Linksys RE4100W Extender
Tried to reset the range extender as it did not work well lately. After pressing the reset button (for about 10 seconds) and plugged into the socket, the light at the front became red and kept flashing. Have repeatedly reset several times but remained the same. What could be the problem? Thank you.
Regardless of the LED trying to reconfigure the RE4100W following the instructions below:

Hi 36109
Welcome to Windows Vista answers Forums!
First you can try to uninstall and reinstall Silverlight and check.
You can try to uninstall Silverlight by downloading the Windows Installer Cleanup utility.

Note: Some menus of Windows Media Center does not support third party commercial edition can influence the ability for the Netflix at Windows Media Center entry point to appear. If one of these utilities is installed on the machine, it is likely, it is the cause of the problem, and uninstall the tool does not always solve the problem.

Insufficient resourses tv recording Windows Media Center exist to complete the requested service
I am running windows 7 ultra with a dell xps quad 4. I use linksys media extender to connect to my TV. Lately when I look at a TV show which was recorded and another program starts recording that my computer crashes. I get a message that says: insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service.
When I watch a TV show that was recorded and another program starts recording that my computer crashes. I get a message that says: insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service.
Do you get this error when you try to record TV programs at a time when you don't play a recorded show?
It seems to be a memory looking bottleneck the amount of activity going on right now. Was there any change remember you past in the computer just before this problem? As an upgrade to your security program or the installation of another program?
When you see this message, do not close it down. Instead try to open the Windows Task Manager by pressing keys Ctrl , Alt and Esc together for your keyboard. Go to the performance tab in Task Manager and see what's the use of your resources, such as shown here.
The things I mention may not provide you with a resolution of the issue, but they should help you get started in the right direction. I hope that someone who knows more about the question drops in!

Linksys bridge to extend your wireless Signal
Hello
I just installed a Linksys WRT160N router. The signal started of good about 50 to 70 feet of the location of routers. Now the signal is part as low in many, 54 Mbps. I was wondering what options I might have to install a wireless for the expansion of the signal bridge. I configured a network encrypted with WPA2. Any advice would be appreciated to help me buy the right bridge. Also, I wonder what would be the technical difficulty to install and configure. I have configure the WRT160N myself if it means something.
Thank you
Peter
Hello TooManyDonuts,
I updated the firmware on routers to the latest version. He used the firmware from 2007. I have udated the Intel wireless adapter to a newer version of the driver. I choose channel 8 in the range of 2.4 Gig for the router and choose channel 8 for the adapter. I increased a couple of options for the adapter wireless beyond the default option. I don't have that options a, B and G for the adatper, no N option. I guess that you may not have everything. Now the signal is very good (54 Mbit/s) and I always use WPA2-Personal. Thanks for your help, it worked.
Thank you

A couple with an Extender of RE4100W problems; eplain logic my config network before listing the two questions.
I use a dsl router that manages all functions of the router, and then an E3200 configured in Bridge mode, working as an AP. The router is in the wiring closet, so I need the separate AP. The 3200 is configured according to the data of linksys, so it has an assigned IP address. Works great, I just need the Extender to extend the signal in a section of the House.
1. whenever the extender works, I get a message of conflict of IP address on multiple computers. Remove the Extender, the problem goes away. I tried assigning static IP end-to-end, so I know that there is no conflict and who can verify with my router data, but still, the conflict messages. The minute that I remove the Extender, the conflicts disappear.
2. the second question is more strange... I see solid speeds through the Extender when first powered on, but after its operation for a period of time, flow fall 9-10 Mbit/s to less than 1... becomes practically unusable. Unplug the Extender, plug it back in, and we are ready to go for a while.
Whats strange, is that I did a test where I've disabled the 3200 and turned on its side of the dsl router wireless. Seems to work fine... the problem disappears. That suggests to me the extender works and its something involving the 3200, but there is not much here regarding the config when this thing works in bridge mode. and without the Extender under tension, or, when it is connected directly to the AP, the flow is very good.
I tried to use both the IP of the router (which, to me, seems the ideal solution as a gateway of the extender) and the period of INQUIRY PSA as its IP of the gateway, but given that the 3200 works in bridge mode and so I'm not expecting its IP address to the IP Address of the gateway for the Extender. Two configs work, but the problem is that it is.
I use WEP security throughout (I know, I know, but it's a long story, and go to WPA will create some problems) and just to eliminate that as a problem, switched to WPA and tested. I doubted that it was a safety issue, and that test seemed to confirm... the problem remains.
I got the Extender configured with a static IP address in dhcp mode, makes no difference.
Channel wifi has changed, just to eliminate a possibility, no difference.
At this point, I don't know where to look and do not know if the two issues are related? .. .any suggestions?
I went and did a few more tests.
Long story short, it seems to be the security mode. I switched to WPA2, and it seems to have solved the problem... will test through the evening and confirm.
Not sure why it has not resolved the issue before... I know that I changed it on both the parameter "input" (AP) for the Extender and the side 'stretched '. I know I have done this, if I remember this change on the access point itself.
That said, is not to argue with what has apparently solved the problem.

Satellite L515-S4960: ESata port can be used for LinkSys WLan adapter?
Buy Toshiba L515-S4960 laptop, bought a LinkSys RangePlus wireless notebook adapter, but I did not yet find a port to plug in.
I wanted to extend the reach of the signal from my router.
The place above the eSata port opens to support an adapter?
I don't want to tear anything in amont.*
No, you cannot use the eSATA port for the use of the USB WLan adapter.
You can only connect compatible external devices that support eSATA port!As far as I know a laptop to LinkSys RangePlus wireless adapter is a PC card that supports a CardBUS interface.
You can use in only in the PC card slot supports CardBUS as well.Check you manual use if your computer supports the PC card CardBUS (32 bit) slot.

Windows Vista Home Premium cannot find Xbox 360 as extender
This may be long but im giving information as possible.
I'm good with the computer. My Vista Home Premium computer cannot find my xbox 360 as an Extender. When I use the WIndows media player 11 and share, he sees my xbox very well. Zune software, same thing. My xbox 360 is here no problem on my network in "My Network Places".
In Media Center, once I typed the 8 digit number it is said that he can not find the Extender. I did the following:
Reset my router
Reformat my computer
Reset my xbox 360
Double checked I got the right 8-digit number in media center
Disabled windows firewall
Went to the tab exceptions and compatible: WIndows Media Center, Media Center Extender, eshell.exe, discovery network
went to the management of the computer and turned on UPnP device host (changed the startup type to automatic and restarted my computer)
Permit "filter multicast" in my router settings
UPnp enabled in my router settings
Upgrade Vista (with SP1 as well)
Re-installed the drivers for my wireless card
Connected to the Xbox 360 WIRED to my routerHeres the funny thing, I have a Sony laptop vaio with Windows Media Center Edition 2005 on the same network that sees my xbox all the time. Its actually connected through a microsoft extension program (XboxMCE05Lite - enu.exe) basically it works fine.
One funny thing that may help with my vista (Home premium) Windows Remote Assistant machine fails or the other.
Any ideas? If this can help, too, this computer is built on the ground. Sense, this isn't a HP, Dell, Sony, etc.
Network equipment:
Router Linksys WRT54G
Map of Netgear WG311v3 54 Mbps Wirelessworks fine with my other laptop. So I guess that the problem must be my wireless card. I guess that's a PCI card it would have nothing to do with the problem. I'm going tomorrow to buy a NIC. USB Im not in a race simply because my internet works very well without getting a new network card. I am just puzzled and would like to get this to work because I hate running through computer problems and in abeyance. I'll get one tomorrow and let you know the guy.

Our RE6500 Extender crashes Netflix on our Android mobile devices. Any ideas?
OK, this is a long, but I want to give as much detail as possible.
Our Linksys Linksys EA6500 router died recently. After do not do more for about 2 years on our last two Linksys routers, I decided to try Netgear. I had good luck with them in the past. I bought a Nighthawk R7000 Netgear wireless router. Most of the time, I'm very happy with our new router. Wired connections are fast and stable. A Wi - Fi connection is fast and stable on a frequency with one exception. I can't get Netflix to work systematically in Wi - Fi on our any of our devices android mobiles. Each device is wired works well and Netflix has no problem. Netflix works great on our iPhones. If we use our Samsung Galaxy Tab tablets S 10.5 to connect, the app will start and, when moving to the library/selection screen, we get the little swirling animated icon for about ten seconds, then the application crashes to the home screen. We have no problem whatsoever if turn us our phones mobile hotspots and communicate with them. We have no problem on other Wi - Fi networks that we have tried to use. The only time that we have this problem is on our home Wi - Fi network, administered by our router Netgear R7000.
I called tech support a few weeks ago, and they accompanied me by running a factory reset on our router, thinking that maybe something did not quite right for our first installation. They walked me through the initial Setup again. Once we did it, bam!, Netflix was back and works well. However, in a few days the same problem began. The Android Netflix app was crashing on our home network. Again, no problems of data mobile and no problem on any other Wi - Fi we checked. The problem was only exposed through our home network. If I had to restore the network and rerun initial Setup, Netflix is going to work very well once again, for a limited time; ranging from a few hours to a few days. Since the installation of our new router, I was not able to do more than three or four days without this problem arising and requiring a factory reset to 'fix '.
Fast forward supports a few days and five hours on the phone with Netgear tech. They were not able to help permenantly resolve my problem. I swapped my router on the same router. Netflix Android app crash all started again things worked fine for two days then this afternoon. I've messed around with things for a few hours and did not have much luck. Finally, I started thinking that what we have on our wireless network, which could have repercussions on it. Our range extender came to mind. We have a Linksys RE6500 AC1200 Range Extender to extend our network without wire on the back of half of our House. We've used since the me moved into our House newly built a year-and-a-half he y a. I started to wonder if that may have an impact. I went to the back and disconnected the Extender and then restarted the R7000 router. I have connected to the wireless network as soon as she came back to the top. BAM! Netflix works like charm. I went to the back and plugged the extension in. Almost immediately, the problem of crashing Netflix app returned to our Android devices. I've disconnected the Extender again and don't mind not even reboot the router this time. Netflix has started working again. I went back like this probably five or six times, just experiences. Every time that I turned off the range extender, Netflix would work on our Android devices. As soon as I would re - turn on the Extender, the crashing behavior would start up. For everything else, regular web surfing, watch YouTube or Hulu, the Extender is very well. He kills just Netflix on our Android mobile devices.
I have no idea what may be the cause, but it begins to look like it has absolutely nothing to do with our router Netgear R7000, at least the router itself. The funny thing is, I know that a few weeks ago, when we got the new router, the range extender did not cause a problem like this and seems to work perfectly. I think that there is nothing inherently wrong with the extension either. I suspect that there is some problem of incompatibility between the two devices is the cause.
I'll keep experimenting. I'm going to perform a factory reset on our RE6500 and approach through the initial Setup again this weekend; Get everything back to the basic condition, out-of-the-box and see how things work.
In the meantime, no matter who never experienced anything like this before? Any ideas?
Actually, no, we've never experienced any topics negatives that the Netflix app crashing on our Android mobile devices. Other than that, our wi - fi was fast and stable. You try to use the 2.4 GHz or the 5 GHz network? 5 GHz has potentially higher speeds, but breaks more quickly through the walls, etc..
You have a decent wi - fi signal where you placed your extender? I know you're eager to extend to another location, but you must have at least a decent signal where you place your router or you pick anything to extend. Use spot finder technology in the extender configuration to determine the appropriate power of the signal for the placement of the Extender.
Here is a link to the thread that I found helped me.

APPCRASH error - then "extended attributes are incompatible" when I try to do something
My laptop started to lose connection problems and I kept resetting linksys and it would work and then quit again. I had a mistake some time ago when the download of Norton, but it works very well since their. I then downloaded PC health and scanned and do add on errors. Today I really can't do much. I scan with Spyware Doctor and it said no infections, but still I can't do anything. Every error I get says APPCRASH or BXE and I cannot download anything to try to scan or system restore even the computer I only errors. I had to download Perfect Optimizer, but it will not work... just says everything has stopped working, Windows incident reports even stopped working... APPCRASH wermgr.exe said then C:\Program Optimzer/PerfectOptimizer.exe perfect - extended attributes are incompatible... said that whenever I try to do something? Any ideas?
Hello
It is not recommended to install several security software at the same time. Remove the additional security software, then check. Make sure you have at least a software installed.Method 1.
Sometimes the security program installed might not be fair enough. I also recommend you update your security software regularly.
a. follow the link below to start the free online scan:
http://OneCare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm
b. run the malware removal tool from Microsoft.

Method 2.
Check to see if the problem exists in Safe Mode, if the computer works as expected in mode without failure, then we can solve the problem in the clean boot state.
a. refer to the article below for the procedure safe mode in WindowsVista, Troubleshooting in safe mode problems
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/troubleshooting-problems-while-in-safe-modeWe can use the approach 50 / 50 to narrow down the root cause of the problem.See the article below for instructions on how to start your computer in a clean boot state. How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

Combining a WD N900 router and a Linksys E1200
Hello, I'm looking to expand my network. I bought a WD N900 router to replace my old Linksys E1200 (sorry linksys, not enough routher ports
).
The internet connection comes from the modem in router N900 of WD. The WD N900 has the printer hooked to it and 3 NAS, a computer, and our magic jack. I ran 30 feet of cable network and routed the cable through the walls in the home section. I want to use my old Linksys E1200 to extend my network. I want to connect consoles (PS3, XBOX360) as well as the receiver of entertainment to my Linksys router.
What is the best configuration? I'm looking to be able to access the NAS of WD N900 on our PS3 and Xbox360 for LAN - LAN looks like go. I tried to use the instructions on the Linksys website, but it doesn't seem to work. I have test the cable network, I ran across the walls, and it is a good signal. However when I plug the Linksys E1200 and connect my lap top Linksys E1200 to test it does not work.
Any suggestions?
Thank you
Derek
We must look on your router for hardware version. It is probably below.
So when you tried LAN to LAN cascading, you disable the dhcp server on E1200?
In any case... try the bridge mode if your firmware on the router supports bridge mode.

Please help put in place the second router Wireless extender
Morning everyone,
I bought a Linksys WRT 1900AC recently to replace my Linksys E2500. The wi - fi signal is much stronger, but he can barely do in my room. As such, I would use my old E2500 as a range extender. I have already run the ethernet cable (cat 6) from the router WRT 1900AC main to the E2500.
After spending 2 days by reading the documents, I still have the problem to connect two routers. My understanding of routers and networks is limited. I would appreciate your help.
Here's what I want to accomplish:
1 cable connection to the internet is through (E2500 PC); OR
2. connecting to the Internet via wifi
3. If possible, using the same SSID for both routers
Please give me instructions step by step, if you can. My understanding on this subject is poor. Thank you for your help.
Noos.
PS. If you have a easier and/or a better way to extend my range, I'd like to hear it.
see if the instructions here helps. Follow configuring lan lan step by step and you should be able to do work. http: http://www.linksys.com/us/support-article?articleNum=132275/www.linksys.com/us/support-article...

Linksys X 2000 as wireless accsess point
Hey,.
I have a router Linksys X 2000 defective, which can provide modem services (we think that the fault relates to upstream modulation), I would like to use as an wireless accsess point to extend my existing wireless network, provided by other services intigrated router.
I tried to follow several tutorials on how to turn a spare router in an AP wireless but always result by not being is not able to connect to the wireless signal. And I am unable to find the X 2000-specific tutorials.
All the tutorials I've read State to disable DHCP, what I'm doing on the X 2000, however when I noticed that I couldent connect I have re-enabled DHCP and was able to connect to the X 2000 (and other devices on it) but not able to connect to the internet or any other device on my network home.
My X 2000 is connected to my router default gateway via an adapter of current line. The adapter is not defective, or the wireless or change the X 2000 capibilities.
Can someone talk to me through setting up my X 200 a wireless AP or infact inform me with this particular router is not possible.
Thank you.
Go here to connect two routers.
http://KB.Linksys.com/Linksys/UKP.aspx?pid=80&login=1&app=search&VW=1&articleid=3733
However, you say that your X 2000 is faulty. So maybe that's the reason why it will not work.

Why is the Linksys help number a scam?
Yesterday I call number help Linksys and had someone in Saudi I understand just to help me to re - connect my Extender (it has been disconnected and the software did not work for the re - connect).
Because it was the number of help Linksys (directly off the Linksys website 888-351-0767), I thought I should "trust them" (read on).
He proceeds to tell me that my wireless network was taken over by foriener IP addresses, and the reason for my signal strength was so bad & erratic.
And I wanted to use a service of their of which would allow him to solve the problems that I had.
I agreed because it was using Linksys partners...
He then showed me some googling turns out he told me was the truth.
Then, he led a program of DOS shell and found all the problems I had while explianing for me of how these foriener hijacked my computer & wireless network.
Then he told me he could fix everthing for $69.99...
I didn't say a Word, I just turned my computer off (now the Start button until it is off).
Then when I rebooted, I got its software automatically restart.
I found a way to stop their software by searching for some answer on my cell phone.
This seems to be a number of scam, please let everyone know!
Linksys expected appoligize to me for this kind of behavior...
I'll get hard customer happiness when I decide to move to a new wireless router.
Thank you

I looked at the link, photos of technicians are similar to the language of the person who spoke to me.
Not unless every one of them was fluient in broken Islamic/Indian/English, if so they should get a price for their perforamnce!
Note:
Sounded like there were at least 10 other people + background that "were" fluient Indian/Islamic all tell the person what to do next.
Seriously,.
Thanks for the comments and help guys.

Help us to extend my wireless network!
Hello world
After reading a lot of Web pages on this topic and get very confused, I thought that post id here.
I replaced my old separate modem and router yesterday for a Linksys WAG160N. All in all, im very happy with it
Basically, my neighbor is pay their ISP a fortune and hardly uses internet at all. Ive offered for them to share mine (both to provide a total consent, im not doing something questionable!) that I have a very large download quota and this would save their money.
Now the 2 houses are separated by an alley, but the distance between the router and the computer is about 6 m. Strangely, my WAG160N is not carried as far as my wireless network does not appear when they in their House on their laptop!
So after reading about bridges wireless / wireless Extender range and all sorts of things im now very confused.
I'm looking for essentially the most cost-effective way to extend the signal of my WAG160N, possibly through a second router in my garage) to allow the neighbor get a good signal. I cannot reposition my router/modem from its current location and also unable to connect a second router by an ethernet cable, do wireless.
So, is there a way I can connect my WAG160N wireless to another wireless router in order to extend my signal for my neighbor to use?
I was watching the Netgear WN2000RPT and the WRT160N that someone else had previous success with using it as a Repeater.
Thanks for reading! I can't wait to hear any suggestions
Alex
UPDATE: Connecting 2 routers with a 10 m ethernet cable works. Is it possible to eliminate the use of this cable?
