firewall can block almost all of the ports used by P2P clients. Check if the BitTorrent ports are made available to customers requesting. Disable the firewall of the router and enable uPnP features allow the BitTorrent ports to pass through.

    * As E4200 is a new Cisco router usually have a good level of security, and unless you have a good configuration configured on the router it can block the software work that uses UPNP.

    * If the ISP updates for IPV6 nodes still functionality for IPV4 will exist as the Lauch of IPV6 also depends on the hardware compatibility

So, once reset the router for Hard Reset 30/30/30

The following procedure will clear the NVRAM and set the router back to the default values:

With the power on, press and hold the reset button the back of the unit for 30 seconds
Without releasing the reset button, unplug the unit and hold reset for another 30 seconds
Plug in the appliance ALWAYS keeping the reset button a final 30 seconds...

Then reconfigure the router once more and then check the concern...

  • Linksys E4200 and connectivity Motorola SBG6580

Here is a picture of my home network. The problem I'm having is, I can't get the WD MyBook Live Duo to be seen on the entire network. If it is connected to the Linksys, all computers connected to the Linksys can see it, but not those related to the Motorola. If I put it on the Motorola, the same thing happens, but in the visa versa. I bought the Motorola for its DOCSIS 3 capabilities, not for the wireless. I prefer to use the Linksys Wireless. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Devices must be on the same subnet (e.g. 192.168.1.x) to be able to see each other. You could make the Sb IP 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.2 for the E4200 and connect a cable from LAN of the SB E4200 (not WAN) port lan port.

  • Tunnel 6rd Linksys e4200 v2 problem

    Hello

    I have a Linksys router e4200 v2 (firmware v2.0.37).

I tried to work a tunnel 6rd without too much success.

Apparently the router is not assign correct ipv6 addresses when you use a 32 prefix length.

I managed to get ipv6 connectivity by setting a 64 prefix length and manually adding the public ipv4 address prefix.

My ISP is telling the router must assign an ipv6 address in the following format:

    -> prefix: ipv4_public_:mac_address

    Instead, I get the following:

    -> prefix: MacAddress

Any ideas? A firmware bug, perhaps?

    Kind regards
    Sebastian Baldovino

    Hello

Just to let you know that everything is good now, the IPv4 address mask length must have been set to 0 instead of 32.

The router is now assiging addresses correctly.

    See you soon.

My Qnap turbo NAS TS - 212 does not work in my home network.

The NAS is connected to a Cisco Linksys E4200 (Gbit port) wireless router and I have a Windows7 PC connected to the router as well.

I can connect to the NAS during init/config (the first minutes before a long beep) but after the bee long SIN disappears from the network. The QNAP Finder can't find the SIN and I cannot ping the NAS server.

What can be the reason causing this loss of connection into the router?

The NAS works when I use a wireless older router SITECOM 54 g router.

Do I need a special in the router config please NAS Qnap TS-212?

you get a light for the ethernet port you have the NAS connected to? the ethernet connection can be registered not that could be the reason why the SIN is not detectable.

you have the NAS set to an ip address static or is it to dhcp? If the dhcp, check the table of the router DHCP clients to verify if the NAS is networked and assign an IP address. you have reset your NAS? You may need to do. also, on the side of the router firmware may need to be updated to fix bugs that the current version could have. Go to the Page of Support E4200 to the latest vesion. You can also check for the latest firmware for your SIN.

  • Low-speed Internet with wired connection to E4200

I have a HP Pavilion p6347c AMD Athlon II X 4 630 2.80 GHz, 64 Bit, Windows 7 SP1 WITH 16 GB of Ram, using Comcast high speed Internet.

It works very well and I had no problem with my Pavilion until I replaced my old router G with a LinkSys E4200 (state-of-the-art, the top page of the router line N).  All the features work well, except that when I use Firefox 7.0 or Internet Explorer 9.0, the connection time is very very very slow when my computer is connected to my router with an Ethernet cable.  The problem disappears when I log - in using the same Ethernet cable - directly into the modem high speed; Then, the loading speeds are fast as lightning.  When I return to the router via a wired connection, even - page very very very slow post.

I've already spent about 8 sessions with LinkSys on the phone and chat, and it turns out that the router is not the problem (according to LinkSys).  They advised that I need to contact the manufacturer of the computer, or people who can respond to Windows 7 support issues.  Someone at - it ideas?  Maybe something I can change in the settings of the firewall, network, computer security options settings?

I connected my HP laptop running WINDOWS VISTA on the same Ethernet cable and disabled the wireless.  The speed of the wired connection is quick as a Flash - no problem at all.

Then why my desktop Windows 7 SP1 computer not offer me the same speed?  Whenever I need to do important online work, I have to unplug my Ethernet cable from the router and plug directly on the modem to get faster speeds.  I then reconnect to the router once completed, so that users without wire and devices on my network work.  It's very frustrating.

Help!  I am at a loss to understand why this computer has not faster to the Internet when wired to the router.  Is - this Windows 7?  There are some options that I need to change?  Someone at - he heard talk about this and you offer solutions?  Appreciate any assistance.  Thank you.  / Jacques novel /- [email protected]

P.S. Customer LinkSys was no contribution to this issue.  I hope that some tech "warned" this reading will say AH-HAH and offer a viable solution.

On a hunch, I selected the reset 'Factory Defaults' option in the Administration, after having updated the firmware. Something must have been damaged during the first attempt to install the router.

To reset the default settings, you must have the original Setup disk and re-install using the same router name and the password.

When this was done, the Ethernet connection worked perfectly.  Hope it will be useful to all having the same problem.

  • How to determine the E4200 V1 or V2?

Pages support and registration for the E4200 wireless router ask if I have a router V1 or V2. There is no place on the real router which identify it as V1 or V2, and Cisco Connect app does not display this information. What I know is the following:

    Serial number: 01C10C18104423

    Firmware version: 1.0.03 build 14

There is no need becauser there is NO version number printed at the bottom of the router. The point of all of the link was to help distinguish between V1 and V2 E4200, which he did not. Indeed, the model number is not printed on the label at all. It is engraved in the plastic under the label box. The label contains the serial number, MAC address, and another number nnnn-nnnn. There is no version number or model number.
