Linksys EG008W Version 2

Hi all

I have a strange problem with this switch cause it starts well and I get the connections between the switch, the WRT56G, and my computers.

But then after just 2-5 minutes of the switch restarts and flashes all is once again the lights and creates the connections again, but it keeps restarting

all the time, which is very inconvenient.

Someone has an idea what is the problem?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Best regards

Per Johansson

More likely, it is a problem on the switch. There are no settings on the switch that you can configure is a plug-and-play device. You can try to remove the switch from the router and see if you have the same problem. If the unit is always set to zero, I think the unit is most likely defective.

I hope this helps.

    Hi bassist71,

You can actually do the installation manually. It is done by accessing the configuration of the route through 192.168.1.1 page and configuring settings according to your type of Internet connection. • UPNP WRT610N Version 2 available on PS3

PS3 with a wired connection shows as unavailable UPnP.  UPnP is enabled on the PS3 and enabled on WRT610N of Linksys Gigabit version 2.  All firmware is up to date.  Motorola Surfboard 5120 cable modem.  Seems to have no problems of online games or the PS Network.  I'm fine with the NAT 2 shows the PS3.  Is this just a compatibility issue with new router?  Previously, I had a router Linksys WRT300N v1 with firmware updated and UPnP has shown as available on the PS3.

PS3 "sees" the router as a media server.  Navigating to files on a USB drive inserted at the back of the router has been heavy, but reached (rootvideo, etc.)

Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated

Try to upgrade/re-flash the firmware of the router. You can download the firmware of the router from the linksys Web site... On the linksys configuration page, click on the Administration tab, update the firmware.

After upgrading the firmware, reset the router and re - configure from scratch.

  • Need help with Linksys WRT160N!

I had a Linksys WRT160N (version 1) for a few years. I plugged it on my desk, followed by a VOIP router and a cable modem. Internet through Comcast cable with typical 15 to 20 Mbps DL and around 4 Mbps UL (via Speedtest.net and Speakeasy). My only wireless connections have been a Wii and PS3 without any speed problems (both tested).

I just got a netbook Samsung N150 Plus with Win7 Starter and my DL speed is only 0.5-0.7 MB/s but UL is always around 4 Mbps. But only on the netbook... everything else is fine. I tried everything to fix this... updated the firmware on the router, tested the netbook on a different wireless network to ensure that it was not the wireless adapter (works fine), checked computer wired (works fine), tried different channels, tried to turn filtering off, tried to disable the firewall, tried to disable the blocking of anonymous requests etc. I read through other posts and the consensus was to get a new router. I can't believe this is my only option. Am I completely missing a simple difficulty here? Help, please!

Thanks (and bear with me as I'm not as technically savvy as maybe others).

OK... I had finally straightened it. I downloaded the latest version of EasyLink Advisor on my desktop and just rested on my network software. Wireless on my netbook DL speed went from 0.5 Mbps to 15 Mbps. I don't know why... all I know is that I couldn't install the LELA original (from included CD) on Windows 7 (x 86) although I managed to install the network very well (new PC is around the age of 6 months... used to have XP). Nothing has changed in the configuration of the router settings (at least not manually), so I'm not sure why it works now that LELA is installed on the Windows 7 desktop. If anyone knows I'm curious to know why this is... just in case someone else he meets and needs information.

  • Assistance using Windows using Linksys WRT54G wireless remote

Please someone help me. I have Qwest DSL service, ActionTec Gt701R and Linksys WRT54G - Version 6.

If I connect directly to the Modem, send a request for Assistance from a distance, the Expert can connect to me without any problems. Here is the IP ticket RA information-

    RCTICKET = "65538,1,71.215.174.28:38861;192.168.0.2:3389; trippc:3389, *.

When I'm connected wireless using the WRT54G, send a request for Assistance from a distance, the Expert cannot connect to me with an error that the DNS cannot resolve the host name. I assigned a static IP address to my laptop and the Port 3389 to sent to this IP address, according to the Linksys support. She is the information the RA ticket IP for failure.

    RCTICKET = "65538,1,192.168.0.4:1293;10.10.10.50:3389; trippc:3389, *.

The IP address in this post are internal addresses, the Expert cannot find them on the Internet.

Anyone have this working? If you have, please send the instructions step by step that followed you.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Problem solved on the Forum of Qwest. The modem must be changed to use "a transparent bridging. The the WRT54G must be changed from automatic DHCP to PPPoE.

Public static IP and Port Forwarding have nothing to do with this issue.

    Thanks for your help.

  • sec_error_invalid_key using https to the Firefox 33 access router

33 Firefox has tightened its security settings. 33 FF on my Vista system now relates the sec_error_invalid_key trying to enter administration on my old Linksys WRT120N (version 1, latest firmware 1.2.11) router. Versions of Firefox, up and including 32 do not have this problem. 32 FF on my OS X not related the problem I don't have not upgraded FF here yet. IE on my Vista system also has the problem. Google Chrome is not the problem.

A web article I found indicates that 33 FF now consider less than 2048 to be insecure key lengths, and it also provides is no longer the option to ignore this insecurity and still access the site (the router in this case) when he thinks https is not safe.

My suggestion/request is that an update of the firmware should be provided for this router that includes a key of length over long which FF 33 will accept to be sure. (I would also like to see FF still accept the shorter keys, but this isn't a problem for the Linksys, well if you start to see this problem a lot of users, you can try to push FF to offer an option so that its users can accept the shorter keys).

    Thank you.

    -steve

I heard that the FF 33 is problems with certificates Self sing who have most of the routers. This affects other secure sites, not only the Linksys routers configuration pages. If FF 33 can't stand low signatures, you can consider using another web browser for now. You can also change the router to access http to https to avoid this error on 33 FF (recommended for local access only).

  • Firmware database

Technology nerd new and need some basic information about the firmware of the router if you please.

I was told that the router firmware versions cannot be improved on WRT310N (have v1 and v2 for chromecast need).

Is it true just for the model I have?  Linksys routers are upgraded?  Upgrade to another version of sense?  Not just be updated to the same version.

Instruction on the basics of the firmware would be appreciated.

    Thank you.

The difference between the Versions of hardware Linksys and Versions of Firmware is not clearly on the support site.

You can find which hardware version you have by looking at the label of the product next to the model number. If no version of the hardware is listed, then you have version 1.

Each version of a Linksys routers equipment has specific firmware versions (there are few exceptions such as the EA6900). Material versions have slightly different electronic components.

  • Reserved DHCP WRT160NL customers are not appearing in the window of DHCP reservation... Why?

I have 5 computers connected to my router. 4 are wired and I put in place so that each of the 5 has its own static address. One of these computers is my DVR security camera system to allow monitoring my cameras remotely. It worked very well for years, and now I can't access the DVR remotely. I noticed in the router configuration that DHCP clients are not displayed appear as active, even if the two computers are on. I am running XP Pro on these machines and I can PING each other so I know some communication happens. Also, I can access cameras DVR from my main computer using the internal IP address, I assigned to the DVR, but not if I try to use my current WAN IP address.

Would appreciate any advice on the resolution of this problem.

    Thank you

It may have something to do with the firmware of the router. I suggest that you should do. The firmware that you can download from the site Web of Linksys is version 1.0.0.3 build 2. (http://support.linksys.com/en-us/support/routers/WRT160NL). After the upgrade, reset the router to factory settings (pressing and holding the reset button). It is best to re - configure the router from scratch also. Try to power cycle your network as well.

  • Need to know how to reconfigure the router settings

Hi - I was on the phone with technical support for an hour before, they told me they couldn't help me unless I paid or bought a new router.  Isn't an option for me financially so I hope someone can help.  :-(

My cable signal came out very briefly, probably for 5 to 10 seconds.  When she came back, my router not working.  I jumped through all the hoops reset that work normally, but nothing has worked this time.  The tech guy said that I need to reconfigure my router settings.  I don't know how.  Can anyone here help me?

I am running Windows Vista and the router is a Linksys E1000, version 2.  Is there a page on this site that tells me what to do?  I could not find.

I thank very you much for any help you can give me.  I'm desperate!

Thank you for your kind reply.  I did some reading and found that if I reinstalled the router, that would take care of the problem.  He did, and I'm back online!  I appreciate your response however!

  • Declining connection wireless adapter and lock up my computer

    I have a Linksys WUSB54G version 4 adapter.

My computer is running Windows XP, Service Pack 3, which is automatically updated at all times.

I used the adapter for a year with no problems.

Suddenly, he began to lose the connection to the Linksys router and then lock up my computer works only a hard reboot turned off.

When she returns to the top, some or all of my cookies are lost.

I ran several different security packages, but no virus or other problems have been discovered.

I uninstalled the adapter and reinstalled.

The last time, as a result of an article I read on this site, I installed it without the Linksys software, just the drivers.

If it does not correctly without Linksys utility then continue using the Wireless Manager Windows to connect to the wireless network.

You have another PC which is connected to the router. Try to install the adapter wireless on the other PC and see if it works on this computer.

  • Very strange Vista problem when behind a switch

I bought the router WRT610N along a LINKSYS EG008W 10/100/1000Mbps Gigabit Workgroup Switch. In my small office (4 closed offices and an area central + kitchen + room + storage + a bowl of chocolate for my pregnant wife), we were using our ISP (Bell) modem/router (Wi - Fi + 4 ports RJ-45) with switch 8 old ports. There are 3 Mackintosh a XP and a Vista workstations and a D - Link DNS-323 NAS on the local network, + XP/Vista/Mac laptop wireless now and then. I wanted to update our stuff for a flow rate of localized Gigabyte (still looking autour to build a Xeon server + file server), with Wireless N Dual-Band, and the following configuration has worked right away without installing anything same software-wise, nor the need to reset - restart a computer or device: all records shared Internet connection was available immediately which was very satisfying. I even bought Cisco Network Magic Pro 5.5 and I'm glad I did, this is a really well done and intuitive graphic interface to manage small business networks (one license for PC stations up to 8 + 8 Mac stations), if not the best out there for its target market niche and prices vary.

However, there is a confused about Vista glitch: I have to fix directly on one of the ports on the WRT610N, it won't work if I try behind a switch box (although it works for all other operating systems), using the following network configuration:

    1. all the workstations are connected to the switch, focused on one of the ports of WRT610N
    2. The Internet WRT610N port Bell's DSL modem
    3. SIN D - Link DNS - 323 and the port 3 WRT610N
    4. EG008W Switch 4 port WRT610N 1 port
    5. Workstation to the switch EG008W 2 Vista port
    6. Workstation XP and switch EG008W 3 port
    7. Workstations Mac to switch EG008W ports 1, 5, and 6

From the XP desktop, I see Macs and access the NAS. From a Mac, I can see + access the XP and the NAS. Vista station connects any behind the switch EG008W: I * must * plug into the router, WRT610N, something I don't want to because the switch is there to serve as a wall mounted RJ45 plugs into each office (where the Mac XP and Vista workstations are located)... Any help or link to a relevant reference would be greatly appreciated.

Kevj, thanks for answer you, I came here to close the topic because I put the finger on the problem and it is resolved: the problem lies elsewhere, it is not the calbling or some other hardware problem. I have replace the Vista box by a mobile XP, using the same wiring right and everything worked well, he wasn't a wiring problem... Note that the workstation is a Dell Studio which comes with a Realteck Gigabit controller box (so I guess that many other models/brands also provide this same controller, which means that many other users can know this problem).

    Here's what I did:

    • I got rid of Vista by installing Windows 7 and everything worked fine!
    • I then published an update of Windows from the Microsoft site, which offered a patch for the familly Realteck GBE (among other patches) controller
    • After restarting the computer, the network was not accessible more while the Win7 box is behind the Swithcher: it behaved exactly as when it was Vista (indicating that the adapter was unplugged when behind the selector and then giving access while behind router WRT)!
    • So I restored the last just restore point prior to the update of the controller and got everything back to normal; I then did another session of MS Windows Update without the Realteck driver patch, and everything worked well.

Conclusion: DO NOT update your controller driver Realteck GBE from Microsoft, whether for Vista or Windows 7, it has a bug which takes place whenever your Vista/Win7 box is behind a DMZ sub-segment of LAN using a blender (switch-router-router/DSL-ISP).

Note: the WRT610N works like a charm! It is plugged with a RAID0 of DNS-323 1 TB NAS, one 8-port Gigabit switch power supply 3 macs, 1 XP and 1 Windows 7, Wi - FI works well enough (G mode, while the band n is open - I don't have a camera of 5 GHz yet so I can't say for this FREQUENCY range) and I left the own DSL access available Point. Which means that there are 3 Access Points: one directly on the DSL router that leaves the LAN in a DMZ (cannot be seen or accessed from the mobile) and 2 more on the WRT610N dual band access not only to the Internet but also for shared resources). Blue color for the port connected to the dwitcher, which means a Gigabit local LAN, and green port for the DNS-323 whitch works to 100 MB (unfortunately they still do not have a Gigabit NAS). I am very happy with the product, more when combined with Network Magic Pro.

  • Strong signal; connectivity limited; no ip address

All of a sudden my laptop does not connect to the router linksys wrt54g version 6.  The laptop shows a signal strong but under limited connectivity status or not.  I downloaded the new firmware for the router, but still have the problem.  I can connect to other networks wireless without any problem, so I think it's the router not my network card.   Any suggestions?

Have you updated the firmware on the router...?

Reset you the router after the upgrade of the firmware...? If this is not the case, press in and hold the reset for 30 seconds button... Release the reset button... Unplug the power cable from your router, wait 30 seconds and reconnect the power cable... Now re - configure your router...
